West Branch captures 19th win; tournament next

WELLSVILLE — Beaver Local brought its big guns to the Wellsville Buck Bailey Invitational and came away with a first place finish including seven individual titles. The Beavers scored 251 points to Minerva’s 225 to win the tournament. Aviators navigate to top of standings

ALLIANCE — Alliance outscored West Branch by five in the third quarter to help the Aviators to the Eastern Buckeye Conference boys basketball title with a 47-38 win on Saturday. Alliance led 13-9 after the first quarter and 24-21 at the half, but that lead grew to 35-27 at the end of the third quarter. Alliance moved to 19-2 and 9-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. West Branch, Salem to start search for new league

The Eastern Buckeye Conference likely suffered a fatal blow on Friday as three members announced their departure. EBC members Minerva, Marlington and Carrollton announced as part of a joint statement that they will join Claymont, Fairless, Sandy Valley, Tuscarawas Valley and Tuslaw in the formation of a new league.
