Sheriff’s Office
— A man on Unity Line Road, Unity Township, reported at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday that per his bank, he put a check in the mailbox at the New Waterford Post Office, West Main Street, New Waterford, for $3,708 made out to Capital One and someone cashed the check at an unknown different bank.
— A woman on Unity Line Road, Unity Township, reported at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday that on Jan. 3, someone entered her unlocked shed and stole a chainsaw and multiple tools.
— A representative of Mahoning County Habitat for Humanity, Youngstown, requested a welfare check at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday on a man on Apples Way Drive, Fairfield Township. A staff member had gone to the residence and the man was not answering the door. A deputy spoke with the man, who was fine and said he would make contact with the staff member from Habitat for Humanity.
— A Metz Road, Fairfield Township resident reported at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday that her garage door keeps opening and closing on its own and she wanted the property checked. A deputy checked the property and had no contact with anyone. The garage motor was unplugged by the resident.
— A woman on East Fourth Street, East Liverpool reported at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday that she has a no contact order filed on her out of Columbiana County Municipal Court to have no contact with her ex-boyfriend in Wayne Township. She said her vehicle is parked on his property. She was advised to contact an attorney.
— A Knox Township resident on Case Road called at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday to report hearing a fully automatic rifle being fired in the area multiple times. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anything.
— Deputies were dispatched at 8:05 p.m. Jan. 1 to a residence on Wells Hollow Road, Yellow Creek Township, regarding an alleged assault. Deputies spoke with both people involved and after a brief investigation, one of the people was taken into custody. Dale Kenneth Lefebvre, 55, Wells Hollow Road, Wellsville, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for allegedly grabbing a woman and throwing her at a coffee table after an argument, causing a deep cut to her forehead when her head hit the corner of the table. Lefebvre already appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court, with a preliminary hearing set today.
Highway Patrol
— Hunter Farnsworth, of Danbury Avenue in Wellsville, was not cited at 10:16 a.m. Dec. 14 as the result of a crash in Yellow Creek Township. He was southbound on state Route 45, when he went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
— Timothy Fryfogle, of Canfield, was cited at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 15 in Middleton Township for failure to control, after his eastbound vehicle traveled off the right side of Pancake Clarkson Road and struck a mailbox.
— Marcus Kelly, of state Route 45 in Wellsville, was cited at 2:16 p.m. Dec. 15 in Madison Township, after his eastbound vehicle went off the right side of Cameron Road and struck a tree.
— Robert Morin, of state Route 39 in Wellsville, was not cited at 4:39 p.m. Dec. 15 in Madison Township, after his southbound vehicle went off the right side of Cameron Road and struck a ditch.
— David Yeaples, of state Route 17 in East Palestine, was not cited at 10:16 a.m. Dec. 15 in Unity Township, after his southbound vehicle hit a piece of concrete lying on state Route 170 while he was driving.
— Robert Brooks, of Monticello Place in East Liverpool, was cited at 12:32 p.m. Dec. 17 in Middleton Township, after he struck a vehicle driven by Kathleen Phillips, of Summit Drive in East Liverpool after crossing left of center on Sprucevale Road and struck a a rock and mailbox before overturning.
— William Williams, of Newton Falls, was cited at 4:37 p.m. Dec. 16 for a left of center violation in Butler Township, after traveling over the center line and striking Marilyn Erio, of Depot Road in Lisbon, while traveling southbound on Depot Road.
— Daryl Hersh, of North Market Street, was cited at 3:16 p.m. Dec. 18 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance at 6:16 p.m. Dec. 18 in Unity Township, after rear-ending a vehicle driven by Dennis Massey, state Route14 in New Waterford when Massey stopped to make a left turn on state Route 14.
— Juanita Barber, of Sprucevale Road in East Liverpool, was cited for a left of center violation at 7:27 a.m. Dec. 24 in Middleton Township, after her vehicle traveled over the center line on Sprucevale Road and struck Erin Moeller, of North Yuma Trail in Negley.
— Jordan Palmer, of Christian Place in East Liverpool, was cited at 8:41 a.m. Dec. 22 in Middleton Township for failure to control, after he was northbound on Sprucevale Road, failed to negotiate a curve and went off the left side of the road before striking a concrete steps and mailbox.
— Matthew Kern, of state Route 344 in Leetonia, was cited at 7:22 p.m. Dec. 21 in Salem Township for failure to control, after his southbound vehicle went left of center and traveled off the left side of the Grafton Road before striking a mailbox and tree.
Leetonia
— An alarm drop was reported at 7:32 a.m. Jan. 4 . The building was secure.
— Police investigated an audible alarm drop at 9:09 a.m. Jan. 3 at Leetonia post office. A keyholder responded.
— An officer responded to Horizon Homes to speak with a patient, who was alleging that the facility had bed bugs. The woman had been diagnosed with several mental health illnesses and wanted to go somewhere else. She was informed that if she wanted to relocate that she needed to talk to her mother, who had guardianship over her.
— Officers referred an animal welfare complaint to the county’s humane agent, after investigating a complaint at an undisclosed address at 1:38 p.m. Jan. 4.
— Another alarm drop was reported at 2:39 a.m. Jan. 1 at the Shell gas station in the 300 block of Columbia. Everything appeared secure.
— Police responded to the OSI for an alarm drop at 10:52 a.m. Dec. 31. It appeared to have been triggered by a bird flying around inside, so an officer opened the window and the bird flew out.
Columbiana
— Michael Paterchek, no address listed, was cited at 6:10 p.m. Jan. 3 for driving under suspension near state routes 7 and 14.
— Kendall Lewis, of Columbiana, was arrested at 10:31 p.m. Dec. 29 on a warrant out of Stark County.
— City police are investigating a minor hit-skip crash shortly before 12:17 p.m. Dec. 29 at the intersection of state Routes 14 and 46.
