Minerva hosts state semifinal
MINERVA — Two of the top high school football players in Ohio will square off tonight at Minerva High School.
Indian Valley senior running back Grady Kinsey, an Air Force commit, and Cleveland Glenville senior linebacker Cincere Johnson, an Ohio State commit, will lead their teams into a Division IV state semifinal at 7 p.m. at Hines Stadium.
Both are among the eight finalists up for the Ohio Mr. Football Award.
Kinsey has rushed for 2,585 yards and four touchdowns this season. He set state records for most career rushing touchdowns (131) and most touchdowns (135). His 8,489 career yards rushing ranks third in Ohio history.
Johnson leads the Tarblooders with 112 tackles, including 21 for losses and 8 1/2 sacks. He received offers from at least 28 colleges, choosing Ohio State after visiting Penn State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Southern Cal.
Tickets for tonight’s game are $16 for adults and $10 for students.
