Police investigate child drowning death in Washingtonville

WASHINGTONVILLE — Local police are investigating the Wednesday drowning death of a young child. A news release from the Washingtonville Police Department states that police and EMS personnel responded at about 10 a.m. to the Washingtonville Apartments in the 100 block of Chris Avenue. The report states that police Chief Ken Faust was the first on scene, along with Perry Township EMS, who performed CPR on a 1-year-old boy. Driving privileges granted to driver sentenced in fatal crash

LISBON — A man whose license was suspended for 15 years during sentencing in March 2024 for aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular assault now has limited driving privileges. Lowell D. Horst, 31, formerly Canfield, is currently residing in a halfway house in Youngstown as part of his conditional release from prison, but after June 7, will be residing on Cunningham Road, Salem and has a job on Beeson Mill Road, Leetonia. Following a strong finish at the recent Salem Invitational, the team will participate in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ Small School National Championship Tournament Friday in a 154-team national competition.
