Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded at 9:49 p.m. Sunday to Grant Street, Lisbon for one to be removed and spoke to people inside the residence and identified them, learning that one of them gave a false name and had an active warrant out of Alabama. Christopher Henderson, 39, Grant Street, Lisbon, was taken into custody on a charge of obstructing official business. He appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday, with a pretrial set for June 1. An affidavit said the active warrant out of Alabama was for failure to register as a sex offender. A woman identified at the residence was transported to a hospital by EMS due to medical issues.
— A deputy was advised at 6:26 p.m. Sunday by dispatch that a West Township resident had a question regarding a civil matter. The deputy advised dispatch of the answer, which was relayed to the caller.
— Suspicious activity was reported on state Route 45, Center Township at 8:19 p.m. Saturday. The caller only wanted a report on file.
— A deputy responded at 4:25 a.m. Friday to Taggart Street Extension, Unity Township for a commercial alarm, but arrived and found the business was operating and employees were working.
— Deputies were dispatched at 2:19 a.m. Friday to the Roger’s Sale, state Route 154, Elkrun Township, for an active alarm in one of the buildings. Deputies were in the area due to another call and responded within moments. The building was checked and all doors and windows appeared to be secure.
— A menacing report for a property on Plymouth Street, Hanoverton was taken at 6:55 p.m. March 12, with the caller advised how to proceed.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 1:57 a.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that the basement light was on in the house across the street from them, which is listed for sale. Officers located an open back door and checked the interior of the residence, finding nobody inside. Officers secured the door.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties, which were already separated, and it was advised that the dispute was verbal only, and both parties agreed to stay separate for the remainder of the evening.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday for a reported civil dispute over a credit card. Officers advised the parties in question that it was a civil issue.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Jennings Avenue at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal damage. The caller advised that a family member had broken a window after being told to leave the house. The caller did not want to pursue charges but did want the family member trespassed from the property. While attempting to speak with the family member, the caller contacted dispatch and advised that they did not want to have them trespassed anymore.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday to assist EMT with a patient. Officers stood by briefly until it was found there was no issue.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday for a reported verbal altercation between residents.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday for a reported unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The caller advised that their vehicle was taken from her residence on Friday by a person known to her. The caller advised her that she had no contact with the person since then and had no idea where the vehicle was. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with an eviction. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
Perry Township
— Officers on patrol in the area of state Route 45 near Newgarden Avenue at 1:24 a.m. Monday located a sheet of plywood in the roadway. Officers removed the plywood and cleared the roadway without incident.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of state Route 9 and Conser Drive at 2:26 a.m. Sunday for a lane violation. Officers found the driver, Brittany Smith, 35, Salem, to be operating a vehicle impaired with a blood alcohol content of .167, and she was charged with OVI.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 6:15 p.m. Saturday about an ongoing issue with their neighbor’s chickens getting loose and coming onto her property. The caller was advised to take a video or pictures of the chickens on her property and to call the next time it occurs.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:15 a.m. Saturday to follow up on an alleged assault that occurred on March 8, 2026.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Benton Road at 10:45 a.m. Saturday for a report of two vehicles with their tires cut. Officers spoke with the parties involved, and the incident remains under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:54 a.m. Saturday for a report of a juvenile using his grandmother’s credit card for online purchases. Officers spoke with all parties involved, and the incident will be sent for review.
— Officers responded to the area of West Pigeon Road at 3:57 p.m. Friday for a reported tree down in the roadway. Officers removed the tree from the roadway.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 3:17 p.m. Friday for a reported verbal dispute. The caller advised that she was told she had to vacate the property by her boyfriend. Officers explained that it was a civil matter that must be conducted through the court.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 2:26 a.m. Friday for an ongoing civil issue. The caller wanted officers to document that his live-in ex-girlfriend placed his belongings outside, told him he was not allowed to eat anything in the house, and attempted to lock him out.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Main Street at 8:27 p.m. March 10 for a wellness check on a juvenile. Everything checked okay.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 14 at 6:22 p.m. March 10 for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Leetonia
— Officers investigated a disturbance at 2:34 p.m. March 10 in the 200 block of Oak Street, where a resident alleged someone was running across his roof and jumping onto his garage. Police explained no one was there and that it was the wind, cautioning him to keep the noise down for the neighbors.
— Police responded at 9:16 p.m. March 14 for a reported gas leak in the 200 block of Main Street. No gas leak was detected, although the officer located a burning smell from a small fire pit in the area.
— An officer responded to a burning complaint shortly before 1 p.m. March 14 in the 100 block of Bears Den, where a neighbor put out the fire pit, which was blowing onto his neighbor’s property. The village, like all of Ohio, was on a burn ban.
— While sitting stationary on Industry Street at 9:43 p.m. March 14, a village police officer noticed a white Ford Mustang traveling west bound on state Route 344 in excess of 100 mph. After attempting to stop the vehicle with lights and sirens activated, the officer observed the driver traveling on Jersey Ridge Road. Salem also had notified Columbiana dispatch they had a similar vehicle in their jurisdiction but officials were unable to confirm it was the same subject.
— Downed lines were reported at 4:42 p.m. March 13 near Leetonia High School, where police provided traffic control as firefighters removed the lines.
— A female caller reported via phone at 3:52 p.m. March 15 that she had borrowed $15 from her identified “weed dealer,” never paying him back, and he was demanding she do so. An officer advised her to meet him at the police department with an officer present. The report didn’t reflect that transaction ever took place at the LPD.
— Downed lines were reported at 11:50 a.m. March 17 in the 400 block of Pearl Street.
— A drunk driver was reported at 8:40 p.m. March 17 by a Dairy Queen employee working the drive-thru who saw an open container of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle in the 300 block of Columbia Street. No additional information was available for the officer responding to the call.
— Police provided a welfare check at 7:34 p.m. March 15 on a resident of the 200 block in Oak Street.
— Avery Phillips, Matthew Huston and Drayvan Huston were given verbal trespass warnings for “jumping fences” at 3:47 p.m. March 16 at the Leetonia K-12 building in the 400 block of Walnut Street. The trio was not juveniles like earlier thought.
Lisbon
— Police investigated an alarm drop at 7:47 a.m. March 2 at the Columbiana County government building on Dickey Drive.
— An officer responded at 9:46 p.m. March 3 to Save A Lot parking lot for a parking complaint.
— Danny Cataldo Jr., no address listed, was served with a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 7:09 p.m. March 6 in the area of Smith Oil.
— An officer responded at 2:58 p.m. March 8 to the vape shop in the 300 block of North Market Street, where a male subject wanted a refund for a discounted item that he alleged wouldn’t charge despite posted signage. The shop owner was told to call if the unknown subject returned.
