Glenna L. Zingg

1942-2025
Glenna L. Zingg (nee Baker), formerly of Alliance, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Horizon West Hospital in Winter Garden, Florida with her immediate family by her side. She was 83.
Glenna was born on January 28, 1942 in the small town of Alliance, Ohio. She is the only daughter of the late Glenn P. Baker and Mabel M. (Duncan) Baker. Glenna, or “Susie”, was also preceded in death by her three older brothers whom she adored, Edwin “Eddie” G. Baker, James “Jim” N. Baker, and G. Duane Baker.
A 1960 graduate of Alliance High School, she remained in the area for most of her life working at Brunswick Boats, Midland Buckeye Savings and Loan, and then stepping out of her work life to become a full-time Mom to her only son for a decade. She also was involved in card clubs, bowling leagues, and loved to dance.
Glenna primarily worked in the West Branch School system for 25 years after re-entering the work force. She will be most fondly remembered as the West Branch High School Secretary for the majority of that time. She was a true pillar amongst her family, her neighbors, and the West Branch Schools community.
She enjoyed working in her many flower beds around her home on Margaret Lane, taking care of the many pets she had over the years, going to her son’s various sports activities, band, choir, and community theater performances at Carnation City Players in Alliance and Little Radical Theatrics in Orlando, Florida, and visiting with family and friends as often as she could. Everyone who knew her will tell you she was very kind, helpful, and someone you could always count on. She will be truly missed by all.
Besides her loving husband to whom she was married for 60 years, Warner W. Zingg, she is survived by her son, Warner P. Zingg, both now of Winter Garden, Florida, two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law (Elmer and Louise (Zingg) Weber and Al and Patty (Henderson) Zingg both in the Alliance area and Marlene (Driver) Baker of Carefree, Arizona), many nieces, nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her two furry grandcats, Benny and Arabella, and two stray furry grandcats, Lovey and Joey.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a Celebration of Life Service at Carnation City Players, The Firehouse Theater, 450 East Market Street, Alliance, Ohio 44601 on Sunday, October 12 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Service will be at 3:30 p.m. at the theater with burial immediately following at Mount Union Cemetery in Alliance, Ohio, just beyond Silver Park.
Flowers may be sent to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Per the deceased’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to Carnation City Players “in memory of Glenna Zingg” or to a local, no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
