Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 10:49 p.m. Thursday to Family Dollar, state Route 172, Hanover township, for an alarm. All windows and doors were secure at ground level.

— A deputy responded at 4:13 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Mahoning Avenue, Knox Township, for an open 911 line. The homeowner said the number does not belong to anyone at the residence.

— Illegal dumping was reported at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Slater Road, Butler Township, for a septic truck with a hose going into the creek, possibly dumping waste. A deputy responded and checked the creek, but could not see or smell anything.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday to the 33100 block of Baker Road, Hanover Township, for an open 911 line. The deputy checked the area but had no contact with anyone.

— A report was sent to Child Protective Services after a deputy was dispatched at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday to state Route 45, Center Township for a juvenile-related call.

— Deputies responded at 7:10 p.m. March 1 to Center Street, Lisbon regarding a civil matter. Deputies spoke to all parties involved and advised a report would be on file.

— A deputy checked the area of McIntosh Road, Madison Township regarding an animal-related call at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 27 for horses walking down the road. No horses were found after a check of the area.

— A hit-skip accident was reported at the Swift Mart, state Route 14, Unity Township at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26. A deputy collected photos of the vehicle damaged.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:23 a.m. Thursday for a reported fight. The fight had already dispersed before officers arrived, and officers spoke with both the involved parties and witnesses and advised them all to come to the department and fill out statements the next day as everyone was under the influence. Officers requested camera footage from the business but were advised that the cameras were not working. Officers also advised all parties they were not welcome at the business for the rest of the night as requested by the owner.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 11:54 p.m. Thursday for a reported noise complaint. Officers spoke with the caller, who advised that they would turn the music down.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 9:42 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that he had his firearms stolen out of his vehicle. Officers gathered information and the firearm was entered as stolen.

— Officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and West Second Street at 9:08 p.m. Thursday. Officers conducted a traffic stop and K-9 Fero was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. Contraband was located in the vehicle and the driver, Nicole Dean, 43, Salem, was taken into custody charged with drug paraphernalia and released with a court summons.

— Officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of West State Street and South Howard Avenue at 6:13 p.m. Thursday. Officers conducted a traffic stop and K-9 Fero was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. The driver was issued a written warning.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 4:47 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers found that a husband and wife had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical and the female half had visible physical injuries. The male half, John Bright, Salem, was taken into custody charged with domestic violence and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue at 3:25 p.m. Friday for a report of fraud. The manager at Chase Bank advised that a woman walked into the bank and tried to withdraw a large amount of money from a savings account and they had received an email from two other Chase Bank locations about a woman attempting to get money from the same account and advising them to contact the police. When the manager was calling 911 the woman ran out of the bank and into a waiting car and left the area. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers spoke with a man at the police department at 9:03 a.m. Thursday regarding a missing woman. The man advised that the woman, who is his daughter, had not been heard from in a couple of weeks. A BOLO was sent out to law enforcement agencies in the area to check on the woman in question if they were seen.

Columbiana

— Britton Steiginga, of New Waterford, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Feb. 28 on state Route 14 on a charge of obstructing official business, after a traffic stop.

— Kyle Esper and Kristi Sforzo, both of Parma, are arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia at 4:47 p.m. Feb. 28, in the 14000 block of South Avenue.

— Jeffery Zalick, of East Palestine, was cited at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 26 for driving-under suspension, after a traffic stop on state Route 14.

— Michael Harroff, of Columbiana, was cited at 10:27 a.m. Feb. 24 in the 200 block of state Route 14 for driving under suspension and no tail lights.

— Catherine Sayre, of East Liverpool, was cited at 11:09 a.m. Feb. 24 in the 300 block of North Main Street with driving under suspension.

— Janlee Manypenny, of Salem, was cited at 9:19 p.m. Feb. 28 with driving under suspension in the area of state Routes 7 and 14 following a traffic stop.

Lisbon

— The K-9 officer was dispatched to assist sheriff’s deputies with attempting to locate a fleeing suspect shortly before 1 a.m. Feb. 23 in the 6600 block of state Route 170 in East Palestine.

— Police responded at 6:52 p.m. March 1 to Smith Oil for a report of a possible counterfeit $20 bill.

— Police responded at 9:38 p.m. Feb. 28 to a downtown restaurant for a 911 hang-up call, found everything was okay and cleared.

— Officers investigated a noise disturbance at 9:57 p.m. Feb. 27 in the 400 block of West Washington, which had been reported as juveniles threatening each other. Upon arrival, there was no sign of the juveniles.

— An unidentified man reported at 12:57 a.m. March 3 that he was approached by a suspicious person driving a “greenish, brownish, grayish dark colored truck” that offered him a ride. He provided a partial license plate and a report was put on file.

— A resident in the 100 block of South Green Street trespassed four people from his address. All parties were notified shortly after 3:52 p.m. March 1.

East Palestine

— Police responded at 5:29 p.m. Feb. 27 to the 600 block of Jackson Street to investigate parking issues and noted the condition of a nearby vacant structure in violation of several zoning law. A complaint was forwarded to the city’s zoning officer for further investigation.

— A unsupervised child was noted inside a vehicle parked in the front of Dollar General at 9:12 p.m. Feb. 27. The child’s guardian exited the business and was informed of the dangers associated with leaving the child alone event for a short amount of time.

— A female complainant reported at 10:05 a.m. Feb. 28 that an unknown subject came to her South Washington Street resident and had been banging on her door and windows between 3 and 5 a.m for the last three days.

— Police arrived at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 28 to a residence in the 400 block of West Main Street and removed an unwanted male subject and provided him with a courtesy transport to a friend’s place across town.

— George Faulkner Jr., was served at 6:40 pm. March 2 with an active warrant for telecommunications harassment while reporting harassment by another subject.

— James C. Bollinger and Shawna Lewis, no addresses provided, were arrested at 10:24 p.m. March 2 on charges of domestic violence for a dispute that had began in the 3800 block of West Main Street and concluded in New Waterford.
