Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies responded at 1:02 p.m. Monday to the Opportunity School on Brookfield Avenue, Lisbon for a juvenile call.

— A welfare check was requested on a person at a residence on state Route 14, Unity Township at 8:46 a.m. Monday, with the caller not hearing from the person for some time and their phone going directly to voicemail. Deputies arrived and talked to the person, who said he has not had electric to charge his phone, but he is fine. He said he’ll charge the phone at the neighbors and get in touch with the caller.

— A deputy responded to Haessly Road, Hanoverton at 9:09 p.m. Sunday to assist another unit, making contact with a person over their relative’s phone. They were told to give the other agency who was trying to contact them, a call.

— An alleged protection order violation was reported at 7:46 p.m. Sunday on Plymouth Street, Hanoverton where a deputy spoke to both parties involved and found no violation of the order.

— Neighbor troubles were reported at 7:29 p.m. Sunday on Speidel Road, Hanover Township. A deputy spoke with the caller and advised them how to proceed.

— A deputy at 6:26 p.m. Sunday returned a call to a Hanover Township resident, state Route 644, regarding a menacing complaint. They just wanted a report on file and were told how to proceed.

— A welfare check was requested at a state Route 170, Unity Township property, but while a deputy was en route, he was told to cancel. The caller who requested it called in and advised the person in question was fine.

— A representative of Dollar General, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, reported at 7:33 p.m. Saturday that an unknown woman entered the store and put laundry soap, dryer sheets, dish soap and house cleaning soap in her purse, did not pay for the items, then walked out of the store, got into a vehicle and left.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:15 p.m. Saturday to Y Camp Road, Madison Township regarding a no contact order and learned the suspect had a warrant out of the sheriff’s office for failure to appear on assault. Chad A. Smith, last known address Weirton, W.Va., according to county Municipal Court records, was taken into custody on the warrant.

— A woman on Mick Road, Yellow Creek Township reported at 11:04 p.m. Friday that there’s a no contact order out of county Municipal Court against her ex-boyfriend and he’s texting her cell phone saying he’s coming back to the residence.

— A crisis center in Mahoning County reported at 5:12 p.m. Friday that a person who was in their care getting a medical evaluation made comments about killing a family member that resides on St. Jacob Logtown Road, Salem Township. A deputy spoke by phone with the family member about the comments made and they were aware.

— A welfare check was requested at 6:44 p.m. April 9 on Signal Road, Fairfield Township. A deputy found the people in question to be fine.

— Deputies responded at 7:07 p.m. April 6 to Richardson Street, Middleton Township for a reported domestic, but were unable to make contact with either party. Dispatch called both parties and were sent to voicemail. The man called back at a later time and denied any type of altercation occurred.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pershing Street at 10:37 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that a juvenile in the home was threatening them. While the caller and their wife were completing statements about the incident, the juvenile in question advised officers that he would harm himself due to the current living situations in the home. First responders and EMT were called to the scene, and the juvenile was ultimately transported to Akron Children’s Hospital for a mental evaluation. Statements were collected from the caller and his wife, and further investigation will continue.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 7:27 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a neighbor parks too close to their driveway, and it makes it difficult to enter and exit the driveway. Officers observed the vehicle to be legally parked but spoke with the owner, and he agreed to move back.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Merle Road at 5:14 p.m. Monday for a possible water line break. Officers located a small break and requested a note to be left for the fire department.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question, and they were eventually transported to the emergency room by ambulance.

— Officers were flagged down in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:47 p.m. Monday for a wellness check on a person slumped over in their car. Officers spoke with the driver, who advised that they had worked a late shift and pulled over to take a quick nap. She advised that she did not need any medical attention and that everything was okay.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 600 block of Park Avenue at 10:13 a.m. Monday for a reported natural death. The caller advised that they had come over to check on the person in question and found them unresponsive. Officers located the person, and did not observe anything suspicious, and the coroner was notified. Officers were able to locate the next of kin and notified them as well. Officers stood by on scene until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Columbia Street at 2 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person walking in the area. Officers checked the area and surrounding streets but did not observe anyone.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 2 p.m. Saturday for a report of criminal damage to several motor vehicles. Officers collected all information on the affected vehicles and photographed the damage, which appeared to be from pellet guns.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:01 p.m. Saturday for a reported road rage incident. Officers spoke with both drivers involved after a brief physical altercation, and neither wanted to pursue the matter. The incident was documented in case further problems develop in the future.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:03 a.m. Friday for a reported intoxicated man. The man in question was becoming belligerent and starting to expose himself and the caller requested they be removed. Due to the man’s level of intoxication officers requested medical personnel and EMT responded and transported the man.

— Officers responded with the Goshen Police District to the 1400 block of Country Club Lane at 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a reported road rage incident. The caller advised that another driver had passed him illegally and began brake checking him on East State Street and that the situation had escalated at the intersection of the U.S. Route 62 bypass until both vehicles stopped on Ohio Boulevard. The caller advised that he had approached the other driver to resolve the issue and was threatened with multiple weapons. He provided a license plate number for the vehicle and a written statement. Officers responded to the residence of the other driver, James Huckle, Salem, who admitted that he had a knife during the incident and also gave a written statement. Huckle was arrested for aggravated menacing and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Plymouth Place at 12:55 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised officers that a shed company had come and taken their shed and had damaged their yard and fence. Photos were taken of the damage, and the caller was advised that a report would be on file.

— Officers responded to the overpass of Goshen Road at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday for a report of runaway juveniles. When officers arrived the staff of the group home were on scene and able to get the juvenile in their vehicle and take them home.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 6:23 p.m. Wednesday for a reported abandoned house that was caving in. The area was taped off and utility companies were contacted to shut off all utilities.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised officers that their neighbor’s chickens keep coming onto her and other neighbors’ properties. Officers observed the chickens on the caller’s property but were unable to contact their owner at that time.

Leetonia

— Omar Witherspoon, no age or address listed, was cited for expired registration following a traffic stop on Hazel Street at 3:56 p.m. April 11 for marked lanes

— An officer responded to a 100 block High Street home at 12:09 a.m. April 11 in reference to a man stalking a juvenile and being caught looking through at window at the home. The man was described as in his 30s or 40s wearing a red ball cap and driving a white van with a ladder on top.

— A 400 block Chestnut Street resident reported at 2:49 p.m. April 10 finding a handwritten note that said “I found you” in her mailbox.

— An officer responded to the 100 block of Lisbon Street at 4:39 p.m. April 8 in reference to a single-vehicle crash and found a juvenile driver had lost control of the vehicle, traveling off the road and striking a tree. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to a 200 block Chestnut Street home at 3:01 p.m. April 9 in reference to a domestic dispute. The individuals involved said nothing physical had occurred. An officer returned to the home at 6:38 p.m. where one of the individuals involved was having a mental break down. The individual was transported by Columbiana EMS to the Salem hospital.

— Officers were advised of a mailbox torn off and picnic table shattered at a Madison Street business at 10:37 a.m. April 9.

— Jonathan Cook, 42, Leetonia, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and criminal damaging and endangerment after officers responded to the 200 block of Oak Street at 4:48 p.m. April 6 where he was allegedly screaming and throwing items at his neighbors, damaging their property. He allegedly barricaded himself inside his home before exiting and allowing officers to detain him.

— Danielle Kenst, 46, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and her passenger, Rachel Snodgrass, 51, Salem, was cited for wrongful entrustment following a traffic stop at state Route 344 and Commerce Street at 7:29 p.m. April 4.

— Jonathan Corbin, 28, Brewster, was cited for speeding and expired registration following a traffic stop at state Route 344 and Water Street at 11:54 a.m. April 4.

— Daniel Meade, 53, Lisbon, was cited for OVI, speeding and a stop sign violation following a traffic stop at Washington Street and Old State 344 at 12:38 a.m. April 4.

— Jaime Lynn Dyer, Youngstown, was cited for driving under suspension, right of way at stop signs and failure to indicate when turning following a traffic stop on Cherry Fork Avenue at 7:49 p.m. April 2.

— An officer responded to the a Hazel Street business at 5:20 p.m. April 2 in reference to a theft that had happened at approximately noon that day.
