Salem council passes first reading honoring Earle Bruce

SALEM - The city council Thursday held the first reading of an ordinance which would rename a section of East Pershing Street in honor of a famous former Salem coach.  If approved, the proposed ordinance would give the section of East Pershing Street in front of Sebo Stadium between Lincoln and Ohio avenues the honorary designation “Earle Bruce Way” in memory of the eponymous hall of fame coach.  First discussed in an April 21 meeting of the public services committee, the honorary designation was proposed by Salem Athletic Hall of Fame Chairman Matt Mowery. Closure of Saltwell Road intersection extended

LISBON — The closure of Saltwell Road from state Route 45 to Dickey Drive has been extended nearly a week, with the road expected to reopen May 14. Lisbon Water Department Senior Plant Operator Chris Peterson announced the extended closure, saying the project to replace a collapsed sewer line is taking a little longer than expected. Lisbon council addresses ‘no parking’ sign

LISBON — Lisbon Village Council addressed a complaint about the recent appearance of a no parking sign on East Washington Street near Ketchum’s Kreations by agreeing to a temporary sign of no parking here to corner. That would leave room for at least two parking spots at the business, Mayor Peter Wilson said.
