County Sheriff

— A deputy was dispatched at 10:44 p.m. Saturday to Shelby Road, Center Township, for a domestic violence report. Frederick Earl Kruger, 34, Shelby Road, Lisbon, was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence and felonious assault and taken to the Columbiana County jail.

— A woman reported at 6:09 p.m. Saturday that she received a call from who she believed was her bank, but it appeared to be a scam. She called the number and spoke to the person, who advised her basic information, but then the person began to ask for personal information. She gave no information and her bank was notified of the call.

— A deputy was dispatched to Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township at 4:19 p.m. Saturday for a domestic violence report. A refusal was signed by both parties involved.

— Chippewa Township Police, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, called at 3:44 p.m. Saturday to request a deputy make contact with a woman on Brushville Road, Unity Township, in Columbiana County, to have her call them regarding a hit/skip she was involved in with her vehicle. A deputy made contact with her and did observe damage to the passenger side of her vehicle.

— A man on Lisbon Road, Salem Township reported at 3:01 p.m. Saturday that his license plate on his trailer was gone and last seen the day before. He justed wanted a report on file for a stolen license plate.

— A disturbance was reported in the area of state Route 11 in Madison Township at 2:59 a.m. Saturday, but a deputy and an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper checked the area and made no contact with any persons needing assistance. A man in a vehicle was found on East Liverpool Road, but was not involved. Nothing suspicious was found.

— An alarm was reported at the Farmers National Bank on U.S. Route 62, Butler Town ship at 1:18 a.m. Saturday. The business appeared secure when checked.

— A caller at 4:50 p.m. Friday advised he shot a dog who had been roaming on his property for the last two weeks, saying the dog had attacked and killed his rooster and chickens. He was advised a report would be on file and he may dispose of the animals.

— Vases were reported stolen from three family members’ graves at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery on 12th Street, Beloit at 3:38 p.m. Friday.

— A deputy was dispatched to Old Lincoln Highway at 3:41 p.m. Friday regarding a medical involving an apparent intoxicated older man. It was advised he believed he was drugged by his friend from a can of alcohol that he opened. An ambulance arrived and the man refused treatment against medical advice.

— A deputy conducted a warrant attempt at Malone Road, Washington Township at 8:40 p.m. Thursday. The person, who’s name was not included on the report, was placed in custody and taken to the county jail.

— A property dispute was reported at 1:33 p.m. Thursday on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township. A deputy tried several times to reach the person, but was unable and left a message.

— Deputies responded at 6:04 a.m. Thursday for multiple panic alarms and fire alarms called in at 5:27 a.m. Thursday on Ellsworth Avenue, West Township. Sandy Creek Fire had cleared the scene with no findings. Deputies met with the resident who advised of problems with the alarm system. A call had been placed to the alarm company for repair.

— A suspicous vehicle was reported in a driveway on Y & O Road, Madison Township at 3:29 a.m. Thursday. The yard and out buildings were checked and found secure. There was no evidence of any other motor vehicle at the property except what was supposed to be there and no evidence of persons.

— A deputy conducted a welfare check on Sprucevale Road, Middleton Township at 5:26 p.m. Oct. 1 and found the person was okay. The deputy called the person’s relative to advice them the person was okay.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 10:38 p.m. Friday in reference to a civil standby for an individual who had reported on station threats of assault had been made by against him if he collects his belongings from the home. Officers stood by while the person collected his belongings and advised him how to get a protection order.

— An officer responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 5:32 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile who had jumped a fence and run away. The officer checked the area, but was unable to find the juvenile, who was entered into LEADS.

— Allen Scott Vancooney, 30, Franklin Avenue, Salem, was charged with theft after officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 4:31 p.m. Friday where he allegedly stole $351.71 in merchandise and fled in a vehicle. Officers located the Vancooney in the 900 block of East State Street, conducted a traffic stop and took him into custody.

— An officer responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:58 p.m. Friday where a woman reported a nephew of whom she has custody three a cup at the wall while be watched by a babysitter and that she has started the process of pursuing unruly juvenile charges.

— An officer responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:47 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute regarding relationship issues and the complainant wanting the other person to leave the home. Both individuals were found to be residents of the home and officers were unable to make either leave willingly. The complaint agreed to leave for the weekend.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Benton Road at 3:35 p.m. Friday in reference to a dispute regarding a someone having the someone else’s property. Officers stood by while the property was returned.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1500 block of Westview Drive at 3:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a natural death. Officers found the tenant to be deceased and stood by until a funeral home arrived on scene.

— An officer responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 3:01 p.m. Friday in reference to a lawn care business using a leaf blower in the parking lot which was throwing debris onto vehicles. The officer spoke with an employee of the business who said they could complete the job at another time.

— An officer responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:57 p.m. Friday where a resident reported having a stick on the inside of her window holding it shut the previous night, but she found the stick had fallen to the floor when she woke up and she was concerned someone may have tried to enter her home. The resident said all her doors were locked and window alarms working properly. The officer advised an extra watch would be placed in her area.

— A complainant reported on station at 2:13 p.m. Friday a sex offense that had occurred within the city approximately five years ago. The matter was forwarded to a detective.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 12:33 p.m. Friday where a complainant reported someone had broken into her storage shed and took several items.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:56 a.m. Friday in reference to open burning with a lot of smoke at a home. Officers found someone burning trash in an unattended fire. The fire department responded to the extinguish the flames.

— An officer responded to the 200 block West State Street business at 5:48 p.m. Thursday in reference to a male customer who took a vehicle on a test drive and had not returned in the agreed upon time. Officers attempted to contact the customer by phone without success. Warren police were advised and responded to the customer’s home. The vehicle was located and towed back to the business. Charges are pending for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

— Kenton James Knight, Buckey Avenue, Salem, was cited for improper backing following a two-vehicle crash at North Ellsworth Avenue and East 12th Street at 3:44 p.m. Thursday in which he was stopped at the stop sign and attempted to back up so a bus could turn, striking the vehicle behind him driven by Shanleigh Luck, Southeast Boulevard, Salem. No injuries were reported.
