Praises Lisbon Mayor Wilson

To the editor: Over the past four years, Mayor Peter Wilson has done many positive things for Lisbon. His actions speaker louder than words. Mayor Wilson is present and available in his office, holding other offices to the same standard. He is intelligent and thoughtful while searching and finding government grants to fund improvements. His planning goes years into the future. If physical exertion is needed, Mayor Wilson takes initiative and does things himself. Among other activities, he weed whacks under the guardrail at the city limits and also does plants and spreads mulch on the ...

Against Issue One

To the editor: I recently received a flyer in the mail urging us to vote “yes” on Issue One. She stated that “as a pediatrician, it’s my job to protect children.” But, yet, she wants us to enable her to kill unborn babies which is exactly what abortion is! Where does she think children come from? Unborn babies will eventually become “children!” I urge everybody to study the language of Issue One and vote “NO!” If Issue One passes, may God have mercy on us! MARTY VEBELUN, Lisbon

Ohioans could see lower heating bills

To the editor: As we prepare to embrace the colder months, it brings me great pleasure to inform my fellow Ohioans that we can look forward to lower energy bills this winter, thanks to the affordable, essential natural energy produced right here in our great state. Letter writers in favor of Salem Schools Levy passage

To the editor: I am voting in favor the Salem School Levy and I urge other voters to vote YES on the Salem City School District Bond Issue and Tax Levy. The combination of a state grant and the Salem Community Foundation’s generous $10 million commitment toward the local share of the bond is a fabulous deal for property owners and an historic gift to Salem school-age children for generations to come. Now is the time for us to show our support for Salem’s children by voting YES for the school levy on the November ballot. Our elder son had positive educational experiences at ...

I also coached the Varsity Girls’ Track and Field Team for 17 years and continue to advise the Salem High School Key Club. I feel that I am one of the best ...

Points to consider regarding Ohio Issue 2

To the editor: As we are hearing and seeing more ads both for and against the marijuana legislation, let me speak to what we are seeing and reading here at Family Recovery Center: According to national reports, alcohol is the most widely used substance by teenagers and for drugs, marijuana has the highest prevalence. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reports marijuana use among youth and adolescents is a major public health concern. In 2019 roughly one in eight adolescents ages 12-17 — 13% —used marijuana in the last year; and four in 10 high school students reported ...
