Golden Eagles spike Valley

HANOVERTON — United wrapped up Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play with a convincing 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 win over Valley Christian on Monday.

The Eagles won for the 11th time in the last 12 matches to improve to 16-4 overall and 12-2 in the EOAC, second behind Columbiana.

Aurianna Cusick had six kills, three digs and an ace, while Karleigh Kooser had four aces and two kills. Marin Stryffeler had seven aces and two digs.

United also won the junior varsity match, 25-5, 25-12.

Scarlett Courtney had 16 points and 10 aces. Brennan Ritchie had seven points and three aces. Kenley Landgraver had seven points.

United will play East Liverpool and Edison on Thursday at the Potter Fieldhouse.

Boardman 3, Crestview 2

BOARDMAN — Crestview’s volleyball team lost for the third time in four tries with a 25-19, 17-25, 26-24, 19-25, 15-13 loss to Boardman on Monday.

Rebel senior Lainy Auer led the charge with a school-record 46 kills. She also had three aces and 28 digs. Sophia Stewart had 57 assists and 18 digs. Sophia Noling had 15 kills, while Kerrigan Miller had 21 digs. Sophia Dattilio had four blocks.

Boardman has beaten East Liverpool, West Branch and Salem this season as well.

The Rebels are 17-3 and host LaBrae today. LaBrae can clinch a share of the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Division with a win over the Rebels. Crestview has already clinch a share of the league title and leads by a match over the Vikings and Garfield in the standings.

Crestview won the jayvee match over Boardman 14-25, 26-24, 25-16. The Rebels (18-2) were led by Phiatra Bradley’s 13 kills and Haley Boano’s 26 digs. Kelsey Houp added nine kills and 16 digs.

Crestview won the freshman portion 25-11, 25-8. Addison Finch had nine aces, six kills and 10 assists. Makenna Ray had five kills, four digs and three assists.

Heartland 3, Chaney 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Heartland Christian swept Youngstown Chaney 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 on Monday to improve to 12-8 on the season.

Maddie Neville led the Lions with 10 kills, two aces and six digs. Keagan Pruitt added nine kills, one ace and six digs. Claire Liposky tallied seven kills, one ace and one block. Makenna Wilson contributed eight aces and 18 assists, while Sophia Kuzemchak finished with six digs and eight assists.

Heartland will play at Weirton Madonna today in an OVAC Class 1A semifinal.
