— Officers responded to the area of Newgarden Avenue and Liberty Avenue at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a bent telephone pole. Officers located the pole and found that it had been completely severed near the base from an apparent crash sometime prior to the report. The fire department and Ohio Edison were contacted and requested to respond.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Lundy Avenue at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the resident, who advised that the grandchild had the phone, and the call was accidental.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 8 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute between two men. The man advised that there was a verbal altercation at the Dollar General on West State Street with a known person. He just wanted the matter reported at that time.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Seventh Street at 6:46 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Salem humane officer. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Street at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a juvenile. Officers spoke with the juvenile and the parent, and they advised that everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that they had received messages from another woman about haring herself and blaming the caller’s friend and wanting to beat them up. Officers asked to see the messages, but the caller advised that they deleted them prior to officers’ arrival. The caller also wanted a wellness check on the woman but didn’t know where she lived, nor her phone number.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday about having an officer stand by for a civil transaction at the police department. The person was advised that an officer could standby for the transaction at the police department to keep the peace but could not get involved in the civil matter. Both parties later met at the department, and the civil matter was handled without incident.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday to deliver a message. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone to deliver the message.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday to check for a woman with an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spoke with the woman, Jennifer Brown, 68, Salem, and took her into custody and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that a person who had been trespassed from the business kept calling and requesting a refund, despite having the company’s policies explained to them. Officers attempted to contact the person in question, but the call was declined, and a voicemail was left.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Seventh Street at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman having a mental break down. The woman advised that two unknown men had entered her residence and stayed there for two days. The woman couldn’t give a description of either man and just said that they left to get a pizza. The woman also advised that her doctor had put her on a new medication which they advised could cause hallucinations and that they weren’t feeling well and were afraid everyone was out to get them. Officers requested EMT respond and the woman was transported to the hospital.
