SALEM
– Police responded at 6:43 a.m. Friday to the 1400 block of Buckeye Circle at the request of the street department to have a silver Mustang moved from the road. The city truck could not get around it to plow. The resident was contacted and willingly moved the vehicle.
– Police checked a business in the 2400 block of East State Street at 2:57 a.m. Friday for an alarm, finding a man unloading items from a semi truck. He said he was delivering products to the store and was not aware the alarm had gone off. Officers found no problems.
– Officers on patrol at 10:37 p.m. Thursday saw a man stumble and fall in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. They stopped and transported him home due to the extreme cold.
– Audrey Treleven, 58, of 741 Main St., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence after police were called at 8:24 p.m. Thursday to the 900 block of West Wilson Street for a report of an intoxicated person. A woman said a person known to her was on her way to the residence to pick up her child and was intoxicated. Officers saw the person in question drive around a patrol car and into the driveway. Officers made contact with the female driver and spoke with her about the complaint, detecting an odor of alcoholic beverage when she spoke. She was asked to perform a field sobriety test and was then taken into custody. Treleven was released to a family member.
– Sheila Cruz, 56, of Columbia Street, Leetonia, was charged with a marked lanes violation after her westbound vehicle in the right turn only lane on West State Street tried to change lanes into the straight ahead lane and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Nicholas Bryan, 25, of state Route 7, New Waterford, who was in the straight ahead lane at 8:15 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
– Darrin Dustman, 20, of Rose Avenue, was charged with failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Rose failed to stop for the stop sign and went through the intersection on East Third Street, striking a westbound vehicle driven by Mia Conn, 17, of Stewart Avenue. No injuries were reported.
– During a followup investigation regarding a juvenile, police responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 5:47 p.m. Thursday and spoke with a juvenile who lived there. Police were able to locate a missing juvenile who was then transported to the police station to await a parent.
– Dustin Hutter, of the 600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, reported at 5:36 p.m. Thursday that his bicycle was stolen from the property.
– At the request of the Salem schools, officers responded at 5:11 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of East Fifth Street to make contact with a family member of a Buckeye student who had been kept on the bus. According to a district policy as explained to police, bus drivers don’t drop off students in grades K-2 if no one is at the bus stop to pick them up. Apparently there was a mixup over who was supposed to be there for the student and no one was there. School officials attempted to make contact by phone with family members of the student, but were unsuccessful in reaching anyone. The girl was taken to the bus garage until the police located an aunt who then responded to the bus garage on Pennsylvania Avenue to pick her up.
– A juvenile was reported missing from the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 4:17 p.m. Thursday. The juvenile was supposed to be there after school and did not show up. The juvenile was entered in the law enforcement data base while officers checked a known residence where the juvenile goes.
– An officer asked a resident to move his vehicle from the curb lawn in front of his house at 3:07 p.m. Thursday. The resident said he would move it and said it had been there because of the parking ban. The parking ban in question had been lifted this past Monday.
– A mother and son on South Lincoln Avenue got into an argument over the son’s girlfriend at 3:01 p.m. Thursday. No physical violence was involved. The son agreed to leave for awhile to calm down.
PERRY TWP.
– Township police were requested at 9:11 p.m. Thursday by Mahoning County to check on several disabled vehicles on U.S. Route 62 just south of state Route 165 while their units were on another call. Police checked, but were unable to find any disabled vehicles.
– Police responded at 5:13 p.m. Thursday to the 1200 block of West State Street for an unruly juvenile failing to obey parental rules. An officer spoke to the parents and juvenile and explained their options. The 10-year-old was told to listen to the parents.
– Mahala Al Wallace Jr. of Austintown was cited for driving under suspension after police were called to Chestnut Grove Road at 3:55 p.m. Thursday for two vehicles stuck in a yard. Wallace’s vehicle traveled off of the slippery road and became stuck, then the driver of a 4-wheel drive pickup attempted to pull the vehicle out and became stuck, too, when the drive train became disabled. Both vehicles were towed out of the yard and both drivers were told they were responsible for the property damage. The Wallace vehicle was impounded.
– No citation was issued due to road and weather conditions after a pickup driven by Laura Clunen, of Oak Street, Leetonia, traveled off of the road and into a yard in the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 12:42 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle sustained no damage and was driven from the scene. It was unknown if there was any damage to the yard.
– The owner of Little Red Hen on West State Street reported at 12:40 p.m. Thursday that a man walked out of the store without paying for several items. The matter is under investigation.
– An officer on patrol Thursday located a suspect vehicle from a hit/skip the day before parked in the 1000 block of West Perry Street. A refuse truck owned by Kimble Refuse had been struck when a car drove around it on West Perry Street at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday. The car was damaged, but the elderly female driver kept going. No damage was reported to the truck. Police spoke to the driver of the suspect vehicle and she didn’t realize she had struck the refuse truck. No citation was issued.
LISBON
– A caller reported there was a white Trail Blazer possible leaking a large amount of gasoline on Greentree Place at 4:25 p.m. Thursday. Police found the SUV but did not smell any gas, and a maintenance worker crawled underneath the vehicle and did not see anything leaking.
– A caller complained Thursday about a dog owner who lets his pet defecate in the alley and parking lot off North Park Avenue by Geronimo’s Hardware Store. Police arrived and spoke with Michael Grim, who was told he needed to clean up after his dog or he could be charged. Grim said he would not let it happen again, and police also spoke with a female who lives nearby who also owns a dog.
– Police were asked to check on the welfare of a woman who lives on North Beaver Street at 8:12 a.m. Thursday. Police went to the residence but no one was home.
– Police were called to outside Mary’s Pizza in regard to a runaway boy at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday. Police found the youth, who lives outside of town on Steubenville Pike. He said he left home after getting into an altercation with his father’s girlfriend. Arrangements were made for his grandmother to pick him up.
– A caller reported there were juveniles fighting in the vicinity of West Lincoln Way and North Beaver Street at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Police arrived but there were no juveniles to be found.
COLUMBIANA
– Danny L. Benedict, 71, West Southern Avenue, was westbound on Southern Avenue at 11:41 a.m. Thursday and was attempting to pull alongside his mailbox and lost control on ice and struck the mailbox causing damage.
– The owner of Shellabellas on South Main Street reported at 7:11 p.m. Thursday a man had been in the restaurant causing problems and asking for drugs.
– Andrew Nutt, 26, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension and lighted lights required following a traffic stop.

LISBON
– Stanley Cusick reported there was a strange-looking group of people hanging about the Playtown playground at 5:17 p.m. Saturday. He said there were five people wearing funny costumes who seemed to be taking photographs, and there also may be a knife involved. Police arrived but did not see anyone about.
– Sherry Pierson, West Lincoln Way, reported she was being threatened by the person who lives in the upstairs apartment at 2 p.m. Friday.
– Police were asked to check on 426 N. Jefferson St. at 12:28 p.m. Thursday. No one was found at the home or in the garage.
– Police responded to a report of a fight outside the Days Inn at 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police arrived and were approached by two black males, one of whom had a large cut above his left eye. Isiah M. Bell, 18, of Cleveland, said he left his room and was walking toward the BP station to get something to eat when he was jumped by two white males dressed in black, one of whom hit him in the face with a pipe, while the other stole $10 from him. The other person with Bell, identified as Taurean Holt, said he was in his room at the time. An ambulance was summoned to transport Bell to the hospital to be stitched up.
– Police accompanied Greg Ebert to a residence on Harrison Street at 10:12 a.m. Friday to retrieve his personal belongings.
POLICE REPORTS
SALEM
– Officers were dispatched at 11:59 a.m. Monday for a missing juvenile near Centennial Park. A description was given and the girl was found by an officer and returned to her home.
– Throughout the evening Sunday and during the early morning and late morning hours Monday, police helped enforce the city’s snow emergency parking ban, either having vehicles moved or having multiple vehicles towed. Several vehicles were towed throughout the early morning hours. In a couple of places, police learned vehicles were broken down and told the owners to get them moved before they returned to order them towed. The parking ban had been activated at 6 p.m. Sunday and continued through 6 p.m. Monday due to the expected snowfall. During the ban, vehicles can’t be parked on city streets.
– An officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in a pulloff of George Wallace Parkway at 6:52 a.m. Monday and made contact with the driver, who said he had permission to be in the area.
– Loud persons were reported at 3:29 a.m. Monday in the 800 block of East Third Street. Officers made contact with people who said their child made some noise.
– An alarm activation was reported at 12:40 a.m. Monday on East State Street. Officers made contact with a keyholder and checked inside the store. Everything appeared normal.
– Police checked the 2800 block of East State Street at 10:29 p.m. Sunday for a single vehicle accident. The vehicle was found outside the city limits. Officers checked for injuries and had dispatch contact the proper agency to handle the accident, but stayed with the driver until the proper agency arrived.
– An alarm was reported at 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of East State Street, with the building found secure.
– Police responded at 9:21 p.m. Sunday to the Southeast School parking lot on Merle Road for a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located and police notified the parent of the juvenile in the vehicle. All parties were told to leave.
– A suspicious person was reported at 8:25 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of East State Street. The person was found in the 2200 block and said he lived at one of the local care facilities and had stopped at a location to see if a friend still lived there. He was told the person did not reside there.
– A man called from southern Ohio at 7:58 p.m. Sunday to report receiving unwanted messages from a person who lives in Salem. He was told he needed to make a report with his local police.
– A domestic was reported at 7:01 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Continental. Officers spoke with both people involved and determined it was a verbal dispute with no physical violence, only yelling. Both were told to stay calm.
– Police were called at 6:07 p.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of East State Street for a report of suspicious activity and persons using illegal drugs. Officers spoke with some people, but did not see any suspicious activity.
– Elton Elliott, 19, of 418 Columbia St., was cited for reasonable control after police were called to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 5:54 p.m. Sunday for an accident. Elliott lost control and came to a stop in a back yard.
PERRY TWP.
– Police were advised at 7:29 p.m. Sunday of a multiple-vehicle accident on Cunningham Road hill between state Route 344 and Shining Tree Lane, but upon responding, there was no accident. Two vehicles had become stuck while attempting to ascend the hill due to icy road conditions. They were able to continue after a township truck spread salt on the incline for traction.
– A resident in the 900 block of Jones Drive reported loud music at 5:02 p.m. Sunday. An officer spoke to a homeowner and the volume was decreased. The music was barely audible from outside the garage, but the proximity of residences would make it noticeable to neighbors, the report said.
-Jeffrey Anderson, 51, of Warren, was cited for reasonable control after his northbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62 failed to turn at state Route 14, traveled off the right side of the road, over an embankment and struck a tree at 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
– Zachary Markovich, 21, of Poland, was cited for reasonable control after police were called at 10:44 p.m. Saturday to backup a neighboring department on a traffic stop in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue. It was determined upon arrival that in an effort to pull off the road into a private drive, Markovich failed to have reasonable control and his vehicle slid across the road, across a drive in the 2200 block and struck a tree in a neighboring yard.
– Scott Bender Jr., 28, of Lisbon, was taken into custody for felony fleeing and eluding and multiple driving infractions after an alleged high-speed chase at 2:05 a.m. Saturday. Police attempted to stop the vehicle which was traveling northbound on South Lincoln Avenue, then the vehicle accelerated and turned onto Snyder Road, then south on Depot Road, failing to stop at the stop sign, then failing to stop at the red light at Depot and state Route 45, traveling through the intersection at 70 mph. At Depot and state Route 172, the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled through the intersection at 85 mph, then failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. Route 30, crossed the intersection and drove into the yard of a church, becoming stuck as it tried to get back on the road.
– Police were requested to respond to Quaker Mfg. at 3:28 p.m. Friday for a disgruntled employee who had just been advised of a layoff and refused to leave the premises. The person allegedly threatened other employees prior to leaving the building and was gone upon police arrival. Officers took information on the person and advised management of its options.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Erik D. O’Brien, 36, 2410 Brayton Ave., Alliance, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash on state Route 534 at state Route 14 at 6:06 a.m. Friday in which he was southbound and failed to yield the right of way, striking a westbound vehicle driven by Samuel R. Taylor, 28, Salem.
– Domingo Vega, 32, Youngstown, was cited for driving under suspension and traveling left of center following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 near Calla Road at 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
– Kevin E. Kirby, 40, 39060 Forrest St., Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension after an officer responded to a suspicious driver in the area of U.S. Route 62 and Calla Road at 12:40 p.m. Sunday in which the driver was slumped over the wheel. Kirby told the officer that the car had broken down and that he was fine, the caller probably having seen him bent over texting the owner of the car.

Salem
– Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 7:43 a.m. Saturday for a report of an irate patient. When officers arrived, hospital staff told them the patient had calmed down and was pacing in his room waiting for his discharge papers. The officers stood by to make sure there were no further problems.
– Police responded to a 400 block North Lincoln Avenue home at 2:59 p.m. Saturday where a man said someone overnight had stolen multiple battery operated tools, four unopened rolls of copper wire and two tool pouches with miscellaneous tools, all totaling $3,400.
– Police responded to an East Perry Street home at 12:10 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported her step-son had kicked and punched holes in a wall. The juvenile told officers that he had become upset and was wrestling with his younger brother regarding video games. The younger brother confirmed the story and they were told to stay away from each other for the night.
– Officers responded to domestic dispute in the 600 block of Prospect Street at 12:27 a.m. Sunday and found a verbal dispute. The individuals involved were told to stay away from each other for the night.
– Clint H. Gaskill, 36, 4383 Hawkins Road, New Waterford, was charged with fictitious plates following a traffic stop at North Ellsworth Avenue and East Fifth Street at 1:34 a.m. Sunday.
– Police responded to a report of possible juveniles pushing a snowmobile in the roadway in the area of Newgarden Avenue and Arch Street at 3:20 a.m. Sunday. The juveniles said they were working on the vehicle and needed to wash it down. They were arrested on an unruly offense and released to a parent.
– An officer responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 10:19 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone had pulled a vehicle into a driveway across the street then placed something in the mailbox. The officer discovered a hand written letter in the mailbox but was unable to find the vehicle.
– Diana L. Andre, 35, 294 Brooklyn Ave., Salem, was arrested at her home at 11:36 a.m. Sunday on a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.
– Myrna J. Crawford, 75, 16084 Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in which she was northbound on South Lincoln Avenue and failed to stop for traffic at the Franklin Avenue light, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Mary A. Manning, 65, Salem. No injuries were reported.
Columbiana
– A man reported a reckless driver at 5:35 a.m. Saturday driving into town from the North Lima direction on state Route 164.
– A Village Court woman reported at 8:26 a.m. Saturday she just put batteries into her carbon monoxide alarms and they keep going off. She asked for someone from the fire department to come check them.
– Sandra Byers, Stonehaven Drive, reportedly was backing from her driveway at 9:33 a.m. Saturday and struck a parked vehicle owned by Terry George of Salem.
– A Windrose Court woman reported at 9:34 a.m. Saturday her power was out, but she then hung up before any additional information could be obtained. Police found a tripped breaker and was able to get her power restored.
– Someone from Comp Co. Industries reported at 10:07 a.m. Saturday a theft had occurred sometime overnight. The matter is under investigation.
– James Carns, North Main Street, reported at 2:42 p.m. Saturday he was having a problem with his girlfriend and wanted police to stand by while she got some items from the apartment.
– A woman reported at 4:11 p.m. Saturday a stop sign was down at the intersection of West Salem Avenue and North Vine Street. The street department was contacted to replace the sign.
– Beaver Township police reported at 6:18 p.m. Saturday someone called them about a recklessly driven dark pickup southbound on state Route 46 from state Route 165. Police checked the area, but did not find the pickup.
– A Fairfield School Road woman reported at 6:34 p.m. Saturday she heard what sounded like gunshots in the 900 block. Police both sat stationary in the area and checked around, but did not find anyone shooting.
– A reckless driver was reported going northbound on state Route 164 at 7:09 p.m. Saturday in a green Ford Taurus. Police checked the area, but had no contact with the vehicle.
Salem Township
– The township road superintendent reported at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday someone had crashed on Eagleton Road, damaging several sections of guardrail and posts. An investigation revealed Ryan Roppolo of Rootstown, driving for Republic Services, was southbound on Eagleton Road just south of Teegarden Road earlier that morning when he slid on snow and ice while attempting to get a garbage truck up the hill. The truck slid backwards into the guardrail. There was no damage to the truck.
POLICE REPORTS
SALEM
– An officer of Homeland Security requested a city officer assist him at 11:49 a.m. Thursday in interviewing a victim of fraud at a North Union Avenue address. The victim was located and the agent got the information needed.
– An officer responded at 9:11 a.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Washington Avenue for a parking complaint. A resident said the street department did not plow over far enough for her visitors to park their vehicles. The officer told her the area in question is a no parking zone so no vehicles should be parked there. The officer said he would contact the street department about fixing the snow build up the next time they plow.
– A red warning tag was placed on a vehicle after a parking complaint was reported at 7:37 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of East Perry Street.
– Mark Conroy, 45, of 1207 E. Third St., was charged with disorderly conduct after an officer on patrol at 2:05 a.m. Thursday saw a man staggering across the parking lot of Speedway gas station and across South Howard Avenue. The officer then saw the man nearly fall into the eastbound lane of traffic on West State Street near Howard but catch himself by bear-hugging a light pole. The man then struggled to regain his balance, still using the assistance of the light pole. He was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody.
– Officers at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday saw two pieces of concrete in the road at East Pershing Street and Park Avenue. The concrete was removed from the road and placed on the curb lawn.
– Police were called to a business in the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for one to be removed. Employees of the business said a patron was refusing to leave. An officer told the female she needed to leave, with a taxi contacted to take her home.
– Police were called at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Railroad Street where a man reported a friend had taken items from his home Tuesday night. The friend was invited over by his roommate who did not see the suspect take anything. The theft was under investigation.
-A suspicious person was reported at 6:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of South Lincoln Avenue. An officer found the person who said he worked for a local cab company and got his vehicle stuck in the back yard of a customer. The man went door to door asking if people would help push him out. Officers tried to help push the vehicle out, but were unsuccessful. Another cab was contacted for the homeowner.
– Amanda Jones, of East Sixth Street, reported at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday that her silver Dodge 4×4 was damaged while legally parked in the 200 block of East State Street. A unknown vehicle westbound on East State Street struck the driver side mirror of her vehicle, leaving the mirror cracked and slightly bent.
– Jason Sorrentino, 30, of 637 Woodland Ave., was charged with domestic violence, a fifth-degree felony, and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to the 700 block of East Third Street for a fight/domestic in progress at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday. There was a physical confrontation between a married couple and a physical confrontation between the husband of the female and a man who had been at the residence, the report said.
– An ATV was reported in the road on West School Street at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday. The ATV was located in a yard and the owner was told to keep it off the road.
– A parking ticket was issued at 2:44 p.m. Wednesday for a vehicle found parked in front of the mailboxes in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge.
– Police responded to Pure Pet, 148 Penn Ave., at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday regarding a customer the personnel wanted removed after an alleged harassment situation involving a check and some ferrets they couldn’t get for him. His check was returned and he was told to leave.
– Ryan Lujan, 21, of West Fourth Street, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle stopped at the stop sign on George Wallace Parkway and attempted to turn south onto Pennsylvania Avenue, colliding with a vehicle driven by Randolph Strader, 71, of McCracken Road, who was northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue at 12:09 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
– A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported at 10:29 a.m. Wednesday that a female driving a blue Range Rover prepaid for $13 worth of gas but pumped $25.21 worth of gas and left without paying for the difference.
– Police were called at 8:31 a.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where the homeowner said her brother’s son has been staying with her and a Buckeye online school computer was taken from her residence. She said they think another male may have taken it and pawned it. The computer was not found at a local establishment. School officials were going to see if they could get a signal from the computer to locate it. The male in question resides on state Route 644 and is an adult.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– A woman came to the police station at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday to report her ex-spouse exposed himself to her during a child exchange on Benton Road. Police obtained a copy of her dash board camera footage and statements from her and her passenger. She wanted to pursue charges. Information will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
– A vehicle driven by a Newgarden Avenue resident sustained damage to the front driver’s side after an animal ran out in front of it at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Benton Road. The animal ran off and couldn’t be found.
– A resident on West Pidgeon Road reported a stolen firearm at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Columbiana
– Ralph Spotleson, Leetonia, was northbound on South Main at 7:13 a.m. Wednesday and Jason Leigh, Columbiana, was westbound on Duquesne and failed to control his vehicle on ice and ran through the stop sign into Spotleson. Leigh was cited for failure to control.
– Marathon reported at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday receiving a counterfeit $50.
Kelly Wells reported at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday a refrigerator was stolen from a house on Duquesne that is owned by the bank she works for.
– Police checked on a report of a crash at the Y on West Park at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday but the vehicle was already gone.
– Beau Graham, West Park Avenue, reported at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday his girlfriend was flipping out and throwing things all over the place. Police found the two were involved in a verbal dispute only and the girl left the home to stay at a friend’s house.
– A man reported at 6:14 p.m. Wednesday a car was parked too close to the intersection at East Woodland near Fairfield. Police spoke with the owner who agreed to have it moved.
– At 11:13 p.m. Wednesday police looked for a girl who left her home on Madison Drive. The girl returned home later.
Lisbon
– Michelle Smith reported seeing a female stumbling down the road on South Lincoln at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday. Police checked the area but did not find the person.
– An officer assisted a sheriff’s deputy in serving a protection order on Greg Ebert, Harrison Street, at 8 p.m. Jan. 16. Ebert gathered his belongings and left the property without incident.
– A caller reported a teenager without any coat sitting on the hillside across from Pondi’s at 8:33 p.m. Jan. 18. Police and a sheriff’s deputy checked the area but did not find anyone.
– Renee Ebert asked for a police escort to her home on Harrison Street at 11 a.m. Jan. 18, which the officer did without incident.
– Police responded to a home burglary alarm at 901 N. Market St. at 11:08 a.m. Jan. 18. The home was found secure but no one was home, and someone with a key was contacted.
– Jerry Holden, Pendleton Street, called with a question about a parked vehicle at 1 p.m. Jan. 19. Police determined the vehicle had valid plates and was legally parked.
– Police accompanied Mike Malone to a home North Jefferson while he retrieved paperwork at 5:11 p.m. Jan. 19.
– A home security alarm went off at the Jerry Toot residence on Pendleton Street at 2:28 p.m. Jan. 7. Police found the home to be secure.
– Jordan Alicea, West Pine Street, reported Jan. 18 being assaulted by her roommate, Zachery Strub, after she slapped him for allegedly picking up her puppy by its ears. She said Strub struck her several times in the face, leaving her with a swollen eye and inflamed lips. Strub was gone by the time police arrived, and Alicea was told to return to the police department to make a full statement after obtaining medical treatment at a local hospital.

– Janice Exline, West High Street, reported Tuesday someone stole items she kept stored in her garage. The stolen items included two saws and a weed eater, but one of the saws was later returned covered in ice.
– Police found five vehicles parked illegally on East Chestnut on Tuesday afternoon, and the owners were told to move them, which they did.
– A caller reported there was a possible fire near the high school at 11:53 a.m. Wednesday. Police checked the area and found smoke coming from a house chimney.

– A man was reported riding a child’s toy on the road at 6:03 p.m. Monday. He was found on a sidewalk with a child’s electric car. He agreed not to go on the roadway.
– Derek Steven Green, 24, Bricker Farm Lane, Salem, and Rebecca S. Dickson, 35, Malone Road, Salineville, were southbound on North Market Street at 4:10 p.m. Monday when Green stopped to turn left into Valley View. He was struck from behind by Dickson, who was cited for assured clear distance.
COLUMBIANA
– The owner of Elegant Nails on West Friend Street reported at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday someone was possibly scamming areas businesses by taking a payment for advertisements that were never produced.
– Elizabeth Terry reported at noon Tuesday she was being stalked by someone at her place of employment on South Main Street.
– Rebecca Baker, Parkview Drive, reported at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday that sometime during the past couple of days someone turned on her outdoor faucet and left the water running.
– A Mr. Higbee, address not listed, reported at 3 p.m. Tuesday he found a torn envelope in his mailbox with a bill and a check in it from an unknown person. Higbee provided the envelope to police, who contacted Arrow Disposal, the business the envelope was addressed to.
– A woman reported at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday a kid was riding a bicycle on the pond at Firestone Park. Police checked and did not see anyone riding on or near the pond.
– Matthew Charles Fay, 16, Garfield Road, was turning south onto South Avenue at 7 p.m. Tuesday from the Duke and Duchess and was struck by Kyle D. Maendel, 19, Garfield Avenue, Alliance, who was passing cars on the double yellow line while heading northbound on South Avenue. Maendel was cited for improper passing in hazardous zones.
– Joseph P. Ginocchi, Signal Road, reported at 7 p.m. Tuesday items were taken from his vehicle while it was parked in front of the Chinese restaurant on South Main Street.
– Police assisted a sheriff’s deputy with a call at 242 Brenda Lane at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday.
– A woman reported at 10 p.m. Tuesday a suspicious man was walking on Beechwood Avenue. The woman described the man as being in his 20s, 6 feet tall and wearing a black and blue hoodie. Police checked the area and surrounding areas but did not find anyone matching that description.
SALEM
– An officer on patrol at 6:38 a.m. Wednesday saw two suspicious males standing at the rear of Frank’s Speedy Car Wash on South Lincoln Avenue. The officer checked on them and learned both live at a nearby residence and one was waiting for a cab to pick him up.
– A woman on West State Street at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday requested assistance in locating her adult daughter, reporting she received a call from her that she was having a possible medical issue while driving. She was on U.S. Route 62 traveling toward Damascus from Salem and she told her to pull to the side of the road. Perry and Goshen Township departments were notified to check their jurisdictions. A Perry Township officer found her pulled into the parking lot of a car dealer. She was okay.
– An officer on patrol at 3:33 a.m. Wednesday noticed a vehicle with an expired registration in the 300 block of Washington and issued a citation. The officer searched the vehicle with consent of the driver, but found nothing illegal.
– An officer performing business checks in the Salem Industrial Park on Salem Parkway at 12:57 a.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle parked running in the parking lot of a closed business and saw a man walking out of a side door. The officer made contact and the man was identified as an employee. The vehicle was registered to the business.
– Steve E. Wells Jr., 28, whose last known address was 1240 Southeast Boulevard, was charged with domestic violence after police were called at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard for a fight/disturbance.
– A parking ticket was issued after an officer at 10:31 p.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle parked with the left side to the curb in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge.
– A missing juvenile was reported at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday from the 1200 block of East Third Street where the mother said her daughter had last been seen that morning and did not come home at curfew. Officers checked multiple locations, but couldn’t find her. After a tip, police located her in the 500 block of East Third Street. She was released to her mother.
– Police were called at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of Continental Drive for a suspicious vehicle/person. Police did not locate the vehicle or anyone matching the description.
– Brittany Mitcham, 18, of Beloit, was cited for failure to yield after her eastbound vehicle on Aetna failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign at Aetna and South Lincoln Avenue, and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Susan Yoho, 46, of Alliance, at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday.
– An officer on patrol at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday checked on a stopped vehicle in the road on East Pershing Street and Butcher Road, learning the driver was taking disciplinary action with a juvenile in the vehicle.
– A phone found in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue was placed in the police lost and found at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday.
– A man in the 800 block of East Fifth Street reported at 4:14 p.m. Tuesday that he was threatened via a social networking site.
– A man in the 200 block of East State Street reported at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday that for the past few days, people have been walking by his office yelling obscenities and licking the windows.
– An officer was called to a business in the 200 block of East State Street at 3 p.m. Tuesday to recover 10 movies that had been stolen from the Salem Public Library.

– Linda DiRienzo, 62, of East Fourth Street, was cited for a stop sign violation after her westbound vehicle on Peach Alley stopped for the stop sign and proceeded onto South Lundy, colliding with a northbound vehicle driven by Ronda Young, 46, of Oak Street, at 11:19 a.m. Tuesday.
– Police were called at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of East Third Street where a resident reported seeing a syringe leaning up against a tree near the sidewalk. An officer recovered the syringe to destroy it.
– Scott Mingus, of J. Herbert Construction, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., reported a breaking and entering at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday at the business. The incident was under investigation.
– An employee of Turner Machine, 1433 Salem Parkway, reported at 7:14 a.m. Tuesday that someone broke into the business and stole several items.
– An officer on patrol at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle parked in Waterworth Memorial Park after hours off of Sunset. A female driver under the age of 18 was taken into custody for a curfew violation, processed and released to her mother.
– A dispute was reported at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday in the area of East State Street and Ohio Avenue where two subjects were in the middle of the road arguing. A man said another subject took keys out of the vehicle and would not return them. The subject eventually gave him the keys back and fled. The man said the dispute was just verbal, with nothing physical occurring.
– A parking complaint was reported at 9:05 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Railroad Street, with the driver told to move the vehicle.
– Loud music was reported at 8:36 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of East State Street. An officer responded and didn’t hear any violations. A resident said the music had been loud but was turned down before police arrived.
– A well-being check was requested at 8:10 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Arch Street, but the person was not home.
– A man came to the police station at 8:07 p.m. Monday to report he had been at a bar in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue when he was struck in the face. He provided officers the name of the other person involved. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review of possible charges.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at 6:57 p.m. Monday on West State Street, but was not found.
– An officer saw a vehicle parked in the fire lane at Walmart at 6:54 p.m. Monday for a prolonged period of time and issued a parking ticket.
– Cynthia Morrison, 46, of East Fourth Street, was cited for improper backing after she stopped her vehicle for a red traffic light at East State Street on North Madison Avenue at 6:18 p.m. Monday and backed into a vehicle driven by Darlene Ramsey, 50, of Monroe Avenue, who was also waiting for the light. No injuries were reported.
– Police located a suspicious vehicle at 5:37 p.m. Monday at a residence at 922 W. Pershing St., which is the subject of a foreclosure. The residence was found unsecured. Police checked the residence with assistance from Perry Township officers and found no one inside.
– Officers on patrol at 4:47 p.m. Monday found two pieces of concrete in the road in the 1100 block of East Pershing Street and placed them on the curb lawn.
– An anonymous person stopped at the police station at 4:24 p.m. Monday to turn in drug paraphernalia found in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue. The paraphernalia was a small metal pipe commonly used to smoke crack, which an officer took to destroy.
– An officer at 2:37 p.m. Monday spoke with a woman about an allegation involving her ex-husband, who is the father of her child. The report said her daughter came home Monday and alleged a possible abuse situation. The matter was sent to the juvenile division and will be sent to Children Services for investigation.
– A caller at 1:33 p.m. Monday reported juveniles throwing snowballs at cars in the 400 block of East Second Street.
– An alleged rape reported at 12:41 p.m. Monday on Continental Drive is under investigation, with evidence gathered.
PERRY TWP.
– A noise complaint over a neighbor’s loud television was reported at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday on West Perry Street. The neighbors were asked to turn the volume down.
– A male juvenile was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Tobin Center after police were called at 9:41 p.m. Monday to the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue for an unruly juvenile. It was determined the juvenile made physical threatening gestures toward a parent. He was taken into custody after discussions with juvenile probation and the juvenile prosecutor.
– A resident in the 1200 block of Prospect Street reported at 6:11 p.m. Monday that he wanted a female who lived at his residence to leave. He was told to start the eviction process. The female said she plans to leave in the near future.
– Township police assisted Salem Police with a building search at 922 W. Pershing St. at 5:42 p.m. Monday.
– Jonathan Fish, 35, of Salem, was cited for reasonable control after attempting to turn his vehicle south onto the bypass from state Route 14 and lost control on the ice, crossing left of center and colliding with a vehicle driven by Thomas Crawford, 67, of Salem, who was stopped in traffic northbound on the bypass at 8:59 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
– Ronald Husem II, 27, of Youngstown, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his westbound vehicle on U.S. Route 62 failed to stop in time due to road conditions and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Josiah Petkus, 22, of Poland, who was stopped in traffic at 7:11 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
COLUMBIANA
– Police went to a West Salem Street home at 4 a.m. Monday for a report of a domestic dispute. One of the residents agreed to leave for the night and no charges were filed.
– Timothy Skeates, West Salem Street, requested at 12:48 p.m. Monday police stand by while he retrieved some belongings from the West Salem Street home.
– Gillian Filaccio, Salem, was westbound on West Park at 3:13 p.m. Monday and struck Vera Bortmas, Washingtonville, who crossing Park onto North Pearl and failed to yield from a stop sign. Bortmas was cited for stop sign.
– Charles Miller, South Main Street, reported at 5:33 p.m. Monday scooters were stolen from his front porch.
LISBON
– Police were called to the post office parking lot at 9:11 p.m. Jan. 15 because of two vehicles reportedly sitting there with people in them. The officer spoke to an elderly woman who was sitting in one vehicle, and she said she was afraid to get out to mail a letter because of the person in the other car facing her with the headlights on. The officer told her to mail her letter, and then he approached the other vehicle, where the driver reported she, too, wanted to mail her letter but was afraid to do so because of the person in the other vehicle.
– Police were asked on Jan. 17 to check on the welfare of Brent A. Delmont, 52, who lived in apartments on North Market Street because the landlord said neither he nor Delmont’s mother had been able to contact him. No one answered the door, and with landlord’s permission, police entered the apartment to find Delmont sleeping. Delmont was awakened and taken into custody after it was discovered there was an arrest warrant for him for domestic violence out of the county sheriff’s office.
CENTER TWP.
– Chief Adam Little responded Jan. 8 after a truck broke down on U.S. 30 on the Canton Hill. While waiting on a tow, the driver got the truck running again and left.
– Sara Eason, Grant Street, reported Jan. 9 she was moving out and her mother would not give her her belongings. She was told it was civil matter.
– Brian Nestori, Glasgow Road, Salineville, reported Jan. 15 his girlfriend assaulted him while they were in his vehicle parked at the pull-off a mile south of Lisbon. He did not want to file charges, just have a report made.
– Zakart J. Smith, West Washington Street, was cited for failure to control after wrecking on Mattix Road saturday. Smith swerved to miss a deer, went off the south side of the road, over-corrected and then went off the north side, coming to rest in driveway.

PERRY TWP.
– Maverick E. Sanders, 20, of 400 E. Main St., Washingtonville, and a female juvenile were each charged with underage consumption after police were called to the 1500 block of Manor Drive for a trespassing complaint at 10:49 p.m. Sunday. Police found several people near the road, with the two taken into custody for underage consumption. Other subjects called for a ride and one person fell and requested medical attention. KLG arrived and transported the person to Salem Regional Medical Center. The female juvenile was released to her guardian, with Sanders released on his own recognizance.
– Police were called at 6:56 p.m. Sunday to check on three suspicious vehicles that entered Grandview Cemetery after dark and had not left. Officers located the people who were looking for a family member’s grave but were unable to find it in the dark. They were told about the complaint and that they would have better luck during daylight hours with assistance from the caretaker.
– A North Ohio Boulevard resident called at 1:05 a.m. Sunday to report her dogs were agitated as if someone was outside near their vehicles. They checked the vehicles and found nothing wrong, but wanted officers to check the area. Police checked, but found nobody around.
– A resident on Allen Road talked to police at 8:49 a.m. Saturday in reference to neighbors driving on his property when the neighbors pull into and back out of their driveway. The neighbors were contacted and said they did not drive on his property, claiming he’s wrong on the location of the property boundaries. Both parties were told it’s a civil issue.
– Lucille Hudak, 31, of Austintown, was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance after her northbound vehicle struck the rear of a northbound vehicle driven by Lisa Vallia, 51, of Austintown, who had slowed for traffic turning into a private drive on North Lincoln Avenue (U.S. Route 62) at 5:21 p.m. Friday.
– An officer on patrol at 3:25 p.m. Friday saw a vehicle parked in the road facing against traffic causing a hazard on East 11th Street. The driver was found and told of the prohibited parking. The people were checking on winterized homes in the Salem area.
– An anonymous caller at 5:47 p.m. Thursday reported alleged solicitors from a construction company in the neighborhood of Jones Drive. The solicitors had reportedly left and entered the city, located later in the evening by Salem Police on Ridgewood Drive soliciting without a city permit. No soliciting is permitted in the township.
SALEM
– James Monteleone, 47, of state Route 45, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident at 7:58 a.m. Monday on East State Street at Highland Avenue. Monteleone’s vehicle was attempting to pull out from Highland Avenue and turn left onto East State Street when it collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Lydia Morrow, 21, of Jennings Avenue, pushing her vehicle into the curb lawn area in the 1400 block. There was minor damage to each vehicle and no injuries reported.
– Three juveniles found in a parked vehicle in the Buckeye School parking lot at 1:59 a.m. Monday were taken into custody for curfew violations, processed and released to their parents. An officer on patrol saw the vehicle and made contact with them.
– Police were told about a dispute while on the scene of a motor vehicle accident at 11:51 p.m. Sunday at East School Street and East Sixth Street. The involved parties in the accident had a dispute after the accident over a separate issue, with a female saying her boyfriend had punched the driver door of her vehicle and hit his head off of her window because he was upset over her talking with another male. The female didn’t want to file charges and just wanted her boyfriend to leave. No citations were issued related to the accident due to road conditions. One vehicle had been struck from behind by another vehicle.
– A 911 hangup/open line call was investigated at 9:51 p.m. Sunday. The resident said she was fine.
– Police responded at 7:04 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of Vine Avenue for an alarm. The business was found secure.
– Police responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:44 a.m. Sunday for a dispute over property. Both persons were told their options. A male from the residence was transported to the emergency room with an unknown medical condition.
– Police were called at 6:18 p.m. Sunday to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a domestic, but saw no physical injuries to the involved parties. After the investigation, one party involved was transported to the hospital for reasons not related to the domestic. The report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer for review.
– A residential burglary alarm was investigated at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Pearce Circle. The residence was found secure.
– A resident in the 2500 block of Lexington reported at 4:47 p.m. Sunday that someone egged the front of his residence.
– Mariah Blower, 20, of 912 Newgarden Ave., was charged with domestic violence after police were called to her residence at 11:11 p.m. Saturday. She and her husband had an argument and she wanted him to leave. The husband said she grabbed and scratched him, with several scratch marks visible on his neck. Blower was charged and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– An officer on patrol at 10:38 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue saw a vehicle driving over the curb lawn and sidewalk and stopped to speak to the person, who was now parked obstructing the sidewalk. The driver was advised of the ordinance against driving on sidewalks and a parking ticket was issued.
– A dispute was reported at 10:06 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of East Third Street, but police found there was no dispute. The other party had already left.

– Police checked on a suspicious vehicle parked at the Columbiana West Right parking lot at 1 a.m. Sunday and found it belonged to a man who was using the weight room and had permission to be there.
– Steve Reed, Fairfield School Road, reported at 1:34 a.m. Sunday he was involved in a verbal dispute with Christina Oleary at his home.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– An 8000 block state Route 165 resident reported at 5:36 p.m. Jan. 8 that her mailbox had been destroyed.
– A Colonial Villa resident kept dialing 911 at 12:48 p.m. Jan. 9 to speak with the Alliance police chief regarding the U.S. Postal Service.
– Rebekah A. McIntosh, 22, 8875 W. South Range Road, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 7:08 a.m. Jan. 12 in which she was westbound on state Route 165 approaching state Route 14 when she lost control of her vehicle, traveling off the eastbound side of the road, striking a culvert and coming to rest in a ravine. McIntosh was transported by Damascus EMS to the Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries.
– Josiah B. Petkus, 22, Poland, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 7:44 a.m. Jan. 12 in which he was westbound in the 5000 block of state Route 165 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the roadway, striking a ditch and damaging the property. No injuries were reported.

Wolfe, 24, 1721 Carriage Lane, Alliance, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 10:40 p.m. Jan. 12 in which he was eastbound on state Route 14 approaching state Route 534 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the westbound side of the roadway, striking a ditch.

Devine, 61, 14918 Leffingwell Road, Berlin Center, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 6:20 a.m Jan. 13 in which she was eastbound on state Route 14 approaching Duck Creek Road and lost control of her vehicle, traveling off the westbound side of the roadway and striking an embankment. She was transported by Damascus EMS to the Salem Regional Medical Center with possible injuries.
– Jeffrey V. Schindler, 60, 8766 W. South Range Road, Salem, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 4:36 p.m. Saturday in which he was southbound on Egypt Road at state Route 14 and failed to yield at the stop sign, turning westbound and striking a southbound vehicle driven by Nicole L. Spiker, 34, Columbiana, who was also attempting a westbound turn onto state Route 14. No injuries were reported.

– Police were called at 1:19 p.m. Sunday to North Lincoln Avenue and East Fifth Street for a parking complaint, but the vehicle was already being moved.
– A woman in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 9:31 a.m. Sunday that she’s been having some problems with a newspaper carrier who delivered papers to her home. The carrier contacted her via Facebook and made some unwanted comments towards her. If the problem continues with him, she will contact the police again and an officer will speak with him. Documentation was all that was requested at this time.
– A man in the 500 block of West Eighth Street reported at 8:58 a.m. Sunday that he received three phone calls in the morning and also received a voice mail that was a threat. The incidents are under investigation.
– An anonymous caller at 8:04 a.m. Sunday reported a suspicious person in the 900 block of Park Avenue. The person in question was found and checked for warrants, then told to leave the area and not return.
– Police were called at 3:36 a.m. Sunday to the 400 block of West State Street for a suspicious person who was described as a male wearing a tan jacket with an orange hoodie observed behind a business. He wasn’t found. Police were also called at 3:15 a.m. to West State Street and the Cranmer bridge for the same suspicious person who was seen attempting to get into vehicles, but was not found.
– Jonathan Weis, 25, of 589 E. Third St., and Sarah Young, 31, of 1777 state Route 9, were each charged with domestic violence, a misdemeanor, after police were called to the 500 block of East Third Street for a fight. A man said he had an argument with his girlfriend which turned physical. He said she bit his ear, slapped him and was wrestling with him. She also said the argument turned physical and said he attempted to choke her and grabbed her, causing scratches on her right arm and chest area. Both had visible injuries. The report said they were not married, but had a child together. Both were processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– City police assisted Perry Township Police at 3:12 a.m. Sunday at state Route 9 and the bypass. Two adult males were transported to the township police headquarters.
– Police were called at 2:03 a.m. Sunday to the 500 block of North Howard Avenue for a domestic dispute. An Akron woman said her boyfriend locked her out of the residence and she wanted to gather her belongings from inside. The boyfriend said there was a minor verbal dispute, but said she could gather her stuff and leave. She took her stuff and left after a relative picked her up.
– A suspicious truck was reported parked on Maple Street at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, but was not found by police.
– Jesse Rhodes, of Salem-Alliance Road, reported at 11:34 p.m. Saturday that he was northbound on South Cunningham Road when his vehicle struck metal. He removed the metal from the road and reported any damage would be underneath his vehicle.
– A man in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 9:20 p.m. Saturday that several of his online accounts were accessed and he was missing money from his bank account. He contacted his bank and was told to file a police report.
– An officer at 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of West Pershing Street saw a man near some unoccupied parked cars who appeared to be looking in the vehicles. The man told the officer he lived in the area and was just on his way home.
– Mark Fleming, of U.S. Route 62, reported at 7:14 p.m. Saturday that his wallet was taken after it was left on the counter at Auto Zone, 180 W. State St.
– Officers at 6:36 p.m. Saturday noticed an illegally parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Summit Street. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle.
– Officers on patrol at 5:34 p.m. Saturday saw a small tan dog walking in the road in the 400 block of Aetna Street. They attempted to catch the dog, but the dog continued to run from them.
– Officers were called to Cherry Street at 3:11 p.m. Saturday to check the well being of a female but learned she didn’t live there anymore. She was located in another state and was okay.
– A man in the 700 block of East Fifth Street reported at 2:43 p.m. Saturday that he received a letter he thought was suspicious. The officer looked at the letter and determined it was over a civil issue and not suspicious at all.
– A Columbiana man came to the police station at 1:37 p.m. Saturday to file an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle report. He said his father owns a vehicle and lent it to a family member about a month ago in agreement that the family member would take him to his doctor appointments. The person has stopped answering phone calls from the vehicle owner and has not returned the vehicle. The case is under investigation.
– An anonymous man spoke with an officer at 1:33 p.m. Saturday regarding concerns for his adult son who has been drinking and driving all the time. – Wendy Greschaw reported at 9:38 a.m. Friday her daughter, Sarah Sines, was showing up at Harmony Village on South Main Street, where Greschaw works, and is not allowed to be there. Sines was warned about going to her workplace.
– Police were called to a house on North Middle Street at 4:18 p.m. where two children were playing with toy guns and a passerby took the guns off of them. This upset Rachael Smith, the mother of the children. Both sides were warned about the repercussions of their actions.
– An officer on patrol came upon what he believed to be a suspicious vehicle parked at Fairfield Commons at 1:05 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied and logged in at the parking lot.
– Another office came across a suspicious vehicle in the Missing Sock Laundromat parking lot at 3:16 a.m. Saturday. An unidentified man was found in the truck and he was given a warning.
-A vehicle belonging to Roxanne Tomidajewicz was parked in the Dutch Village Inn parking on Saturday afternoon when it was struck by another vehicle, operated by Michele Painter of Washingtonville.
– A resident of Spinnaker Drive reported Saturday her husband stole her credit cards.

SALEM POLICE REPORTS
– Patrick Phillips, 41, of Cherry Street, was cited for assured clear distance after police came across a two-vehicle accident in the 1700 block of East State Street at 3 a.m. Saturday. The accident appeared to have just occurred. An eastbound vehicle driven by Danny Hrovatich, 58, of Sterling Heights, Mich., was struck from behind by Phillips’ eastbound vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– An officer saw a suspicious vehicle in the northeast lot at Butech at 1:08 a.m. Saturday. Two people inside sid they were arguing over a place to stay and had just pulled into the lot to talk. They said everything was fine and were told to leave.
– An officer on patrol at 12:43 a.m. Saturday saw a gold Chevy sedan parked in Waterworth Memorial Park off of Superior Avenue and found nobody inside. While there, three females were dropped off in another vehicle and said they had parked there to meet up with someone else. They were told the park was closed and to leave.
– An anonymous caller at 11:45 p.m. Friday reported dogs at a residence in the 400 block of West School Street had no food, water or shelter. An officer arrived and saw that the dogs had plenty of food and water along with a kennel. The dog owner was told about the complaint and said the dogs are well cared for.
– A clerk at Smith Oil, East State Street, reported at 10:58 p.m. Friday that someone pumped $8 worth of gas and left without paying.
– Police were called to the 300 block of West Eighth Street at 9:09 p.m. Friday for a car accident on private property. A vehicle had driven through a yard and caused property damage, then become stuck in the snow. No driver was present. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver will need to be identified before the vehicle can be released.
– John L. Weaver, 35, and Sabre J. Nelson, 39, both of 1184 Cleveland St., were each charged with domestic violence after police were called to the residence at 3:43 p.m. Friday for an allegation of criminal damaging. The female said her ex-boyfriend was moving out and breaking her things in the process. She was told it is a civil matter since they both still lived there. Police also discovered a physical fight occurred between them. Both had visible physical injuries they said were caused by the other. Both were charged and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– Police responded to the 300 block of Brooklyn for a report of solicitors at 3:41 p.m. Friday. Nobody was found.
– No citation was issued after Danielle Hartley, 32, of New Waterford, pulled into GetGo at 3:01 p.m. Friday with a van owned by Essex and turned the steering wheel too sharp, striking the metal pump protector on one of the gas pumps. There was minor damage to the vehicle and to the pump.
– A distraught female was reported at 12:54 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. First responders and EMT Ambulance responded and she was taken to the hospital.
– Graffiti was reported at 11:45 a.m. Friday on several no parking signs at Sharp Avenue and Prospect Street. The street department was notified.
– No citation was issued after a vehicle driven by Edward Berresford, of Woodale Drive, Hanoverton, attempted to pull out of a parking space on Penn Avenue at 11:42 a.m. Friday and struck the left rear bumper of a parked vehicle owned by Jessie Countryman, of Youngstown. No injuries were reported.
– A crew with a moving van was told to move after a parking complaint was filed by someone at Manhattan Cleaners, 763 E. State St., at 11:24 a.m. Friday The crew was moving items from the Salem Memorial Building. The vehicle was moved.
– Police were called at 10:44 a.m. Friday to the 600 block of East State Street for a medical problem at Home Savings. KLG transported a person to the hospital.
– Police were called at 10:49 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of Columbia Street for an alleged protection order violation. A woman said she had a protection order against a person and that person was driving around the area and making threats over the phone from a private number to her boyfriend. The person could not be located.

– A patrolling officer observed a man hitchhiking in the area of Brooklyn Avenue and East Third Street at 12:08 p.m. Thursday. The officer informed the man that hitchhiking is illegal and told him to stop.
– Marvin Hampton III, 26, Euclid, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash at West State Street and North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:25 p.m. Thursday in which he was eastbound in a commercial truck and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of the vehicle in front of him.
– Police responded to a fight in progress in the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, but found that it had already dispersed. Bystanders said that there had been a fight, but noted that everybody had separated without a problem.
– Officers responded to a gas station in the 900 block of East State Street at 4:36 p.m. Thursday where a clerk reported a man had purchased drinks with a $50 bill, then attempted to pay for the items of the woman behind him with another $50 bill. He then asked to change the two $50 bills for a $100 bill and then asked for $20 bills when the clerk said she couldn’t. She said he then left with all the money totaling $140.84.
– Police responded to the area of Continental and Bentley drives at 6:22 p.m. Thursday for a report of a juvenile walking in the roadway who was almost struck by a vehicle, but were unable to find anyone.
– Police responded at 6:27 p.m. Thursday to a report of a man who had stolen items from a business in the 2800 block of East State Street and fled in a vehicle southbound on Cunningham Road, but were unable to find him. Officers spoke with store security and discovered two men had stolen items at the same time and fled in two separate vehicles.
– Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 8:09 p.m. Thursday in which Makenzie Mckee, 18, Friendens, Pa., was stopped northbound and coasted backward into a northbound vehicle driven by Celina M. Gaudio, 19, North Lima. No injuries were reported nor citations issued.
– An officer responded with first responders to a medical emergency in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:22 p.m. Thursday. The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– An officer responded with first responders to a medical emergency in the 200 block of Continental Drive at 9:18 p.m. Thursday. The woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– Officers responded to a Woodland Avenue residence at 11:58 p.m. for a report of the rear door open and dining room light on, but found the home empty.
– Police responded to an East Third Street home at 12:47 a.m. Friday where a woman reported her ex-boyfriend had been trying to remove her vehicle’s battery and now it wouldn’t start. The officers couldn’t open the hood to check for damage, but told her to contact the department if she discovered any.

– A person by the name of Chamberlin reported her vehicle slid onto a rock while driving down an alley off North Market Street at 4:13 p.m. Thursday. The rock became lodged under her frame and a tow truck had to be called.
– Mason McCall, North Market Street, reported he believes the two people he had removed ffrom his residence were responsible for entering his home while he was at work on Tuesday because the only things missing were items belonging to them. There was no sign of forced entry.
– An AT&T representative reported 2,500 feet of copper wire valued at $8,000 was stolen from two poles near the park-and-ride pull off on state Route 154. The theft was discovered on Tuesday.

– A caller reported there was a vehicle sitting on Fifth Street with its flashing lights on at 7:26 a.m. Thursday. It turned out to be a newspaper delivery person.
– Police assisted in serving an arrest warrant on Andrew Nutt, West Park Avenue, at 10:26 a.m. Thursday. The warrant was out of Smith Township in Mahoning County

– Shirley Osterling, Old Route 344, reported Wednesday that sometime since last October someone entered her garage and took numerous car parts to a 1965 Ford Mustang that was to be rebuilt: two 289 engines, one valued at $1,500 and one at $500, a 302 engine valued at $500, a transmission, head, rear end and other parts. Also taken were drills, a grinder, gray Craftsman tool box containing numerous tools, 20-inch Stihl chainsaw model 041, Raven Arms .25 caliber chrome handgun with ivory grips, a 12-foot ladder and a scrap pile containing several steel beams 8-12 feet in length.

-Police responded to the security alarm going off at Consumers Bank at 6:09 a.m. Thursday, but the building was found secure.
-Jim Pezzano, North Jefferson Street, reported Wednesday there was a possible break-in at his garage, but the garage was found to be secure.
– Dale L. Humphreys, 50, Smithfield Street, East Liverpool, reportedly struck a vehicle operated by Bruce A. Carman, 52, South Beaver Street, while both were driving through the intersection of East Chestnut and North Jefferson streets at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

– Police checked on a report of two suspicious vehicles at the McDonald’s parking lot at 2:19 a.m. Wednesday and discovered the drivers were there to fix the restaurant’s grills.
– Christopher Bouchillon, 27, Canfield, was stopped at the stop sign facing east on Lisbon Street at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday near West Park Avenue and was struck from behind by Jennifer Beyer, 36, Lisbon, who was then cited for assured clear distance.
– Jessica Hall, 25, Lisbon, was southbound on South Main Street at noon Wednesday and entered the Union Street intersection, disregarding the red traffic signal and collided with Lorie Gfeller, 36, Berlin Center, who was eastbound on Union Street and traveling through the green light. Hall was cited for red light.
– A Cashland employee reported at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday someone stole an item from the store.
– Police checked on a report of an odor coming from a home on South Vine Street, but no problems were found.

– Brian K. Southridge, 35, of Alliance, was cited for loud exhaust, but further charges are pending after a suspected narcotics pipe was found under the driver’s seat during a traffic stop at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday on Goshen Road at Salem Parkway. After stopping the vehicle, an officer gained consent to search and found the pipe, which will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification for testing.
– Police and KLG Ambulance responded to a medical alert activated at a residence on Andrew Avenue at 12:07 a.m. Thursday. Entry was made into the residence and an elderly female was having chest pains but refused transport to a hospital emergency room. Family members arrived and said they would stay with her.
SALEM
– William Javens, 22, of East Third Street, Salem, was cited for fictitious plates after a traffic stop at 6:22 a.m. Thursday on West Second Street between North Ellsworth and Howard avenues. The vehicle was a red Ford Mustang, but the license plates belonged to a turquoise Hyundai. The driver said he just purchased the vehicle two days ago and put his plates on the Mustang. The title had not been signed over to him yet. The vehicle was towed from the scene and he was given a courtesy ride to his place of employment in the Industrial Park.
– Police were called at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of Prospect Street for an alleged protection order violation. Officers found that a female had contacted someone who has a protection order against her.
– Heather Downs, of the 400 block of East Euclid Street, reported at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday that her dog was taken from its cage in the back yard. An officer saw pieces of food on the ground that appeared to have been used to lure the dog from the cage. The theft is under investigation.
– A caller at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday reported a suspicious white van shining a light in the 1800 block of Pearce Circle. An officer located the vehicle, which belonged to Columbia Gas, with a driver speaking to a resident.
– Jerry P. Jackson, 32, whose addresses were listed as East Third Street, Salem, and Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, was taken into custody Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on an assault charge. Police had been called to the 500 block of East Third Street at 6:48 p.m. for an intoxicated person. He was identified and police found the outstanding warrant for his arrest.
– Courtney Bouchillon, 30, of 219 E. High St., Lisbon, was charged with theft and released on a recognizance bond after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday for a shoplifter. An asset protection employee reported the woman attempted to conceal merchandise and leave without paying.
– A parking ticket was issued after an officer at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle parked in a posted no parking zone in the 700 block of East Fifth Street. The owner could not be found.
– An officer at 6:07 p.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle parked illegally in the 700 block of West Wilson Street. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle.
– A Hammondsville woman spoke with an officer at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday regarding a theft of money from her wallet at Walmart. She lost her wallet at the local business and when she retrieved it from the business, cash was missing. An officer will follow up with the business to check surveillance footage.
– A man from Monroe Street reported at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday he was looking for his roommate at a Bank Street property and got into an argument with the roommate’s ex-girlfriend. He said she pushed him and called him a name, so he pushed her and called her a name. He said she threatened to call police. No calls had come from the female. He wanted the incident documented and was told to have no contact with her.
– The 1800 block of East State Street was checked at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday for a possible juvenile walking unattended. No juvenile was located.
– An abandoned vehicle was reported at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of East Euclid Street. A South Lincoln Avenue resident said the vehicle had been sitting there more than two weeks and doesn’t belong to anyone on that street. A warning tag was left on the windshield.
– Police were called at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Washington Avenue where a male was reportedly waiting outside a residence where his wife was staying. Officers made it clear to him that she does not want to deal with him at this time and he is on the verge of criminal charges. He left to go elsewhere for the night. Police had already been to the home after the resident reported at 2:09 p.m. that he was threatened over the phone by a known male. The pickup was described as a maroon Ford F-150. While the officer was present, the male called and made comments and threats towards the resident. The resident was told to tell the male to stay off the property and not call him back.
– Menacing threats were reported at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday at East State Street and Hawley Avenue. An officer spoke to a male about several juvenile girls walking down Hawley in the middle of the street, then talked to the girls in the funeral home parking lot. They said the male threatened to hit them with a baseball bat. He was could not be located again.
– An officer spoke with a man from Stewart Road, his wife, 17-year-old daughter and her boyfriend at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday about problems with a relative’s home the girl was watching and concerns about another relative who was staying there.

– A female resident from Andrew Avenue came to the police station at 8:12 p.m. Tuesday to report possible identity theft. She said she received a letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation regarding possible identity theft dating back to 2013. Police will be contacting the Ohio Department of Taxation, with the incident under investigation.
– A woman in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday that she’s been getting harassed by her ex-spouse since the divorce and civil court over their children.
– A resident on Buckeye Circle reported a missing firearm.
– Randy W. Bowman, 53, of East 10th Street, was cited for assured clear distance after his eastbound vehicle on West State Street struck the rear of an eastbound vehicle driven by Steven Tennis, 45, of Smith-Goshen Road, Beloit, who was stopped in traffic at a red light at 5:24 p.m. Monday. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.
– Stephanie Lambert, of Southeast Boulevard, was cited for reasonable control after she lost control of her southbound vehicle in the slushy road conditions on state Route 9 at 7:46 a.m. Monday. Her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and then struck a utility pole, breaking it in half. No injuries were reported.

– Joshua Board, of South Lincoln Avenue, reported at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday that his vehicle was missing from his residence. The vehicle was a maroon 1998 Ford F-150 pickup.
– Police responded at 8:11 a.m. Wednesday to McDonald’s, 1892 E. State St., to check on a female who reported a previous domestic and was talking with the male involved. The woman told police she was fine, but she did not need him following her everywhere she went. An officer spoke to the male who said he understood and said she wanted to talk and he felt they could do it there. She said she would be fine. The officer also spoke to her teenage son, who said he was in another booth just in case. Police had first been called at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday to Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., for a report of a domestic. The woman requested police check on her children at their Cleveland Street property. Police were called to the store again at 1:09 a.m. Wednesday when the woman reported her ex-boyfriend keeps calling her place of employment and she wants him to stop. The male talked to an officer by phone and said he would cease contact. Police returned to the store at 7:11 a.m. for a suspicious vehicle, noting the male in the vehicle was the subject from previous reports and told him to leave.
-Police were called at 10:34 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of West Eighth Street for an unknown noise disturbance. Nothing suspicious was located.
– A burglary in progress was reported at 8:32 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue. No intruders were found.
– Lisa Winwood, 34, of 371 Columbia St., Leetonia, was charged with theft and released to relatives after police were called at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday to Walmart on East State Street for an alleged shoplifter. A store loss prevention officer reported the female was detained for shoplifting.
-A woman reported at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday that on Monday between 5 and 5:30 p.m., someone possibly stole her phone out of her purse while she was waiting in line at Walmart. She was checking out and had placed her phone on top of her purse after making a call. She was placing bags in her cart from the turntable area and there was a female standing behind her cart. There was problem scanning one of her items and when she looked up, the female was gone. She returned home to find the phone missing. The carrier was contacted and placed a stop on the phone. The female was described as 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build (stocky) with brown shoulder length hair, 55 to 60 years old and very tan looking. She said the female had looked weird at one point. She didn’t see her around as she was leaving.
– Police were called to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday to check the area for people attempting to sell steaks. It was unknown if they had a permit to solicit in the city. No one was found.

– An Edgewood Drive woman reported at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday people were selling meat from a black Nissan and she wasn’t sure if they had permits. Police checked the area but did not find anyone matching the description.
– A man reported at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday he was upset about a disabled vehicle that was on South West Avenue near Union Street. Police checked and found the truck was not illegally parked or causing any problems for other traffic.
– James Cairns reported at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday he was breaking up with his girlfriend and requested an officer stand by while she retrieved her belongings from his North Main Street home.
– Someone reported at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday there was trash all over the road on West Woodland Avenue near Camelot Drive. A note was left with the Street Department to have the trash cleaned.
– Dave Perkins reported at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday a large truck was blocking the lane on North Main Street north of Stanton Avenue. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.
– Shawn A. Hamilton, 44, West Pidgeon Road, Salem, was stopped at Heck Road at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday near state Route 14 and was struck by Jerry D. Schwartz, 35, South Avenue, North Lima, who was turning east onto Heck Road from state Route 14. Schwartz’s vehicle was being towed by a vehicle driven by David M. Schwartz, 57, South Avenue, North Lima. Jerry Schwartz was cited for turning at an intersection.

– At midnight Monday, police requested the street crew salt the roads due to the weather.
– Police issued a 10-day junk vehicle notice to Christopher Harman, 149 S. Main St. at 7:44 a.m. Monday.
– Ron Wehr, address not listed, reported at 6:33 p.m. Monday his two juvenile daughters were causing problems with him and were out in the car in front of the police station screaming and hollering. Police spoke to everyone involved and they were referred to the Mahoning County Juvenile Court.
– A North Elm Street woman reported at 10:39 p.m. Monday someone was pounding on her door and trying to get inside. Police checked the area but did not find anyone.
LISBON
– Mason McCall, 962 N. Market St., called for an officer at 5 p.m. Sunday to say he wanted two people removed from his apartment. McCall said Peter Joseph, 20, of Midland, Pa., and Robert Whispell, 23, of Accord, N.Y., were homeless, so he let them stay with him, but now they were making a mess and refusing to leave. When an officer arrived and told them they had to leave, both began yelling at the officer and Joseph began punching a gallon tea jug, saying they had nowhere else to go. The pair were told to calm down, and at this point Whispell lifted his hands toward Joseph’s throat to get him to shut up. The officer pushed Whispell away from Joseph, pulled his Taser gun and ordered them to go to opposite sides of the room while he called for back up. Joseph continued to yell, and an ambulance was summoned after both indicated they might attempt to harm themselves. Joseph and Whispell agreed to be transported to a local hospital and were told upon their release to remove their items from the house.
– An officer responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Thomas Road at 4:43 p.m. Sunday, finding Jessie E. Mattix, 78, sitting in the driver’s seat. Mattix was helped from the vehicle and a tow truck was called. Mattix was then given a ride to her home on Sunset Drive.
– A 911 hang-up call from a cell phone was received from a home at 345 E. Chestnut St. at 3:24 a.m. Sunday. Police arrived and spoke with Howard Smith, who said he only has a land line.
– A caller reported there were two males walking on North Market Street and talking loudly near the Circle K at 2:36 a.m. Monday. Police found Adam and Kevin Dopp walking to their home on East Chestnut Street after purchasing some cigarettes from the Circle K. They were told lower their voices as they walked home and to watch out for snow plows.
– Debbie Curtis, 845 N. Market St., reported hearing noises coming from the laundry room in the apartment house at 1:47 a.m. Monday. Police did not find anyone in there but they could hear the water heater making a knocking sound.
SALEM
– Jonathan Maines, 26, of 513 Cherry St., was charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday for an alleged shoplifter fighting with store employees while trying to leave. The suspect ran past all points of purchase without paying and the store’s loss prevention officer and assistant manager stopped him. The value of items stolen was $120. Maines was transported to the Columbiana County jail after being processed by Salem Police.
– A woman in the 100 block of East Fifth Street reported at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday that she received what appeared to be a genuine letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation regarding someone filing a 2013 tax return in her name with her social security number. In the letter, she was provided with directions to follow and told to file a police report.
– Police responded to a motor vehicle lockout on Park Drive at 8:36 a.m. Tuesday when a woman said she was locked inside the vehicle due to a malfunction with the door handle. An officer was able to open the door by the door handle on the outside of the vehicle, allowing her to get out.
– Police checked on an alarm at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South Lundy Avenue. The exterior of the building was found secure.
– A barking dog was reported in the 300 block of Roosevelt Avenue at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday. The owner was contacted and brought the dog inside.
– Police responded at 8:02 p.m. Monday to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard where staff advised a resident of the home attempted to strike one of them and obtained several knives from the kitchen drawer to try harming herself. The resident reportedly came toward a staff member with a knife which they were able to take away from her. The resident sat down in a chair and was calm, then became agitated and broke a light bulb by squeezing it. Staff members thought they had all the glass, but she still had a glass shard and attempted to cut herself before they were able to get it off of her. Salem fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance came to the scene and she was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center. The incident will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review for charges.
– A resident in the 100 block of West Eighth Street reported at 5:14 p.m. Monday that a 20-pound propane tank was removed from his grill in the back yard.
– A Leetonia man came to the station at 3:56 p.m. Monday to report he got into an argument with someone for being rude to the employees of a business in the 100 block of East Second Street. According to the address, it was the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The man said after he left the business, the person followed him throughout the city in his vehicle. Police did a follow-up at the business and obtained information on the person.
-A worker at Cashland in the 2500 block of East State Street reported at 1:20 p.m. Monday that she came out for lunch and noticed someone had hit her vehicle. There was damage on the passenger side front bumper near the headlight and on the hood.

– Kenneth Tyler Smith, 30, 3372 Grafton Road, Leetonia, was charged with five counts of misdemeanor theft Monday following an investigation of a theft that occurred reported at his home on Jan. 7 reported by Sandy Smith, 52, same address. During the investigation Rachel Jean George, 36, same address, was arrested on an active felony warrant out of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a drug charge.

– A man on North Howard Avenue came to the police station at 11:28 a.m. Monday to request a well-being check, reporting he was supposed to pick up his daughter from school and she wasn’t there Monday and he had not been able to make contact with her mother since last Thursday. He said they may have been out of town for the weekend, but he was concerned she wasn’t back for school. An officer was making an attempt to contact the mother.
– A woman in the 300 block of West Seventh Street reported a case of menacing at 11:16 a.m. Monday, saying she received a call from an unknown number and person stating she had a custody battle and would be going to jail. She said she has never been involved in a custody battle and when she tried to call the number back they hung up on her. She was told it was a scam. An officer will attempt to make contact with someone at the number.
– Police were called for a parking complaint at 11:05 a.m. Monday on Buckeye Circle. The owner moved the vehicle.
– Police were called at 1:39 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue for loud music, but the noise could not be located. A resident had called two other times Sunday evening for the loud music, once at 7:57 p.m. and again at 9:34 p.m. when an officer parked in the area with the windows down and ignition off. The officer did not hear any noise violation. A radio or television was barely discernible from the outside and did not meet the criteria for a violation of the city noise ordinance.
– Police were called for loud music in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 11:47 p.m. Sunday and could hear loud voices at a residence. Three people were told to keep the noise down.
– Police were called at 11:46 p.m. Sunday to Walmart on East State Street for an intoxicated person. Employees directed officers to a person sitting in the restroom refusing to leave, who was found to be voluntarily intoxicated. Mark Conroy, 45, of 1207 E. Third St., was charged with a minor misdemeanor for disorderly conduct/public intoxication. He was given a ride to his residence.
– Officers acting on information from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 9:02 p.m. Sunday went to a residence in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue, along with a sheriff’s deputy, and found two people wanted on felony warrants. Both were taken into custody and turned over to the deputy. Timothy E. Culler Jr., 36, whose last known address was East Garfield Road, Petersburg, was wanted on warrants for illegal conveyance into a detention facility and falsification. Stacey L. Butcher, 40, of Tampa, Fla., was wanted on a warrant for trafficking in drugs.
– A reckless operator was reported at 5:25 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of East State Street. Police spoke to a man in the parking lot to make sure everything was okay.
– Officers were called at 4:59 p.m. Sunday for ATVs driving on a burial ground off of the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The people were found on Newgarden Avenue and told to stay off of the property or face criminal charges.
– Troy Hughes, 42, of 649 Prospect St., was cited for passing in a no passing zone, hit skip/leaving the scene and operating a vehicle while intoxicated after an accident reported at 1:54 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of East State Street ended with Hughes’ being caught in Washingtonville. The victim, 47-year-old Catherine Davidson-Chuck, of Harrison Avenue, Salem, reported she was eastbound on East State Street when the other vehicle attempted an illegal pass and struck the left rear quarter panel of her vehicle, then fled the scene eastbound. She followed the vehicle as she called Salem Police and relayed the message and a location. As both vehicles entered Washingtonville, she saw a Washingtonville Police officer and stopped, advising of the situation. Washingtonville Police stopped the suspect vehicle in the village’s jurisdiction and a Salem officer responded. The Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to assist with the investigation and it was found the driver of the suspect vehicle was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The report said he told police he had consumed six tall boy beers. No injuries were reported.
– A man in the 200 block of East Seventh Street reported at 9:50 a.m. Sunday that sometime overnight, one or two people walked through the neighbor’s yard onto his property. Tracks in the snow showed the person walking up to an unattached garage and then back out to the alley. Nothing appeared to be damaged or missing.
– Police were called at 9:17 a.m. Sunday to a parking lot at 2345 E. State St. near the GetGo gas station for a suspicious vehicle. A man was found sleeping in his car in a driving lane in the parking lot. He said he delivers auto parts and just stopped to take a rest. He moved his car from the lane.
– An ATM card was found in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue and turned over to police at 9:03 a.m. Sunday.
PERRY TWP.
– Lora Herbert, 70, of Beechwood Road, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her eastbound vehicle on Goshen Road stopped at the stop sign and attempted to cross U.S. Route 62 and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Frank Wolford, 59, of North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, at 6:34 p.m. Sunday. The collision caused Wolford’s vehicle to rotate clockwise in the road before coming to rest across the road, sustaining minor damage. Herbert’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
– Salem Police advised at 5:06 p.m. Sunday that 4-wheelers were riding in the Friend’s Cemetery behind the former Hickory Rib/Big Dog’s on South Ellsworth Avenue. A Perry Township officer also responded due to confusion over who has jurisdiction over the cemetery. The people were identified and told they would be responsible for any damages. They were told not to trespass with 4-wheelers in the cemetery in the future.
– A resident in the 1800 block of West State Street called at 6:50 p.m. Saturday regarding suspicious and possibly illegal activity in the neighborhood.
– A resident in the 400 block of West Pine Lake Road reported at 4:40 p.m. Friday that she believed cardboard boxes from a neighbor’s property had blown into her yard. She wanted police to advise the neighbor to remove them. She was told this was an act of nature or litter from a passing vehicle, but the neighbor was contacted and agreed to help her gather up the cardboard when they had a chance. The report said there’s a hedge between the properties that should stop any large boxes from crossing into her property.
– A motorist advised at 3:22 p.m. Friday that a semi tractor trailer struck a wire across the road in the vicinity of South Lincoln Avenue and East Pidgeon Road and continued into Fresh Mark. No downed wires or damage to poles or wires were found.
– No citation was issued after a vehicle driven by Korey Herron, 27, of Woodsdale Road, Salem, traveled off of state Route 9/Newgarden Road and struck a mailbox causing moderate damage to the front passenger side of his vehicle. Road conditions were blamed.

– Mario Parish, South Middle Street, reported at 3:17 p.m. Sunday his neighbor’s dogs keep coming into his yard and causing problems.
– A woman reported at 5 p.m. Sunday she saw someone with a gun on West Salem Street near Cherry Fork Road. Police found the suspect who did not have a gun.
– A woman reported at 7:26 p.m. Sunday a dark colored Jeep Liberty vehicle was parked in the Save-A-Lot parking lot for about a half hour. Police found the vehicle who then moved on.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Christopher Michael Benson, 39, 408 Fair Ave., Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 6:57 p.m. Friday in which he was southbound on U.S. Route 62 approaching Calla Road when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the opposite side of the roadway, coming to rest on the driver’s side. He was treated on scene by Green Township EMS.

– At 11:53 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of W. State Street regarding a suspicious man wearing a ski mask in a vehicle parked in the business. Police were unable to locate it.
– At 2:27 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 300 block of W. 9th Street where the complainant advised he and a person were having a verbal argument through the door due to him not letting the person inside. The person punched the glass pane, breaking it and fled on a bike. Police were unable to locate the person while checking the area.
– At 1:04 a.m. Sunday, police patrolling Waterworth Memorial Park observed a suspicious vehicle with three occupants after hours. They advised they were just talking and were advised of the park hours and to leave.
– Police responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 12:29 a.m. Sunday regarding a noise complaint and could hear a child inside who was running in the hallway. The tenant was advised of the complaint and said they will keep the noise down.
– Police made a traffic stop at 1:07 a.m. Sunday for a red light violation at N. Howard Avenue and W. State Street. Kenneth G. Kleinknecht, 1694 Lisbon Road, Leetonia, was cited for OVI, driving under suspension and a red light violation.
– At 2:28 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 300 block of N. Howard Avenue for a person to be removed complaint and the resident advised the person left before police arrived.
– Police responded to the 100 block of Railroad Street at 2:03 a.m. Sunday for a person causing problem. The man was advised he was no longer welcome and left without incident.
– Police made a speeding stop at 10:53 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of N. Lincoln Avenue and charged Francine L. Pimentel, 568 E. School Street, with OVI, driving under suspension and speeding.
– At 10:51 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street for a noise disturbance and advised the resident of the complaint and to keep the noise down.
– At 10:26 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of N. Lincoln Avenue., for a loud music complaint and spoke to the resident who said they would turn it down.
– Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street at 4:26 p.m. and observed a woman matching the description of a shoplifter and gave pursuit into the 2900 block of E. State Street and apprehended her in a restroom of a business. Brenda M. Tomlin, 3072 state Route 517, Lisbon, was charged with theft and released on recognizance bond. After an outstanding warrant from Mahoning County for felony heroin possession was affirmed she was turned over to Mahoning County authorities.
– At 7:11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of Summit Street for a report of an intoxicated driver and followed the vehicle for several block and no violations were observed.
– Police made a traffic stop in the 900 block of Jennings Avenue after observing several violation. Cheyne J. White, 391 Somer Street, Leetonia, was charge with driving under suspension.
– At 10:10 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of W. 5th Street, where the complaint advise the back window of the vehicle was broken out over night. No property was taken.
– Police responded to the 300 block of E. 5th Street at 8:58 a.m. Saturday where the complainant advised that sometime over night someone damaged the front window on her vehicle by throwing round piece of concrete through it. Photos were taken.
COLUMBIANA reports
– Gwenda Leadbitter, reported at 11:45 a.m. Saturday she was concerned because a man had left his kids sitting in a car in the parking lot of the Valero gas station and he had been inside for about 10 minutes. Police found the man and he said he had only been in the store for a short time and the kids were fine.
– Phyllis Johnson of Lowellville consulted with police at 4:57 p.m. Saturday about parking in front of the Mercantile on the square. Police said it was legal to park in the designated parking spaces on East Park Avenue.

– Police in the 900 block of Benton Road at 1:49 a.m. Saturday detected an odor of natural gas in front of a building and stood by until Columbia Gas arrived.
– Police responded to the 1000 block of Jennings Ave. at 10:23 p.m. Friday for a report of reckless operation and located multiple vehicles in a parking lot and all the drivers were advised to leave the area.
-?At 7:33 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 600 block of E. Euclid Street for a report of domestic violence. The complainant advised there was a verbal dispute with her adult son that turned physical and he threw her to the ground causing injury to her knee. He fled the residence and police checked the area and were unable to locate him. Charges are pending.
-?Police served an outstanding warrant on Laura C. Blake, 140 Woodland Ave. at 5:31 p.m. Friday from Columbiana County for failure to appear on a possession of drug abuse instruments charge. She was turned over to sheriff deputies.
Salem Township report
Constable Dan Valentine received a report at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday from a resident in the 3300 block of Grafton Road, Leetonia, advising that someone they knew stole a 33 gallon air compressor ($300), a Philips 32-inch flat screen television ($600), a 4,000 watt Champion generator ($350) and a Craftsman 2,200 psi pressure washer ($270). The matter is under investigation.
Lisbon REPORTS
– A man reported at 3 a.m. Friday the mother of his five-month-old daughter who lives on Moore Street was threatening to commit suicide by cutting herself. The man provided police with pictures on his cell phone that the woman sent him showing her wounds. Officers went to the home and the woman and her infant were taken to a medical facility.
– Police went to a South Beaver Street home at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday for a report that KLG Ambulance was responding to a call of an unstable woman there. The woman was transported with no problems.

– The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office reported at 7:20 p.m. Friday police should be on the lookout for two suspicious people possibly walking to Columbiana on Fairfield School Road from Rogers.

– Douglas P. Carpenter, 44, Dover, and Jarrod R. Becker, 23, Minerva, were southbound on Knox School Road in West Township at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Carpenter slowed and was struck from behind by Becker. Becker was cited for failure to control.
– Antwon Levon Harris, 40, Youngstown, was northbound on state Route 11 in Fairfield Township at 10:10 a.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a guardrail and then slid across the road and off the left side into a concrete bridge rail. He was cited for failure to control.
– John W. Taylor, 90, state Route 267, East Liverpool, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 2:10 p.m. Friday and went off the right side into a guardrail and then overturned off the guardrail and rolled down an embankment. He was taken to East Liverpool hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No citations were issued.
– Vicki Diane Geissler, 56, Canton, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 11:50 a.m. Friday and lost control and slid off the right side into a ditch and overturned. She was cited for failure to control.

Crowder then struck John C. Hoskins, 54, Alliance, who was in front of her, and the impact caused Crowder to go off the right side of the road into a sign. Zion was cited for assured clear distance and Crowder and her passenger, Cody Crowder, Alliance, were taken to the Alliance hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Police responded to a report at 4:30 a.m. Friday of a semi tractor trailer being stuck on the hill on state Route 344 west of Cunningham Road. Police spoke with the driver who said the trailer was empty and he couldn’t make it up the hill. The Ohio Department of Transportation responded and material was placed around the tires for traction, enabling the vehicle to go up the hill.
– A woman on Canterbury Lane called police at 8:30 p.m. Thursday regarding harassment, but when officers attempted to make contact with her, nobody answered the door. Dispatch called the woman who said she heard police knocking but she refused to answer or give any information about the harassment.
– A woman in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue called at 8:10 p.m. Thursday to request police check around her apartment after her dog alerted to suspicious noises outside, possibly from a prowler. Officers checked the area, but didn’t find anyone and didn’t see any footprints in the snow.
– Police responded at 10:04 a.m. Thursday to the 1800 block of Depot Road for a one-vehicle accident called in by a passerby. Officers found a 16-year-old Lisbon boy was driving a pickup northbound on Depot and failed to maintain reasonable control, with the vehicle traveling off of the right side of the road and coming to rest in a ditch. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was cited for reasonable control as a juvenile offender. He was picked up by his mother, who was also advised of the citation.
SALEM
– On Friday morning, police responded to two different private property accidents in the city, both involving snow plow drivers working on the lots and striking a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– Police responded to Aaron’s Rental in the 2900 block of East State Street for alarm activations at 6:59 a.m. Friday and 3:14 a.m. Friday. In both cases, the exterior was checked and found secure. Officers also heard an alarm going off at another location and found the building secure at 2:41 a.m. Friday.
– Police were called at 2:29 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue for an alleged fight. Contact was made with a man who appeared intoxicated and said he became upset when his friends left him at Centennial Park and he had to walk home. He reported no physical violence between anybody. He had a visible injury to his right arm and said he punched a wall. Other persons also said there was no physical altercation.
– No citation was issued due to road conditions after a northbound vehicle driven by Timothy Allison, 27, of Petersburg, could not get stopped for the red light on South Lincoln Avenue and slid through the intersection, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Barry Baddeley, 56, of Salem, at 9:38 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
– An officer on patrol at 9:27 p.m. Thursday saw a vehicle parked partially in the road in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The owner moved it.
– A phone was found on a sidewalk at 3:49 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East State Street and placed in the police lost and found.
– A woman on East Fifth Street reported at 3:14 p.m. Thursday that she left her wallet on the counter of a local store and when she returned to the store within five minutes, the wallet was gone.
– A person acting at risk to herself in the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:51 p.m. Thursday was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG.
– A civil issue was reported at 1:58 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North Howard Avenue. The civil nature of the complaint and issues of child custody were explained.
– Police were called at 1:51 p.m. Thursday to the 1400 block of Buckeye Circle for neglect to an animal after a caller reported a dog outside for over an hour. The officers located the dog in the back yard tied up to a tree. They made contact with a juvenile who said his parents were at work and the dog was sick and he did not know what to do. He was told to take the dog inside and contact his parents about the dog’s health.
– Dominic Linder, of Arch Street, reported at 1:25 p.m. Thursday that he was jogging in the 600 block of Prospect Street on Tuesday when four dogs ran after him from a residence and one bit him on the leg around the knee area. An officer attempted to make contact at the residence, but no one was home.
CENTER TWP.
– Police were called Jan. 1 a medical emergency at 7632 Rose Drive Apt. 41. Upon arrival, police found that KLG was advised by Life Alert that there was a medical emergency at the residence. KLG had already attempted to contact the resident by knocking on the door and received no answer. The county sheriff’s office reported they attempted to contact the apartment complex manager but with no success. Police opened the door and located the resident, who said she must have accidentally pushed her Life Alert button.
– A caller reported Jan. 3. there was suspected drug activity near the bridge on on Grant Street. Upon arrival, police located two people sitting in the vehicle, and upon further investigation drug paraphernalia was found. Charges are pending.

– Stephanie Humphrey, 21, of 672 N. Howard Ave., was charged with domestic violence after police were called to her residence at 6:01 a.m. Thursday for a domestic in progress.
– A city housing inspector requested assistance from police at 9:35 a.m. Thursday to check an address at 922 W. Pershing St., the site of at least two meth lab drug raids last year. Huntington Bank now owns the property and had contractors there to winterize and secure the property. The property had previously been posted for all persons to stay out, but it was believed that persons may be inside the home illegally. The contractors made entry into the garage and officers checked the entire interior for persons but none were located. The home had space heaters running with some lights on and there was feline defecation all over the floors with clutter and personal items all over the house on all floors. Officers left while contractors remained to finish their job.
– A parking citation was issued on a vehicle found parked with the left side to the curb in the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 12:44 a.m. Thursday.
– A woman in the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday that a family member was harassing her via telephone. An officer contacted the family member and told her not to contact the woman anymore.
– Police responded to a report of juveniles on the roof of a residence in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers saw two young juveniles climbing in a window that had roof access. Contact was made with the mother who said she would take care of the problem and there wouldn’t be a repeat occurrence.
– Lines were reported sparking in the area of Aetna and Homewood at 6:54 p.m. Wednesday. An officer saw two wires that occasionally sparked. Ohio Edison was called.
– An alarm was reported at a medical facility in the 2300 block of East Pershing Street at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday. One of the entry doors was found unlocked, but the inner doors were locked.
– Tara Brown, 50, of 1294 Carole Drive, was cited for an excessive barking dog violation after police were contacted at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday for a barking dog on Carole Drive. The anonymous caller said the dog had been outside in the cold weather for an extended period and no one was home. An officer found the dog outside barking excessively, then a family member arrived and took the dog inside. The humane officer was contacted and a police officer returned later to talk to the owner, who was cited and told about the humane officer being contacted.
– Nickole Hoschar, 22, of 3012 Middleton Road, Columbiana, was charged with theft after police were called to Walmart on East State Street for an alleged shoplifter at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday. A store loss prevention officer had the female detained.
– Police were called to the 300 block of West Eighth Street at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a recovered stolen vehicle. The vehicle was found on private property and was to be towed before it was realized the vehicle was listed as stolen. An officer confirmed the vehicle as stolen and the owner was contacted and responded to retrieve it.
– Police responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a woman who said she was approached by a female at a different location in town and now the same female was at her current location. She was concerned that the female was following her. An officer escorted the woman to her vehicle so she could leave. The female in question was an apparent mistake and had not been following the woman.
– City streets supervisor Jim Phillis called police at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday about two vehicles causing parking problems at Lincoln and Fourth. No violations were found.
– Police responded at 12:47 p.m. Wednesday for a complaint about a parked Jeep blocking an alley in the 900 block of East Third Street. The owner was contacted and said he would move it.

– Police responded to a possible domestic dispute on French Street in Damascus at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 14 and found it to be verbal only.
– Police responded to a theft report at Brunk’s RV on state Route 45 at 2:16 p.m. Dec. 15.
– Police responded to the Sharon Lynn girls home at 4 p.m. Dec. 15 where a juvenile resident reported another juvenile resident had punched and choked her.
– Police responded to the Sharon Lynn girls home at 8:28 p.m. Dec. 18 where a man reported a juvenile resident assaulted him while he was attempting to remove her from the home.
– Jessica Susan McComas, 22, Boardman, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 11:50 p.m. Dec. 18 in which she was eastbound in the 9000 block of Western Reserve Road and lost control of the vehicle, spinning into a mailbox and guardrail before coming to rest. No injuries were reported.
– Jennifer Anne Hepfner, 21, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 19 in which she was northbound on Goshen Road north of Kent Road and traveled off the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning. No injuries were reported.
– Police responded to a theft report in the 6200 block of Green Valley Road at 2:05 a.m. Dec. 20.

Hutton, 25, Salem. No injuries were reported.
– Police responded to a 5000 block Middletown Road home at 7:37 p.m. Jan. 2 where a resident reported her son was refusing to the leave the residence. An officer stood by while the individual collected his belongings and left.

– Gretchen Hull, Leetonia Road, reported Monday that sometime in November someone charged over $600 from Amazon on her Chase account. Hull also reported receiving a letter from a loan center informing her someone has tried to open an account and take out a loan twice using her personal information, but they denied the request.said he acted fine when in the store.

– John Dailey, South Main Street, reported at 6:41 a.m. Tuesday two bikes were laying between cars in the parking lot on South Main Street.
– Police assisted the driver of a tractor-trailer on East Park Avenue at 4 p.m. Tuesday who was attempting to find Oaks Welding. Police stood by until the driver made it into the parking lot and the roadway was clear. At 4:23 p.m. police assisted the driver of another tractor-trailer who was attempting to enter the parking lot of a business on state Route 14 near Red Path Road.
– Becky McMurry, Stanton Avenue, reported at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday she was receiving harassing phone calls from someone she knows.
SALEM
– No citations were issued after a collision at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Howard and West State Street. A southbound vehicle driven by Travis Sorrells, 30, of Newgarden Avenue, had the green light and traveled through the intersection when a westbound vehicle driven by Brittney Hobbs, 20, of Salineville, tried to stop but couldn’t due to slick road conditions, striking the driver side front area of Sorrells’ vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– A resident on Homewood Avenue reported at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday that a male from a residence on Franklin has been walking through his property and riding a bike through it even though he has asked him not to trespass. An officer was attempting contact with the male.
– An officer at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday checked the area of East Sixth Street west of North Lincoln Avenue for a CARTS bus reportedly parked for some time with its four-way flashers on. No bus was found.
– Officers on patrol at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday noticed a vehicle in the 800 block of South Union Avenue with its dome light on while parked in the driveway. Contact was attempted with the owner, but no contact was made.
– A 16-year-old Lisbon boy and a 17-year-old East Rochester boy were each cited for reckless operation on private property after police were called to the Salem High School parking lot off of F.E. Cope Drive at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday for vehicles driving recklessly, spinning in circles on the snow-covered lot. Police arrived and saw a pickup and a car driving in a reckless manner, causing the vehicles to slide, fishtail and spin in large circle patterns. The rear wheel of the pickup slid off of the blacktop and became temporarily stuck in the grass.
– Police stood by at a residence in the 1100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday, per a court order, while a male gathered his belongings.
– An area business owner residing on North Howard Street reported a possible scam at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday, saying a person contacted him via text message seeking replacement of a residential roof located outside of the city. He communicated with the person several times via text and drove to the residence in question, finding the home for sale with a real estate sign in the yard. He became suspicious after the person sent more texts saying the customer was in the hospital and asking him to draw $8,500 from the customer’s credit card to use $2,500 to get the job started and depositing $6,000 into the person’s account. The business owner contacted the realtor and was told the homeowner was not seeking a roof replacement because it was less than 10 years old. The report said it was clearly an attempt to scam him into depositing money into his account after which time the scammer would claim the transaction was fraudulent. The bank also explained the scam to him. An officer obtained the suspect’s phone number, which was not local.
– An officer spoke with a resident in the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an extra watch of the neighborhood.
– Officers on patrol at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday saw a juvenile in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue struggling with a bicycle. They took the juvenile home due to the extreme cold temperatures and released the juvenile to a parent.

-Police responded to a private property accident at Jimmy Murphy’s Auto Sales on North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday where an employee said he was parking his personal vehicle and struck one of the dealership’s vehicles. Both vehicles sustained damage to the passenger side front. The damaged vehicle belonging to the dealership was a 2003 PT Cruiser.
– An officer was stopped at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday by a anonymous man in the north lot of the Salem Regional Medical Center who said he was assaulted at the car wash on South Lincoln Avenue. The report said he told police he had been at the car wash sweeping out his vehicle when a male approached him and asked for a light. He turned to the inside of his vehicle to get a lighter and was hit on the back of the head. He was hit several more times and heard another male telling the assailant to get his wallet. He said he then began to fight back and got in a few hits. The two males retreated to a dark-colored Toyota pickup and fled north on Lincoln. Police searched the area, but did not find the vehicle or the males fitting the descriptions. One was described as a male, 25 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build, a dark complexion, and dark short hair with a thin mustache wearing blue jeans. The other one was described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a husky build, 200 pounds wearing blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
– An officer on patrol at 10:32 p.m. Monday saw a vehicle parked in the deadend parking lot of Waterworth Memorial Park off of Superior Avenue. The officer made contact with the occupant and affirmed there was no criminal activity. He was found to be under suspension and told him he could not legally drive and to get the issue corrected as soon as possible.
– Police responded to the 800 block of Jennings Avenue for a report of a prowler at 6:41 p.m. Monday. Nothing suspicious was found.
– A resident in the 2100 block of Monroe Street reported at 4:57 p.m. Monday two large elf decorations were taken from the property.
– An anonymous person spoke to an officer at the police station at 4:06 p.m. Monday to provide information pertaining to several business permit violations possibly occurring in the city. The information will be forwarded to the appropriate individuals for followup.

– Salem Police asked Perry Township officers to check South Ellsworth Avenue near the city limits for an intoxicated pedestrian at 7:51 p.m. Sunday while they checked inside the city. No intoxicated pedestrians were found.
– Police on patrol at 12:06 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street heard loud screaming/yelling coming from a residence. Police made contact with the residents who said there was an argument between friends over money. They were advised of the consequences if police had to return for the same problem.
– A resident in the 1200 block of Hampton Place reported a suspicious vehicle at 10:44 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle was found unoccupied and it appeared someone wrote with window paint on the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver who said friends wrote on the vehicle as a joke and he would wash it off.
– Loud persons were reported at 7:24 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street. A female said she got into an argument with her boyfriend. He was asked to leave by the homeowner which he did before police arrived. Nothing physical was reported.
– Police and KLG Ambulance responded to the 700 block of Stewart Road at 10:20 a.m. Saturday for a female who slipped on the ice and hurt her knee. She was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG.
– Loud music was reported at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but police were unable to hear anything.
– A barking dog complaint was made at 12:59 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Roosevelt, but the dog was not heard.
COLUMBIANA
– Police notified Norfolk and Southern at 3:23 p.m. Monday the crossing gates at the Pittsburgh and South Main crossing were malfunctioning.
– Police assisted a disabled pickup that was in a ditch on state Route 14 near The Links at Firestone Farms at 4:24 p.m. Monday. The driver told police they had pulled over and did not realize there was a ditch there. AAA was notified and the vehicle was towed. There was no property or vehicle damage.
LISBON
– A caller reported there was a suspicious vehicle parked at the corner of Pritchard Avenue Extension and Brown Street at 4 p.m. Saturday. Police found a vehicle parked in a no parking zone, and a person who identified himself as the owner came out of a home and agreed to move the vehicle into the driveway.
– Police assisted a sheriff’s deputy in arresting Timothy Wamsley Jr. at a North Market Street residence at 5:37 p.m. Saturday.
– Police kept an eye on a couple of people while Center Township officer Adam Little searched a vehicle just south of the bridge on South Market Street following a traffic stop at 2:37 p.m. Sunday.
– An official with the Vista Center reported Friday there was a possible theft of drugs by an employee.
– Karen Llewellyn, South Main Street, Columbiana, backed into another vehicle in the Circle K parking lot at 9 p.m. Thursday. The other vehicle was driven by Shannon Rebolt of Port Washington.
– Police were called to the Save A Lot on Dec. 22 in regard to a female customer attempting to pay with a counterfeit $50 bill. The officer used a special pen and determined it was counterfeit. The customer, Mandy Donaldson, 31, said she received the $50 bill from Cashland in Salem three days before. She was told to tell her husband to bring in any other $50 bills he might still have. He brought a $50 bill to the station and it passed the test.
– Police were called to Applegrove apartments at 9:48 a.m. Dec. 18 in regard to dispute between residents. The one person at the center of the dispute agreed to be transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be examined.

– Constable Dan Valentine reported that Brenda Deangelis, Carrie Lane, called in another burning report from Grafton Road. Valentine and Leetonia firefighters responded and determined the homeowner was not burning anything illegal.

– Robert D. Wagner, 44, West Chestnut Street, was cited for OVI and driving with expired license plates at 1:24 a.m. Sunday.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 5:44 a.m. Saturday two suspicious men were riding bicycles on Main Street from East Park Avenue and were wearing dark colored clothing. Police checked the area but did not see the men.
– Police conducted a welfare check on a Windrose Court resident at 6:22 a.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 call from a person who appeared to be confused. The resident was fine and in the company of their caregiver.
– Linda Porter reported at 1:58 p.m. Saturday her son Matthew Porter took her vehicle from Fairfield Avenue without permission. Porter, 32, also of Columbiana, was arrested for auto theft at 6:36 p.m. on Fairfield School Road.

Pidgeon Road, Salem, was charged with driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia after stopping in a vehicle to speak with an officer at the scene of an investigation in the 1500 block of Stone Castle Trail at 4:47 p.m. Sunday, and was known to have a forfeited license. His passenger, Joshua C. Board, 24, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem, was cited for wrongful entrustment.
– Police responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 6:31 p.m. Sunday for a report of a run away juvenile. An officer checked locations where the juvenile might have been, but was unsuccessful. The juvenile was entered into the missing database.
– Police responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue railroad tracks at 7:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of an intoxicated man in the roadway, but were unable to find anyone.
– Officers responded to a report of an open door on a storage building of a closed business in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:12 p.m. Sunday. The officers checked the interior and secured the door.
– A Monroe Street resident reported at 10:33 p.m. Sunday that a man was harassing her and her adult daughter via text messages. An officer left a voice message telling the man to stop.
– Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Fair Avenue and found a live-in couple in a verbal argument. They agreed to stay away from each other until they calmed down.
– A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with two occupants parked at Waterworth Memorial Park after hours at 1:25 a.m. Monday. They said they were just talking and were advised to move along.
– Officers responded to a report of an open door in the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:14 a.m. Monday and found the building unoccupied.
– Police responded to the 300 block of Vine Avenue at 7:52 a.m. Monday where a resident reported she believed she dropped her keys next to her car the previous night and that she found it missing that morning. There was obvious signs that it had been moved after it snowed due to the dry spot where it had been parked and tracks leaving the area.
– An officer responded to an alarm at a business in the 1000 block of East State Street at 8:30 a.m. Monday and found that the keyholder had accidentally set it off.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of East State Street at 9:14 a.m. Monday where a woman reported someone apparently struck the east side of the building with a vehicle, damaging the vinyl, sometime within the past several days.
– An officer responded to an alarm at a residential home in the 400 block of North Union Avenue at 9:20 a.m. Monday and found no one home but the doors and windows secure.
– A man reported on station at 11:58 a.m. Monday that a former tenant had been sending him harassing text messages and that he did not want any contact with her.
– Officers served a secret indictment on Joe Michael Smith, 29, 367 W. Ninth St., Salem, at a Fair Avenue home at 1:43 p.m. Monday.
– Police responded to a Merle Road home at 2:43 p.m. Monday for a report of someone breaking into a residence through the back door and found that a bank had contractors working at the home.
– Police responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 2:54 p.m. Monday for a report of a child left unattended in a vehicle. The vehicle had left prior to officer’s arrival, but the complainant provided license plate information.
– A Southeast Boulevard resident reported at 2:58 p.m. Monday that she replied to a text message she received from a number she believed belonged to a friend, but later realized it didn’t. She said the person continued to text her despite being told to stop. An officer left a voice message telling the person to stop.

– An officer responded to a 2400 block Lexington Avenue home at 6:28 p.m. Saturday where a resident had found his front door open upon returning home. The resident said that everything appeared to be okay and nothing missing.
– A boyfriend and girlfriend reported on station at 1:47 a.m. Sunday that they had been in an argument at a West Pershing Street home that had escalated into an altercation. They said they did not live together, and wanted the incident documented.
– Police responded with first responders and ambulance to an Oak Street home at 1:50 a.m. Sunday where a man requested transport to the hospital due to suicidal thoughts.
– Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 3:11 a.m. Sunday for a patient refusing to turn over a pocket knife before treatment. The staff said he gave it up before officers’ arrival.
– A patrolling officer observed a vehicle parked in the Salem High School parking lot at 3:25 a.m. Sunday. The driver was an adult male, but the 16-year-old female passenger was taken into custody for a curfew violation, transported to the station and released to her father.
– Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 4:38 a.m. Sunday for a report of a large fight, but were unable to find it. The complainant said several men had been outside wrestling and were currently inside an apartment being loud. Officers spoke with the men who were indeed being loud and advised them to keep the noise down.
– Police responded to the dead end area of North Madison Avenue and Bentley Drive at 5:11 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported a man standing in the wooded area wearing jeans, camouflage jacket and red ball cap. She said he was approximately 50 years old with gray facial hair and had possibly fled back into the woods before officers’ arrival. Officers searched the area but were unable to find him.
– Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:54 a.m. Sunday in reference to a distraught person and found a woman who had forgotten where she lived. Medics found that she had low blood sugar and transported her to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.
– An officer responded to a West Eighth Street home at 9:05 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone overnight had spray painted his garage doors.
– Officers responded to an East 10th Street home at 9:28 a.m. Sunday where the resident wished a man to be removed. The man, identified as William M. Alesi, 30, 195 Hawley Ave., Salem, was arrested on several active warrants out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.
– An officer responded to the 200 block of West 16th Street at 12:17 p.m. Sunday in reference to all-terrain vehicles in the roadway, but were unable to find any.
– Police responded to a panic alarm at an 1800 block East State Street business at 12:28 p.m. Sunday, but found that a worker had accidentally set it off.
– Officers responded with Perry Township police to a domestic dispute in the 1300 block of Beechwood Road, but the woman did not wish to pursue the matter and the man left to calm down. There were no apparent signs of physical injuries.
– Police responded to a 1200 block Cedar Ridge Drive at 1:22 p.m. Sunday where a man reported someone overnight had stolen the rear tires and rims off his vehicle while it was parked in his garage.
– A patrolling officer observed a man dressed in hunting attire carrying a black long arm rifle with a strap in the 1400 block of Allen Road at 1:37 p.m. Sunday. The man said that he was hunting deer with a friend. He was warned of the city ordinance prohibiting such action and he and his friend left without incident.

– Police responded to the 130 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:21 p.m. Friday where the store owner advised a man was coming into the store and staying for short periods and not buying anything on his lunch break. The store also reported that a woman had come in selling military items to the business advising they belonged to her brother who was killed in Afghanistan. She had tears in her eyes and the store owner and clerk felt the items were brought back in and were in the store but were never purchased there. The complainant wanted a report and was advised of the options.
– At 1:18 a.m. Friday, police observed a suspicious vehicle in the municipal parking lot in the 500 block of East Pershing Street and two 17-year-olds were charged with being unruly and released to a guardian.
– Police responded to the 100 block of South Howard Avenue for the third and final time regarding loud noises and arrested Tammy J. Souers and Jacob E. Andrews, both of 186 S. Howard Ave., for disorderly conduct persisting.
– Police responded to the 500 block of Franklin Ave. at 3:53 a.m. Friday for a person to be removed. The complainant wanted his girlfriend, who resided at the residence, and her family that did not reside there to leave. An officer explained the options and residence laws.
– Police responded to the 300 block of West 9th Street at 4:05 a.m. Friday to check on a wanted man for the Columbiana County sheriff. The person was not there.
– At 9:54 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue where the complainant advised the driver’s side window was broken out while his vehicle was parked in the street. Nothing was reported missing. The officer located another vehicle with the driver’s side window broken out and advised the owner who said he heard a loud noise at 1 a.m.
– At 1:48 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 200 block of West 11th Street where the complainant advised her ex-boyfriend had her DISH Network box and the company advised it will charge her if she doesn’t return it. She was advised it was a civil matter.
– Police responded to the 300 block of West 7th Street at 4:57 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised his vehicle was damaged while parked in the street the previous evening.
– At 6:08 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street where there was a property dispute and the complainant was advised it was a civil matter.
– Police responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 8:40 p.m. Thursday and Shawn A. Timmons, 921 Prospect St., was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the county jail.
– At 8:40 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 100 block of West State Street for a domestic dispute in progress. There was no physical violence and both were advised to go their separate ways for the evening.
– At 10:37 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 300 block of Jennings Avenue where the complainant advised their vehicle was damaged while parked in the road over night.

– A screaming 911 hang up call was received from the Chris Brown residence on East Lincoln Way at 3:44 a.m. Thursday. Brown called back to say he wanted a female to leave his apartment because she is a heroin user and completely messed up. By the time police arrived, the female was packing and preparing to leave.
-A screaming female called from a home on North Market Street at 12:23 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived and spoke with someone named Rex, who said his wife had been drinking with her medication. An ambulance was called to transport his wife to the hospital.
– Police responded to call at Applegrove apartments at 5:27 a.m. Friday in regard to a female resident with a knife, which was put away by the time an officer arrived. Police spoke with the woman, who said she was having bad thoughts, so an ambulance was summoned to transport her to a local hospital.
– While on patrol an officer came across a running vehicle sitting stationary in the middle of Sherman Street at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Behind the wheel with his foot on the brake was a person identified as Theren Michael Pearson. Police were unable to wake Pearson and the officer had to use the lock-out tool to unlock the door. Pearson was conscious but unresponsive, so an ambulance was called to transport him to a local hospital.
– Michael T. Malone, North Jefferson Street, was cited for failure to yield the right of way after pulling into the path of a vehicle operated by Jesse A. Reed, 35, West Washington Street, resulting in an accident. This occurred at the intersection of East Pine and North Jefferson streets at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday.
COLUMBIANA
– Robert Macklin requested at 12:41 a.m. Thursday police escort him to his home on North Elm Street to keep the peace with his soon to be-ex wife Kayla Macklin.
– Gary Groom, 64, Sewickly, Pa., was eastbound on East Park Avenue at 6:37 p.m. Thursday and failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road into a ditch before going back onto the road. No citations were issued and a passenger, Alice Markovski, Sewickly, Pa., was taken to the Salem hospital with possible injuries.

– Chris Mitchell, of East Perry Street, reported at 7:48 a.m. Thursday that a window on the side of his vehicle was damaged while the vehicle was parked in front of his residence.
– An alarm was reported at 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Jennings Avenue, with the exterior found secure.
– The Ohio State Highway Patrol called police at 7:24 a.m. Thursday to check on a red Buick westbound on East State Street near Walmart with its 4-way flashers on and traveling slow. The vehicle was not located.
– Police responded to East Pershing Street and South Union Avenue where a couch was reported in the street at 4:36 a.m. Thursday. It was moved off the street.
– Elliott Crank, 19, of 942 E. Fifth St., and Gregory Weingart, 19, of 1440 Orchard Ct., were each charged with underage consumption after an officer parked in the area of Hawley Avenue at 3:53 a.m. Thursday saw them walking then saw them begin running when they saw the police car. One male was seen attempting to climb a wall west of Smith Oil on East State Street. Both were taken into custody, charged and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– An open door was reported at 3:20 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of East State Street. The interior was checked and a keyholder responded to secure the business.
– Police were called at 3:15 a.m. Thursday for a disorderly person in the emergency department at Salem Regional Medical Center. The person was identified as the same person from an earlier call at 1:58 a.m. in the Burger King parking lot for a fight. The person was intoxicated and said he and his girlfriend had an argument, but no physical altercation. He was taken to the hospital by KLG. A male nurse reported the person was cursing out loud. He was told to stop his disorderly action.
-Suspicious activity was reported at 1:55 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East Third Street. An anonymous caller said there was a lot of traffic and there was a concern it may be drug-related. Officers attempted to find the residence in question, but it didn’t exist and nothing suspicious was found in the area.
– A fight between two males was reported at 1:01 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street. One male said he got into an argument with another male on North Lincoln Avenue, but nothing physical took place. He no longer wanted him there. The other party was found and told he’s no longer welcome. He was taken home.
– Police were called at 11:54 p.m. Wednesday to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street for an alleged fight. The homeowner said there was no fight, just an argument. The other party said the same and left for the night.
– Police were called at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a report of an assault victim. It turned out to be the victim from an earlier call who wanted no investigation but said the alleged incident occurred on Walnut Street. The earlier report at 10:39 p.m. was for a male who fell in the road at South Lundy Avenue and Franklin. Two males were found who had not fallen, then another call came for a male who fell near Pershing and Broadway and had a cut on his head. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance reported to the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital.
– A dispute was reported at 9:32 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue. A woman said she got into an argument with her parents. Nothing physical occurred. She left for the night.
– Police were called at 9:23 p.m. Wednesday to Quaker Village, 201 S. Lincoln Ave., for an irate male who was yelling and had thrown several items. The man was calmed down and fire department first responders and KLG came to the scene. He was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Charges are pending. Police were originally called to Walnut Street where residents said a male who resides across the street was seen in their driveway tampering with one resident’s work vehicle. When confronted, he reportedly said he was getting a gallon of milk from the truck’s tank. The report said the truck was not a milk truck but a chemical supply truck. There was no damage to the truck. The man had left and ended up at the store on Lincoln Avenue where he frightened the clerk and reached for her when he asked for a pen. He knocked down some merchandise and began yelling at several other customers.
– A caller at 7:52 p.m. Wednesday reported a male was allegedly threatening to come to the residence on North Ellsworth Avenue to cause physical harm to someone. An officer spoke with the other person who said no threats were made. Both were told to stop all forms of communication with each other for the night.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday in the area of South Ellsworth Avenue and Pershing Street. The vehicle was found and was obeying all traffic laws.
– A transient was given a ride to Barnett’s Motel on U.S. Route 62 at 5:31 p.m. Wednesday through the transient program.
– An officer at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday was contacted by Hubbard Police regarding a complaint at their department for an alleged sexual assault that possibly occurred in Salem or Perry Township. The officer gathered information on the persons involved and the other officer planned to fax their report to Salem for further investigation.
-A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Southeast Boulevard and Ridgewood. No violations were observed.
– A woman responded to the police department at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday with her juvenile daughter regarding suspicious and harassing text messages her daughter began receiving from an unidentified person in the past several days. An officer found the number originated from Connecticut. He suggested she change her phone number.
– A woman from Southeast Boulevard reported at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday that she was getting text messages from her ex-boyfriend that she considered threatening in nature towards her. She wanted documentation.
– Police received a report at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday of a man acting suspicious and taking off his shirt and yelling in an alley between Euclid and Perry Street. He was not found.
– George Finkley Jr. 29, of East Fifth Street, was cited for assured clear distance after his eastbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by William Dawes, 38, of Ridge Road, who was approaching a red light on East State Street at Ohio Avenue at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday.
– A parking ticket was issued on a vehicle parked on the curb on Maple at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
– Police were called at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday for a possible fight with a gun in the 600 block of Bricker Lane. Contact was made with a female at the residence in question who said there was no problem. Contact was also made at the home where the call originated and a resident said nobody called. An investigation was pending.
COLUMBIANA
– An officer on patrol found some downed lines at the south electric substation at 4:47 a.m. Wednesday. The electrical superintendent was advised.
– A mother asked police to check on a domestic dispute between her son and his girlfriend at her home on East Friend Street at 5 a.m. Wednesday. Police determined Jamie Phillips and Tracey Bowser had been arguing and they agreed to stay away from each other for the rest of the night. Phillips called back at 5:43 a.m. to ask that an officer stand by while he removed a baby and some personal items from the residence.
– A resident of Manor Drive reported someone was selling Iowa steaks without a permit at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday. Police checked the area but did not come across the person.
– A security alarm was going off at United Rentals at 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, and police arrived to secure an open door.
– Kelsie Reed, 19, of Toronto, was arrested at the Sparkle Market at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for receiving stolen property out of the county sheriff’s office.
SALEM TWP.
– Richard A. Hoffman, 52, Butcher Hill Road, Leetonia, reported receiving a letter from the Illinois Turnpike Commission stating he owed $89 for failing to pay four tolls from Nov. 21. Hoffman said he does not have any commercial vehicles in his name, and someone must have stolen his identity.

PERRY TOWNSHIP REPORTS
– Michael David Putman, 29, of Canton, was cited for driving under OVI suspension after a traffic stop at 8:43 a.m. Wednesday on West State Street at Benton Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
– A resident in the 1200 block of Benton Road reported at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday that a suspicious red truck drove past their property several times. Police checked the area, but did not find the truck.
– Prima Health Care in Columbiana called at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday to request a welfare check on a patient who has been having issues and resides in the 1200 block of West State Street. Police spoke with the patient who advised they had an appointment with Prima and were doing better.
– A man in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue called police at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday in reference to his three kids who had not returned home. After an officer spoke with him multiple times, it was determined the kids may be at a friend’s house in Salem Acres. Police responded to Salem Acres on Prospect Street, located the kids and took them home. The father was told to contact Juvenile Court if he wants to pursue unruly charges.
– Police learned at 7:06 p.m. Monday that a male identified as James Cunningham Jr. of Salineville, gave false information during a traffic stop on Dec. 20. He was already incarcerated at the Columbiana County jail on unrelated charges and was served by Perry Township Police with charges of driving under suspension, duty to display license, a vehicle equipment violation and furnishing false information to an officer issuing a citation.
SALEM REPORTS
– Police responded to West Fourth Street at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday for an attempted suicide call. The man at the residence said he made comments about needing to take medication for an existing illness and someone may have misunderstood. Medical personnel arrived and found him fine medically.
– Police responded at 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of Vine Avenue to speak with a woman about a telephone harassment complaint.
– Police were called at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street where a woman reported her son was refusing to come home. An officer spoke to him and he agreed to go home.
– An officer on patrol at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday saw an unattended fire at the rear of a residence in the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue. He attempted to contact the residents, but no one answered. The fire department was summoned and put the fire out. Police had been called to the same residence earlier for a complaint of a large fire, but found it to be legal size.
– Police responded at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of East Third Street to check the well being of a male resident who said he was having thoughts of harming himself. Fire department first responders and EMT arrived and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
– Police went to a residence in the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 9:36 p.m. Tuesday regarding a juvenile residing there who possibly had information on a missing juvenile. The resident said his daughter no longer lived there and he had no information on the missing juvenile.
– An unattended fire was reported at the rear of a property in the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday. Contact was attempted with the residents, but there was no answer. The fire department was summoned and put out the fire.
– A woman in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue reported at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday that someone removed money from her bank account without permission.
– Police confiscated two license plates on behalf of the BMV from a car in a parking lot on Vine Avenue at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. The resident, who is suspended, was notified.
– A vehicle owned by Rebecca Smith, of West 10th Street, was reported damaged at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday while in the parking lot of the Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., while her daughter was there. Someone apparently backed into the vehicle, causing the license plate to be ripped off and damaging the front bumper. The license plate was recovered by police in the parking lot at 9:01 a.m. Tuesday.
– Emily Garman, 20, 348 E. Seventh St., was taken into custody at 8:27 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for dangerous drugs. She was turned over to a deputy and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
COLUMBIANA REPORTS
– A man reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday a car was parked in front of a No Parking sign at Court and Prospect streets. Police found the owner of the vehicle and they agreed to have it moved.
– Nicole Scharrenberger, age and address not listed, was cited for license suspension following a traffic stop at Firestone Park and East Salem Street at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday.
