Monsters and music: Zombie Crawl returns to Lisbon
LISBON — Monsters, music and a little welcomed mayhem will be on display in Lisbon when the sixth-annual Zombie Crawl returns to the village on Oct. 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC), invites residents to celebrate the Halloween spirit by putting on their un-dead best, dressing up like Zombies, strolling around town and participating in a musical number, if they choose.
“We’re excited about our annual Zombie Crawl and Trunk or Treat. It’s the next best thing to a flash mob,” LACC executive director Judy Noel said.
A flash mob is a group of people who suddenly assemble in a public place to perform an unusual act, such as a dance or song, before quickly dispersing. Last year, Zombie Crawl participants broke out in a not-so-impromptu performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to entertain the crowd.
“Chris Garcia is volunteering his time providing free Zombie dance lessons to willing participants,” Noel said. “And DJ Matt Holland will provide DJ services throughout the day.”
Dance classes are scheduled for Oct. 12 and 19 from 2-3 p.m. at Bettie Lee at 517 East Washington St., Lisbon.
According to the LACC, the Zombie Crawl will begin at the Gazebo, proceed behind the Phoenix Building to East Washington continuing north on South Market Street and completing the circle at the Columbiana County Courthouse.
The Zombie Dance will begin at the end of the parade and the Trunk or Treat will begin immediately following the Zombie Crawl. Both events are free and open to the public.
“Vehicles will be decorated and distributing candy to the ‘ghouls and goblins’,” Noel added. ” The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce will provide hot dogs and have a Halloween craft for the children and the Lisbon Grange will be on hand with ice cream.”
