To the editor: You might imagine how life has been turned upside down for the residents of East Palestine. Having lived in town for 31 years, I can assure you it has. I have been frustrated with just about everything from the railroad company to our federal government. I am writing to brag on the people who have so generously helped. Suggests using solar panels in East Palestine

To the editor: Regardless of what is done to remediate the soil in East Palestine, there will always be a lurking doubt. Earth can heal itself with time. Using solar panels to create income until that time comes seems logical. Solar panels don’t care about soil quality, they are simply looking for sun. Salem mayor addresses residents

To the editor: Residents of Salem and interested parties, I recently delivered the State of the City Report to Salem City Council. I would like to present that report to you. Because it is lengthy, I will submit part one today. At the end of 2021, our General Fund carryover was $1,464,360.40. We collected $5,666,145.36 to the General Fund in 2022. Unfortunately, our general expenses for 2022 totaled $6,029,049.33. This left our carryover at $1,101,456.43 at the end of 2022. Ban would be infringement on private property rights

To the editor: On February 15 the Columbiana County Commissioners held a public hearing on a proposed ban on “large solar facilities” and “large wind farms” in the unincorporated parts of Fairfield, Franklin, Perry, and West Townships. The trustees in these townships passed resolutions requesting that the commissioners adopt their own resolution to implement the ban. I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposed ban.
