Salem
–Officers responded to the 400 block of West Sixth Street at 7:26 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller advised they had not heard from their ex-husband for several days. Officers spoke with the man in question, who advised he was fine.
–Officers responded to the 1400 block of Stone Castle Trail at 6:47 p.m. Monday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the person in question, Thomas Sniezek, 72, and advised them they had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Officers placed Sniezek into custody and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the area of Frankline Avenue at 6:21 p.m. Monday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol. K-9 Fero was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle during a traffic stop. Troopers located contraband from the vehicle,. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue at 4:20 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was fine.
–Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 3 p.m. Monday for a reported dispute between two men. The caller advised that the other man had been staying at his residence for about a week but due to ongoing arguments wanted him to leave. Officers spoke with the other man who was willingly leaving but did not have housing. A representative from Peer Support responded and was able to locate housing for the man, and he collected his property and was transported to the shelter.
–An officer was contacted by Columbiana County Children’s Services at 2:04 p.m. Monday for a report of possible child abuse that occurred in the city. Officers collected information for the report and advised that the matter would be investigated.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 11:26 a.m. Monday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a vehicle with an out-of-state plate was driving down the wrong way of a one-way street. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
–Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Summit Street at 10:26 a.m. Monday for a reported speeding offense. The officer subsequently issued a citation to the driver, whose name was not listed.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department about a juvenile issue at 5:07 p.m. Sunday. They advised that a juvenile neighbor had been locked out of his home and could not contact anyone. They advised that they did contact their mother and that while they didn’t know the juvenile’s name, they were back home safe.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of West Wilson Street at 1:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that when he picked his vehicle up from a shop where it was being worked on, several tools were missing. The incident is on video and information was collected and will be forwarded to the detectives.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of Ash Street with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 10:52 a.m. Sunday for a warrant check. The person in question was taken into custody without incident.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:17 a.m. Sunday regarding another person yelling at them. This is an ongoing issue between the two parties, and both were advised to stop. They were also instructed not to drive past the other’s residence.
–Officers spoke to juveniles out after curfew at 12 a.m. Sunday. All were advised to go home, and that future violations would result in charges.
–Officers responded to the 1000 block of East State Street at 10:39 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer reports. The officers advised the caller that there would be a report filed.
–Officers responded to the 1300 block of Eastview Drive at 9:24 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they had not heard from their father in a day and needed them checked on since they live in Florida. Officers did not observe any activity inside the residence and observed their vehicle to be parked at the house. Officers attempted contact multiple times unsuccessfully, and neighbors advised that the resident had not been seen recently.
–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Fairview Avenue at 8:52 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles acting suspicious in the area. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone unusual.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:24 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that occupants of a vehicle were observed to be arguing. Officers spoke with the driver who advised that their daughter was being “mouthy” and had been grounded.
–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 5:20 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers found the parents to be at home with the children with nothing wrong.
–Officers responded to Centennial Park at 4:50 p.m. Saturday for a reported fight. Officers found multiple individuals had been involved in an altercation. An investigation is ongoing. Trespass notices for the park will be served to the involved parties.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:06 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised they had not spoken to their neighbor since that morning and were concerned due to their health. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who was fine.
–Officers spoke to a person in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue at 11:25 a.m. Saturday for a report of possible shots fired. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the complaint. It was later found that the shots were coming from outside of the city.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 10:05 a.m. Saturday for a report of a possibly intoxicated person driving a vehicle. Officers located the person in question who did not appear to be intoxicated and was not driving the vehicle.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 2:40 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person upset about two bystanders who advised they were going to call the police for an unknown reason. Officers spoke with the person who advised them that there were no calls made and there were no issues.
–Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 1:32 a.m. Saturday regarding issues in the community.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 1:27 a.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers checked the surrounding area but did not locate anything unusual.
–Officers on patrol in the 100 block of Benton Road at 10:31 p.m. Friday observed a vehicle commit a traffic offense, The driver Savanna McKee, 30, Lisbon, was found to be suspended and K-9 Chaz was deployed with contraband and a firearm located. The vehicle’s passenger Jonathan Post Sr., 37, East Liverpool, was placed into custody for an outstanding warrant. McKee was cited for driving under suspension. Additional charges are pending for both.
–Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:55 p.m. for an alleged neighbor dispute. The caller advised that smoke was coming into her apartment through the vents from their neighbor smoking frequently. No smoke was detected in the apartment nor from any vent. The caller advised that this is an ongoing issue and refused to contact the landlord because nothing is ever done about it. She was provided with information about other places to contact to seek assistance.
–Officers on patrol in the 1400 block of Orchard Avenue at 5:03 p.m. Monday observed a large amount of smoke in the air. Officers determined the source of the smoke was people burning leaves. Officers spoke with the people involved, and the fire was extinguished.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 4:23 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile issue. The caller advised that their two sons had been assaulted on the school bus, and that she had spoken to the school, and nothing was done about a prior incident. She advised that she did not want to pursue any charges at that time but wanted officers to speak with the other juvenile’s parents. Officers attempted to speak with them but were advised by another family they had just left. Officers advised they would attempt contact again at a later time.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 3:47 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that someone had unlocked their locking gas cap. The caller was unsure when it may have occurred but requested an extra watch in the area.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. Officers were advised of a juvenile waiting at the bus stop with no adults around. Officers checked the area but did not locate any juveniles.
–Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 3:22 p.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man unknown to them had been at the residence and had wanted to go inside. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of Granite Avenue at 1:30 p.m. Friday for a barking dog complaint. The caller advised that the dog had been barking for several hours. Officers spoke with a babysitter who advised that they would bring the dogs inside.
Columbiana
— Susan Sherrill of Columbiana was issued a zoning violation at 4:54 p.m. Nov. 7 in the 700 block of Fairfield Avenue.
–Police arrested two men at 9:48 p.m. Nov. 6 during a traffic stop in the 46000 block of state Route 14. Joyce Hollins, of Aliquippa, Pa., was charged with open container. Further charges for bribery are being sent for review by the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office. Rickey Smith, 70, of Warren, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Although Hollins was released to a sober friend, Smith was transported to Columbiana County Jail.
— A patron of Wine Connection tried to pay with a $100 “movie money” bill at 3:41 p.m. Nov. 5.
— A cell phone was turned into police lost and found at 1:39 p.m. Nov. 3 near the Pewter Peddler.
— Police made two trips to an address in the first block of Ashli Lane Nov. 2. In addition to performing a welfare checks at 7:39 p.m, officers did successfully serve a failure to appear warrant out of Mahoning County at a few hours later.
— A female subject reported a burglary that occurred in the first block of Beechwood Drive overnight Nov. 2.
Washingtonville
— Robin Williamson, of Salem, was cited at 11:01 a.m. Nov. 15 in the 900 block of state Route 14, after she rear-ended a vehicle in front of her. That driver was treated at the scene and released. Williamson was transported to St. Elizabeth’s in Boardman by Green Township EMS.
