— Police investigated an alarm drop at 2:14 p.m. Sept. 28 at Small Wonders Day Care. The officer found the alarm to be a technical issue; however, he cleared after neither or fire could access the key holder.
— Terri Smith, unknown address, was cited at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 for running dog at large in the 300 block of East High. She had received multiple warnings over the past month.
— An officer provided backup at 1:42 a.m. Sept. 28 at Tractor Supply in Columbiana for an alarm drop. There was no signs of forced entry and the structure was secured.
— There were no arrests stemming from a child endangerment call received at noon Sept. 27 near Columbia and Spruce. A Salem motorcycle driver reported that two very young children were out in the middle of the road. This was confirmed by two independent witnesses. Upon contact with people at the residence, they confirmed the 1- and 4-year-old children must have escaped outside an open door. Police contacted the mother who led left them with a babysitter and retrieved them.
— An officer was unable to find two dogs at large (one black and one tan) reported at 9 p.m. Sept. 27 in the area of State and Lisbon streets.
— Thomas Mackey, address unknown, was cited at 9:57 a.m. Sept. 26 in the area of state Route 344 and Industry for speeding and given a verbal warning for expired registration. An officer tried to initiate a traffic stop with lights and sirens; however, Mackey did not stop. Finally he pulled over at 344 and Cunningham. The officer believes he was distracted and didn’t see his due the floating balloons in his back seat.
— Police provided assistance to a young girl who was having difficulty breathing at 8:08 p.m. Sept. 26 while working the football game. Initially reported as an asthma attack, the girl reported that she had been jumped by a fifth grader. Police got a description of the alleged attacker, while EMS treated her for the asthma. A report was put on file with the school administration who is handling the situation.
— Police responded at 3:24 p.m. Sept. 27 to a running vehicle lockout at the Leetonia Sportsman’s Club. A infant in the vehicle was okay and did not require EMS treatment once entry was made. –
— An officer responded to the 400 block of Somer Street, where a male half wanted to retrieve some of his personal belongings at 2:41 p.m. Sept. 25. He was informed that police couldn’t determine who owned what that it was a civil matter.
