LISBON —A former food service inspector for the East Liverpool City Health District is facing 23 counts of tampering with records for allegedly falsifying food inspection reports over a nearly one-year period. Alan Masters, 64, West Eighth Street, Salem, was served Monday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury last week for the third-degree felony charge, with all 23 counts allegedly occurring from May 31, 2024 through April 25, 2025. Charges forthcoming in East Palestine animal cruelty case

EAST PALESTINE — Charges are forthcoming in the case of an East Palestine resident who had 21 animals seized by the Columbiana County Humane Society. Columbiana County Humane Agent Fabian Pike said that charges for cruelty to companion animals and unsanitary and unhealthful conditions are forthcoming after the humane society’s investigation of a Main Street residence on April 3 resulted in the seizure of 21 animals. LISBON — A jury trial remains set June 2 in the aggravated murder case against Daniel C. Whitley for the May 2025 shooting death of James Powell, but with another status hearing set for 1:40 p.m. May 8. Whitley, 34, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, appeared in the custody of Columbiana County sheriff deputies before county Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton.
