Salem

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 5:51 p.m. Sunday to assist Perry Township officers with a dispute. Officers were unable to make contact when they arrived, and everything checked okay.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of West Pershing Street at 2:17 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with the caller and her juvenile brother who advised that he had been assaulted by a female that he knew in the 800 block of West Pershing Street and that he’d been pushed into a wall. Officers spoke with the female who advised the juvenile had been arguing with his girlfriend when she intervened. Officers had all involved fill out written statements regarding what occurred.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Fourth Street at 12:21 p.m. Sunday for a possible sexual assault. Officers gathered the information from the caller and a detective was notified, with an investigation is pending.

— Officers spoke to a person in the police department at 11:54 p.m. Sunday who advised they had left property at a person’s house, and they wouldn’t give it back. Officers spoke with the person at his residence in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue and he agreed to give the property back to the caller.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:10 a.m. Sunday who advised her juvenile son was struck by a white vehicle while riding his bike in a parking lot in the 1100 block of East Sixth Street. The juvenile advised the driver stopped and asked if he was okay before he left, and the juvenile was transported to the ER yesterday by his mother for medical attention. The caller advised she wanted a report on file.

— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 6:57 a.m. Sunday were advised of a possible water main break. Officers located the leak and had dispatch notify the water department of the problem.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue at 4:05 a.m. Sunday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers attempted to make contact at the residence but were unable.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Third Street at 1:15 a.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke with the juvenile’s father who advised that the juvenile ran away, and officers collected their information and entered them into LEADS without incident.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:52 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault that occurred at around 8 a.m. that day. The caller advised that she was at her parent’s residence playing boxing with her boyfriend, they were both using boxing gloves, and as soon as they began her boyfriend struck her on the left side of the face causing her to almost fall, become dizzy and have blurred vision. She advised that they did not establish any rules of no striking in the face, but it was the hardest she’s ever been struck. There was minor swelling to the left side of the caller’s face, and they advised the incident may have been caught on her parent’s security cameras. They were advised to provide the video, and to contact officers if they decided to pursue charges and that they would need to complete a written statement and sign a medical release form to be reviewed by a prosecutor for determination on charges due to the circumstance of her agreeing to box with her boyfriend.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 11:14 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious person. The caller advised that his camera picked up a person outside with a flashlight. Officers searched the area but did not observe anyone.

— Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 10:08 p.m. Saturday for a reported fight. While en route dispatch advised that the fight had broken up and the involved parties went their separate ways. The park was checked, and no disturbances were encountered.

— Officers responded to the area of Benton Road and West State Street at 9:38 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue at 9:10 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that there were juveniles in her yard refusing to leave. Officers were located playing football on the caller’s property, advising them of the complaint and to leave the property, which they did without issue.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:54 p.m. Saturday for a reported open burn. The fire department advised they did not need officers.

— Officers responded to an address in the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:51 p.m. Saturday at the request of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office to check for a missing juvenile out of their jurisdiction. The residence was reported to be the missing juvenile’s father’s but was found to be a vacant residence. The sheriff’s office was notified of the same, and called back later requesting officers check the same residence for the missing juvenile after they were advised the juvenile was at her father’s residence. When officers arrived, the house was still a vacant residence with all doors secure.

— Officers spoke to a female juvenile and her mother at 7:25 p.m. Saturday for a theft report. They advised that the juvenile had placed her shoes in the area of the pool and upon leaving realized the shoes were missing. During their time at the pool multiple males were overheard talking about the shoes. The males were identified, and officers attempted to speak to them, but they were unable to be located. The males had attempted to return the shoes to the park with the caller made aware, and an altercation occurred between the parties and the male, Caleb Collins, 18, was later located and admitted to taking the shoes. The shoes were also returned damaged and painted blue. Collins was arrested and transported to the police department for booking before transportation to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Vine Avenue and East Third Street at 6:38 p.m. Saturday was flagged down for a dispute. A white vehicle was in the roadway with the occupants outside of the vehicle in what appeared to be a fight. Overhead lights and sirens were activated, and the vehicle took off. After a pursuit the vehicle was stopped and the three males within were ordered out of the vehicle and were not cooperative with officers. Davidson’s Towing took the vehicle and the driver, Isaac Hickman, 19, Salem, was taken into custody and the passengers were transported to their residence. Due to his behavior, Hickman was transported directly to the Columbiana County Jail, charged with failure to comply, a third-degree felony, underage consumption, and menacing, and while at the jail continued to make threats and was OC sprayed.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:11 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man who reportedly fell and hit his head. Officers and the firefighters were unable to locate the person in question.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:56 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers were unable to make contact with the person in question.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 1:26 p.m. Saturday for an issue concerning his juvenile daughter. Officers spoke with the caller and the matter will be forwarded to a detective.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 1:09 p.m. Saturday for a civil matter. The caller advised he had a court order to get items from his home and needed a police escort due to a protection order. Officers stood by until the caller finished gathering his things.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 11:56 a.m. Saturday for a burning complaint. Before officers arrived, the fire department advised that nothing being burned was illegal.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 3:29 a.m. Saturday for what sounded like a fight. After making contact it was found that they were yelling at a video game.
