Salem council recognizes high school’s track and field standouts

SALEM — City council recently recognized Salem High School’s track and field standouts. Mayor Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey recognized the outstanding performance of Salem City School District students at the state track and field meet and presented them with certificates of recognition and appreciation for their efforts. West Branch school board hires new treasurer

BELOIT – The West Branch school board has hired a new treasurer. The board recently approved a five-year contract to Lucas Cooper effective Aug. 1 at $104,040 annually. Cooper most recently served as treasurer for the Columbiana County Educational Service Center (CCESC), where he managed financial operations, oversaw state and federal funding, and worked closely with school leaders to promote fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability. Salem school board approves athletic membership in Northeast Eight

SALEM — The board of education approved a membership agreement to join the Northeast Eight Conference in 2027 in its June 15 meeting. The board of education voted unanimously to approve an agreement to join the conference with membership participation set to begin in the 2027-2028 school year. New Waterford to sell its ambulances

NEW WATERFORD — The village has decided to sell its two ambulances. Council this month approved a motion to put the ambulances up for sale by sealed bid. Village Mayor Shane Patrone said the ambulances were originally purchased from funds used for Fire and EMS and therefore any money received from their sale will go back into those funds. The ambulances are no longer needed due to the village halting its EMS services for now due to lack of funding and manpower. County park board approves 2027 proposed budget

LISBON — The Columbiana County Park District Board approved next year’s proposed budget totaling $86,350, hired a second seasonal maintenance worker and approved a roof repair contract during a special meeting Monday. “Our biggest expenses are utilities, employees and port-a-jons,” Chairman Tom Butch said, along with maintenance.
