John Carroll in semifinals
MOUNT BERRY, Georgia — John Carroll forced seven turnovers and held Berry College scoreless until the final nine minutes for a 21-13 win in an NCAA Division III quarterfinal on a 68-degree Saturday at Valhalla Stadium.
The Blue Streaks improve to 12-1 as they had five interceptions and recovered two fumbles.
John Carroll advances to the semifinals for the third time and will travel to defending national champion North Central (13-0) in Naperville, Illinois, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Leaders of the John Carroll defense included senior linebacker Mason Rus from Kirtland with nine tackles, including 1 1/2 for losses, and sophomore cornerback Dylan Crasi from Aurora with two interceptions.
Nick Semptimphelter completed 20 of 28 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Tyren Montgomery had nine catches for 126 yards. South Range High School graduate Shane Lindstrom added three catches for 27 yards.
In the other semifinal, University of Wisconsin-River Falls (12-1) will host Johns Hopkins (12-1) on Saturday.
Johns Hopkins is in the semifinals for the third time, including a 45-37 loss at Mount Union last year, while UW-River Falls is making its first appearance.

ALLIANCE — The Mount Union men’s wrestling team dominated Hiram, 49-4, in a non-conference home dual match on Saturday.
Hiram scored first, but the Purple Raiders registered 49 unanswered points, concluding with five straight pins.
Among those recording pins were freshman Aiden Stecker from Salem at 165 pounds, junior Jacob Starkey from South Range at 174 pounds and junior Steven Marra from West Branch at 285 pounds.
Mount Union (5-3) will be at the Gator Boot Duals in Nashville, Tenn., this Saturday.
Rivers falls short in comeback
SEATTLE (AP) — Jason Myers kicked a franchise-record six field goals, including a 56-yarder with 29 seconds left, and the Seattle Seahawks outlasted 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts 18-16 on Sunday. Rivers threw a touchdown pass after coming out of retirement to make his first start in nearly five years, and he led the Colts into position for Blake Grupe’s go-ahead, 60-yard field goal with 47 seconds left.
