County commissioners authorize engineer's office to seek bids for manhole project

LISBON — A Columbiana County engineer’s project to replace and rehabilitate manholes along Dresden Avenue in St. Clair Township received the go-ahead from commissioners to seek bids for the first phase of work. Commissioners on Wednesday authorized the engineer advertising for bids, which will be opened at 9 a.m. Aug. 19 at the engineer’s office. A deputy checked the area, but had no contact with anyone. — Deputies responded at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday to a domestic disturbance on Riffle Road, Elkrun Township where both parties were yelling back and forth. Salem to partner with county to secure road salt supplier

SALEM — The city of Salem will be partnering with the county to secure its own supplier for road salt this year. City council voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize City Service Safety Director Joe Cappuzzello to purchase road salt by advertising for bids with the Columbiana County Engineer’s Office and entering a contract for the purchase rather than participating in the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)’s annual contract.
