EMCH AT PITT PITTSBURGH — Six-foot-4 sophomore Abbey Emch is a regular in the University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team lineup this season. Emch, who starred at Crestview High School, sparked the defensive effort Sunday as she collected four blocks, two digs and two kills in fourth-ranked Pittsburgh's 25-13, 25-21, 25-16 swept of sixth-ranked Wisconsin in the Opening Spike Classic. MCDONALD — Beaver Local senior Luke Warrick and the Beavers’ boys cross country team earned second-place finishes at the Billy Goal Challenge Saturday at Woodland Park. Streetsboro topped the boys team standings with 68 points, followed by Beaver Local with 93. Columbiana was fifth with 140. WALSH WINS OPENER WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The Walsh University football team built a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter and held on to beat West Liberty University, 30-27, in the season opener Thursday night in front o 1,521 fans at Russek Stadium.
