LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set Aug. 28 for Justin Burr, 31, Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, charged with fourth-degree felony strangulation and fifth-degree felony domestic violence for allegedly choking a woman during a domestic on Aug. 21 in Wellsville.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Sept. 15 for James Beebout, 25, Densmore Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with fourth-degree felony failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and misdemeanor obstructing official business for allegedly failing to stop his motorcycle when an East Liverpool police officer was attempting a traffic stop and then crashing on Aug. 22 in East Liverpool. He refused to identify himself after being asked multiple times and started resisting, then was taken into custody and taken to East Liverpool City Hospital for further medical evaluation.

Travis Whaley, 54, last known address Hillview Drive, Hanoverton, was fined $500 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 90 days suspended and credit for 28 days serving, leaving a balance of 62 days still to serve in jail for domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim. Whaley slammed a woman on the floor of a Hanoverton residence on July 23.

A pretrial was set Sept. 2 for Travis Benjamin Wright, 40, Rosetta Drive, Negley, charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstructing official business for allegedly grabbing a woman and putting her in a choke hold and then grabbing her again by the throat after she broke free on Aug. 21 in St. Clair Township. He also made statements about having a gun and that he was going to kill her, but she was able to get away. He then allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence in a standoff with police. He was apprehended and had a 9mm pistol.

A pretrial was set Sept. 2 for Dustin Wilson, 34, Newell, W.Va., charged with assault for allegedly striking a woman in the face and in her hand and throwing her cell phone out of the vehicle as he was driving on Aug. 17 in East Liverpool.

A pretrial was set Aug. 28 for Brandon Hacker, 32, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, charged with aggravated menacing for allegedly threatening a woman on Aug. 18 in Lisbon.

A pretrial was set Nov. 13 for Richard Amos Krontz, 57, Akron, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct from an undercover agent for an agreed upon price of $160 and driving to Salem on Aug. 15 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A pretrial was set Oct. 28 for Ryan Kost, 27, state Route 14, New Waterford, charged with criminal damaging for allegedly kicking the door of a woman’s vehicle, breaking out the windshield and causing dents and buckling the hood on July 25 in New Waterford.

A pretrial was set Nov. 18 for Gage Cope, 20, Hill Street, Lisbon, charged with underage consumption after being caught with an open container of beer at Guilford Lake State Park on Aug. 16 in Hanover Township.

A drug paraphernalia charge was dismissed against Bryan Malone, 36, Grimms Bridge Road, East Liverpool, who appeared in court ill. He had been accused of possessing of possessing a plastic container with pills on March 3 in St. Clair Township.

Anthony Kelly, 37, Wood Street, East Liverpool, was fined $50 for a red light violation.

Michael Nason, 30, Summit Road, Salem, was fined $30 for expired tag and given no fine for failure to produce license.

Ta-Ron Tisdale, 31, Fife Coal Road, Wellsville, was fined $100 for no license.

Grand Jury

LISBON — Frank Aracich, 52, Sophia Street, East Liverpool, was served Thursday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury for third-degree felony tampering with evidence and fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly tampering with evidence and possessing methamphetamine on Dec. 28, 2024.

Court News

LISBON — A Wellsville man accused of participating in a scheme to get narcotics into the Columbiana County jail entered a guilty plea recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to two counts of complicity in the commission of an offense.

David Sisco, 34, Sixth Street, will face sentencing Oct. 24 for the two charges, with one a third-degree felony and one a fifth-degree felony.

The indictment alleged that Sisco was part of a scheme to bring drugs into the county jail from Sept. 12, 2024 to Sept. 13, 2024 and solicited two women to obtain illegal drugs as part of the scheme to get the drugs into the jail.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Sheldon Robinson, 51, Crestview Road, Columbiana, pleaded guilty to charges from two separate indictments, with sentencing set for Oct. 20. The charges included nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, for failing to pay child support from June 7, 2020 to June 5, 2022, and attempted failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony lesser offense, from an incident on June 30, 2022. He was originally charged with a third-degree felony failure to comply charge. A charge of driving under suspension was suspended.
