Lisbon McKinley second graders teamed up with the local dog pound to write persuasive letters to people in the community about adopting dogs. Students researched various dogs from the dog pound website and began writing letters about the dogs and why they should be adopted. Second graders took a field trip to the pound to learn more about the dogs and got to interact and read to many of the hopeful hounds. Letters were completed and will be posted around town encouraging community members to adopt from the local pound. (Submitted photo)

EAST LIVERPOOL — The annual Bigfoot Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Beaver Creek State Park. The event will feature a group camp in the park on Friday and Saturday, Bigfoot investigations, speakers and vendors. The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, one of the sponsors of the event, will hold their monthly pancake breakfast in the lower level of the barn from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
