Against Issue One

To the editor: I recently received a flyer in the mail urging us to vote “yes” on Issue One. She stated that “as a pediatrician, it’s my job to protect children.” But, yet, she wants us to enable her to kill unborn babies which is exactly what abortion is! Where does she think children come from? Unborn babies will eventually become “children!” I urge everybody to study the language of Issue One and vote “NO!” If Issue One passes, may God have mercy on us! MARTY VEBELUN, Lisbon

Ohioans could see lower heating bills

To the editor: As we prepare to embrace the colder months, it brings me great pleasure to inform my fellow Ohioans that we can look forward to lower energy bills this winter, thanks to the affordable, essential natural energy produced right here in our great state. The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released their ‘Winter Fuels Outlook’, it predicts that U.S. Households will see a drop in their energy costs this winter. The use of natural gas, in particular, has significantly contributed to reducing energy costs for households across our state and country. Approximately ...

To the editor: I am voting in favor the Salem School Levy and I urge other voters to vote YES on the Salem City School District Bond Issue and Tax Levy. To the editor: As we are hearing and seeing more ads both for and against the marijuana legislation, let me speak to what we are seeing and reading here at Family Recovery Center: According to national reports, alcohol is the most widely used substance by teenagers and for drugs, marijuana has the highest prevalence. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reports marijuana use among youth and adolescents is a major public health concern. In 2019 roughly one in eight adolescents ages 12-17 — 13% —used marijuana in the last year; and four in 10 high school students reported ...

There should be a better way to handle the marijuana issue

To the editor: With all of the problems we are having with alcohol across the country, now we want to legalize recreational marijuana. Spectrum News, had a panel discussion on Issue 2 with some interesting facts. The Woodstock weed from the 60’s had a THC content of 4 to 5%. The manufacturers today of legalized marijuana will be capped at 35% THC rate in Ohio. Four out of ten people who start out with marijuana go on to harder drugs. A mother on the panel said her son smoked marijuana every day, and went on to develop a psychosis, seeing and hearing things that were not there. ...
