Sheetz moves closer to state Route 7/14 location

COLUMBIANA — The corner of state Route 7 and 14 is one step closer to being the home of the area’s newest Sheetz, after Tuesday’s city planning commission meeting.

Representatives from the Firestone Crossing team reported that the 2.5-acre site at 44952 state Route 14, which used to house a truck stop, is proposed to be site of a 6,000-square-foot store with six field pump islands. Construction would begin in spring 2025 with completion hopefully done by September 2025.

The commission approved granting a conditional use for the C-4 zoned property as well as a sign variance application that would allow additional signage.

Tom Rodfong had his conditional zoning application granted on behalf of TLX Properties. He plans on occupying a building at 625 Springfield Road, which had been a medical office. Rodfong, who has a Boardman-based elder law practice, is looking to open a second location there. The only concern expressed during a public hearing was if Rodfong was going to put a criminal law office in Columbiana, which he said is not his intent. The commission approved his conditional use.

In other action, the commission approved site plan reviews for 35 N. Main St., which will be the new location for an Edward Jones office in the spring.

Starting at $2.99/week.
