LISBON — The Columbiana County commissioners issued a proclamation Wednesday to bring more awareness regarding men’s health, declaring June 15-21 as Men’s Health Week in the county. According to the proclamation, Men’s Health Month is part of an effort to educate men, boys and their families about the importance of preventative health screenings, early detection and healthy lifestyles, noting that men have a shorter life expectancy than women and experience higher rates of chronic disease. Two in GOP seek Mahoning County judge seat

YOUNGSTOWN — Republicans Kathleen Bartlett and Mark DeVicchio face off in the May 5 primary for Mahoning County Domestic Relations judge, a seat longtime Domestic Relations Judge Beth Smith will vacate at the end of the year because of the state’s age limit for judges. SALEM - City council will consider a proposal to give an honorary designation to a section of East Pershing Street. The public services committee voted unanimously Tuesday to forward a proposal to give the section of East Pershing Street in front of Sebo Stadium between Lincoln and Ohio avenues the honorary designation “Earle Bruce Way” in memory of the eponymous hall of fame coach to the city council for review in an upcoming meeting. Storm water discharge regulations approved in Salem

SALEM – City council approved updates to the storm water discharge regulations in its meeting Tuesday. Council voted unanimously to approve proposed changes to the city’s ordinance regarding illicit storm water discharge. Given its first reading April 7, the proposed update would add a new paragraph to section 1186.07 (a) which outlines exceptions to the prohibition against discharging any materials into the municipal storm drain system or watercourses.
