Sewer system project in Hanoverton starting after contract awarded

LISBON — The project to help qualifying residents connect to the new sewer system in Hanoverton is finally starting after Columbiana County commissioners recently awarded the contract to Murphy Excavating LLC for $147,000. Murphy submitted the lone bid the second time around after the project was rebid this spring. Driver ID’d in pedestrian fatal in Perry Township

SALEM — The driver involved in a fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash near the Salem Golf Club on state Route 45 on June 18 has been identified as Gage M. Palmer, 23, Steubenville, according to the recently issued Ohio State Highway Patrol report. Palmer was northbound on state Route 45 at 6:17 p.m. when his Oldsmobile 88 traveled off of the right side of the roadway, struck the pedestrian, then drove back onto the roadway to the right and struck a culvert.
