Friends of the Banquet to sponsor Banquet in Salem The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored by Friends of the Banquet. The menu will include Johnny marzetti, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and peaches. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Salem council approves union contracts

SALEM — City council approved two new union contracts in its meeting Tuesday. Following a near hour-long executive session for the discussion of personnel matters council unanimously approved collective bargaining agreements with Salem Firefighters Local 283 of the International Association of Firefighters, and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 2701, which represents employees of the street, traffic and safety, and parks departments as well as some city hall personnel. Salem council approves amended resolution for parks renewal levy

SALEM — City council Tuesday night approved an amended resolution declaring a necessity for renewing the park department’s recreational levy. Council unanimously approved two resolutions declaring it necessary to present the renewal of the 1.3-mill levy to voters in Columbiana and Mahoning counties, respectively, in the upcoming general election on Nov. 3.
