Sheriffs Office

— A deputy responded at 8:37 p.m. Saturday to the American Legion in Glenmoor on Y & O Road, East Liverpool, for a traffic complaint, with a person calling to report his driveway was blocked and EMS almost hit a few cars on the road. The supervisor of the American Legion was contacted, an announcement was made and the vehicles were moved.

— A deputy returned a call at 3:57 p.m. Saturday regarding a civil matter on Ridge Road, West Township. The deputy spoke with both parties involved and advised them how to proceed.

— A protection order out of Mahoning County was served at 1:57 p.m. Saturday against a person on Lake Point Drive, Knox Township.

— A resident on Y & O Road, Madison Township reported at 10:09 p.m. Friday that a man in a black Chevy Cavalier with tinted windows arrived at his residence asking all kinds of questions about himself and the property. The man left and the resident wanted a report on file.

— A man on Roberts Road, Fairfield Township reported at 8:26 p.m. Friday that multiple drones were in the sky flying close to his residence.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:47 p.m. Friday to the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center for an alarm drop, checking all doors and windows and finding the building secure with no signs of forced entry.

— Columbiana County child protective services requested a welfare check at 5:20 p.m. Friday on a 5-year-old juvenile at a residence on Pleasant View Drive, Center Township. The deputy had no contact with the child or guardian at the residence, but did talk to the guardian via phone who said they weren’t at the residence and the child was fine.

— A man from Beaver Falls, Pa. reported at 3:21 p.m. Friday that his cell phone was stolen from L & M Greenhouse, Columbiana Waterford Road, Fairfield Township and the cell phone was showing a location on South Elm Street, Columbiana. Columbiana Police checked the location with no contact.

— A deputy was dispatched at 5:56 p.m. Friday to state Route 518, Wayne Township for a found property report. The deputy confiscated the property, which was an Ohio license plate, and attempts were made to contact the owner, with no contact made at that time.

— A deputy was dispatched at 8:54 p.m. Thursday to Bower Road, Minerva for a domestic violence report. Warrants were issued for domestic violence and aggravated menacing out of county Municipal Court against Christina M. Falconer, 49, Bower Road, Minerva, who was arraigned on multiple charges Monday, including domestic violence, aggravated menacing and menacing.

— A man on Glasgow Road, Wayne Township reported at 8:22 p.m. Thursday that a fraudulent invoice from Walmart for $62 was mailed to him.

— A resident on McCloskey Road, Unity Township reported at 3:36 p.m. Thursday that someone took the hinges off of his gate to gain access to his property. He said no one has permission to be on his property.

— A deputy was dispatched at 3:21 p.m. Thursday to the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, state Route 45, Center Township for a welfare check on a man whose door on his vehicle was hanging open. The deputy spoke with the man of Hanoverton who said he was fine and there were no issues.

Salem

–Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 10:03 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. A person had made suicidal comments and was transported by EMT.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 5:59 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised their husband had returned home and struck their vehicle with his own. Snow had since fallen, and there were no signs of a vehicle coming anywhere near hers and had been caused by a previous incident. The caller was advised to contact officers if there were any further issues and to seek other living arrangements if the relationship was unfit.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of West State Street at 3:31 p.m. Sunday for a reported protection order violation. The caller advised a person she has a protection order against had been behind their residence today and said something to their children. Officers located the person in question, Jose Diaz, 43, Alliance, who confirmed that he had been near the residence but stated that they believed they had not violated the protection order. Officers took Diaz into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail charged with violating a protection order.

–Officers responded to Centennial Park at 3:04 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a person who had fallen while walking their dog. Officers located the person in question who advised they were fine and did not need assistance.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 9:27 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised she and her husband were involved in a verbal dispute and he had purposely struck one of the vehicles in the driveway before leaving. Officers took photos of the incident and left a statement form for the caller to fill out.

–Officers responded to the area of Butcher Road and Egypt Road at 9:02 a.m. Sunday for a possible roll-over accident. Officers located the accident outside the city limits, checked the driver for injuries, and stood by until the Ohio State Highway State Patrol arrived and took over the scene.

–Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of East State Street at 1:42 a.m. Sunday for an equipment violation. Further investigation found the driver, Brandy Virden, 47, Salem, was intoxicated. He was transported to the police department for processing. Virden was cited for OVI, and lighted lights required and released to a sober friend.

–Officers spoke to a person by phone at 10:12 p.m. Saturday regarding a report of harassment. The caller advised a person keeps sending him threatening texts and he would like the incident documented.

–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Pershing Street at 6:46 p.m. Saturday for a complaint of harassment. The caller advised a person had been making threats toward his friend and was sending threatening text messages. The caller was advised to relay the threats to his friend and the incident was documented.

–Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 6:35 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious odor. The caller advised a strong odor of marijuana was coming from a neighboring apartment. A very mild odor was detected in the hallway but could not be traced to a specific apartment. The caller did not want to be contacted and the issue was civil between the landlord and possible tenant.

–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Pershing Street at 5:38 p.m. Saturday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised the person in question was intoxicated and causing problems. Officers asked the person and their friend to leave, which they did. While on scene officers were advised that a large fight was going on inside and re-entered to see several men on the floor fighting who were detained. A few of the men involved had injuries and first responders were contacted, but all parties refused medical attention and did not want to pursue charges. Officers advised the establishment to close down for the evening and for everybody to leave.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 3:49 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised the neighbor had asked to use her trash can earlier in the week but had not returned it. Officers spoke with the neighbor who advised he would empty the can and return it to the caller.

–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:25 p.m. Saturday about an incident allegedly occurring outside the city. Officers spoke with the caller and advised of the proper agency to contact.

–Officers on patrol in the 400 block of Franklin Street at 12:12 p.m. Saturday observed a large amount of smoke from behind a residence in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue. Officers checked the area and found an illegally-sized fire behind the residence. The fire department was contacted and responded to extinguish the fire. The person starting the fire was issued a warning for illegal burning.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 11:49 a.m. Saturday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised his ex-girlfriend was causing a disturbance and he wanted her to leave. Officers spoke with the person in question, and due to sharing children, both parties were advised to speak later when their emotions are under control.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 11:46 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the involved parties and explained the domestic violence laws to them.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:18 a.m. Saturday for a report of two dogs at large. Officers located the animals in question and found that they had been caught by two citizens. The dogs were placed into the back of the patrol car and taken to the station. The dogs were identified and turned over to the Humane Officer who took them back to their residence and turned them over to the owner’s son. Charges are pending.

–Officers on patrol struck a deer which ran into the roadway in front of their cruiser at 3:09 a.m. Saturday. The deer struck the left front of the cruiser’s grill causing minor damage before getting up and fleeing. Photos were taken of the damage.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 3:06 a.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person inside a business. The owner of the property advised a person had been seen laying on a bench and possibly throwing up in a trash can, and requested they be removed. Officers spoke with the person, Noah Bickley, 18, finding he had an active warrant out of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and took Bickley into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of North Madison Avenue at 1:33 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised their estranged life had lit something in her home to “fend off evil spirits.” Officers spoke with the wife, who showed officers that she had lit incense which had since been put out and there were no issues.

–Officers located a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a private business in the 2500 block of East State Street at 11:13 p.m. Friday. Officers spoke with the driver who advised he had stopped to take a break and was back on his way to see his girlfriend.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 8:56 p.m. Friday for a reported person with a gun. The caller advised a person had made a comment about grabbing a gun and left the building for their truck. The person left prior to officers’ arrival and no additional information was given. The caller did not want to speak with officers further.

–Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 5:18 p.m. Friday for a report of trespassing. The caller advised they wanted the people in question trespassed from the property. Officers advised them of the same and that they could face criminal charges if they returned. They advised that they understood.

–Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding telecommunications harassment at 3:40 p.m. Friday. They advised a man was contacting her despite blocking his phone number and blocking him on social media and wanted him to stop. Officers did not see any threats in the messages they provided and advised her that the case would be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

–The School Resource Officer spoke with a parent about an issue with their daughter at 2:25 p.m. Friday. They were advised of the issue, why it happened, and their options if they chose to pursue the matter legally.

–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:25 a.m. Friday about an issue concerning a vehicle that she had sold. The caller was advised of their options for dealing with the situation.

–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:15 a.m. Friday for an animal complaint. The caller advised that one of the neighborhood dogs is running loose, and that it is an ongoing problem. The caller was advised of some options for dealing with the situation.

–Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Union Avenue at 7:39 a.m. Friday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers removed a piece of concrete, and the street department was requested to check the roadway for potential issues.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Bethel Drive at 1:40 a.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. Officers were able to get the person to leave and gave them a courtesy transport to their residence.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Goshen Road at 12:06 a.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that his motion light wasn’t working and the door was stuck. Officers advised him to use his garage door opener and that the handle might be bad.

— Joni Allego, 70, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after they failed to yield from a stop sign and struck another vehicle at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and Snyder Road at 2:35 p.m. Feb. 17.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 11:15 a.m. Feb. 17 for a report of telephone harassment. The caller advised that an old friend had threatened them on social media. While reviewing the messages, officers did not locate any direct threats toward the caller. Officers then responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street to speak with the person in question and advised him to stop contacting the caller.
