SALEM — If you follow the winding roads and rolling hills of the outskirts of Salem long enough, you’ll come across the quintessential small town boutique.

All the Things at Butler Grange greets its visitors with its antique charm and vast array of goodies–all made or provided by seven different local vendors from the community — spread out across the worn hardwood. Amy Warth and Jodi Kiko opened the boutique at the beginning of November, which everyone told them was a bold move considering the pandemic and the start of a mainly online holiday shopping season.

“Everyone told us we were crazy,” Kiko said. “They all told us, ‘Who opens a business in the middle of a pandemic?’ But we thought it would go.”

Both Kiko and Warth have always wanted to open up a boutique, and the downtime of the pandemic gave them time to brainstorm. They sat down over a cup of coffee and a notebook and the idea of All the Things at Butler Grange was born. The building itself was already owned by Kiko, but it was used mainly for baby showers and other events. The two sat down with other boutique owners and began the process of finding vendors and figuring out what they wanted the boutique to be.

“We have a little bit of everything,” Kiko said. Handmade natural soaps, soy candles, tea towels, body lotions, bath salts and antiques, purses and clothes are just a few of the items up for sale at the boutique. Some of the vendors featured are Studio Pink Boutique, Cheryl’s Step in Time Antiques and Amish Light Soy Candles. They also offer gourmet coffee and the occasional freshly made cinnamon rolls they receive from a local baker once a week.

The boutique is completely family owned and ran. Chances are you’ll be waited on by one of Kiko or Warth’s children or one of the owners themselves. Kiko said she has hopes of expanding and growing the business, with dreams of filling the upstairs of the building with antiques and even more things to buy.

Despite the pandemic and being off the beaten path, Kiko said the boutique has already been a success thanks to the community.

“We have had such an outpouring of support from the community,” Kiko said. “People will stop by on their way to work or just to pick up a gift for someone.”

Kiko hopes to expand business hours over the summer and is mulling over the possibility of adding a few more summertime features to their food and drink offerings.

The boutique is located at 5099 Butler Grange Road in Salem, on the corner of Butler Grange and Winona Road. It’s open Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
