CCCTC passes resolution for Tax Increment Financing

LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center has passed a resolution waiving the required notices for the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) being sought by the St. Clair Township Board of Trustees. The career center board has been in discussions with the Beaver Local School District, which would also be affected by the TIF proposed by the township. According to the resolution, St. Clair Township is planning to offer 100 percent exemption over a period of 30 years for affected parcels. Several animals die in Salem house fire

SALEM — A Salem house fire Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of several animals. According to a Facebook post by the Salem Fire Department, the department responded to a house fire in the 800 block of Highland Avenue, finding heavy smoke in the rear of the structure. In a separate post by the Columbiana County Humane Society, agent Fabian Pike confirmed there were a total of seven animals on site. Three dogs were saved while four cats perished. Deep clean at Salem Community Center

CCESC to provide hands-on career exploration at the 7th Annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo

LISBON — The Columbiana County Educational Service Center (CCESC) is partnering in the 7th Annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo. Dennis Dunham, director of teaching and learning for the CCESC, said during the August board meeting that the event scheduled for Sept. 22-24 at the Canfield Fairgrounds will provide hands-on career exploration opportunities for students in grades 7-12. Columbiana Arts Theater to produce first independent musical

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater is producing its first ever musical independently. Also known as the CAT, the Columbiana Arts Theater located in the town square along Main Street has been gifted enough funding to produce the popular “1776” musical that is being locally directed by retired Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge Mark Frost. Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Middleton Township

LISBON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a crash which left a Wellsville man dead in Middleton Township Monday. According to a press release, OSHP Post 15 in Lisbon is investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash which occurred on state Route 7 near mile post 19 at approximately 9:02 p.m. Monday. David Bell, 35, Wellsville, was traveling southbound on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle which traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned back onto the roadway.
