LISBON -- A Pennsylvania man who robbed the Buckeye Pharmacy in Calcutta at gunpoint in 2019 recently filed an appeal to challenge his prison sentence for aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony with a gun specification and having weapons under disability, third-degree felony.
Michael Lukan, 66, Georgetown, Pa., filed the appeal in the Seventh District Court of Appeals. He had been sentenced in January to nine to 13 1/2 years for the aggravated robbery charge and weapons under disability, with an additional three years for the gun specification. That means he must serve at least 12 years.
Lukan entered a guilty plea last fall as part of a plea agreement.
Lukan brandished a handgun when he robbed the store on Nov. 12, 2019. At the time, he was prohibited from possessing a gun due to a previous felony conviction in 1983 in Washington County, Pa. for rape.
A Lisbon man had his probation revoked and was ordered to serve 39 days in jail for fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Richard R. Vecchio, 60, whose current address was listed as the county jail, appeared recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for a probation violation hearing.
He was re-sentenced to 10 months for the assault and 180 days for the resisting arrest, with credit for 261 days already served in jail, leaving a total of 39 days to serve.
Vecchio pleaded guilty in January 2022 to assault and resisting arrest for harming sheriff's office Deputy Kevin Shulas, who was trying to take him into custody on May 1, 2021.

-- David Evans, 33, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, pleaded no contest and was found guilty of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Jan. 3, 2021. He was placed on probation for two years.
-- Dale L. Kinney II, 43, Chester, W.Va., pleaded guilty to two counts possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing set for May 26. Kinney possessed cocaine on Oct. 1, 2021 and April 23, 2022.
-- Derrick Orrell, 46, Morton Street, East Liverpool, pleaded no contest and was found guilty of possession of cocaine, a second-degree felony, with a forfeiture specification for money in a drug case. Sentencing was set for April 21. Orrell possessed $1,866 and cocaine in an amount equal to or exceeding 20 grams but less than 27 grams on April 14, 2021.
-- A motion to suppress and motion to dismiss was overruled in a drug case against Devon Hall, 23, West Park Avenue, Columbiana, charged with possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing the drug on Oct. 8, 2021. A motion for intervention has been filed, with a motions hearing scheduled for May 25.
-- William Marshall IV, 40, Alliance, was sentenced to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of aggravated possession of drugs, with two third-degree felonies and one a fifth-degree felony. He was also fined $5,000. Marshall possessed methamphetamine on Jan. 26, 2021 and possessed both methamphetamine and MDMA on Jan. 27, 2021.
-- Michael Greathouse, 33, Akron, pleaded guilty to importuning, a fifth-degree felony, and fourth-degree felonies of attempted compelling prostitution and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, with sentencing set for June 9. A charge for possessing criminal tools will be dismissed. Greathouse solicited sexual activity with an undercover police officer posing as a 15-year-old female and traveled to Salem for the encounter on April 11, 2022.
-- Alex Porter, 38, Albright Avenue, Columbiana, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felonies of obstructing official business, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of fentanyl-related compound, with sentencing June 2. Porter was accused of giving police a false name while a passenger during a traffic stop March 30, 2022 in Columbiana and took off running after being told to exit the vehicle. He also possessed methamphetamine and fentanyl-related compound
-- David Boggs, 31, West State Street, Salem, pleaded guilty to two counts aggravated trafficking in drugs and a single count of aggravated possession of drugs, both third-degree felonies, aggravated possession of drugs and two counts possession of cocaine, both fifth-degree felonies, and a forfeiture specification for money in a drug case, with sentencing set for June 2. On July 16, 2021, the drugs involved included methamphetamine and cocaine and the forfeiture was for $180.
-- Casey Cunningham, 42, whose addresses were listed as the Frola Motel in Lisbon and Lincoln Avenue, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to numerous drug charge in two separate indictments stemming from March 2022, with sentencing set for March 30. The charges included: two counts of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified government facility, a third-degree felony; two counts aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; two counts possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony; and two counts possession of cocaine, four counts possession of drugs, and possession of heroin, all fifth-degree felonies. The charges also carried specifications for forfeiture of money in a drug case for $1,119. Besides meth, fentanyl-related compound, heroin and cocaine, other drugs noted in the indictments included buprenorphine and alprazolam.
-- Shawn Tremain, 31, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, with a specification for forfeiture of money in a drug case, with sentencing set for March 31. Tremain possessed cocaine and methamphetamine, along with $717, on Nov. 1, 2019 and methamphetamine on April 10, 2021.
-- A motion to suppress was denied for Reese Satterfield, 23, Toledo, whose trial for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, remains set for March 29. Satterfield was accused of possessing methamphetamine on Sept. 13, 2021 during a traffic stop. Defense counsel argued that the stop was longer than normal and violated the defendant's rights, but Judge Scott Washam ruled the stop was justified, noting the defendant gave inconsistent answers to the officer after the stop, did not have a current license and admitted the vehicle might possibly have some marijuana blunts or shake. During a search of his person, a pill was found.
-- Michael Oiler, 58, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, was placed on community control for three years, but ordered to serve 60 days in the county jail, with credit for 13 days served, for non-support of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, for failing to pay child support from May 3, 2020 to May 1, 2022.
-- Deryl Greathouse, 43, Anderson Boulevard, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail after his probation for possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, was dishonorably terminated. The charge stemmed from possessing fentanyl-related compound on May 4, 2019.
-- Kathleen Barnes, 35, Dewey Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed on probation for three years, with up to six months to be served at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in Lisbon, for two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, one a third-degree felony and one a fifth-degree felony. Barnes possessed methamphetamine on Nov. 7, 2020 and April 15, 2022.
