Attendance drops
CANTON — Last weekend’s OHSAA football state finals at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium saw a 4% decline in attendance.
The seven state championship games drew 32,750 fans (an average of 4,678 per game), down from 34,222 last season.
The two most attended games were both last Friday with the 6,035 attending the Division I game between Olentangy Orange and Cincinnati St. Xavier and 6,011 at the Division IV game between Cleveland Glenville and Shelby.
Attendance has declined since the first year at the new Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in 2017 when 61,312 fans attended the seven championship games.
LaBrae sweeps Crestview
SALEM –LaBrae swept Crestview in bowling action Friday at Hunt Club Lanes
The Vikings won the boys match, 2412-2354, as Zek Senne had a 255 game for a 436 series. Brody Brubaker topped the Rebels with a 236 game and 460 series.
LaBrae also won the girls match, 1658-1539. Jasmine Hartzell had a 148 game and Jordyan DeSmith a 281 series for the Vikings.
Kylee Wolfe had a 168 game and a 328 series for the Rebels.
Tigers roll
CORTLAND — The Wellsville bowling team had a balanced team effort to beat Maplewood, 2124-1729, Friday at Cortland Lanes.
Leaders for the Tigers were led by William Lockhart with a 214 game and 364 series, Madelyn Landess a 194 game and 361 series,Cameron Raylor a 182 game and 358 series and Makayla Landess a 193 game and 349 series.
The Tigers improve to 5-1 and will host Youngstown East on Wednesday.
