PERRY TWP.
– An officer assisted a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy serve a protection order at a Canterbury Lane home at 5:29 p.m. Friday, but the person was not at the residence.
– Police responded with the fire department at 10:17 a.m. Saturday to a natural gas leak in the 2300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue caused by someone striking a line while digging. Police and fire personnel checked the area, but were unable to find the leak until Columbia Gas arrived with the correct location.
– A patrolling officer at 12:40 p.m. Saturday observed a small juvenile riding an electric scooter down the wrong side of the street in the 1800 block of East 11th Street with another juvenile on a bicycle. The children were located at a home on the street and the officer spoke with them and a parent about laws regarding riding toys in the street.
– Joseph Thomas Moore, 20, Damascus, was cited for fictitious plates following a traffic stop on Georgetown Road at 5:59 p.m. Saturday.
– Ana Vasquez, 22, Pittsburgh, was cited for failure to yield following a two-vehicle crash at state Route 45 and Georgetown Road at 10:37 p.m. Saturday in which she was westbound and failed to yield from the stop sign, pulling into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Gary Sell, Salem. Vasquez was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital for evaluation.
– A 1900 state Route 9 resident reported at 12:55 p.m. Sunday finding her mailbox and a lighthouse figure missing from her yard, with her neighbor’s mailbox where the lighthouse had been. The Cider Mill Road neighbor responded to pick up her mailbox, and reported the assembly had been broken off at the ground and removed. The officer could not locate the lighthouse.
– A Stewart Road resident sought information regarding child custody at 9:39 p.m. Sunday and was advised it was civil in nature and he needed to contact his attorney.
SALEM
– An officer responded to an East Euclid Street business at 11:01 a.m. Monday to speak with employees regarding a theft problem at the business in which several items and property had been removed by a suspected employee within the past few months. After speaking with the employees some of the items were recovered at a private residence outside city limits.
– Police responded to a Walnut Street home at 11:38 a.m. Monday where a resident had been home alone and suffered an unknown medical issue, causing severe bleeding. The resident was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.
– An officer responded to a Southeast Boulevard home at 4:17 p.m. Monday to check on a mentally handicapped adult who had gotten off the bus angry and attacked his father. The officer found both the man and his father to be fine.
– Police responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 5:31 p.m. Monday in reference to a juvenile riding his bicycle along the roadway. The 8-year-old boy was located in the lobby of a nearby hotel and he was advised to return to his home in the area via less traveled roads after officers spoke with his mother. The boy then rode across State Street to a plaza and entered a business. Officers followed him and again spoke with him, at which time he became unruly and attempted to flee. The boy bit an officer, as well as flailed and kicked, while the officer attempted to restrain him. Upon arrival, the boy’s mother agreed to have him transported to the Salem hospital for evaluation.
– Officers responded to the east-west alleys between Rose and Hawley avenues at 6:” p.m. Monday in reference to a tree limb obstructing the roadway and found a large tree limb still attached, but only a few feet from the power lines. The street department and Ohio Edison were contacted.
– Police responded to a North Ellsworth Avenue home at 6:52 p.m. Monday where a resident reported his granddaughter had been in an argument with another juvenile in the area. Officers advised the juveniles not to play with each other any more.
– A Continental Drive resident reported at 7:42 p.m. Monday receiving unwanted text messages of a threatening nature from a person she knows.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of East State Street at 8:24 p.m. Monday in reference to a suspicious person using an ATM. Officers located the man on East Pershing Street near Ohio Avenue and recognized him as a city resident. He appeared to have consumed alcohol, but did not display any signs of disorderly or dangerous characteristics.
– A patrolling officer observed several juveniles riding bicycles on the tennis courts at Centennial Park at 8:39 p.m. Monday. The juveniles were advised of the park rules and sent on their way.
– Officers responded to a Fair Avenue home at 9:04 p.m. Monday where a woman reported the resident had threatened her with bodily harm if she came downstairs and that she was afraid to leave because of the threat. She said she was moving out and needed to retrieve some personal items. The resident denied threatening the complainant and was advised of the eviction process.
– Police responded to a West Wilson Street home at 9:06 p.m. Monday where the residents reported a neighboring juvenile had been harassing them. An officer spoke with the juvenile’s mother and advised everyone to stay away from each other.
– Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 9:18 p.m. Monday where a man had collapsed while talking with a friend. The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– Officers following up on an incident in the 400 block of Fair Avenue at 10:18 p.m. Monday heard yelling across the street and found a man yelling and banging inside his home. Officers determined that the woman he had been arguing with had already left the scene, but the man would not come to the door. Officers eventually spoke with the man and he refused treatment from first responders.
– Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 9:01 a.m. Tuesday, but neither person would cooperate with them. The officers found no probable cause to charge either person.
– An officer responded to a Ridgewood Drive home at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday where medical personnel had responded to the resident’s health monitor alert, but found no one inside the residence. The officer determined that the resident’s dog had set it off.
– An officer responded to the 500 block of West Sixth Street at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an obstruction in the roadway and found a cable line hanging down from a utility pole across the roadway and yard of an apparent vacant home.
LISBON
– Police were called to Vista Drive at 7:16 p.m. Aug. 23. Eric S. Ivan said he was riding a zero-turn mower when it slid down the hill into a parked car belonging to Frank Sangara of Salem.
– Police were called to attorney Larry Stacey’s office on North Beaver Street at 4:40 p.m. Thursday after a client by the name of Wallace stopped by unannounced and found the door open but no one around. Stacey could not be reached, but the office did not appear as if it had burglarized, so the police officer locked the door.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 8:46 p.m. Monday there was an outside electric line on fire at Heartland School. Police and firefighters responded.
– An elderly woman requested assistance with trying to find her dog at 12:42 p.m. Monday. Police found the dog was at the woman’s home.
– Robert Macklin Jr., West Friend Street, reported at 1:27 p.m. Monday his ex-wife was harassing him by phone. Kayla Macklin was charged with violating a protection order.
– Jessica Hawkins, Camelot Drive, reported at 2:51 p.m. Monday her car was keyed sometime during the night.
– Austintown police requested at 5 p.m. Monday police check the West Salem Street apartments for a man who reportedly lived there. Police checked and was told that the man does not live there, although his relatives do.
– A man reported at 11:37 p.m. Monday a flat bed pickup truck with a refrigerator in the back was driving recklessly northbound on state Route 7 at slow speeds and was going left of center. The truck later turned into a gas station and resecured the load and police did not see the driver make any traffic violations.
– Police assisted the highway patrol with a crash on state Route 14 at 6 a.m. Monday.
SALEM TWP.
– Janet Bobby, secretary for Doug Davidson Trucking reported at 9 a.m. Monday someone was obtaining fraudulent checks from the business’ account. She reported that on July 30 someone was able to get a plus one advance check in Pennsylvania for $813 and two more on Aug. 1, one for $997 in Maryland and another for $990 in Virginia. The matter is under investigation.

– James Lee Cunningham Jr., 34, East Liverpool, was taken in custody during a traffic stop on South State Street at 1:32 p.m. Sunday on a warrant through Boardman Township Police Department.
– A South Bayshore Drive man reported at 3 p.m. Sunday it appeared someone dumped light gray paint down a drain that went into the lake. The fire department also responded.
– Someone reported at 4:52 p.m. Sunday a small dog in a silver Volvo was in a vehicle parked in the Sparkle Market parking lot and the windows were up and the car was not running. Police checked the lot several times but did not see the vehicle.
– Theresa Guillard, North Lima, reported at 9 p.m. Sunday she was assaulted on Stanton Drive. Police arrested Frank Guillard, 52, of North Lima for domestic violence. At 9:23 p.m. Beaver Township police requested assistance with a call at the Guillard’s home.

– A patrolling officer observed multiple trash cans knocked over in Centennial Park at 1:43 a.m. Sunday. The officer searched the area, but found no one in the park.
– Officers responded to an Ohio Avenue home at 3:49 p.m. Sunday in reference to a domestic dispute and found a verbal argument between a husband and wife regarding family issues.
– Police responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 4:38 p.m. Sunday where an employee reported multiple complaints regarding a person walking around the parking lot. Officers spoke with the man in question and advised him he was no longer welcome at the business.
– An officer responded to a Newgarden Avenue home at 6:12 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported someone had struck her in the face with a fist and she wanted to press charges. The resident and a witness were given voluntary statement forms that will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
– An officer responded to the area of East Pershing Street and Fair Avenue at 7:57 p.m. Sunday in reference to an obstruction in the roadway, but found a large limb in a yard, not in the roadway.
– An officer responded to a North Ellsworth Avenue home at 9:09 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported someone had been posting her home address on a Facebook page. She was advised to report the incident to Facebook and the page moderator. She was also advised that no crime took place, but the incident would be documented.
– An officer responded with the fire department and an ambulance to a South Lundy Avenue home at 9:21 p.m. Sunday. Upon the officer’s arrival, medical personnel said the person was fine and would not need to be transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
– Carlos J. Mejia, 33, East Palestine, turned himself in on a warrant at 10:59 p.m. Sunday.
SALEM TWP.
– Constable Dan Valentine received a call from a resident in the 2800 block of Depot Road at 9:31 a.m. Monday advising that they received a call stating they owed federal taxes and if they were not paid they would be put in jail. The caller advised the call appeared to be a scam.

– Police responded at 1:40 p.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street for a domestic dispute. A woman reported having difficulty with her juvenile son and his behavioral issues. The juvenile had calmed down and nothing more was needed.
– Richard Finch of the 900 block of South Avenue reported at 1:21 p.m. Sunday that between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, somebody attempted to force their way into his garage door. No entry was made.
– A woman reported at 9:59 a.m. Sunday that she went to the 1600 block of East State Street to pick up her daughter’s belongings, but the resident there will not let her get them. The resident said she could get the property but without roaming around the residence. They agreed on an arrangement. On Saturday night, the woman, who resided on Sixth Street, had reported a child custody dispute, saying the father who lives at another location kicked out the kids and they showed up at her house. She said they could stay at her home but she wanted to talk to an officer about visitation rights.
– Jeremy Allen, 25, of 2356 Ansley, Alliance, was charged with obstruction of official business and taken to the Columbiana County jail after an investigation in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:05 a.m. Sunday. An officer on patrol had seen multiple people in the middle of the road who appeared to be arguing. Allen had allegedly provided the officer with a false name and date of birth, initially due to a belief that he had warrants out of Massachusetts.
– A woman from Leetonia reported at 12:54 a.m. Sunday that her debit card, identification card, $200 cash and a gift card were taken from the center console of her vehicle on Saturday while parked at Pizza Hut, 325 W. State St.
– Officers responded and provided assistance to fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance during a medical call at 12:17 a.m. Sunday at the Flying Pig on North Ellsworth Avenue.
– Police responded at 10:40 p.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Aetna St. along with fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance for a juvenile who said she tripped and fell down the stairs, sustaining unknown injuries. The juvenile made contact with a parent who arrived shortly after emergency personnel. The parent signed a refusal to transport and took the juvenile to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A juvenile in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 8:42 p.m. Saturday that her ex-boyfriend was there and she did not want him there. He left before officers arrived. Police made contact with the ex-boyfriend and a parent at his residence and he said he would not go back to the Aetna Street residence.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at Walmart with juveniles riding in the rear of a pickup at 10:34 p.m. Saturday. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the occupants, telling the driver about the complaint and having the juveniles move to the front of the vehicle.
– An officer on patrol at 8:15 p.m. Saturday assisted a motorist at East State Street and Ohio Avenue with a medical issue and made sure they made it safely to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Jarred Knepper, 33, of 13233 Benton Road, was cited for driving under suspension and taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear after a traffic stop at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Benton Road. He was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.
– Daela Austrino, 32, of 493 Somer St., was charged with theft after police were called at 6:03 p.m. Saturday for a shoplifter at Walmart. An asset protection employee reported seeing a female place merchandise into her purse without paying for the items. The value of the items was $32.91.
– An officer was flagged down at 5:47 p.m. Saturday on Continental Drive by a motorist who reported seeing a vehicle with the door open in a drive on Lexington. The officer located the vehicle and made contact at the residence, learning all was fine. The door was left open by accident.
– A man in the 500 block of Columbia Street reported at 5:26 p.m. Saturday that he believed someone entered his residence and opened one of his cupboards when he was not home. He was told his options.
– An officer at 3:30 p.m. Saturday reported losing the microphone box attached to his uniform sometime during the shift.
– A fight was reported at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Continental and Bentley. A male said he and another male had an argument which escalated to physical violence. Neither one of them wanted to pursue anything.
– A woman on Shady Lane reported phone harassment at 2:38 p.m. Saturday with her ex-husband over child custody issues. She was told to contact her attorney since it was a civil matter.
– A man in the 900 block of East Third Street reported phone harassment at 1:33 p.m. Saturday, saying a female keeps calling and yelling at him due to a recent eviction. She was contacted and told to stop calling him.
– Police were asked to do a well-being check on a resident in the 200 block of West 13th Street at 1:22 p.m. Saturday. He said he was fine.
– A resident on Orchard Bend Drive reported at 1:41 p.m. Saturday that someone struck the right rear bumper of his vehicle while it was parked at Walmart on East State Street.
– A woman from Portland, Ore. called at 1:04 p.m. Saturday for a well-being check on a Penn Avenue resident, saying she had not been able to make contact. A neighbor told officers the resident left Friday in her vehicle. The woman called back later to say her mother was fine and had gone to stay with a family member.
– A caller at 12:03 p.m. Saturday reported suspicious activity in the 500 block of Cherry Street where two males were seen taking scrap from an empty lot. Officers spoke to the two males who stopped to pick up scrap they saw while driving around. They were told they needed permission of the owners. Officers made them put the items back.

– Jason Schnabl reported being jumped in the high school parking lot at 1:20 p.m. Saturday by his ex-wife’s current boyfriend, who is from Youngstown. Schnabl just wanted a report on file.
– Harvey Setinsek, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, reported John Schlueter of New Waterford spit on him during a road-rage incident on South Pearl Street at 5:36 p.m. Saturday. Schlueter was charged with disorderly conduct.

-Eric M. Wilson, 39, of Colliers, W.Va., was sitting at a traffic light on North Market Street in his semi-truck at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday when he backed up to allow an approaching semi-truck to make its turn. In doing so, Wilson backed up into the car behind him, which was leased to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and being driven by Charles Snyder Jr.

– Police responded to a medical at 10:54 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue where fire department first responders were on the scene and EMT Ambulance arrived, transporting a person having a medical problem.
– A caller at 10:20 a.m. Saturday reported a domestic in progress in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive where police learned a verbal argument escalated to a pushing match. Both people involved declined pressing charges. The female half was leaving the residence and not returning.
– An officer called at 10:03 a.m. Saturday to South Lincoln Avenue and Southeast Boulevard saw some branches and limbs down on the east side of South Lincoln Avenue and moved the larger pieces. A large branch had broken off a large tree in a yard at the southeast corner. A note was being left for the service department to take care of the rest in the curb lawn.
– Police responded to the 300 block of East Third Street for a domestic dispute reported at 8:49 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with a woman and man and a male friend, learning there was an argument over who stayed out all night and who was home taking care of the man’s son. The son had stayed overnight at his aunt’s residence. They were told to keep it inside instead of outside and to keep their voices down. They were told eventually someone will get arrested and that police can’t keep coming there to watch over their arguing in public. They were also told to talk with the landlord about both of them being on the lease and if one or the other needs to leave.
– A caller at 5:01 a.m. Saturday reported juveniles in the parking lot in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. Officers found three adults in the parking lot and one female juvenile who said she was waiting for her grandmother to pick her up after leaving a nearby event. The grandmother arrived a short time later and the three adults left.
– John Mohr, of West Fifth Street, reported at 3:49 a.m. Saturday that his iPad mini was stolen from his residence two months ago. An investigation is pending.
– Officers were dispatched at 1:42 a.m. Saturday to North Lincoln Avenue to assist Goshen Township Police officers who were entering the city attempting to stop a blue Dodge truck for violations in their jurisdiction. Goshen units were picked up at North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street trying to stop the truck, which was traveling at low speeds. The truck failed to stop for the stop sign at North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street and failed to stop for the red light at Lincoln and State Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle over multiple city streets. The vehicle was eventually stopped on the west side of the Circle of Care building on Pershing Street where the driver fled on foot. Officers were able to catch up and the suspect was taken into custody and turned over to Goshen Township Police. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Charges from the city police department are pending.
– Police were called at 12:04 a.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Hickory Lane to assist the fire department with a residential lockout. The homeowner told the fire department she didn’t want them to pry open the door due to the damage it might cause. She said she would go to her husband’s place of business to get keys.
– A caller at 10:12 p.m. Friday reported people on the playground at First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St., but they were gone when police arrived.
– Tyler Morrison, 18, of 894 E. Fourth St., was charged with criminal trespass and a female juvenile was charged with delinquency and released to a parent after police were called at 8:59 p.m. Friday for several people on the roof top of a local business. The report said they had climbed over a stair railing and jumped a wall to gain access to the roof. One of the people said he had a foot injury and was evaluated by fire department first responders but declined transport to the hospital.
– A well-being check was requested at 8:57 p.m. Friday for a resident in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue. Police made contact with the man who said he had some health problems and had not been out of the house for a while. The caller was contacted and told he was OK.
– An intoxicated person was reported at 8:47 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of East Third Street. Officers found the person in the 1200 block and provided a courtesy transport to his residence.
– An officer on patrol on East Pershing Street at 7:40 p.m. Friday was flagged down for a hit/skip accident. Karl Schrom of Highland Avenue reported an unknown vehicle hit the rear of his truck, smashing the tail light, flattening a tire and causing a big dent on the rear driver side.
– A caller at 6:43 p.m. Friday reported a fight between four or five people in the 400 block of Aetna Street. No one was there.
– An anonymous person reported a possible scam at 4:37 p.m. Friday and was advised of options for dealing with the situation.
– Police spoke with Rose Avenue resident Lawrence Zagotti at 4:04 p.m. Friday regarding damage to his vehicle in the 200 block. He was unaware of the cause but wanted a report on file.
– A caller at 1:08 p.m. Friday claimed a city worker was parked wrong side to the street on Highland Avenue at East Third Street with cones out. Police found a brown truck on the no parking side with a cone in front and a cone at the rear of the trailer hitched to the truck. Workers were working on a residence and were told about the complaint and asked to move to the other side. They said they had just unloaded some material. No city truck or workers were seen in the area.
– A reckless operator was reported at 11:04 a.m. Friday on North Lincoln Avenue, but was not found.
– A Salem Parks employee reported finding a wallet in a restroom in the park at Waterworth Memorial Park at 8:02 a.m. Friday. The owner was contacted and had a family member pick it up.
– A man came to the police station at 7:18 a.m. Friday to report being assaulted at his residence in the 600 block of Cedar Street and had obvious injury to his face. He said his girlfriend’s 16-year-old son punched him in the face twice after he threw cold water on him to wake him up for school. Officers made contact with the juvenile and he admitted punching him twice and had swelling on his right hand. He was taken into custody for domestic violence/delinquency and taken to the Tobin Center.
– Fire department personnel at 7 a.m. Friday reported seeing a male juvenile going into the road and almost getting struck on East Third Street between North Ellsworth Avenue and North Broadway. He was wearing an orange shirt. The juvenile was located on East Sixth Street and was told to stay out of the road.
– An attempted burglary was reported in the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 6:24 a.m. Friday where a woman said someone attempted to get into her residence by unlocking the door, but she was able to latch it before they could gain access. She didn’t see anybody, but believed a male was driving a vehicle through a field. Officers planned to check the parking lot.
– An alarm was reported at 6:18 a.m. Friday on Pennsylvania Avenue, with the building found secure.
– Criminal mischief was reported at 1:08 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of East Sixth Street where officers noticed profanity written on a windshield and driver side window.

-A mother reported Friday her daughter was being harassed by another girl at the middle school.
-Police were contacted Friday about a landlord-tenant dispute on state Route 14 involving Melvin Thomas, but the parties were told this was a civil matter.
-Shelly Logan reported Friday her tenant on South Bayshore Drive, Amanda Malone, called her say the man who had been kicked off the property the day before was threatening to break in and burn the house down.
-Michael Heckert, 28, of Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension and with an expired license plate following a traffic stop on West Salem Street at 6:50 p.m. Friday.
-A woman who lives at 28 S. Vine St. reported Thursday getting one of those scam calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS and threatening to take her to court if she did not do as she was told. Police advised her on the proper action to take.
– Kaleb E. Simpson of New Waterford was cited for OVI after someone called at 11:16 a.m. Thursday to say there was someone who appeared drunk had just walked into the McDonald’s restaurant and he was staggering and smoking cigarette butts from the ground. Simpson was later arrested following a traffic stop on state Route 14.
-A caller reported at 8:19 a.m. Thursday someone on West Salem Street continued to burn trash after repeated requests they quit doing so. Police arrived and told the property owner to extinguish the fire.
-A caller reported at 9:46 a.m. Thursday the neighbors leave their dog outside and then it barks the entire time. Police arrived but did to see any violations but spoke to the dog owner.
-Someone from Columbiana Pump reported Thursday that 20 decorative tree gates were stolen overnight.

– An officer responded to Buckeye Elementary School at 4:04 p.m. Thursday in reference to a student who had gotten on the wrong bus. The problem was resolved before the officer arrived and the child was en route back to the school.
– An officer responded to a 700 block East Fifth Street home at 4:52 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported damage to her swimming pool earlier that day.
– Police responded to a Woodland Avenue home at 5:21 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported someone had broken the tail lights on two vehicles.
– A complainant reported on station at 6:04 p.m. Thursday someone he knows had been following him through town.
– Officers responded to an 1100 East State Street business at 9:09 p.m. Thursday where a customer had become irate after a soda machine did not work. The customer was told not to return to the business.
– Zachary M. Lake, 20, 995 Newgarden Ave., Salem, was arrested at his home on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 11:47 a.m. Friday.
Lisbon
– Police checked out the area of South Lincoln and Maple Street for a suspicious person reportedly being loud and out of control at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday. No one was located.
-A fight was reported at the Hornsby House at 12:01 a.m. Thursday between Todd Kirtley and Jay Farrow. Kirtley was charged with assault and taken to the county jail.

– Roger Mullet, 28, of 279 W. Fourth St., was charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called for a domestic in progress at 10:10 a.m. Thursday at the West Fourth Street property. Officers found that a physical altercation occurred between the male resident and his girlfriend after an argument about their children. The report said he struck her on the left side of her face, resulting in a red swollen lump on her cheek bone area. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance were called to the scene. A witness reported seeing the male strike the female.
– Several residents reported their vehicles were entered, with Peggy Nedzelski of the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reporting at 8:53 a.m. Thursday that four vehicles parked at the residence were entered and change removed. A neighbor reported someone entered her and her mother’s vehicles. The only item missing was a ukulele. Tara Buss, of the 1100 block of East Ninth Street, reported Thursday morning that $5 was stolen from her white GMC SUV and her daughter thought maybe someone entered the home when everyone left for the day. The residence was secure and police checked the inside of the house. Clyde Wolfgang, of North Lincoln Avenue, reported Thursday morning that someone entered his vehicle in the 800 block of North Union Avenue and took $20 worth of change from the center console. Paul Wagner, of West Perry Street, reported Thursday morning that someone entered his silver Chevy truck in the 300 block of West Ninth Street and stole a bag of change and his wallet containing identification cards and money. Heather Holenchick, of the 200 block of Highland Avenue reported Wednesday night that someone stole the GPS out of her vehicle. Nathaniel Clark reported Wednesday morning that someone entered his vehicle and took a wallet and a bottle of medication.
– Police responded to an area of East State Street near St. Paul School at 11:54 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an intoxicated male and a female. They were located and given a courtesy ride a few blocks away.
– Police were called at 11:46 p.m. Wednesday to the Salem Public Library parking lot, 821 E. State St., for a possible drug overdose. Officers made contact with a person who said he took pills he shouldn’t have. Fire department first responders and KLG both responded and he was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A wallet was found at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday at a local laundromat and placed in the police lost and found. The owner was identified but officers were unable to find a working phone number.
– A man on Fairview Court reported at 9:56 p.m. Wednesday that he and his wife have been receiving texts from an unknown person and the texts were suggestive in nature. Contact was made with the person who was told to stop or face charges. The person agreed to stop.
– Possible menacing was reported at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Fair Avenue. An officer learned it was a civil dispute and was able to resolve the matter.
– A suspicious object was reported at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer checked the item but found nothing of interest.
– Police were called at 8:29 p.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue to check a residence that the caller thought was supposed to be vacant but reported seeing somebody inside. The exterior was found locked, but there was a running fan in the window and some lights on. Nobody answered the doors. Officers spoke with a neighbor who said someone moved in several weeks ago. Officers were subsequently contacted by the person who is currently living there and he said he was in the process of purchasing the residence from the current owner.
– A shattered glass door was reported at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St., where officers located the damage which appeared recent and saw the entire pane of glass shattered from top to bottom. A keyholder reported leaving the building at 5 p.m. and the door was fine then. Additional officers responded and the interior of the building was checked. It did not appear that anyone made entry or disturbed anything inside. The keyholder swept up the glass and was making arrangements to secure the door.
– A possible drug overdose was reported at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Ohio Avenue where a female juvenile allegedly took a large amount of pills. She was conscious and evaluated by fire department first responders and EMT, then taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Penn Avenue, but left before police arrived.
– The chef at Boneshakers restaurant, 500 E. Pershing St., reported at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday that on Aug. 20, three males left without paying their bill. One of the males returned to pay his tab, but the other two did not. The theft is under investigation.
– Adam Lodge, 24, of 811 S. Lundy Ave., was taken into custody at his home at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday on a felony warrant for receiving stolen property. He was turned over to a deputy and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– A woman from a pediatric health care center at 1076 E. State St. reported at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday that she arrived for work at 6 a.m. and pulled up in front and saw a white pickup parked at the east side of the building backed up. She saw two young males on the roof area throw bags into the back of the truck, then they saw her and got into the vehicle and drove off. Nothing appeared damaged or entered. The rear of the building was checked and a window ledge at the top was bent back a little and the parking cement block was pushed back towards the building.
– Police responded at 8:37 a.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue and spoke with an alleged victim who said a newspaper delivery person clipped his arm with his vehicle after the victim told him to slow down. The victim advised the incident escalated to physical contact after the delivery man exited his vehicle. The victim said he was struck in the head a few times and knocked to the ground, but he did not want to pursue the matter and denied medical attention. Officers said contact would be attempted with the newspaper service and delivery man.
Columbiana
– Joseph Glista, Canterbury Court, reported at 12:46 p.m. Wednesday two personal checks were stolen from his checkbook and were later forged and cashed in Austintown.
– Amber Pine, 21, New Springfield, was arrested on a warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop on state Route 14 near East Park Avenue at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday.
– A woman reported at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday someone was speeding on a yellow motorcycle on state Route 14.
– A man reported at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday there was a suspicious man in the area of Heck Road near Universal Percussion. Police checked but found no one there.
– A man reported at 5:54 a.m. Wednesday items were taken from Col-Pump during the night.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– Police were called at 6:23 p.m. Wednesday for an unwanted man on a property in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue. An officer stood by while the male removed his belongings.
– Roger Higgins Jr., 33, whose last known address was state Route 9, Kensington, was taken into custody at Fresh Mark at 8:54 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant out of the Alliance Police Department for failure to appear for jail on an original charge of theft. He was turned over to Alliance Police.

– Police were called to the Hornsby House at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday to stand by while an ambulance transported a resident to a local hospital.
– Lori Crowe reported somebody was looking in CARTS vehicles parked in the lot on Jackson Street at 3 a.m. Tuesday, but police did not find anyone lurking about.
– Joseph Castelucci, South Lincoln Avenue, called at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday because he wanted someone removed from the residence. Police arrived and told the woman there she needed to leave, which she did.
– Thomas F. Ambrose, East Chestnut Street, reported in July being the victim of identity theft, with someone using his name, address, birthday and Social Security number to open a credit card through Chase Visa Amazon.com. He also did a credit check to determine if any other cards were opened in his name, which did not happen.
– Tracy Meek reported she was driving through Elkton about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19 when someone in a dark colored Ford F-150 started following her closely to the point where she thought he was going to make contact. The man driving the pickup truck also repeatedly honked his horn and yelled at her during every traffic light after she arrived in town. Meek pulled over at Brian’s Barbershop and he continued to harass her, which is when she called police. The two men in the truck were described as being in their 20s or early 30s and the side of the truck had a business name she not catch in its entirety but it had something to do with trees. Police searched the area but did not find a truck matching the description.
– Chad Brewer, West Lincoln Way, reported Monday his apartment was broken into and items were stolen. Brewer said he may know who was responsible, and police questioned the woman, but she denied any involvement.
– Police were called to Smith Oil at 7:17 a.m. Monday after a banned customer, David Todd, showed up. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived but Todd was later located on South Park Avenue and warned the next time he would be charged.
– Rodney Harsh of Paul’s Taxi of Salem reported at 2:49 a.m. Tuesday that Sherrie Moore, 52, North Market Street, refused to pay her fare. After being unable to contact Moore, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
– Hannah M. Eshenbaugh, 16, Grandview Street, was driving on West Spruce Street when she went off the road at 8 a.m. Wednesday, striking a pole.
– Delmer R. Knauff, 52, West Salem Street, Salem, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of a vehicle operated by Donzella G. Domenico, 53, of Wheeling, W.Va., on East Lincoln Way at Jackson Street at 3:23 p.m. Aug. 19.

SALEM
– Police responded to Dollar General, 2350 E. State St., for an alarm activation at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday. The exterior was found secure and a keyholder arrived. The interior was checked and found in order. A helium balloon was found floating in the back stock room and is believed to have set off the alarm.
– A caller at 9:13 p.m. Wednesday reported possible shots fired in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where residents heard a loud explosion and observed what appeared to be smoke drifting in the air near a motion light. Officers found several small pieces of watermelon which were fresh, then found the main part of the watermelon in a north-south alley where it was evident someone ignited or detonated an explosive inside a watermelon. It was evident by the moisture and because the remains of the watermelon originated outward from the point of detonation. Two males dressed in black were seen walking in the alley prior to the incident. There did not appear to be any damage from the explosion.
– Loud persons were reported in the 1100 block of East State Street at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday. Two people said they were shouting at one another but would lower their voices to avoid any further disturbance.
– A woman on Edgewood Drive talked to police at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday with several questions concerning two messages she received from an unknown person. No threats were made and she will contact police if she receives more.
– Police responded at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge for a report of theft. A woman said her stepdad took money, her medication and her phone out of her purse. While officers were speaking with her, he showed up at the residence. He said he didn’t take anything and gave verbal consent for officers to search his vehicle and also willingly emptied his pockets. He did not have any of the items on him or in his vehicle. The incident is under investigation. Police had been called at 5:44 p.m. Tuesday for a verbal dispute in the 800 block of Homewood Avenue and saw a male and female walking down the road. The female said she had a fight with her stepdad who left in her vehicle and had stolen several items. The male was her boyfriend who was trying to calm her down. She filed the separate theft report regarding the items.
– A vehicle owned by Betty Jessop of Columbiana was struck from behind during a hit/skip in the parking lot at Sally Beauty Supply, 2955 E. State St., at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday. A vehicle backing up struck the rear of her parked vehicle.
– A woman from Southeast Boulevard reported at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday that she received a bill from a tow company out of New York City saying her vehicle was towed from an accident. She said she’s never been to New York City and she only has one vehicle that she’s currently driving. An officer told her to go to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and have them take her name off the vehicle registration that was not hers. She was also told to check with her bank and social security to see if any other information had been stolen. The officer followed up with New York City police about the incident and they advised their detectives were looking into it.
– Police were called at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of East Third Street for a verbal dispute over personal matters. The female left for the day.
LEETONIA
– Justin J. Schneider, 25, Canterbury Hollow, Ky., has been charged with fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine following the test results of evidence recovered during an incident on June 28.
– Richard E. Koffman, 22, Leetonia, has been charged with possession of heroin following the test results of evidence recovered during an incident on July 1.
– Officers searched the area of Washington Street and state Route 344 at 10:34 a.m. Aug. 16 in reference to a suspicious person, but were unable to find anyone matching the description.
– Tasha McCluskey, Leetonia, was charged with driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Columbia and Nold streets at 10:34 p.m. Aug. 19. A search of the vehicle revealed various drug and drug paraphernalia which were forwarded for testing, with additional charges pending the results. Children services was contacted due to the presence of three children in the vehicle at the time of the stop. A passenger in the vehicle, Andrew Wright, 29, Rogers, was charged with obstructing official business and arrested on an active warrant out of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office.
– Officers responded to a possible domestic disturbance near Wick Park on Sunday.
– Officers responded to a report of breaking and entering at a village owned building on East High Street at 2:46 p.m. Monday.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Christopher D. Conrad, 22, Damascus, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana; and Jamon McKinley Winphrie, 18, Youngstown, possession of drugs-marijuana after a patrolling officer observed a blacked out vehicle in the Damascus Elementary School parking lot at 2:57 a.m. Aug. 16.
– John Taylor, 64, 12205 Goshen Road 54, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated, failure to control and menacing after officers responded to the area of his home at 9:54 p.m. Aug. 18 in reference to a possible drunk driver and found that he had struck a house and another vehicle while they were en route. Due to Taylor’s high level of intoxication, Damascus first responders arrived to evaluate him, at which time he attempted to strike an officer. Taylor was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital for further evaluation, then to the Mahoning County jail.
Columbiana
– A Columbiana Dodge employee reported at 5 p.m. Tuesday there was minor vandalism done to a vehicle in the lot.
Lisbon
– A vehicle belonging to the county mental health center and driven by Jerry Robinson of East Liverpool reportedly struck the bumper of a car driven by Gwen Swiger of Salem in the Apple Grove apartments at noon Tuesday, pulling the bumper nearly off.
-A vehicle being driven by Pamela M. Bricker, 39, state Route 45, Leetonia, was stopped in traffic on East Lincoln Way at 7:50 a.m. Monday when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle operated by Dalton R. Madden, 23, Saltwell Road.

– A wire was reported down in a driveway in the 500 block of West Sixth Street at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday. A man said he was backing his motor home out of the drive and clipped the phone wire. The phone company was notified by the fire department.
– An officer on patrol at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday was advised by a motorist of alleged criminal damaging to his vehicle, saying his windshield was damaged by a person on an upstairs deck of apartments at Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street. The officer noted what appeared to be new cracks in the front windshield. The officer went to the alleged location where it happened and spoke to the suspect and others who all denied throwing rocks and gave a different story.
– Police were asked at 11:02 a.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of a person in the 1000 block of East Ninth Street who called the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office making threats. Police spoke to him and learned from his mother that he was not taking his medication. He didn’t remember calling the sheriff’s office or making threats.
– A man on Wisconsin Boulevard reported at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday that he believed he may have lost his wallet at Speedway. He couldn’t find it and that was the last place he had it.
– Police were called to check the well-being of a resident on South Madison Avenue at 10:24 a.m. Tuesday. The man said he was fine, but a little ill and said he would call his employer.
– A hanging wire was reported at 6:47 a.m. Tuesday on Franklin Avenue and Southeast Boulevard. The fire department was called to the scene.
– Debris was reported at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday on Jefferson Avenue where someone removed trash and limbs from a curb lawn and placed them in the street. The items were removed from the street.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West State Street where a caller said a black car with no license plates had already left south on Newgarden. The vehicle was not located.
– Ronald Handy Jr., 43, whose address was listed as 423 W. Pershing St., was cited for driving under suspension and a turn signal violation after an officer on patrol at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday found a vehicle with a registration violation. The vehicle attempted to flee before the officer activated the overhead lights and siren, with the vehicle stopping in the 100 block of West Third Street. The driver was under several suspensions. K-9 Simon was deployed and confirmed the presence of a narcotic odor. The driver was cited and released, with additional charges pending.
– An officer at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday saw a suspicious vehicle parked at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave., after business hours. Contact was made with both occupants who said they were playing Pokemon Go. They were told to leave.
– Criminal mischief was reported at 12:19 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Fairview where officers found unknown people had placed fireworks in a trash can and knocked several others over. Nobody was found.
– A suspicious odor was reported coming from an apartment in the 100 block of North Union Avenue at 8:46 p.m. Monday. An anonymous caller said neighbors were smoking marijuana. Officers made contact with them and told them about the complaint.
– A dog was reported loose at 8:17 p.m. Monday at South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin, but was not found.
– A caller at 8 p.m. Monday reported several juveniles playing in the duck pond catching turtles at Waterworth Memorial Park. An officer told them to stay out of the pond. A parent arrived on scene and was upset with her child because she was told not to leave the yard. The juveniles left the park.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of East State Street at 7:10 p.m. Monday for a reckless operator. A driver was allowing others to ride on the outside of her vehicle. She was told not to do that.
– A wallet was turned over to police at 5:31 p.m. Monday and placed in lost and found.
– Police were called at 3:50 p.m. Monday to respond to the 400 block of West Fourth Street, along with fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance, for a male possibly needing medical attention. He was having a medical issue and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A suspicious woman was reported at 1:06 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Oak Street where officers found the female in a wooded area behind a residence. She was ok and was just sitting in the woods smoking. Officers didn’t find anything suspicious and she was sent on her way.
– A woman at 11:24 a.m. Monday reported her purse and her husband’s wallet were taken from their vehicle while they were inside Walmart on East State Street.
– A telephone wire was reported down at 10:28 a.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Southeast Boulevard. The downed line was removed and the phone company advised.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– A resident in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue reported at 5:12 p.m. Monday that a semi truck took out a telephone line connected to his residence from the roadway while traveling northbound. He was told to contact the phone company to have the line replaced.
– Police responded to the 1400 block of U.S. Route 62 for a two-vehicle accident at 4:42 p.m. Monday. William Lee Arnold, 51, whose last known address was Alliance, was cited for assured clear distance after his westbound vehicle struck the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Chasity Kellogg, 20, of Salem, who was stopped in traffic. Kellogg and her passenger, 22-year-old Brittany Malone were both transported by Green Township EMS to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
– Police responded at 3:35 p.m. Monday to the 400 block of Benton Road where a 4-year-old juvenile obtained the keys to a black Dodge Stratus and placed the vehicle into reverse. The vehicle rolled backwards into the lawn of a neighboring trailer, causing damage to a flower garden and coming inches from striking the trailer itself. A copy of the report will be sent to Children Services for further investigation.
– Amy Cefalo, 25, of Cortland, was cited for failure to yield after she failed to see the traffic signal on the four-lane U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 bypass change from green to red and her eastbound vehicle struck a northbound vehicle driven by Dennis Erdel, 50, of Salem, on North Ellsworth Avenue, at 12:08 p.m. Monday.
– Police, along with KLG Ambulance and township fire department first responders, arrived at a residence in the 1200 block of Somerset Drive after receiving a call at 10:38 a.m. Monday from Salem Area Visiting Nurses regarding an alarm. The SVNA had received the alarm from the residence and was unable to make contact with the homeowner. The resident was found to have a low blood sugar reading and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG for evaluation.
Columbiana
– Kurt Whitman, Lisbon, was driving for Baker Towing at 4 p.m. Monday on state Route 164 when he was rear-ended in the PNC parking lot by Patrick Mangee, Youngstown. No citations were issued.
– Police left a message with a Parkview Drive resident at 6 p.m. Monday that car needed to be moved from the street.
– Mary Miller, East Park Avenue, reported at 7 p.m. Monday someone attempted to her home through the back door sometime within the last few days.
– Brandon White, 38, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension during a traffic stop on state Route 46 at 8:48 p.m. Monday. He was also arrested on an active warrant through the Canfield Police Department.
– Betty Lucas, North Main Street, reported at 9:26 p.m. Monday someone was trespassing in her back yard. Police checked but found no one there.
Lisbon
-A caller reported seeing a woman steal a gas can from the front porch of Martha Oliver, West Washington Street, while she was mowing the back yard at 12:43 p.m. Monday. Using the information provided by the witness, Chief Mike Abraham went to the suspect’s property on West Washington Street and saw a large wet spot underneath the rear of her vehicle and he could smell the faint odor of gasoline as if someone tried to wash it away. Police knocked on the door and spoke to Sheila Johnson, who retrieved the gas can and admitted to trying to put the gasoline in her car. Johnson, 55, was charged with theft.

PERRY TOWNSHIP
– A woman from West Perry Street reported a case of verbal harassment at 12:14 p.m. Sunday, saying she was in the 1800 block of state Route 9 for a child exchange with her ex-husband when a female with him was yelling and was threatening her.
– Juveniles were reported walking along the road on Pine Lake Road between Goshen Road and state Route 45 at 10:48 p.m. Saturday. They told police they were walking back to a family party down the road.
– Michael T. Smith, 31, of New Cumberland, W.Va., was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with no driver’s license after police conducted a traffic stop at 3:25 a.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of West State Street on a vehicle reported missing.
– A resident in the 1300 block of West State Street reported his vehicle missing at 12:12 a.m. Saturday, saying the alleged suspect was given permission to use the vehicle to take out the garbage at the end of the drive and hadn’t returned in over an hour. The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement data base for officers to be on the lookout for it.
– A resident in the 2000 block of Countryside Drive reported vandalism to his yard at 11:20 p.m. Friday. Police found that a large Ford truck, silver in color, drove through the front yard, causing damage. The resident reported he believed he knew who it was. The incident was under investigation.
– Police were advised at 5:39 p.m. Friday that a male had been riding an electric motorized two-wheeler on the road on Elberon Avenue and causing traffic to stop as he rode in and out of traffic. Officers spoke to two males at one residence and attempted contact at another residence, but no one would answer the door. No one would admit to being the operator.
– A resident from Quaker Lane called police at 5:17 p.m. Friday about a civil matter involving the purchase of a home and property and the closing of the transaction as to who actually owned the property after the other party moved into the residence prior to actual closing and whether the resident could go into the residence. A property on North Union Avenue was listed on the report. The resident was told to contact the realtor or attorney to have their rights and responsibilities explained.
– Police were advised at 5:12 p.m. Firday about a person who was at the Salem Police station who pulled too far beyond the crossing gates at South Lincoln Avenue when they activated and the gate came down on the northbound vehicle operated by Eveline McHugh of New Castle, Pa. The report said the driver panicked and backed up, breaking the northbound gate. There was no damage to the vehicle, but the gate was damaged. Norfolk Southern was notified and had a repairman at the crossing within half an hour.
– A possible road hazard was reported at 3:30 p.m. Friday south of the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and North Lincoln Avenue/state Route 9 where the roadside appeared to be washing out. The Ohio Department of Transportation was made aware of the location to check if repairs were needed.
– Police responded at 11:19 a.m. Friday to the 1300 block of North Union Avenue for an alarm at a residence. Police were met by a neighbor who said they saw their neighbor had fallen and was unable to get up. A keyholder arrived and after entry was made, it was found the male had fainted and became sick after regaining consciousness. KLG responded and evaluated him.
– An East Liverpool resident called police at 11:10 a.m. Friday to check on his son after he was not brought to the designated location and time for a custody exchange. Police responded to Garfield Road and attempted contact, but did not get a response. He was told to contact his legal counsel regarding the civil matter.
– Police responded at 8:53 a.m. Friday to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue after a resident reported locating a wire that he believed was used in an attempt to enter his locked shed. No entry was made and no damage was done to the door. He wanted a report due to a prior theft from the residence.
– Police responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a reported burglary with an assault at 2:30 a.m. Friday. The victim was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. The incident is under investigation.

– A spokesman for Gene’s Drive Thru, 1750 E. State St., called at 11:09 a.m. Monday to report a theft. A female entered the business and placed a bottle of alcohol in her purse, then purchased another bottle. Police had a similar report last week.
– A woman in the 500 block of Continental Drive advised of a possible scam at 7:31 a.m. Monday, saying she was contacted by a male who said he was from American Health Supply and sold her a knee brace. She provided the male with personal information but no credit card information. She was told to contact Medicaid over the issue and to monitor her credit.
– Police were called at 7:08 a.m. Monday to the 300 block of Hawley Avenue for a dispute involving a man and woman outside screaming at each other. Officers attempted several times to make contact at the residence, but the people involved would not answer the door.
– A man on East Fourth Street reported at 3:19 a.m. Monday that his cell phone was stolen from his residence earlier in the evening and he believes he knows who is responsible, but didn’t actually see anyone take it. He was told to contact his cell phone provider.
– An alarm was reported at 2:14 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of East State Street. The exterior of the business was found secure. The keyholder responded and the interior was also checked, with the alarm reset.
– A man in the 300 block of East Third Street was told to keep the noise down after police responded at 11:27 p.m. Sunday for loud music.
– Police responded at 9:56 p.m. Sunday to Centennial Park for an argument between juveniles. Officers spoke with a female juvenile who said she was sitting at a pavilion when another female came up to her and starting making threats to beat her up. She wanted to press charges against the other female because this was not the first time they had an altercation. She was told she would need to fill out a statement with her mother present and the incident would be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
– An anonymous caller at 6:54 p.m. Sunday spoke with an officer about illegal drug activity in the city. Information will be sent to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:29 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West State Street, but was not found.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 6:11 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street where police spoke to both halves of the dispute and learned problems developed recently after someone vandalized an item on one person’s property and the suspect was believed to have come from the other person’s residence in the 800 block as evidenced by surveillance video. The neighbor that had been previously vandalized was allegedly harassing the neighbor in the 800 block, resulting in a family member of that neighbor responding and engaging in a heated argument with the neighbor from the 900 block. Another family member of the neighbor in the 900 block advised of several scratches that appeared on a motorcycle parked outside but they had not witnessed anyone cause this. All parties were told to stop contact and call police if anything more occurs.
– Police and firefighters responded at 5:56 p.m. Sunday to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue for a burning complaint. The owner was burning leaves in his backyard and was advised about the ordinance against burning leaves in the city. The owner put out the fire.
– Police at 5:21 p.m. Sunday checked both East and West Pershing Streets for a report of a light gold SUV with West Virginia plates and an infant being held on the lap of an adult seated on the front passenger seat. The vehicle was not found.
– An animal was reported in a vehicle with the windows cracked in the Walmart parking lot at 4:11 p.m. Sunday, but the vehicle was no longer there when police arrived.
– A Salem area man reported at 3:46 p.m. Sunday that he went to pick up his two daughters in the 500 block of West Sixth Street and was advised by one of them that their stepfather and another male were physically fighting in the residence.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 3:21 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Oak Street where a woman said a female who had been hanging out in the wooded area behind her residence was now walking around in the area. Officers attempted to locate the female but didn’t find anyone fitting the description.
– A possible water line break was reported at 2:17 p.m. Sunday on Merle Road where a large amount of water was flowing down a sidewalk from a yard. The water department was notified.
– A Columbiana man called at 1:55 p.m. Sunday to request officers check the apartments he owns on East Sixth Street to see if people were there without permission. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone from either apartment.
– Jeffrey Winter, 50, of 847 S. Lundy Ave., was taken into custody at 1:20 p.m. Sunday at his residence on a warrant out of Columbiana County for failure to appear. He was processed and turned over to a deputy.
– Police were called to a medical call at 10:26 a.m. Sunday on Vine Avenue, along with fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance. A female had allegedly taken a large amount of cold medicine. She was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
– A woman in the 1100 block of Maple Street reported at 9:53 a.m. Sunday that her roommate had thrown trash at her and inside her room. Officers spoke with the roommate who said she opened the woman’s door and threw trash into the room because the woman will not clean up after herself. Officers told both of them to stay away from each other and not speak if they can’t be civil. No injuries were reported.
– A verbal dispute with neighbors over ongoing issues between them was reported at 3:39 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of West Wilson Street. No signs of violence were observed and both parties were told to stay away from each other.

– A Sitler’s Florist employee reported at 8:41 a.m. Sunday the business was broken into sometime during the night.
– Bob Burkle reported at 3:49 p.m. Sunday a dog bit him and his dog on Quincy Avenue.
– Police warned two boys for trespassing after finding them on Col-Pump property at 6:26 p.m. Sunday.
– A woman reported at 6:53 p.m. Sunday a 10- or 11-year-old girl was crying near the Sandwich Factory. Police spoke with restaurant employees who said the girl was crying when they first came in but they didn’t see any suspicious activity.
– A boy reported at 7:28 p.m. Sunday his camera was stolen in the area of Railroad and Elm streets.
Lisbon
– Police came across an elderly man walking on state Route 154 at 8:11 a.m. Sunday. While waiting for an ambulance, a woman called from East Lincoln Way to say she was his caretaker. The man was transported to a local hospital anyway since the caretaker did not have legal guardianship over him.
– Patricia A. Huff, Darner Road, Lisbon, reported at 12:43 a.m. Sunday being assaulted by her sister’s boyfriend. She declined to press charges and just wanted a report on file.
– Susan Murphy reported her Samsung Galaxy tablet was stolen from her car was parked in the Save A Lot lot about 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
– Police were called to the Cedar Street park at 9:38 p.m. Sunday in regard to people hanging out in the picnic area, but there was no one there when an officer arrived.
– Earl Hershman, North Jefferson Street, reported Friday a house window had been egged.
– Melissa Timmons, North Market Street, reported Aug. 16 getting prank calls from someone making animal-like sounds and other weird noises.
– Police were told a woman was sitting behind the Rite Aid building at 2:21 p.m. Friday. The woman lives at the nearby Hornsby House and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be examined.
– A man who appeared to be drunk was reportedly lying on the side of the road on South Green Street at 9:17 p.m. Friday. Police searched the area but did not find anyone about.
– Police were asked to check on a North Jefferson Street resident at 2 p.m. Friday. Police spoke with both parties and determined everything was fine.
– A caller reported someone on West Lincoln Way just east of Brian’s Barbershop was playing drums loudly at 9:44 p.m. Thursday. Police spoke with the people, who agreed to keep it down.
– A caller reported there was a woman behind the Dollar General and Rite Aid who appeared to have blood on her back at 7:54 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but did not find anyone around.
– Police were called to a state Route 154 residence at 7 p.m. Thursday, where a 13-year-old boy was reportedly punching and kicking holes in the wall. The youth told police he became frustrated with his siblings and lost his temper. He was told if he caused any more problems he would be taken to the county juvenile detention facility.
– Greg McClintock reported his wallet was stolen from his vehicle while he was attending a block party on Saturday evening. His car was parked in a back yard on High Street between 5 and 10 p.m.
– Police responded to a report of a couple yelling on West Lincoln Way at Beaver Street at 11 p.m. Saturday. Police arrived but no one was around.

– Police made a traffic stop at E. Pershing Street and Fair Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Sunday. Jenny L. Isaacs, 518 Fair Avenue, was cited for driving under suspension. The license plates to her vehicle were confiscated.
– At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of W. Wilson Street for a verbal argument between neighbors. Police advised them to stay away from each other.
– Police responded to the 200 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 11:04 p.m. Saturday for a report of intoxicated persons and spoke with them. They were advised of the complaint and police cleared the scene.
– At 10:50 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 300 block of Hawley Avenue for a report of a loud party and located a large fire. Steve R. Miranda, Jr., 12205 Goshen Road, #27, was cited for underage consumption and taken to the county jail.
– At 10:40 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street and Centennial Park for a report of two vehicles driving recklessly through the baseball field and fleeing the area. Police were unable to locate them and some damage to the grass was observed.
– At 9:38 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2400 block of E. State Street where the complainant advised a person possibly took several items without paying for them and fled in a vehicle heading eastbound. Police were unable to locate it and the incident is under investigation.
– Police on patrol in the 100 block of Sharp Avenue at 9:08 p.m. Saturday observed an excessively large cookout fire. The person said they just started it and it did return to a normal size a few minutes later.
– At 9:03 p.m. Saturday, police in the W. Pershing Street and S. Howard Avenue area made a traffic stop for an equipment violation and the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. Police located a substance but it was not enough to test. The driver was issued a written warning for an equipment violation.
– Police responded to the 1200 block of Maple Street at 7:45 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check and found the resident deceased from apparent natural causes. The coroner responded.
– At 5:56 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of E. State Street where the complainant was sitting in the parking lot playing PokemonGo and a suspect came up from behind and punched him in the face and fled. The complainant had injuries to his face and first responders were called and he refused treatment. Police spoke to the suspect who said he had no idea what happened. The report will be sent to the county prosecutor’s office for review.
– At 5:14 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive to check on a juvenile and made contact with his father. The child looked OK. The father said an intoxicated woman attempted to hold his son and he didn’t allow it and she got angry. The complainant was advised to call the police if there are any more problems.
– A resident from the 600 block of E. 5th Street was on station at 4:17 p.m. Saturday advising of a man calling and making threats to harm him. The other person was contacted and advised to cease all contact with the complainant or face telephone harassment charges. He said he didn’t make any threats and understood.
– Police received a menacing by stalking complaint on station at 11:45 a.m. Saturday. The complainant said her ex-boyfriend was harassing her over ending a relationship and she wanted it documented.

Salem reports
– Police responded to a call by the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) at 2:23 a.m. Saturday regarding a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner on Southeast Boulevard toward East State Street with no lights on. It was traveling at a slow rate of speed and ran into several curbs. It turned eastbound on East State Street and stopped in the road in the 2700 block of the street. Police were advised that an ambulance was attempting to stop the vehicle due to the reckless driving. An officer was en route when the vehicle traveled outside the city and was stopped on state Route 14 near Washingtonville by the OIU officer and the ambulance. The highway patrol responded and the person was taken to the Salem Police Department for a breath test and arrested for OVI.
– At 4:26 p.m. Friday, a complainant was on station advising someone made the front door to her residence inoperable and she could not get out. She was advised of the options and police made contact with a family member at the residence who advised the door was broken and the complainant has been using the back door. The family member was advised of the complaint.
– At 4:29 p.m. Friday, a Jennings Avenue resident called police regarding identity theft and someone had gotten her personal information and signed up for a new phone account and debit card. The complainant received several letters in the mail about new accounts and needed a police report to get them canceled.
– Police responded to the 600 block of W. 8th Street at 6:04 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious man. The complainant advised he located a juvenile who said she was frightened after a male motioned for her while in a vehicle. An officer spoke with the juvenile and the other male and found everything was OK.
– At 8:28 p.m. Friday, police in the 1100 block of E. 3rd Street were flagged down for children playing in the 1300 block of the street. Police located them and warned them about the dangers of playing in the street.
– At 6:39 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where the complainant advised his father showed up at the residence demanding a cell phone be returned. The phone was in the possession of the complainant’s son and he said that his father had freely given it to him. Police advised the complainant to give it back to avoid further conflict. The complainant said his son, father and mother criminally trespassed his residence due to them coming to the house when he isn’t home and attempting to take his children. He said this is an ongoing problem with all three and they continue to try and cause problems with his children. The complainant was advised about obtaining a restraining order and advised all three of the criminal trespass complaint and they would be arrested if they returned. Police returned to the residence at 6:55 p.m. and the complainant advised that his mother had his son’s cell phone which is in the complainant’s name and refused to return it. The complainant said this was also ongoing with the court system with his mother. Police advised a report would be made and he could contact his attorney.
– At 9:22 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 100 block of W. 4th Street and issued an illegal burning citation after observing a very large fire. Firefighters responded and advised the fire was not burning clean firewood and was too large and too close to the residence.

-A man reported at noon Friday someone was burning tree limbs in the area of West Park Avenue. Police checked and told the residents to put the fire out.
– A man turned in a bicycle he found on Friend Street near Highland Avenue at 2 p.m. Friday.
– Ben Washburn, Brenda Lane, reported at 3:26 p.m. Friday someone was speeding on a dirt bike up and down Brenda Lane and the area of Friend Street. Police checked and found the dirt bike at a home but it was not in the street.
– Police found the Fairfield Avenue railroad crossing gates were malfunctioning at 3:34 p.m. Friday.
– Julie Landon, 25, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 6:31 p.m. Friday.
– A man reported at 8 p.m. Friday a dog on Pittsburgh Street came after him and some kids riding bicycles. Police spoke with the dog’s owner, Amy Mateer, about the complaint, and Mateer said she would fix the problem.

-A clerk at the Days Inn called at 9:44 a.m. Thursday because there was a man found passed out in a room and refusing to be transported by ambulance to a hospital. Police arrived and convinced the man, Robert Sagenich, to be transported to an area hospital for examination.
-A clerk at Smith Oil reported a motorist drove off without paying for gas at 10 a.m. Thursday. Using the license plate number, police tracked down the vehicle owner, who said her daughter had used a credit card to make the purchase. She was told to check with the credit card company to see if the transaction went through and to also contact Smith Oil.
COLUMBIANA
-A caller reported two cars were racing on East Friend Street and onto East Park Avenue at 7:09 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicles.
-A woman at Harmony Village reported at 10:30 p.m. Thursday her neighbors were working on their cars in the garage and she felt it was too late to be making that much noise. Police checked but were unable to locate any such noise.
-Tracey Spooner reported Thursday a ring had been stolen from her home.
SALEM
– Officers responded to the 1900 block of Oak Street in reference to suspicious activity reported at 3:28 p.m. Friday by a resident, who told officers that she and her daughter found some alcohol bottles, hypodermic needles and morphine in the woods behind their house. She advised a female had been back there two days ago watching her daughters swim. Officers collected the items and they were destroyed. She was told to call police the next time they see someone in that area.
– Police were called at 3:10 p.m. Friday to the 1100 block of Maple Street where two sisters live together and were not getting along, with one saying the other one kicked her in the leg as she walked by. They were advised to stay away from each other the best they can. One said she was packing and moving out and all things at the residence were in her name. She was advised to seek input from the prosecutors about shutting things off if she moves out and said she understood. The one who called police said she was fine with everyone trying to stay away from each other. The mother also resides there. No physical violence was observed.
– A resident in the 800 block of Homewood Avenue reported at 2:23 p.m. Friday that he saw three juveniles coming down a private driveway and one was on a board and fell into the road. Officers told the one girl and two boys to stay off the road and out of other people’s private property. The three reside in the 700 block of Franklin and ranged in age from 10 to 13 years old. They were told to stay out of areas where they’re not supposed to be.
– A wallet was found on the street at Ohio Avenue at 12:09 p.m. Friday. The contents seemed intact and the owner was contacted to pick it up.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:43 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of West 16th Street, but was not found in the area.
– Police responded at 10:34 p.m. Thursday to the 600 block of East Sixth Street along with fire department first responders and EMT for a female having a medical problem. They found an unresponsive female had possibly overdosed. The female was given Narcan and transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. Items recovered at the scene will be sent for testing.
– A suspicious person was reported at 10 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but was not located.
– Police responded at 9:06 p.m. Thursday to Centennial Park for possible drug usage. An officer spoke with some kids who someone said were using illegal narcotics, but the officer observed no odor or any signs of narcotics use.
– A woman at the police station at 8:08 p.m. Thursday reported finding property, which turned out to be medication. No prescription information for the owner was available, so the property was disposed of properly.
– An obstructed roadway was reported at 7:58 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue where officers found unknown persons had knocked over several cones that had been in the road covering holes in the new pavement. Officers reset the cones.
– A dog was reported left in a vehicle in the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:40 p.m. Thursday. The animal in question had food and water inside the vehicle. Three windows were open. The owner was advised of the complaint.
– An alarm was reported at 7:37 p.m. Thursday on Quaker Lane where the homeowner arrived and the residence was checked and found secure. The owner will have the system checked.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 7:35 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue where police learned a mother and juvenile daughter got into a physical altercation outside of the city limits. They were told to file a report with Goshen Township Police since the incident took place in their jurisdiction.
– A clerk at Smith Oil, in the 900 block of East State Street, reported at 7:08 p.m. Thursday that an unknown female in a Lincoln pumped $27.25 in gas in left without paying. The registration was provided to police. Contact was made with the driver and she told police she paid with a credit card. The business will be advised.
– A woman in the 300 block of East Fourth Street reported at 6:45 p.m. Thursday that a television was stolen from her while she was in the process of moving. The theft is under investigation.
– A dispute was reported at 6:34 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of East Sixth Street. A person involved was located in an alley and reported there was a verbal dispute. The parties were told to stay away from each other.
– A fight was reported at 6:22 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue where three males were in an altercation and one had gone to a hospital. The incident was under investigation.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 6:21 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West Fifth Street. A man said his father had been removed from the residence earlier in the day for allegedly causing problems and had returned and wanted to go inside to get his belongings. He did not want him there. The man said they got into a pushing match and he was struck in the leg and had his hand punched. He didn’t want to press charges.
– A suspicious person was reported at Reilly Stadium at 6:10 p.m. Thursday. An officer located the person in question in the 1100 block of East State Street and she said she wanted to harm herself. The officer called first responders and an ambulance and she was taken to the emergency room for an evaluation.
– A possible burglary was reported at 6:04 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East Third Street. A woman came home to find her door open. Police cleared the house both on foot and with the K-9 Simon. The woman was told to report if she finds anything missing.
– A dog was reported at large at 5:42 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of East State Street. An officer found the dog, but it took off. The owner was told if officers find the dog, they’ll attempt to catch it.
– A man on Stewart Road reported at 5:24 p.m. Thursday that he was told something fell out of the bed of his truck while he was driving and the police were called about it. He looked in the area, but found nothing.
– An officer on patrol at 4:01 p.m. Thursday stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue for a traffic violation. K-9 Simon alerted to a narcotic odor and a search of the vehicle located several items of contraband. The driver was issued a written warning for the traffic violation. The driver and passenger were released and charges are pending laboratory results.
– Police at 12:20 p.m. Thursday checked a car in a parking lot with dogs inside. The owner came outside when police arrived and said she was only inside the store 15 minutes and gave them water.
– Police responded to Walnut Street at 9:40 a.m. Thursday to assist EMT Ambulance with a man. Officers were able to gain entry to the residence and assisted the man to the ambulance.

– Michael Smith, 34, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Madison Street at 7:55 p.m. Aug. 12 in which he refused to submit to field sobriety tests for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A search revealed Smith in possession of suspected illegal items that were sent for testing and additional charges are pending.
– Officers discovered two juveniles on a boat they did not own on Madison Street at 1:29 a.m. Monday.
– Dustin R. Morrow, 31, 47206 Calcutta Smith Ferry Road, Calcutta, was charged with fifth-degree felonious receiving stolen property, fictitious plates, false identification and speed following a traffic stop at 5:43 a.m. Tuesday at state Route 344 and State Street.

– Police stood by while the city fire department extinguished a truck fire at the Duke and Duchess parking lot at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday.
– A solicitor’s permit was issued at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday for North Coast Wholesale Foods.
– Paige Macklin, 22, New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 5:36 p.m. Wednesday.

– Police responded to a complaint of solicitors in the 500 block of Bank Street at 1:44 p.m. Thursday. An officer located the persons and found they had no permit. They were told to stop soliciting and get the proper permits through the city or they will be cited.
– Gregg Martin, of Renkenberger Road, Columbiana, was cited for assured clear distance after his eastbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by Linda Crider, of Beloit, causing her stopped vehicle to move and strike the rear of an eastbound vehicle driven by Debra Ketchum of South Union Avenue, who was stopped in traffic in the 1400 block of East State Street at 10:06 a.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
– A man from the 100 block of East Fourth Street reported at 11 p.m. Wednesday that several unwanted people had been at his residence, but had already left. He did not want police coming to the residence, but he wanted the people charged for trespassing although he refused to provide further information to the dispatcher and then hung up. An officer attempted to call the person back for further details but there was no answer at the number that appeared on caller ID. The person called back later and reiterated he did not want to speak to police.
– Police responded to the 1400 block of Buckeye Circle at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday after a resident saw a man under a vehicle parked along the street. He reportedly had a flashlight and upon a nearby resident turning on a porch light and opening the door, the man immediately departed the area westbound. He was wearing a brimmed hat and backpack. Officers checked the vehicle and spoke with its owner. There didn’t appear to be anything wrong with the vehicle at that time. Officers did not find the man in question.
– Donald Huff, 36, of 187 Plymouth Place, was taken into custody at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of East Sixth Street on a warrant for a probation violation.
– Police were asked at 9:31 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of three juveniles in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue. Everything was ok.
– An officer on patrol at 9:19 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Jennings Avenue heard a distraught female yelling out of a motor vehicle. The officer approached the vehicle to find a female crying, saying she was afraid her boyfriend was going to harm her. The officer spoke with the individuals who said they got into an argument about relationship issues. They said there would be no further problems.
– Several juveniles were reported yelling in the 1100 block of East State Street at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday. Nobody was located.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in Centennial Park. An anonymous caller said a male was observed dealing narcotics. Officers checked the park but the male in question was not present.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Fifth Street where a woman believed unknown people had been in her fenced-in back yard, sitting on her porch and furniture and destroying some plants. She said she saw a hooded subject sitting near the fence in the early morning.
– An officer at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday saw evidence of a minor accident in a north-south alley next to a property in the 400 block of West Pershing Street. A westbound vehicle turning south lost control on loose gravel, causing it to fishtail and the front passenger side to hit a chain link fence, resulting in minor damage to the fence. After speaking with an area resident, the officer was able to positively identify the driver, who was no longer there. A resident was told to inform the driver to contact police regarding the accident. A citation was pending, along with other traffic charges if the person fails to contact the officer in a timely manner.
– An officer was requested by Perry Township Police at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday for an open air sniff of a vehicle. The officer deployed K-9 Simon and he did not alert or indicate the presence of narcotics. The incident occurred in the area of Pine Lake Road and Egypt Road.
– Police responded at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday to the duck pond parking lot at Waterworth Memorial Park for a yellow hatchback reportedly observed swerving left of center a short time earlier. Officers located the vehicle and advised the driver of the complaint. The driver displayed no indication of impairment.
– A domestic issue was reported at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard. Officers arrived and found a female who appeared to be having a medical problem. EMT and fire department first responders came to the scene to evaluate the female. She was voluntarily transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. The incident was being investigated as a domestic.
– A caller at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday reported a juvenile throwing rocks and sticks at the ducks at Waterworth Memorial Park on East School Street. An officer spoke with the juvenile and advised him to no longer torment the animals. The juvenile left.
– Police spoke with a resident on West Wilson Street at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday regarding a family member causing problems, with the incident mostly verbal with nothing physical taking place. The man said his brother stops everyday and begins swearing. He doesn’t want him to return. The brother was found in the Speedway parking lot and was still upset, saying it was others who caused the problem, not him. He was told to not go back.
– An assault in progress between neighbors was reported in the 400 block of Continental Drive at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday. Officers found there was no assault but a man was out back and was very loud, using profanities. He calmed down and was warned about any further outbursts. Several residents complained about his continual behavior. They were advised to voice their complaints to the apartment complex.

– An officer on patrol at 6:38 p.m. Wednesday located a vehicle parked at Egypt Road and Pine Lake Road. After a lengthy search, a male and female were found and told not to trespass. They were released with a warning.
– A person was reported repeatedly speeding in the neighborhood in the 1400 block of Johnson Avenue at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday. The caller said the operator came close to striking her on her walk. Police spoke with the alleged operator and told her to slow down or she would be cited if caught in the act.
– An anonymous caller at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday reported a female walking in the road talking to herself in the area of Newgarden Road and state Route 45. She was not found.
– Police responded at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday for a complaint of three males climbing the water tower on Stewart Road. Prior to officers arriving, employees from the water department arrived and chased the males off. They were last seen driving off in a smaller tan vehicle.
– Police were called at 11:49 p.m. Monday to the 1200 block of Countryside Drive for a complaint of excessive water flow in a ditch and on the road. A city water employee was found flushing the fire hydrants in the area.
– A female on Allen Drive reported at 6:36 p.m. Monday that a juvenile was standing in the front of her house with friends and began antagonizing her dog. Police spoke with the juvenile who said he yelled at the dog because it was barking. He and his parents were told to stay away from the female and ignore each other.
– A private property hit/skip was reported at 1:40 p.m. Monday on West State Street where a Salem woman said she came out of her doctor’s office and saw her vehicle had been struck and the other vehicle drove away. A witness provided police with a photo of a black Chevy Malibu leaving the scene with no registration. Police obtained the information and will attempt to make contact.
– A woman in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported Monday that she had sold a car and the check was no good when she took it to the bank. She made several attempts to get her vehicle back or the money but the other parties are unwilling to cooperate. She was told her options.

SALEM
-Police responded at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday to Walmart on East State Street where there were solicitors at the doors of the business seeking donations for Second Chance Ministries. The loss prevention officer said the organization has previously been told not to solicit since they haven’t applied through the company to do so. Three males from Columbus were told to leave and not come back until the proper procedure is followed. None of the organization’s facilities are in northeast Ohio.
– Officers responded at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday to Liberty Street for a motor vehicle accident involving a flagger from a paving company. A vehicle allegedly struck a flagger while the company was paving and the victim requested an ambulance. The victim said the driver of a blue car struck his left leg with the rear of the vehicle. No visible injuries were observed. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded and treated the victim who was later transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. Officers located the driver at a residence and spoke with him about the incident. He said he did not strike the flagger.
– An alarm was reported at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Highland Avenue, but the property was found secure.
– An officer on patrol at 10:13 p.m. Tuesday on South Broadway Avenue at Perry Street located a large tree branch down on the road. The street department was called to remove the branch.
– A parking complaint at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday alleged a trailer parked in the road blocking traffic in the 800 block of East Fourth Street. An officer found that vehicles could pass the trailer and it appeared legally parked.
– A caller at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday reported several people loitering around outside and appearing suspicious on Fair Avenue. Officers checked the area and briefly spoke to two people. Nothing appeared out of order.
– A resident at 8:32 p.m. Tuesday reported an intoxicated female beating on the back door in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue. The person had been a visitor but was no longer welcome. The resident said the suspect female had broken an outdoor ornament on the back door, causing visible damage to part of the door. The suspect female was found in the entry foyer of the same apartment building. The resident didn’t want to press charges for the damaged ornament but was notifying the landlord about damage to the door in case he wanted to pursue it. The female was told by officers that she was no longer welcome and her phone and wallet were returned to her from the resident’s apartment. Someone picked her up a short time later.
– An officer on patrol at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West Pershing Street saw a male inside a fenced enclosure at a closed business. The gate to the fence was wide open. The person told the officer he was looking to see if they had a spare tire he could use. Nothing appeared out of order and he left without incident.
– An officer on patrol in Centennial Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday stopped and talked with several people gathering around a vehicle. K-9 Simon indicated the presence of narcotic odor during an open air sniff. A very small, unmeasurable amount of suspected marijuana shake was located in a vehicle. The officers cleared after a brief question and answer session with several people in the park about the capabilities of the police K-9.
-A woman from Jennings Avenue reported at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday that someone used her debit card number to make fraudulent charges to her bank account. She already notified the bank.
– A Hanoverton woman reported a dispute in the 100 block of East Fifth Street at 2:32 p.m. Tuesday, saying a friend was holding property for her and will not give it back. The friend said the property was in the garage and he lost the key. Both sides made arrangements for when the key is found.
– An anonymous caller reported a dog in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police found the dog in a running vehicle with the air conditioning on. No windows were down. After a few minutes, the vehicle’s remote start shut off the car. An announcement was made in the store and the female driver came out and claimed it had only been a short time she had been in the store. A check with dispatch showed officers had been on the scene 25 minutes. The dog did not appear distressed at any time.
-A woman at 12:14 p.m. Tuesday made police aware of a domestic incident between her daughter and her daughter’s husband over the weekend, saying she’s now afraid for her daughter’s safety. She was advised to contact police next time she’s aware of an incident occurring.
– A spokesman for Kid Zone on East State Street reported a shoplifter at 12:42 p.m. Tuesday. An employee said a female left the rear of the store without paying for clothing. She followed the female into the parking lot where the female gave back the clothing. It was determined the female was a juvenile who was located in a parking lot on Pershing Street and taken into custody for delinquency. She was later released to her mother. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of West Wilson Street where a male said his ex-girlfriend’s stepmother hit him with a baseball bat after an argument ensued. He had arrived home to find her in the driveway picking up his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. The incident is under investigation.
– A verbal dispute was reported between neighbors at 9:04 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Vine Avenue where the downstairs resident said the upstairs resident was pounding on the floor all day so the downstairs resident banged on the ceiling. The upstairs resident said the people downstairs were intoxicated and set off fireworks, causing him anxiety. Officers saw no indication of fireworks and no smell of gun powder. All parties were told to stay away from one another.
– A man on West Wilson Street reported at 8:50 p.m. Monday that two neighborhood juveniles threw rocks at his vehicle causing damage to the hood area. Officers spoke with a relative of the juveniles, ages 7 and 9, who said their mother was on the way home. Officers spoke with the mother upon her return and advised of the situation. The case will be turned over to the juvenile officer.
– No citations were issued after an accident at 7:12 p.m. Monday at North Howard Avenue and West State Street resulted in injuries. The report said a westbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male slowed down in the intersection for a bicycle that crossed the road in front of him. The traffic light turned green for a northbound vehicle driven by Oscar Triplett, 76, of Newgarden Avenue, who then went through the intersection and was struck by the juvenile’s vehicle, which had been halfway through the intersection when the light turned red due to slowing down for the person on the bicycle. A witness said the bicycle pulled out in front of traffic and saw the accident happen. Due to the circumstances, officers were unable to determine who was at fault. The juvenile and a passenger signed waivers to be treated at the scene, but were advised to go to the emergency room to be checked by a doctor. The driver and passenger in the other car were transported to the emergency room by EMT.
– A suspicious person was reported causing a disturbance at a business in the 200 block of West State Street at 6:55 p.m. Monday. The male left before police arrived, but an officer spoke with a family member who said the male had mental problems and appeared slightly intoxicated. The caller said the person flagged down a red Chevy truck and left heading north on Jennings.
– Police were called at 6:43 p.m. Monday to West 16th Street for a person to be removed. A previous tenant was picking up some belongings, but brought several people that the caller did not want on the property. She was advised to gather her things and then left with her family.
– A loud person was reported walking down the street at 6:12 p.m. Monday on East School Street and Eighth Street. Nobody was located.
– A man on East Fifth Street was trying to get his vehicle back from his ex-girlfriend but reported at 3:48 p.m. Monday that she was refusing to give him the keys. Officers contacted her and she said she did not have the keys and has been telling the man he can pick up his vehicle from her residence. She said he continued to send harassing text messages. An officer told the man he could have the vehicle towed and to stop all contact with the ex-girlfriend.
– An audible alarm was reported at 12:49 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Vine Avenue. Officers determined it was a smoke alarm and requested the fire department. The property owner was contacted and assisted with making entry. The fire department discovered the smoke alarm was malfunctioning.
– An unruly juvenile was reported running down the street from a daycare in the 700 block of East Third Street at 11:13 a.m. Monday. Officers located the juvenile and his mother, who took him home. The daycare was advised the mother had the child.
– A woman from Penn Avenue reported at 9:45 a.m. Monday that she believed a known male was following her, along with reporting other issues. The man was getting his medication at a local pharmacy and was not following her, police found.
– Police were called at 9:11 a.m. Monday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a reported theft from the gift shop area.

– A Paul’s Cafe employee reported at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into the restaurant on South Main Street the night before and took money.
LISBON
– Police were called to a North Market Street home at 1:41 p.m. Monday in regard to a man intending on harming himself. The man was on the phone with a counselor when police arrived, and arrangements were made to transport him by ambulance to a local hospital.
– An official from Apple Grove apartments reported at 2 p.m. Monday he was in the middle of making arrangements to have a resident transported to a medical facility for a mental evaluation when he took off running into the county fair campground. The man was found hiding in a wooded area between the campground and Apple Grove and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
– Police responded to Sherman Street in regard to juveniles setting off fireworks at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday. Police spoke to the youths, who were setting off bottle rockets, and their mother, and they were warned about setting off fireworks inside village limits.
– Justin Duffy, Maple Street, reported at 4 a.m. Saturday some people were causing a ruckus and when he confronted them he was shoved into a wall. Police spoke with the neighbors, including Steven Boso, who said they had been having problems all night with Vernon Ballard. According to Boso, when Duffy came outside he mistakenly thought Ballard was responsible for the disturbance, so Ballard shoved him, but the misunderstanding had been worked out and everything was fine. As police were preparing to leave, Boso began yelling and slammed the door loud, so police cited him for disturbing the peace.
– A West High Street resident reported Monday her change purse containing $24 was stolen from her vehicle console. Police later found a change purse and Hawthorne confirmed it belonged to her, but she said the gum and condom inside did not.
– William Henthorne, North Vine Street, reported Monday receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and telling him he was going to be arrested that day. Henthorne was advised this was a scam.
– Josh Lentz, Morton Street, reported Saturday a five-shot speed loader was stolen from his vehicle.
– Joan Cook, East Lincoln Way, reported Monday that Stevie Halverstadt hired someone to remove trees and stumps from the rear of her dance studio on East Washington Street, and the worker, using a back hoe, pulled off siding from Cook’s garage and damaged the wood wall supports. She said her cement slab in front of the garage was also damaged. Cook was told this was a civil matter. Halverstadt said she hired Scott Rudder and let him use her back hoe to remove the trees, and she said the garage was rotten when she lived there 15 years ago.
– Police were asked to accompany John Shuman while he retrieved his personal belongings from a West Lincoln Way residence at 11:19 a.m. Monday. His girlfriend claimed the ATV Shuman was wanting to take was stolen, but police determined it had not been reported as such.
– Amanda Kord, West Lincoln Way, reported Friday her husband’s SUV had been entered and a Carhartt coat and pack of cigarettes were missing.
– Police were called to a disturbance at an apartment house on North Market Street at 2:38 a.m. Friday and police found Scott Rudder there, even though he was not allowed on the property. Rudder said he was allowed to be there as long as he had no contact with the Liberts, and he was told to bring the court order to the police station to be examined.
– Amy Englert, East Lincoln Way, reported there was a bat in her apartment at 2:09 a.m. Sunday. Police helped in catching the bat, which was safely released.
– A Mrs. Minor reported Aug. 4 she had money stolen from her purse while at the Vista Center.
– Police were called to the home of Audria Dean and Charles Weyand, state Route 154, at 3:23 p.m. Aug. 11 about a dispute over a wagon. William Halligan, who is Weyand’s grandfather, was said to be on his way to retrieve a wagon and causing a disturbance. Police watched the video provided and determined Halligan was not acting in a disorderly manner. He was given the wagon back and police left.
– Sally Downard, West Spruce Street, reported her daughter was walking on Spruce Street when she was stung by bees at 11:09 a.m. Friday. Downard said there was a large bee’s nest in the tree across the street and she was concerned for the children since her daughter had already been stung twice. A neighbor said he had spoken with the owner, who intends to take care of the problem.
– The burglary alarm was going off at Carter Lumber at 1:37 a.m. Aug. 6 and a door was found unlocked but there was no sign anyone had been inside.
– Linda Reynolds, East Lincoln Way, reported Friday her Nikon camera was stolen from outside her home after she took some pictures for the garage sale she was having. She laid the camera down and went inside and it was gone upon her return.

– A vehicle owned by Richard Cochran was parked in the lot at Aldi’s, 2495 E. State St., at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday with a passenger inside waiting for the driver, her mother, who was inside shopping when a vehicle driven by a woman pulled up and struck the left rear quarter panel area above the wheel. The other vehicle then backed out and went to the other side and was approached by the driver of the damaged car, who had come out of the store and was advised by her daughter what happened. The other vehicle pulled back out and went over to Marc’s where the driver of the damaged car talked with the woman, then the other vehicle left the scene. An officer spoke with the woman in the other car who denied such action occurred.
– A spokesman for Gene’s Drive Thru, 1750 E. State St., reported at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday that a person had possibly been stealing from the store over the past week. He said a known female at 7 p.m. Monday bought a bottle of vodka but when she was at the counter, he saw another bottle inside the purse she was carrying. He told her he could see it so she put it back. During an inventory, he found eight bottles of the same kind of vodka to be short. An officer advised him that her returning a bottle and paying for the other is one thing, but if he can’t prove anything regarding the other eight, then he should just restrict her from coming in anymore. He said he would probably do that. He was given the report number in case she wants to talk with an officer.
– Joseph Linger, of East Fifth Street, reported at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday that he noticed damage to the left rear of his vehicle. He believed the damage occurred when he was parked at the rear of the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., between 4:45 and 6 p.m. Monday.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 2:57 a.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue where a caller said it sounded as if an unknown person was attempting to gain entry into a secured facility. Officers checked the area but found nothing out of the ordinary and no one around.
– An alarm was reported at 1:28 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Second Street. All outer perimeter doors were checked and appeared secure. A keyholder arrived and the interior was checked, with all fine.
– A caller at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday reported a male had been walking in the middle of the street looking around suspiciously in the area of Homewood Avenue and Trimble. Nobody was found.
– Two children were reported in a vehicle in a lot in the 800 block of West State Street at 2:27 p.m. Monday, jumping around and beeping the horn and being near the steering wheel. The caller was not sure if the vehicle was running. An officer found the vehicle and spoke to the mother, who was in a vehicle next to her own vehicle talking to a family member. There appeared to be no problems.
– A woman on South Howard Avenue spoke with an officer at 10:20 a.m. Monday regarding forgery. She was told to contact the business to inquire about the signature on her copies. The officer felt it was a civil matter.

– The owner of American Auto Body reported at 1 p.m. Monday the company was being harassed and equipment was damaged by an employee who was terminated last week. No arrests were made.
– Robert Macklin, West Friend Street, reported at 5:31 p.m. Monday his ex was at his house and she was not supposed to be there.
– The Highway Patrol reported at 7:42 p.m. Monday there was a reckless driver coming toward the city on state Route 344.
– A woman reported at 11:39 p.m. Monday someone in a red car was speeding from Circle K to Parkview Avenue. Police checked but did not see the vehicle violate any traffic laws.
– A New York man requested at 11:50 p.m. Monday police check on his girlfriend on South Main Street as they had an argument over the phone and it now appeared to be disconnected.

– Constable Dan Valentine received a report at 1:10 p.m. Monday from a resident in the 400 block of Lisbon Canfield Road advising that sometime overnight someone ripped her mailbox from the post and stole it. A check of the area was made and the damaged mailbox was located to the south of Lisbon Canfield Road near Butcher Road and it was returned to the complainant.

– A woman at 6:19 a.m. Monday reported her vehicle stolen sometime after 3 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard. While collecting information, an officer found that her vehicle had been involved in an accident in Perry Township. She was advised her vehicle had been towed and a male was suspected to be driving. She was referred to Perry Township Police for further questions about her vehicle. An officer will follow up with Perry Township Police.
– A water line break was reported at 5:20 a.m. Monday on West Pershing Street and Dodge Drive. The water department was contacted after an officer went to the scene and saw the water line break.
– A spokesman for Walmart on East State Street reported at 1:20 a.m. Monday that a male put a television and other unknown items into a shopping cart and exited the rear of the store. He put the television in a small black sedan and exited the west side of the property in the vehicle. The theft is under investigation.
– Police were called at 12:28 a.m. Monday to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue regarding an assault. A man said his girlfriend and another female began assaulting him. The two females said that did not happen but they did get into an argument. No visible injuries were seen and both parties were told their options. The male said he would stay at a friend’s house for the rest of the night.
– A driver’s license found on the street on East Fourth Street at 11:34 p.m. Sunday was placed in the police lost and found.
– Police were called to the 1100 block of East State Street at 11:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. A man from Cedar Ridge said his roommate was making threats against him about not having rent money for this month. An officer tried but wasn’t able to make contact with the roommate.
– Officers on patrol in the 800 block of West State Street at 11:14 p.m. Sunday were flagged down and told about a vehicle with the radio volume turned up sitting at a business in the 700 block. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who turned the music down.
– Police responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 10:36 p.m. Sunday for a report of unauthorized use and request to speak with an officer. A woman said her adult daughter took the keys to her vehicle and had refused to return them. While speaking with her, her daughter arrived and said she would take care of the problem.
– A set of keys found in the city was turned over to police at 10:12 p.m. Sunday and placed in lost and found.
– An officer was told at 9:51 p.m. Sunday about a report of possible shots fired in the city and spoke with a group of people who said they heard a noise that resembled a gunshot. The officer checked around but found everything quiet.
– Officers were flagged down in the 100 block of East State Street at 9:24 p.m. Sunday regarding a case of road rage. A woman said she had been cut off in traffic by another driver and the two of them exchanged words when they stopped. She was told the dangers of road rage.
– Police conducted a well-being check in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue after a caller at 9:01 p.m. Sunday reported a child crying for an extended time. The child could be heard crying from an open upstairs window when police arrived. Officers made contact with the sitter who said the mother stepped out for a short time and would be back momentarily. She had left her cell phone at the residence accidentally. The sitter brought the child down for officers to observe that he appeared in good health. He was possibly teething and calmed down after the sitter turned on a children’s movie for him. Officers remained until the mother returned and she said the child frequently cries at bed time due to not wanting to go to sleep. She had gone to the store to purchase items for the child. Officers affirmed there was plenty of food and noted no problems.
– Police responded to the area of Goshen Road and Countryside Drive at 6:50 p.m. Sunday after Perry Township police requested assistance with a person who fled earlier from a hit/skip accident and was running in the area. The call initially came in as an officer needed help and was in an active foot pursuit, but was clarified that the person had been seen by area residents and the officer wanted help looking for him. The person was not located.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue to speak with a woman at 6:46 p.m. Sunday. The woman said someone was in her phone talking to her and she wasn’t able to make calls on her home phone. She also said kids were running around her house and leaving belongings on her porch. Officers told her to call the phone company about any problems with her phone. Officers also checked around her residence for any suspicious activity and everything appeared ok.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:43 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West Wilson Street. While enroute, officers saw one of the people involved on South Howard Avenue. He said he had been involved in a verbal dispute with several family members. No physical violence occurred, only yelling. He was told to go home for the evening. Officers continued to Wilson Street and spoke with the man’s brother, who confirmed it was verbal only.
– A hit/skip was reported at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at the Salem Community Center a few days prior to the call. The information was documented.
– Police responded at 5:06 p.m. Sunday to the area of Jennings Avenue and the bypass at the request of Perry Township Police to assist in finding the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene of an accident. The driver was not located.
– A woman in the 800 block of West Pershing Street reported at 4:57 p.m. Sunday that her boyfriend parked his vehicle in a private lot and the owner was going to have it towed. She was concerned that the tow truck driver demanded payment for the tow. She was told if she did not have permission to park in the private lot then the property owner had the right to have the vehicle towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
– A dispute was reported at 4:51 p.m. Sunday on Southeast Boulevard. One of the parties left. The other party was told to call police if the person comes back and causes a problem.
– Officers responded at 4:41 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of West Pershing Street for an intoxicated person who was allegedly bothering other tenants and yelling outside his apartment. The person said he and the person who called had been arguing for several days. He was told to stay inside for the rest of the evening since he had been drinking and to try to keep things civil.

LISBON
– Richie L. Burton, 50, North Green Street, was arrested for violating a protection order and OVI after his estranged wife reported he showed up where she worked in town to ask for money at 8:15 a.m. Saturday. Burton left by the time police arrived but he was seen driving north on North Market Street and pulled into his wife’s place of employment, Lisbon Auto Sales. He smelled of alcohol and had difficulty standing, and told police he had his last drink at 10 p.m. the night before. As for the protection order obtained by his wife, Burton denied knowing any such order was in place.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 1:02 a.m. Sunday by someone who said Floyd Gilmore was there despite being banned from the premises. Police did not find Gilmore around the apartment complex.
– Thomas Folley, North Jefferson Street, reported at 2:17 a.m. his ex-girlfriend Sierra Frantz had been kicking on his door but had since left. While police were talking to Folley, Frantz called his phone and he handed it to the officer. – A caller reported a pedestrian was possibly struck by a motorist who kept traveling north on Market Street at 4:49 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but did not find anyone in the area.
– Someone named Michelle reported people were arguing outside the Circle K at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, but they were gone by the time police arrived.
– A syringe was found by a Smith Oil customer at 6:19 p.m. Thursday.
– Police responded to a 911 hang-up call that came from a North Market Street apartment house at 7:10 p.m. Friday and shouting could be heard in the background. Police arrived and spoke to Corey Libert, who said he and an unidentified woman were having an argument but it never got beyond that. The woman agreed with the assessment, and both were told to quit being loud.
– Police responded to a report of a suspicious man hanging around outside the BP station and asking customers for rides at 10:27 p.m. Friday. The man told police his girlfriend had him kicked out of their vehicle and he was just trying to get a ride home to Canton. Police gave him a ride into town.
COLUMBIANA
– A woman reported at 3 p.m. Saturday a man was soliciting on Southern Terrace. Police found he was getting signatures for an election and was not violating any laws.
– A man reported theft of cell phones from the Firestone Park at 6 p.m. Saturday.
– A man reported at 7:20 p.m. Saturday kids had dragged a 30-foot log down Quincy Avenue. Police told the kids they would need permission from the city to remove wood from the area.
– A woman reported at 10 p.m. Saturday loud noise was coming from a home on North Main Street where a wedding was taking place. Police checked and found the noise was not excessive.
– Kyle Rhodes, age not listed, Columbiana, was arrested on an active warrant through the Leetonia Police Department at 10:50 p.m. Saturday on North Main Street.
– Michael Smith, East Palestine, was stopped for traffic in the Duke and Duchess parking lot at 4:29 p.m. Friday and waiting to enter state Route 14 when Michael Kuhns, Canfield, struck him from behind. No citations were issued due to being in private property.
– Several people reported at 4:29 p.m. Friday there was a dog in a dark blue Jeep Liberty in the Sparkle parking lot. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.
– Mary Zimmerman, Columbiana, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 7:27 p.m. Friday and coming to a stop near Windjammer Drive when Johnny Doss, Columbiana, struck her from behind. Doss was cited for assured clear distance.
– A Taco Bell employee reported at 8:38 p.m. Friday someone in a silver pickup truck that went through the drive-through appeared to be intoxicated. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Marlon Demarco Blue II, 19, Alliance, was cited for driving without a valid license and left of center following a traffic stop on state Route 534 near Calla Road at 2:26 a.m. Saturday in which no one in the vehicle was over the age of 21, making his temporary permit invalid. Officers also searched the vehicle after detecting an odor of marijuana, but found nothing.
– Yaisa El Quintana Laboy, 30, 12012 W. Calla Road, Salem, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after officers responded to her home for a domestic disturbance at 1:19 a.m. Sunday and determined she had struck another resident of the home, Hiram Diaz, during an argument. She also reportedly shattered an aquarium in the home and damaged a lawn mower while attempting to back up a vehicle.

– Daniel L. Shafer, 43, Salem, was cited for fictitious plates following a traffic stop in the 700 block of East State Street at 9:48 a.m. Saturday.
– Police responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 10:06 a.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious person and spoke with a man walking around a building who said he had been in an argument with his girlfriend at her home near the state Route 45 bypass and had left to let her calm down.
– While investigating a report in the 700 block of West State Street at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, an officer discovered a black key magnetic box containing a rolled $20 bill with a white substance inside as well as an empty syringe packet.
– A Continental Drive resident reported at 11:19 a.m. Saturday constant verbal altercations with her live-in boyfriend and requested information about her options of dealing with it. She was provided information about the eviction process and told to contact the department if the arguments escalate.
– Officers responded to Centennial Park at 12:51 p.m. Saturday in reference to two possibly intoxicated men. The men said they were walking home due to an illness.
– A West Pershing Street resident reported at 1:15 p.m. Saturday a person he knows was making threats toward him.
– An officer responded to a Roosevelt Avenue home at 5:11 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported a juvenile neighbor had been driving a small mini bike on the adjacent property and he was concerned it would damage his property. The officer spoke with the juvenile’s mother who said she would speak to him about the issue.
– Officers responded to a Continental Drive home at 9:21 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported a verbal altercation with another man in which he asked the man to leave and he refused, eventually striking the complainant in the face and starting a physical altercation. The other man left prior to officers’ arrival. The resident refused medical treatment and did not wish to press charges.
– Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 2100 block of Pearce Circle at 9:54 p.m. Saturday, but were unable to find anything out of the ordinary.
– Officers responded to a 400 block Arch Street home at 10:21 p.m. Saturday in reference to someone yelling for help from a window. The homeowner said their son was watching a loud movie and was yelled at to turn it down.
– Officers responded to a report of a man on the ground in the area of South Union Avenue and Oak Street at 10:28 p.m. Saturday and found him lying in a ditch suffering from an apparent medical issue. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– Police responded to a report of a suspicious person welling profanities in the area of Rose Avenue and Vine Street at 11:31 p.m. Saturday, but were unable to find anyone.
– Nicholas K. Larson, 20, Salem, was charged with underage consumption after a patrolling officer observed him drinking an alcoholic beverage in a 500 block South Broadway Avenue parking lot at 1:06 a.m. Sunday.
– Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 1:34 a.m. Sunday where a man reported someone had used a bat to break out two windows of his vehicle.
– Police responded to a report of two men and a woman arguing in a 2500 block Lexington Avenue parking lot at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, but upon arrival found they had already left.
– A woman reported on station at 2:42 a.m. Sunday that she had given a man a ride home and he made advances toward her that she rebuffed. She said at that time he became angry and stuck her in the face, then fled the area.
– Officers responded with medical personnel to a report of an unresponsive man in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue at 5:23 a.m. Sunday and stood by until the man was transported to the hospital.
– Officers responded to a report of an infant walking around without a parent in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 9:23 a.m. Sunday. The mother was found following an investigation and the incident was forwarded to children services.
– Officers responded to a child custody dispute in the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Those involved made an agreement pertaining to the child for the remainder of the day and they were advised to seek legal counsel.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– A West State Street resident reported at 6:07 p.m. Friday someone overnight had place a pack of lit firecrackers inside her mailbox. She said although the mailbox was not damaged, some mail had been burnt.
– Constance Freeman, 33, 1360 W. State St., Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear while at her home at 7:35 p.m. Friday.
– An officer was flagged down in front of a Brittany Lane home at 8:02 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute between spouses. The officer spoke with both individuals who said it was only a verbal altercation.
– Desmon Ford, 41, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West State Street at 9:55 p.m. Friday.
– A North Lincoln Avenue resident reported at 12:41 a.m. Saturday an ongoing issue in which people in a vehicle were yelling obscenities at him. He said the vehicle had stopped and five people, none of whom he could identify, got out and approached him, but left when he got to the front door of his home.
– An officer responded to a child custody issue in the 1700 block of Painter Road at 6:33 a.m. Saturday and explained child custody laws to all involved. They were told to stay away from each other and the incident was forwarded to children services for review.
– A customer at an 1800 block South Lincoln Avenue business reported accidentally leaving his wallet on the counter and finding it missing when he returned. Surveillance footage showed another customer take the wallet and leave the store. Charges are pending upon identification of the suspect.
– Police responded to the state Route 14 interchange and U.S. Route 62 at 9:04 p.m. Saturday where a driver had traveled off the roadway and down the embankment at the deadend. The driver said a vehicle in front of him had slammed on the brakes and he swerved to avoid a collision. The driver refused transportation to the hospital.

– An officer responded to a dispute in the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Friday and found a woman who said a man had yelled at her for blocking the sidewalk while he was walking. The man admitted that was why he yelled at her.
– Officers responded to a report of a loud person in the area of Fair Avenue and Oak Street at 4:14 p.m. Friday and spoke with a man who said he had been arguing with his girlfriend via cell phone. He was advised to keep the noise level down.
– Patrolling officers observed a child approximately 8 years old running in the roadway in the area of Roosevelt Drive and East Third Street at 6:26 p.m. Friday. The officers were familiar with the child and his mother, who they saw in a vehicle across the street, and attempted to stop him, noticing he wore no shoes. The mother also attempted to stop the child by driving along side him despite officers telling her multiple times to get out and catch him. Other officers arrived and eventually corralled the child in the 1400 block of East Third Street and returned him to his mother’s vehicle. A copy of the incident was forwarded to children services.
– An officer responded with first responders to a medical emergency in the 500 block of East State Street and stood by until the person was transported from the scene.
– An officer responded to Centennial Park at 7:10 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile kicking over trash cans. The juvenile told the officer it was an accident.
– A West Fourth Street resident reported at 7:33 p.m. Friday her ex-husband had taken their son without permission despite her having full custody. An officer advised her that matter was civil in nature but contacted the father, who agreed to return the son.
– An officer responded to a report of a dog on a roof in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Sixth Street at 7:39 p.m. Friday, but was unable to find any such thing.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Friday where a resident reported someone had entered through the back door and removed a television.
-A 16-year-old Salem male was charged with unruly and delinquent charges after an officer responded to the intersection of West State Street and Dodge Drive at 3:47 a.m. Saturday for a report of a vehicle sitting at the light and found him asleep at the wheel. He was turned over to his mother.

LISBON
-A clerk at Smith Oil reported a motorist drove off without paying for gas at 5:46 p.m. July 29. Police caught up with the vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue, and the driver said she did pay but agreed to go back to resolve the dispute. The clerk called back to say she had been mistaken and the driver had paid.
-Melissa Almy, state Route 154, reported she was at the Cedar Street park for soccer practice Tuesday evening when someone entered her unlocked car and stole her purse.
-Police were called to a Kastner home on Garfield Street at 7:25 a.m. Friday after he caught a 17-year-old boy inside his unlocked vehicle. The boy was charged in juvenile court with theft after he was found with an iPod stolen from a vehicle belonging to Zach Lewton, West High Street, and receiving stolen property for money stolen from an Austintown youth with whom he was riding around town on Thursday night. The boy is originally from Beaver Falls, Pa., but has lived outside of town on Mattix Road for the past two months.
SALEM
– Police responded to the 2800 of East State Street at 10:29 a.m. Friday and made contact with a dog owner after receiving a report and he said he was only in the store for 10 minutes. The dog appeared fine and all four windows were down some. The owner was issued a red warning.
– At 11:02 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 900 block of East State Street and checked for a license plate number on a video surveillance camera of a hit-skip incident. No license plate was visible and the driver was a male.
– At 9:19 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 2500 of Bentley Drive where the complainant advised of receiving a call supposedly from the IRS claiming she owed money and was under investigation. The complainant believed it was a scam and wanted it documented.
– Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge regarding a property dispute at 11:34 a.m. Friday. The resident agreed to let the complainant get some of her property and they made arrangements to get it at a later time.
– At 2:26 a.m. Friday, police responded to the area of South Lundy and Franklin avenues where a woman said she had been assaulted in a bar on South Broadway Avenue by a female known to her. Police observed marks on her neck, arm and nose, however she declined treatment. Police spoke with the suspect on Vine Avenue who also had visible injuries. Photos were taken of both people. After an investigation the report will be sent to the county prosecutor for review.
– At 11:22 p.m. Thursday police responded to the 200 block of Penn Avenue where a vehicle horn was stuck on and dispatch attempted to contact the owner.
– At 11:36 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 200 block of West 5th Street where the complainant advised a vehicle backed from a residence into her vehicle parked on the street and fled the area. Police checked the area but were unable to locate it.
– At 10:09 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue for a juvenile problem where the complainant advised his children ran away after being dropped off by another family member. He declined to enter them as missing and police checked the area but were unable to locate them.
– At 9:39 p.m. Thursday, police responded to Broadway Avenue where a dog was reported loose and three males captured it and it was taken to the humane officer.
– Police responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at the request of the Tuscarawas County Childrens Services for a welfare check and were unable to contact anyone. The agency was advised.
– Police responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue near South Union Avenue at 5:43 p.m. Thursday along with the fire department where lines were down. Police maintained traffic control until Ohio Edison arrived and turned the power off.
– At 5:31 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue to follow up on a traffic accident.
– Police responded to the Ohio Avenue and Pershing Street intersection at 5:26 p.m. Thursday for a malfunctioning traffic signal. Ohio Edison advised it was aware of the problem.
– At 4:38 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 700 block of East School Street at Waterworth Memorial Park where the complainant advised of seeing people fighting in the park and police were never around. She was advised to call police wherever she saw something and she also advised that her boyfriend’s son had been assaulted in the park by juveniles. An officer located the juveniles who said they had been playing a game when another boy threw rocks at them. One juvenile said the boy exchanged words with another. Police spoke with the other boy who said one threw rocks at him. Police advised them to stay away from each other.
– At 4:13 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 900 block of East 3rd Street where the complainant advised that cash was stolen from her purse. The incident is under investigation.

– A Depot Road resident reported a case of phone harassment at 1:32 a.m. Thursday, saying a former friend has been text messaging and calling non-stop for the past few weeks. They were not threatening messages, but she had told the former friend that she was no longer interested in speaking to them. Police attempted to contact the person multiple times, but the voicemail was not set up for messages.
– A possible impaired driver in a blue vehicle was reported in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue near the four-lane, but the vehicle was not found.
– Police were called to the 900 block of Canterbury Lane at 9:11 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a male who allegedly exposed himself to two juveniles. The incident is under investigation.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Benton Road. Upon investigation, it was determined to be verbal only. The female half said she was going to a nearby relative’s residence for awhile to cool off. The report will be forwarded to the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.
– Township police stood by with a Salem unit who was on a traffic stop at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday on West State Street until other Salem officers could clear and assist.

– Police found the railroad gates on Fairfield Avenue malfunctioning at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.
– A woman reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday two women were going door to door asking if people if they knew anyone with hearing problems and no solicitors permits had been issued for them to be doing so.
– Brian Baker, Dunnellon, Fla., was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at 11:31 p.m. Wednesday.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Earl B. Calvin, 69, Canfield, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 9:11 p.m. Aug. 5 in which he was eastbound on Roller Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Lisbon Road, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by Madelyn Gabrielle Harter, 18, Salem. Both drivers were transported by Green Township EMS, Calvin to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and Harter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman, for possible injuries.
– Tyler Michael Fickle, 22, Youngstown, was charged with driving under suspension, fictitious plates and loud exhaust following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 near Knauf Road at 11:13 p.m. Aug. 6.
SALEM
– Randy Waters, of Kennedy Drive, spoke with an officer at 9:31 a.m. Thursday regarding a private property accident which occurred July 29 in the Walmart lot. Another vehicle backed into his parked vehicle. He entered a verbal agreement with the other driver regarding his insurance and decided not to make a police report. Now he said the other insurance company won’t fix his vehicle due to conflicting statements between the two vehicle owners. An officer told him that due to the verbal agreement and no police report being made, the situation is civil. He was told a report would be on file and that he should contact his insurance agency to pursue it.
– An officer at 8:26 a.m. Thursday was flagged down by a female in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Columbia Street who asked for assistance in unlocking the door to the business where she works.
– An officer at 6:29 a.m. Thursday checked on a possible abandoned vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Madison Avenue. The 1991 blue Chrysler was not displaying a valid registration sticker although the plates were valid, and the left rear tire was flat. A female came out of a residence and asked what officers were doing. She was told about the complaint and that the violations needed corrected or the vehicle would be towed away. She said the vehicle was owned by her son and she would tell him to take care of it.
– A Louisville woman reported at 3:47 a.m. Thursday that her elderly father left the Louisville area and may be heading to his former property in Salem. She said he should not be driving and asked officers to attempt to locate him. Officers found him in the 500 block of East State Street and he appeared in good spirits. Arrangements were made for the woman to pick her father up.
– Scott Dean, 26, of 555 Franklin Ave., was served with a warrant for failure to appear on child support and charged with a minor misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge after an officer aware of the warrant saw him walking in the 700 block of East State Street at 3:35 a.m. Thursday. During a search, which was incident to arrest, an officer found a small plastic baggie containing marijuana nit as well as rolling papers, leading to the marijuana citation.
– A possible prowler was reported at 2:53 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Rose Avenue. A resident said an unknown person keeps knocking on her door, but when she opens the door, nobody is there. Nobody was found.
– An officer on patrol at 1:15 a.m. Thursday saw a vehicle parked in Centennial Park after the park closing time of midnight. Contact was made with two people inside the vehicle. Both had just gotten done working and were eating. They were told the park curfew times and to finish eating and leave.
– An item found in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue was brought to the police station at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday and placed in lost and found.
– An officer at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday spoke with a man regarding a hit/skip that occurred on East Pershing Street near the entrance to Centennial Park. He was westbound on Pershing when he was rear-ended by another vehicle that exited the park. The other vehicle fled the area. The incident is under investigation.
– Police were called at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street to check the well-being of a male who was possibly having thoughts of harming himself. The residence appeared vacant.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 10:08 p.m. Wednesday on North Ellsworth Avenue in a blue vehicle. The vehicle was not found.
– Accidental damage was reported at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of East State Street where a woman struck a partially open manhole cover while pulling into a private lot. She was unsure if there was damage to the under side of her vehicle. The manhole cover was replaced.
– A dispute was reported at Super USA gas station on South Lincoln Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday over an unsuccessful effort to pump gas into a container and an attempt to push a truck which ran out of fuel to the pumps. The vehicle owner sat the pump down on the ground and left the pump running with the nozzle closed to try to help push the truck. The business owner came out and asked him to shut off the pump, but the vehicle owner was fearing he would lose the money he paid for the gas. The truck owner had a suspended license and the occupants had consumed alcohol, so a sober licensed driver responded to steer the truck into a nearby lot until a licensed driver can come with a gas gan to fuel it. The business refunded the vehicle owner’s money and a sober driver took the occupants home.
– An officer on patrol on East Pershing Street near Penn Avenue at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday saw several people possibly arguing. The officer made contact and found everything ok, with no argument taking place.
– A woman from the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday that she was walking her dog on East Fourth Street when her dog dragged her across the street to another property where another dog was. She believed she may have been scratched by the other dog when her arm went through the fence. The owners of the other dog said their dog never left the fenced area and was on a chain that prevented the dog from reaching the fence. The officer observed that the woman broke off a piece of fence and believed that likely caused the scratch.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. The caller said first that she was angry with the neighbor over garbage but then said she believed she was threatened. An officer found no threat made and both parties were told to stay away from each other.
– Travis Faulkner, 27, of 585 Columbia St., was charged with driving under suspension and failure to comply after a traffic stop at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday on North Lincoln Avenue. The officer on patrol saw the vehicle with a driver known to have a suspended license and the driver, after seeing the marked police cruiser attempting to stop him, fled for a short distance and pulled into a private drive. The officer gave warnings to the driver that exited the vehicle and the driver complied. K-9 Simon was deployed during the stop and indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor both in the vehicle and on currency recovered at the scene. The driver was charged and taken to the Columbiana County jail. Additional charges may be pending, according to police.
– A resident in the 500 block of Continental Drive reported at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday that someone stole the license plate from her vehicle.
– Police responded to the area of Newgarden Avenue and the railroad crossing at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday for a report of three juveniles on the railroad tracks. Three juveniles were seen walking on the sidewalk on Newgarden near West Wilson Street and acknowledged they just crossed the tracks. They were told the dangers of loitering around the railroad tracks. No one was seen near the crossing.
– Recovered property found on South Lincoln Avenue was turned over at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday. The property owner was contacted and retrieved the property.
– A dog was reported running at large in the 2400 block of East State Street at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. No loose dog was seen when police checked the area.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. A woman said she was told a neighbor had written a threatening letter to her, but she had not actually seen it.
– A woman in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue reported at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday that neighbor kids threw rocks at her new front porch. Officers talked to some kids who denied throwing rocks at the porch but said they had thrown rocks on the sidewalk. A contractor’s sign was also missing, which the kids denied any knowledge of the sign. Officers told the kids, with a parent present, that they needed to stop throwing rocks.

– Police were made aware at 10 p.m. Tuesday of a downed tree blocking the road near the 1800 block of Cider Mill Road. An officer remained until the road department arrived and said the officer was no longer needed.
– An officer was asked at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Sheriff’s Office with a residential alarm on Shining Tree Lane. The residence was found secure.
– A resident on Salem Unity Road spoke with police at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday regarding a civil complaint against a local monument company on West State Street regarding a order placed for a head stone and paid for in advance. She said she made several attempts at contacting the owner but has had no response, even to a certified letter sent to the owner. She was told to contact a lawyer to remedy the problem.
SALEM
– A hit/skip accident was reported at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Oil on East State Street where a parked vehicle owned by Eugene Lockney of Arch Street was damaged by another vehicle, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, which left the scene. The report said Lockney’s vehicle was parked facing west near the front of the building while another vehicle with a witness was parked at the pump area. The suspect vehicle attempted to go through the gap between the two vehicles and struck the left front outside mirror of the Lockney vehicle, then continued through the parking lot and westbound on East State Street without stopping. Lockney was standing there and attempted to stop the other vehicle, which appeared to pick up speed to get out of the lot and leave on purpose, he and a witness said. No injuries were reported.
– Police assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in attempting to serve multiple warrants Wednesday afternoon. No warrants were served due to address changes.
– A Columbiana woman reported at 12:47 p.m. Wednesday that her vehicle was legally parked in the Walmart lot when another vehicle entered the lot and the driver drove down the aisle the wrong way and attempted to make a left turn into a space next to her vehicle, striking it and ripping the bumper cover off. The driver drove to the next row and went into the store. A witness provided the registration and a description of the vehicle which was later located on South Broadway Avenue, along with the driver. Officers were unable to verify the driver’s identity and he could not provide a driver’s license so the vehicle was impounded.
– A caller at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday reported numerous children that run out onto the street in the 500 to 600 block of East Fourth Street and ride bikes across the street without looking. They hide behind a large tree in front of a property and throw rocks at cars when they drive by. Officers didn’t find any children in the area at the time of the response, but passed the information to the afternoon shift to check the area.
– Police responded to the parking lot of Marc’s at 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, but found all quiet. No alarm was found.
– Police were investigating a hit/skip at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue which resulted in a driver and a passenger going to a hospital. A vehicle driven by Paige Seeley, 18, of South Lundy Avenue, was at the red light on Franklin and was going to turn left onto Aetna Street when another vehicle came up and rear-ended her vehicle. The other vehicle backed up and struck her vehicle again, then sped off and left the scene. The other vehicle was described as a faded red sedan. The driver was taken by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center. The mother of a 2-year-old girl in the vehicle took her to the hospital herself.
– A man who was deemed highly intoxicated came to the station at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday to speak with an officer but was told to come back to make a complaint when he’s sober. He was also told if he leaves his residence while intoxicated again, he’ll be arrested for persisting public intoxication. Officers made sure he made it back home safely.
– An asset protection associate at Walmart on East State Street reported at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday that a female placed multiple items in a handbag and left the store without paying. The value of the items was $118.27.
– An open window was reported on a vehicle in a car lot at 7:04 p.m. tuesday in the 200 block of West State Street. The keyholder was enroute after police found a vehicle with a window half down.
– Police responded for an animal complaint at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of East Perry Street where a dog had been outside with no water. An officer found the dog had shelter and appeared to have kicked over the water and food bowl. The officer gave the dog water.
– Police responded at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday to Centennial Park for a well-being check on a male laying down inside his vehicle. The driver side door was open and all windows were down. He said he was just taking a nap and was ok.
– A Lisbon woman reported at 3:56 p.m. Tuesday that she lost her license while in the city and wanted to see if police had it. She was told she’ll be notified if her license is turned in.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday in Centennial Park and identified by name. The vehicle was already gone, but the officer was going to attempt to contact the person about the complaint.
– Barking dogs were reported at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Fifth Street, but no dogs were found.
– An officer was stopped at 9:22 a.m. Tuesday by a parks department employee at Waterworth Memorial Park advising of a red trailer parked in the lot off and on for weeks. The license had a Maryland plate. The employee only needed it moved from blocking workers from mowing grass since the trailer was sticking out over some of the yard area. If officers locate the owner, the vehicle will be moved.
– An officer at 8:47 a.m. Tuesday assisted Enterprise with recovering one of its rental cars on South Howard Avenue.
– An officer on patrol at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday was stopped by a female who said her vehicle was covered with a large amount of dirt from the paving company that was cleaning the road preparing it to be paved. The vehicle was parked in a lot next to North Broadway Avenue in the 200 block of East State Street near Sugartree Alley. She had been told to check the vehicle because a male wearing an orange shirt was outside with a leaf-type blower blowing dirt and rocks all over the area for the street sweeper coming by.
– A man at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday pointed out a small plastic type of paper with skulls on it in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue. An officer will have it checked out by the Drug Task Force if needed.
LISBON
– Christopher C. Boone, Signal Road, Columbiana, was stopped in traffic on state Route 154 by Carter Lumber at 10 a.m. Monday when he began backing up to give a semi-trailer room to turn, and he struck a car behind him, which was driven by Key-Marra Armour of Youngstown. Boone was cited for improper backing.
– Police spoke to Lisa Odea at 3 p.m. Aug. 4 after receiving a complaint she was yelling at neighbors and vehicles in the vicinity of South Lincoln Avenue and West Washington Streets. Odea said there was a small boy she knows by the road and she was afraid he was going to be struck by a vehicle, which is why she was yelling. Odea was told to call police the next time.
– Police were called to a domestic dispute on North Jefferson Street at 10 p.m. Monday. The dispute was between a father and son, and neither wanted anything done. The father made arrangements to spend the night elsewhere. The son had a cut on his head, but he said it was from something else.
– Rebecca Hill, Apple Grove apartments, reported at 8:47 a.m. Tuesday someone took her food stamp card and used it. She found a receipt in her purse that she did not put there that stated the charge was declined due to insufficient funds.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday his son’s car was keyed during the night on Old North Avenue.
– A woman reported at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday there was a badly injured fawn on state Route 14 near the Woodland Run entrance. Police checked and found the deer had gone into the woods.
– David M. Weikart, 45, Columbiana, was arrested at 12:41 p.m. Tuesday on North Main Street on a warrant through Mahoning County for failure to appear for a fourth OVI charge.
– A Fairfield Avenue woman reported receiving harassing text messages at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday.
– A man reported at 4 a.m. Wednesday a tree was down and blocking the road on North Elm Street. Police stood by until the street crew removed the tree.
LEETONIA
– An officer handled a custody issue at the police station at 9 a.m. June 15 in which the child’s father did not show up to return the child. The parents agreed to exchange the child at the father’s home in Springfield.
– Lyndon D. Vanpelt, 25, Columbiana, was cited for fictitious plates following a traffic stop at Madison Street and state Route 344 at 8:16 p.m. June 22 in which he was found to have purchased the vehicle in 2013 and had never registered it.
– Matthew Lehman, 37, Lisbon, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to a 300 block Columbia Street at 8:12 p.m. June 23 in reference to a domestic dispute.
– William Rousseau, 79, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates following a traffic stop at old state Route 344 and state Route 344 at 11:20 a.m. June 24.
– Adam Lewis, 26, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Pine and Washington streets at 7:43 p.m. June 24 following a traffic stop for loud exhaust.
– An officer responded to a verbal dispute in the 10 block of Walnut Street at 2:03 p.m. June 26.
– An officer conducted a traffic stop on state Route 344 at Main Street Extension at 2:47 a.m. June 28 and discovered a pipe suspected of having been used to smoke an illegal substance. Charges were pending drug testing.
– Doug Lewis, 59, East Palestine, was cited for fictitious plates following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Columbia Street at 6:39 p.m. June 28.
– Richard E. Kaufman IV, 32, Leetonia, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and criminal trespassing after officers responded to a 200 block Main Street home at 10:17 p.m. July 1 in reference to a man who entered through the rear of the home.
– Police responded to a 400 block Columbia Street home at 10:16 p.m. July 2 where the residents reported their son had been stealing cash and openly admitted smoking marijuana. The matter was turned over to the juvenile division.
– A patrolling officer observed damage to a portable toilet at the bike trail parking lot on Washington Street, as well as a traffic barrel that had been overturned in the roadway at 1:13 a.m. July 3.
– An officer responded to a possible domestic dispute in the 600 block of Columbia Street at 11:59 p.m. July 3.
– Thomas L. Cox Jr., 33, Hanoverton, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and cited for driving under suspension, fictitious plates, reckless operation and speed following an attempted traffic stop in the 300 block of Somer Street on July 4 in which he refused to stop, pulling into a nearby driveway and running into the home.
– Officers responded to a domestic dispute report in the 400 block of Columbia Street at 1:52 a.m. July 5 with screaming and yelling. They found a man who had been served charges from another jurisdiction early in the day and was upset.
– A Sleepy Hollow Drive resident reported possible Internet harassment at 1:22 p.m. July 6.
– An officer responded to a possible domestic dispute in a moving vehicle early July 8 and found the vehicle with one occupant in the area of Spruce and Somer streets. The occupant said the argument was verbal only and the other person left on foot. The officer spoke with the other person who confirmed it was a verbal argument. The officer later spoke with the second person after the first one said he contacted her threatening suicide on the train tracks, which the second person denied.
– An officer responded to a tree down in the 400 block of Columbia Street July 14, damaging a garage. The tree was found in an alley north of Columbia Street. The shade tree commissioner and street department were notified.
– Keith A. Whorley, 18, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Washington Street and Butcher Road at 5:21 p.m. July 22 in which several items of illegal substances was discovered.
– An officer responded to a 600 block Columbia Street home at 5:46 a.m. July 23 in reference to people screaming. It was determined that no assault or threat of an assault occurred.
– Officers responded with Columbiana police to a 400 block Columbia Street home at 11:38 p.m. July 26 in reference to someone holding a family hostage with an automatic rifle. The officers entered the home with guns drawn and cleared the house. The incident is being investigated as a false call and charges are pending.
– Mitzi S. Stoddard, 27, East Liverpool, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Columbia Street at Nold Street at 8:12 p.m. Aug. 4. A passenger, Natalie Flannigan, 33, East Liverpool, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. During the traffic stop, officers uncovered multiple items that were sent for drug testing.
– A Wilson Street resident reported at 2:21 p.m. Aug. 5 she believed someone had been in her home.
– An officer investigated a report of possible shots fired at the police station at 1:22 a.m. Saturday and found it to be fireworks being set off near the station.
– Larry Macklin Jr., Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 5:16 p.m. Monday.

PERRY TWP.
– Police responded at 10:29 p.m. Monday to Lake Avenue for a report of domestic violence, finding a son was arguing with his girlfriend when his mother tried to calm him down. He then began yelling at his mother and threw her across the back yard. The son and girlfriend were both gone when police arrived. The mother was told to call police if he returns.
– Gary Guappone, of Apple Street, reported at 11:47 a.m. Monday that his aluminum ladder was stolen from the rear of his shed. The ladder was hanging on the rear of his shed and locked with a combination lock.
– No citations were issued and there was no damage to either vehicle after a two-vehicle accident at 6:33 a.m. Monday at West State Street and state Route 45. Mackenzie Whitten, 24, of Alliance, was eastbound and stopped at the traffic light on West State Street when Charlie Middleton, 30, of Louisville, also eastbound, struck the rear of her vehicle with his vehicle. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
– Police on patrol at 3:11 a.m. Monday located two vehicles parked on Pine Lake Road at Egypt Road with multiple people on the road. Police spoke with the people who just wanted to check out the bridge. They were told they were trespassing on private property and were asked to leave, which they did without incident.
SALEM
– At the request of Perry Township Police, city officers responded at 10:31 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Lake Avenue for a reported domestic dispute. Officers learned one of the persons involved fled the area. Officers stood by until a Perry officer said nothing more was needed.
– A custody issue was reported at 9:36 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where a grandmother was attempting to return her grandkids to their father but no one would answer the door. The juveniles said their father had changed the locks to the doors and they had no way of entering the residence. Officers advised the grandmother to contact Children Services in the morning and explain the situation. The grandmother took the children back to her residence for the night.
– A possible missing juvenile was reported from the 1600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:38 p.m. Monday after being dropped off at the high school earlier in the day. The officer gathered information and shortly after leaving the residence was notified the juvenile was located by family members at the high school.
– An anonymous person came on station at 7:35 p.m. Monday to speak with an officer about illegal drug activity in the city. The information will be passed along to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.
– Police responded at 7:20 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Hawley Avenue for a well-being check on three juveniles. Officers made contact with the juveniles and they all said they were fine. Their father was also at the residence and said they were not having any problems at the home.
– Police responded to the pool at Centennial Park at 6:44 p.m. Monday for a reported theft. The pool manager said two females said they would not be getting into the pool, then got in and refused to pay the $7 fee when asked. The manager said the two had done this before. Officers located the two people, an adult female and her small child and her juvenile sister on South Union Avenue, and spoke with them, asking the pool manager to respond to the scene to speak with them as officers explained a theft offense and jail to the older sister. The manager arrived and said they could pay the pool fee and they were no longer welcome at the pool. The female agreed to pay the fee but did not have the correct amount, so the manager said for her to stop by and pay the fee the next day.
– A person to be removed was reported at Walmart at 5:37 p.m. Monday. An officer was advised two people were sleeping in their car and the manager wanted them to vacate the premises. Officers advised the people that it is the right of the store to have someone removed. They left.
COLUMBIANA
– Police checked on a barking dog complaint on South Elm Street at 9:13 a.m. Monday. There were no problems.
– A North Elm Street resident reported at 9:52 a.m. Monday he and his wife took their gun on vacation with them, and his wife was pretty certain she brought it back and put it inside the home and hid it. However, they couldn’t find it and wanted to make a report just to be safe.
– Kristie Covert, South Main Street, reported at 12:43 p.m. Monday her car was scratched and dented on the passenger side while at her home.
– Police warned the owner of dogs at 230 S. Elm St. of a barking dog complaint at 5:34 p.m. Monday.
– Police assisted Beaver Township with a traffic stop on state Route 164 at 10:32 p.m. Monday.
LISBON
-Police were asked to back up a sheriff’s deputy called to the Hornsby House at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday in regard to a possible assault. The deputy advised police of what Johnathan P. McCauley told him, and McCauley, 18, ended up being charged by police with obstructing police business.
– Emily Teny, Moore Street, reported Monday someone tried to break into her apartment, noting the living room window screen had been pulled out and bent. She reported hearing a noise at 2 a.m. but did not get up to look.

SALEM
– Police responded at 11:04 a.m. Monday to a report of a storage shed being open at a vacant house in the city. There was no sign of forced entry and officers secured the door. They also found the front door of the house unsecured, so the house was checked and locked up.
– A suspicious person was reported in the 1300 block of Robin Avenue at 9:21 a.m. Monday. The caller said an unknown person was knocking on her door then left the area northbound in a vehicle. She provided the vehicle registration. An officer contacted the person and he said he accidentally went to the wrong house.
– An alarm was reported at 3:21 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Lundy Avenue, but the building was found secure. The keyholder arrived and the interior was also checked and found secure.
– City police assisted Perry Township Police on a traffic stop at 3:16 a.m. Monday on Egypt Road.
– A caller from the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue reported at 1:41 a.m. Monday that someone was trying to break into her apartment. Officers searched the area and spoke with the caller.
– A reckless operator was reported at 10:12 p.m. Sunday on East State Street and North Ellsworth Avenue. The vehicle was not located.
– Police responded to West Wilson Street at 8:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a white vehicle with two male occupants that was observed driving slowly up and down the street several times as if looking for someone. A resident asked them who they were looking for, however, they only said a female and did not give a name before leaving the area.
– An officer on patrol at 6:49 p.m. Sunday saw a vehicle that had the windows broken out in a parking lot in the 300 block of East Pershing Street.
– An officer spoke with a woman from Sharp Avenue by phone at 4:24 p.m. Sunday regarding the well-being of her children. The father has temporary custody and she’s concerned he might leave the state with them. Children Services has an existing case and the officer made contact with the agency to forward information to the assigned investigator. The officer checked on the children and they were fine. The officer also reviewed custody paperwork and was advised by the father that he verified with the investigator and magistrate overseeing the case that he can leave the state with the children as long as he abides by any visitation requirements. The officer will follow up to affirm the information.
– Karrie Taylor, 59, of 7034 W. South Range Road, was charged with theft and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called at 2:23 p.m. Sunday for an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart. An asset protection associate said she saw a female scanning only a portion of the merchandise that was in her shopping cart at the self checkout register. The female left the store with unscanned items without attempting to pay for the unscanned items.
PERRY TWP.
– Police responded at 10:01 p.m. Sunday to Brittany Lane for a report of prowlers. A woman said she heard the doorbell ring but when she checked the front door, nobody was there. Police didn’t find anyone suspicious.
– Wires were reported hanging down due to a fallen tree limb at 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Egypt Road. No low wires were found.
– A loud party was reported at 12:55 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Pidgeon Road. An officer spoke with people at the party about the complaint and they said they weren’t aware they were being loud, but would keep the noise down.
– A loud music complaint was reported at 8:53 p.m. Saturday on Pine Lake Road. The homeowner was told to keep the music to a minimum. Police also advised if they had to return, the party would be shut down.
– A barking dog was reported at 8:04 p.m. Saturday on Elberon Avenue, but was not found.
– Marlene Senanefes, 64, of Lisbon, was cited for a stop sign violation after a two-vehicle accident at state Route 344 and Cunningham Road at 1:40 p.m. Saturday. Senanefes was traveling south on Cunningham Road and stopped at the stop sign, then traveled into the intersection at state Route 344 and was struck by an eastbound motorcycle operated by James Kozar, 46, who was on state Route 344. Kozar was transported from the scene by KLG Ambulance and taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
– Police responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:08 a.m. Saturday for a report of people drinking alcoholic beverages in a parking lot. Nobody was located.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– James A. Stear, 49, Canfield, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 10000 block of state Route 46 at 12:22 a.m. Sunday in which he was northbound and attempted to turn around in a driveway, backing into the ditch. No injuries were reported.
COLUMBIANA
– A Dunkin Donuts employee reported at 4:23 a.m. Sunday there was a man passed out in his car in the parking lot and they weren’t sure if the man was sleeping or if he needed help. Police checked and found the man was just sleeping and was going to be on his way.
LISBON
– A caller reported there were people swimming in the Middle Fork of Little Beaver Creek below the dam at Willow Grove Park at 7:09 p.m. Sunday. Police checked and determined the people were fishing and having a picnic, and there were no safety concerns.
– A caller reported someone was laying in the middle of the alley behind Sentry Hardware at 1:11 a.m. Sunday. Police found Chasity Kaufman laying on her back and bleeding from her knees. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after being cited for public intoxication.
– Ryan M. Daniels of Niles was sitting at the traffic light on East Lincoln Way at Carter Lumber at 12:30 a.m. Sunday when he backed up to make room for a semi-trailer making a left turn, striking the vehicle behind him, which was operated by Karen S. Fulk of Olney, Ill.
– Kris Elsass, North Jefferson Street, reported Saturday his storage space at 121 W. Lincoln Way was broken into while he was incarcerated, and missing were extension ladders, a hot tub pump, tools, jewelry, TVs and other items.
– A caller reported there was a loud party at the Sadie Van Fossen pool at 9:15 p.m. Friday. Police spoke with the occupants and told them it was time to turn down the music and go home.
– Police called for a towing company to remove a vehicle found in the Valley View parking lot at 7:50 a.m. Saturday.
– Joseph Sponseller backed into a pickup in the county municipal court parking lot at 3:08 p.m. Saturday. The owner, Charles Handy, was found at the county fair and police remained while the parties exchanged information.
– Police were called to a South Jefferson Street home at 3 a.m. Monday in regard to a man who deliberately took some pills in an attempt to harm himself. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

SALEM REPORTS
– Police responded to a barking dog complaint at 2:52 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East Third Street, but heard no dog.
– A caller at 2:29 p.m. Sunday reported a toddler in a blue convertible in the Rite Aid parking lot without a child seat. The car was not found.
– A residential alarm was reported at 11:40 a.m. Sunday on Kennedy Drive. The exterior was secure.
– Officers stopped in Centennial Park off of Oak Street at 4:38 a.m. Sunday for two suspicious vehicles in the park after hours. Officers arrived and made contact with multiple people. After further investigation, five juveniles were taken into custody for unruly offenses and one of the five also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Columbiana County. Two people who were of age were advised of park hours and told to leave, while the five juveniles were taken to the station for processing. A 17-year-old boy from East Liverpool was charged for being unruly and also served with the warrant and turned over to a deputy. Others charged for being unruly and released to parents/guardians were a 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy both from East Liverpool, a 12-year-old girl from Alliance and a 13-year-old girl from Beloit. The matter will be turned over to the juvenile officer.
– Police responded at 4:12 a.m. Sunday to Circle K West, 780 W. State St., where a female advised she and a male got into an argument and he left the business without paying for his cup of coffee. An officer located the male, who said he did not realize he did not pay for the coffee due to leaving the store upset. He returned to the business and paid for the coffee.
– Dylan Klaas, 20, of 1326 Jefferson Ave., was charged with underage consumption of alcohol and taken to the Columbiana County jail at 3:13 a.m. Sunday after a traffic stop in the municipal parking lot off of Sugartree Alley beside the Salem News for an alleged fictitious plates violation. No citation was issued for the fictitious plates due to it looking like a clerical error, but the driver, Klaas had allegedly been consuming alcohol.
– Police were called at 11:37 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of West Sixth Street for a noise complaint about power equipment. An officer spoke with a man who said he was trying to get an in-home project finished and did not realize the time of night. He said he would quit for the night.
– An officer on patrol at 10:48 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Avenue and Summit Street saw a man on his back on a lawn near the corner. He was initially unresponsive and the officer saw injuries to his face and called for an ambulance and first responders, along with additional officers. Several family members of the person arrived and said they were aware he had been at a party and had too much to drink and they had been looking for him. One family member was able to get him to respond and wanted to remove him, but was told medical personnel needed to evaluate him and determine whether he needed transported to the hospital. Due to his injuries and being intoxicated, EMT Ambulance advised he needed to go to the hospital. A family member had to have other family members move back due to interfering with emergency personnel. The man said he had been sleeping at a friend’s house where there had been a party. He had no idea how he got to Summit Street where he was found. He also said his nose was bloody due to being in a fight with another male. Once sober, he was told to come to the station to provide a written statement regarding the alleged assault.
– A perimeter alarm was reported at 8:51 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Pearce Circle. The exterior of the property was secure.
– An officer on patrol at Centennial Park at 6:55 p.m. Saturday performed a routine check on a vehicle registration which alerted to a possible stolen vehicle. The officer made contact with the occupants of the parked vehicle and the occupants provided documentation. It was noted the last six digits matched those of a stolen vehicle. The occupants were thanked for their cooperation.
– A man on Fifth Street reported at 6 p.m. Saturday that he left his cell phone at a business on South Broadway the night before. He checked with the business and several other locations but did not find the phone.
– Police responded at 5:17 p.m. Saturday to a parking lot of a business in the 2900 block of East State Street where a person was reported approaching customers and attempting to solicit money from them. An officer checked the entire parking lot and spoke with the manager. The suspect left before police arrived.
– A possible theft was reported at 5:07 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Maple Street where a woman said her sister removed her DVD player from her room. She was told it’s a civil matter and she would have to go through civil court. The other person involved said she no longer wanted the woman at the residence. She was told she needed to go through the eviction process.
– Brandon Stonestreet, 23, of 33584 Coffee School Road, was cited for possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 5 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue for an alleged equipment violation. The police department K-9 alerted to the presence of the scent of narcotics and a search of the vehicle did produce several items. The driver, Stonestreet, was issued the citations and another item located in the vehicle will be sent for testing. A charge may be pending when the substance is tested.
– Elizabeth Bennett, 20, of Woodsdale Road, was cited for failure to yield after her northbound vehicle on South Ellsworth Avenue proceeded into the intersection at Wilson Street after stopping at the stop sign and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Toni Stout, 59, of Spring Street, who was in the intersection at 1:29 p.m. Friday.
– No citations were issued due to conflicting stories regarding a two-vehicle accident at 10:02 a.m. Friday on East State Street at Cunningham Road. The report said a vehicle driven by Roselina Juan, 41, of Ohio Avenue, failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Beverly Grimes, 54, of Benton Road, who was stopped for the red light. The report said Juan told police the other vehicle coasted backwards and struck the front of her vehicle. Grimes was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center after experiencing neck pain. Both EMT Ambulance and fire department first responders had been called to the scene.

– While on patrol at 2:13 a.m. Saturday police found children in the park after hours and turned them over to a parent.
– Richard Hura, Columbiana, was stationary in a line of traffic facing southbound on North Main at 1:51 p.m. Saturday when he was struck from behind by Steven Withers, North Lima. Withers was cited with assured clear distance. No injuries were reported.
– A possible drunk driver was reported in the Burger King lot in a dark green Grand Am at 8:17 p.m. Saturday.
– Howard Cope, Firestone Avenue, Columbiana, reported at 8:25 p.m. Saturday it appeared an unknown person attempted to set his camper on fire. Police found that it appeared someone tried to catch the tires on fire sometime in the past week.
– A woman reported loud booming music coming from a home on North West Street at 9:33 p.m. Saturday. Police warned the resident to turn it down and that any further complaints would result in a citation.
– A woman reported at 9:50 p.m. Saturday a man wearing a white shirt and black shorts without shoes approached her on North Main Street asking if she wanted to buy cocaine.

-Police responded at 1:58 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of East Third Street for a male who appeared intoxicated and was going in and out of a vehicle. An officer located the vehicle, but no person was around, then the male appeared and claimed the vehicle. He said he had not consumed any alcoholic beverages and reported having a head injury and being on new medication. A family member came on the scene and said the male may be suffering from traumatic brain injury. The person was advised the officer did not feel comfortable with him driving. He left the area on foot with the family member.
– A man in the 700 block of Prospect Street reported at 1:35 p.m. Saturday that he came home from work and found a note in his mailbox saying if he doesn’t keep his dog quiet, someone would kill his dog. He was given options.
– Justin Everett, 37, of 180 Ohio Ave., was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 1:04 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The license plates and vehicle registration were confiscated.
– The Walmart asset protection manager reported at 10:54 a.m. Saturday that a female placed a credit card into the self checkout register on Aug. 3, only to cancel the payment. After she canceled the payment, she left the store with $44.27 worth of merchandise. The manager also reported a female used a credit card at the self checkout and the card was denied. The female left the store with $154.99 worth of merchandise in her shopping cart without rendering a valid form of payment. Both incidents are under investigation.
– A man came to the police station at 10:34 a.m. Saturday requesting a police escort to collect his belongings from a property on Continental Drive. He had been served with a protection order saying he’s to have no contact with his ex-girlfriend, with whom he resided, and there was a court order to have police escort him to retrieve his things. An officer escorted him to the apartment and then gave him a ride to his place of employment.
– Debris was removed from the road at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at West State Street and Jennings Avenue.
– An alarm activated at 7:31 a.m. Saturday at a business in the 2900 block of East State Street. The outer perimeter doors were secure. Officers saw a display case had broken, causing several items to fall onto the floor.
– Jeanne Kennedy, 54, of 310 Vine St., was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain reasonable control on Saturday related to a hit/skip accident reported at 2:11 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue. A caller said a northbound vehicle swerved to the right and struck the rear of a parked car and left the scene, continuing to the stop light on East State Street. He confronted the female driver and told her she just struck a vehicle. The driver got out and apologized, then left. The owner of the parked vehicle, Mallory Roberts, was notified by police of the damage. On Saturday, an officer saw the suspect vehicle parked at the residence of the registered owner and saw damage. The owner admitted driving the vehicle during the accident.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 2:54 a.m. Saturday at South Ellsworth Avenue and Mullins. Officers located the vehicle in question but did not observe any violation. The vehicle parked in a nearby drive.
– A man from East Fifth Street reported at 1:06 a.m. Saturday that he was in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue when the mother of his child kicked the right front fender of his Chevy Monte Carlo. Officers saw a dent in the fender. He did not want to pursue charges but wanted her told not to damage his property. Officers attempted to make contact with her.
– A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 12:56 a.m. Saturday that in the past few days it has sounded like someone was throwing objects at her house. On Saturday, it sounded like there had been firecrackers thrown at her house. Officers checked the area for a suspicious person, but didn’t find any. She was told to call police if she sees any suspicious activity.
– An officer on patrol at 12:32 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East State Street saw two females engaged in a verbal dispute, learning they were sisters. One of the sisters left home with two friends to get pizza after she was told not to leave. All parties were told to return home and not leave for the remainder of the evening.
– Police were called at 11:55 p.m. Friday to Cunningham Road for an intoxicated person walking in the road. Police located a person walking near the curb and he said he was just walking home and didn’t live far away. Officers provided the person a courtesy ride home.
– Police checked on an alarm at a closed business at 10:10 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of East State Street. Everything appeared fine.
– Walmart asset protection advised police at 9:31 p.m. Friday that a parked vehicle was moved to another part of the parking lot and had been parked there for over three weeks. Walmart wanted the vehicle towed from the lot. The vehicle was removed and the owner contacted.
– Karen Reynolds, of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at 8:37 p.m. Friday that someone hit her vehicle while it was parked in the Walmart parking lot.
– Animal neglect was reported at 8:34 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Howard Avenue. An officer responded and saw the animal and saw no signs of abuse. The owner was contacted and advised of the complaint. She was told to make sure the dog is restrained at all times and to have some water outside on hot days.
– A dispute was reported at 7:39 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue. An officer spoke with the people involved and determined the problem was a civil issue over property. Options were given for dealing with the situation.
– A cell phone found in the 200 block of East Second Street was turned over to police at 4:42 p.m. Friday. The owner was contacted and retrieved her phone at the station.
– Noah McBride, 20, of Columbiana, was cited for assured clear distance after a three-vehicle accident at 6:30 p.m. Friday on State Street. The report said McBride’s westbound vehicle failed to stop for traffic and struck the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Allyson Bentz, 34, of Beaver Falls, Pa., who was stopped for traffic. A westbound vehicle driven by Mark Frost, 68, of Columbiana, then struck the rear of the McBride vehicle. The damage to the McBride and Frost vehicles was very minor. No injuries were reported.

– At 6:29 a.m. Friday, a caller said she was rear-ended at McDonald’s.
– At 8:16 a.m. Friday, James Felger was parked next to Theodore Houck in the police department parking lot. Felger began to pull out of the parking spot and misjudged the distance between the two vehicles, striking Houck’s bumper.
-At 10:31 a.m. Friday, Kimberly Cooper backed from a parking spot at the Dutch Haus and hit as parked vehicle owned by Helen Helton.
– Following a stop at West Salem and North Vine at 6:19 p.m. Friday, Tiffany Rabquer, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension. Her passenger, James Rivera, was arrested for a county warrant.

– A man reported at 4:35 p.m. Thursday three kids were on a property at an abandoned home on South Elm Street. Police checked but didn’t find anyone there.
– A man reported at 5:55 p.m. Thursday someone had possibly sprayed a fire extinguisher in the bathroom at Firestone Park. Police checked and found no damage other than chemical residue left on the floor. A note was left with the park crew to check it on Friday.
– A man reported at 5 p.m. Thursday a washer caught fire at Compco. Police assisted firefighters on the call.

– An officer responded to an East Fourth Street apartment complex at 1:42 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported the smell of marijuana, but was unable to detect any odor.
– Officers responded with the fire department to a reported porch fire in the 100 block of West 14th Street at 5:42 p.m. Thursday. They stood by while the fire department extinguished the fire.
– An officer responded to a 100 block West Pershing Street home at 6:08 p.m. Thursday in reference to a dispute and found a neighbor arguing with the complainant’s young grandson. They were advised to stay away from each other.
– Jeremy Allen Bender, 38, 260 Railroad St., Salem, was arrested at his home at 1:13 a.m. Friday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to register as a sex offender.
– Officers assisted Perry Township police at a fight at an 1100 block Prospect Street apartment complex at 2:38 a.m. Friday. They stood by while Perry Township officers conducted the investigation.
– Hayden Scott Miller, 24, 14526 Salem Alliance Road, Salem, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments after his mother flagged down an officer in 1800 block of East State Street at 3:52 a.m. Friday to report she was transporting Miller to the Pittsburgh airport to fly to California for drug rehab, but that she believed him to have drugs in the car and was going to harm her. Officers searched Miller and found several items of drug abuse paraphernalia as well as pills and possible meth. Additional charges are pending.
– Officers responded with the fire department to a 100 block Georgetown Road home at 6:16 a.m. Friday in reference to a possible structure fire and found it to be a homeowner burning yard debris. The fire department extinguished the fire and warned the homeowner about open burning laws.
– An officer responded to a possible water line break in the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 7:08 a.m. Friday and found it to indeed be a water line break. The water department was advised of the issue.
– An officer responded to a 900 block North Ellsworth Avenue business at 9:43 a.m. Friday in reference to a customer who appeared ready to faint. Upon arrival the officer found the customer had already left.
– Police responded to the 300 block of East State Street at 9:58 p.m. Friday where a Niles resident reported an issue with her ex-husband that was found to be civil in nature.
– Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on East State Street at Cunningham Road at 10:02 a.m. Friday in which a driver had been stopped in the westbound lane at the stop light when allegedly struck from behind by another vehicle. The first driver was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital after reporting pain in her neck. No citation was issued due to conflicting accounts and no apparent damage to the rear of the first vehicle.
– A Maple Street resident reported at 12:40 p.m. Friday finding cash and clothing missing from her home since the prior afternoon. She said she also found clothing missing a couple months prior.
– An officer responded to a 900 block West State Street business at 12:40 p.m. Friday where a man reported someone had stolen the dealer license plate off his vehicle, probably while he was in Poland. He was advised to contact that police department.
– An officer responded to a report of a man lying in a yard in the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:03 p.m. Friday, but was unable to find anyone.
– Elizabeth Ann Bennett, 20, Salem, was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign following a two-vehicle crash at South Ellsworth Avenue and West Wilson Street at 1:29 p.m. Friday in which she was northbound and struck a westbound vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– A state Route 45 resident reported at 3:31 p.m. Friday having lost her wallet at a 2400 block East State Street business while inside the store or in the parking lot. She said the wallet contained cash and several personal identification cards.

– Patricia Lynn Hall, 66, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on an OVI second offense following a traffic stop on Goshen Road at Colonial Drive at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday.
– An officer accompanied a towing company to remove a nuisance vehicle from the driveway of a North Lincoln Avenue home at 9:38 a.m. Thursday.
– An officer responded to a Pembrooke Drive home at 12:20 p.m. Thursday where a man reported letting two men who identified themselves as representatives from a cable company with a work order for the residence into his mother’s home. The man said the men appeared to be looking at the telephone/cable line, then removed a section and left, leaving the phone not working. He said upon contacting the company he found there was no work order for the residence, but later learned that they were at the wrong home and should have been at a neighboring residence.
– An officer responded to the 1800 block of Goshen Road at 12:28 p.m. Thursday where a delivery truck had drifted off the roadway into a ditch. No citation was issued.
– A South Lincoln Avenue resident reported at 2:33 p.m. Thursday someone had damaged his broom and other items that were in the hallway of the apartment complex, noting an ongoing issue with someone staying with another resident there. An officer responded to the home at 9:20 p.m. the same day after the resident reported the person stole a rug from in front of his door. The alleged suspect said he did not steal anything and that he is currently seeking a protection order against the complainant. They were advised to stay away from each other.
– An officer responded to a Prospect Street apartment complex at 2:35 a.m. Friday in reference to a fight between three men. The officer spoke with all individuals involved who each refused medical treatment and did not wish to pursue charges. They were advised to stay away from each other the remainder of the night.
– Police responded to the area of Georgetown Road and West Pershing Street at 6:13 a.m. Friday for a report of smoke coming from behind a home. The resident was found to be having a large bonfire inside city limits and the Salem Fire Department was contacted to extinguish it.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– An officer responded to an 8000 block West South Range Road home at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday where the resident reported his wife had taken his cell phone during an argument. An officer returned to the home at 10:40 p.m. to perform a welfare check after someone reported a photo on the wife’s Facebook page of an injured hand and unknown threats in the comment section. The husband said he was unaware of the situation and Salem police checked with the wife at her place of employment, where she said everything was fine.
– An officer responded to a Redwood Drive, Beloit, home at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday where the resident had called 911 requesting police assistance and then hung up. The resident said she wanted her brother removed from the residence and was advised of the eviction process. She was also advised not to call 911 and hang up.
– An officer responded with Damascus medical personnel to a West Garfield Road home at 1:40 a.m. Thursday where a young juvenile was having a severe seizure for approximately 20 minutes. The child was transported to the Salem hospital for treatment.
– An officer responded with the Beloit Fire Department to a Fifth Street, Beloit, apartment for a stove fire at 3:52 p.m. Thursday and found that the resident had fallen asleep while cooking hotdogs. No injury was reported.
– An officer responded to the Greenford Christian Church at 5 p.m. Thursday for a medical emergency and found the victim already being treated by Green Township medical personnel.
– An officer responded to the area of state Route 14 and Egypt Road at 9:55 p.m. Thursday in reference to a disabled vehicle and found that the vehicle’s serpentine belt had broken and the driver was waiting for someone to pull the vehicle home using a chain. The driver was advised not to do that and was told the vehicle could remain until the next day since it was off the roadway.
– Officers responded with Smith Township police to the area of state Route 14 and Smith-Goshen Road at 12:25 a.m. Friday where a motorist reported seeing two females who appeared to be disposing of a mobile meth lab. The women were found to be collecting scrap metal and were advised not to do it at night due to the possibility of being hit by a vehicle.

– Police were called at 8:06 a.m. Thursday to the Salem Utilities Department for a suspicious personal letter found in the overnight drop box.
– Police responded at 3:40 a.m. Thursday to the 1100 block of East Ninth Street for a well-being check. A male at the residence said he was laying down watching television and there had been no arguing or fighting. He said a female was inside and he was told to have her come outside. The two were questioned separately and the female denied any physical violence. There were no visible injuries.
– An officer on patrol at 1:31 a.m. Thursday in Waterworth Memorial Park off of East Eighth Street saw a silver Ford pickup parked in the lot after the park was closed. A male and female were found laying in the bed of the truck who both said they were just talking and fell asleep. The female was a 16-year-old juvenile who was then taken into custody for a curfew violation. She was taken to the police station, processed and released to her mother. The male was advised to leave the park since it was after closing.
– An officer at 1:07 a.m. Thursday was flagged down by hospital security at 1995 E. State St. regarding a couple of people hanging out in the north parking lot for an extended period of time. The officer checked on a male and two females in the lot who said they were just utilizing the WiFi at a nearby business. Contact was made with one of the parents of one of the females in a parking lot nearby and they left.
– Loud arguing and possible fighting was reported at 12:52 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street. Police spoke to a male who appeared intoxicated and said there had been no fighting or arguing at the residence. Moments later a female came to the door and said there had been no arguing or fighting, but they were in the back yard having a conversation and listening to music.
– Police responded at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday to Ventra, 800 Pennsylvania Ave., for a well-being check. The person said she was fine.
– A possible disturbance was reported outside an apartment building in the 300 block of Vine Avenue at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday. Officers walked through the apartment complex and checked the parking lot, but the only noise was coming from children playing in a nearby fenced back yard.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue for a complaint at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday. A woman said a male agreed to complete a job for her but failed to do so after receiving the money. The incident is under investigation.
– A caller at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday reported a dog inside a vehicle with the windows up in the hospital parking lot. The vehicle was no longer there when police arrived.
– A barking dog was reported at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue. No noise violation was heard.
– An ATM bank card found by a citizen was turned over to police at 6:54 p.m. Wednesday.
– A woman in the 500 block of Walnut Street reported at 6:41 p.m. Wednesday that a male who lives or visits nearby had been driving excessively fast in the alley. She confronted and yelled at the person prior to officers arriving. The person left in a beige mini van. Officers planned to attempt to contact the driver.
– Christopher Hyler, 27, of 193 Rose Ave., was taken into custody at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue on a warrant for assault out of Columbiana County. A deputy transported him to the jail.
– A caller at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday reported trash containers sitting in a curb lawn in the 1200 block of East Third Street the past three days. Nobody was home.
– A fight was reported at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of South Union Avenue, but police found there was no fight. There was a dispute between the landlord and the tenant’s son. The landlord said he has told the tenant when her adult son is there he wants him to wear a shirt but today he was outside without one. An argument ensued and the male claimed the landlord tried to shut the door on him and was squeezing him between the door and frame. The landlord said the tenant and her son have violated the lease several times and he’s tired of it. Neither wanted to pursue charges.
– Debra Looman, 64, of Carrollton, was cited for failure to yield after her eastbound vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Joanne Everly, 41, of Salem Warren Road, while attempting to turn into the drive for Plaza Auto Wash on East State Street at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday. The report said an unidentified driver in another vehicle had stopped in traffic westbound and waved Looman to cross in front of him so she could turn, but she did not see the Everly vehicle. The report said the accident caused major damage to both vehicles and minor injuries to both drivers.
– James Raneri, 30, of East Third Street, was cited for failure to yield and taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on a driving under suspension charge after an accident at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street, the site of a new four-way stop. Ruth Vestal, 80, of Jennings Avenue, was eastbound on Third and stopped for the new four-way stop sign at Lincoln. Raneri was westbound on East Third and stopped for the new four-way stop at Lincoln. Both stopped at the same time and both began into the intersection when Raneri attempted to turn left in front of Vestal. The vehicles collided in the middle and left debris, but both were moved out of the intersection before police arrived.
– Police responded to Fresh Mark, 1735 S. Lincoln Ave., at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday for a complaint. One employee was released and now that employee has made threats toward another employee still working.
– A woman on West Eighth Street called police at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday for a suspicious vehicle, saying two men were sitting in a truck on the road for some time. An officer found they were employees of R.T. Vernal, the company doing the paving project for the city.
– A man in the 400 block of Vine Avenue reported at 7:23 a.m. Wednesday that there was an unauthorized charge on his bank check card. When he checked his financial records, he discovered someone charged $17.71 on Aug. 1 at a local business. He had possession of the debit card and whoever used it apparently returned it prior to him knowing. The incident is under investigation.

– A Sparkle employee reported at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday a woman was stealing toothbrushes from the store. The matter is under investigation.
– Daisy Letson, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Lisbon Street at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

-Kristen Guappone, Buffalo Road, Kensington, reportedly unparked into a car belonging to Kenneth Woods, Washington Street, Washingtonville, while at the farmer’s produce stand in North Market Street 2:18 p.m. Wednesday.
-Jerry Westlake, High Street, Salineville, reportedly unparked into a station wagon belonging to Monique Kernich, Saltwell Road, Lisbon, in the Home Savings & Loan lot at 10:14 a.m. Wednesday.
-A caller reported there was a parked red truck leaking gas in the town square on South Park Avenue at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday. The fire department was contacted to clean up the spill.
-A child from Sherman Street called at 1:11 a.m. Wednesday because his parents were arguing. Police arrived and spoke with the father, who said he and his wife were arguing over their animals destroying the house and he yelled for her to get rid of the pets. The wife claimed her husband grabbed her by the neck but there were no visible marks and she declined to press charges. Meanwhile, the husband left to spend the night at a friend’s house.
-Rebecca Lavalley reported at 10:54 p.m. Tuesday her boyfriend, Shawn Haines, stole $60 from her. Haines was located on East Chestnut Street and claimed Lavalley gave him the money. Police took the $60 and returned it to Lavalley.
-Police assisted a sheriff’s deputy in responding to a possible break-in at the Sparkle supermarket at 4 a.m. Thursday. A window was found broken, and the only items stolen were several cartons of cigarettes.

– An officer on patrol in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle parked in the lot at the rear of a property with no registration plates and a flat tire. A warning notice was placed on the windshield to have it moved within 48 hours or it will be towed.
– A resident in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 1:33 a.m. Wednesday that someone was knocking on his back door. Officers checked the area on foot, but no one was found.
– An alarm was reported at 12:36 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Second Street. The exterior of the business was secure.
– A man from East Sixth Street reported at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday that he has custody of a child and voluntarily allowed the child to visit and stay the night with the child’s mother, but learned the mother’s boyfriend was there with a pet dog. He was concerned the dog may bite the child and didn’t want the child staying overnight, but the mother refused to turn the child over and the child wanted to stay with the mother. An officer checked at the address on Highland Avenue and found the child was asleep and the dog secured away from the child. Legalities were explained to both parties.
– A caller at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday reported a suspicious vehicle driving around the block multiple times around Morris and Mound. The vehicle was no longer there after police arrived.
– An officer at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday saw a concentration of dark smoke rising in the air in the 400 to 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The officer could smell burning plastic and located a moderate-sized cookout fire in a back yard. The resident said they were burning dry wood, but a juvenile tossed a plastic pop bottle into the fire, resulting in a brief burst of dark smoke. – Police responded to a restaurant in the 500 block of East State Street for a male having a medical problem at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday. Fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance also responded.
– An upset person was reported on a phone at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the area of South Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street. An anonymous person said the male was yelling loudly on his phone and swearing. Police made contact with the person and he said he would keep it down.
– A woman from the 2500 block of Lexington reported at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday that her credit card was missing and she was contacted regarding a fraudulent charge. She had already contacted her insurance agency.
– Jack Pasco, 66, of West Eighth Street, was cited for a stop sign violation after his northbound vehicle failed to stop at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday at a stop sign and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Gloria Powers, 68, of Berlin Center, at the intersection of East Third Street and North Lincoln Avenue. Powers, Pasco and Pasco’s passenger, Mabelle Pasco, 64, also of Eighth Street, were treated at the scene and refused transport.
– An officer in the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday was advised by a motorist of a woman possibly in distress. The officer found the woman sitting beside a telephone pole and asked if she needed assistance. She said she was just taking a break and did not need help. The officer checked back a few minutes later and she had left.
– Salem Fire Department personnel reported a hit/skip accident at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday after seeing a champagne-colored truck with ladder racks on top strike a telephone pole and leave the scene near Filbert. The pole was not damaged.
– Shane Endicott, 26, of 647 E. Pine Lake Road, was taken into custody at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue on a warrant for obstructing official business.
– A man in the 400 block of West Wilson Street reported at 8 a.m. Tuesday that the tires of his pickup were slashed and the tires of a trailer he borrowed from a friend were also slashed.

-Susan L. Hedl, 64, state Route 164, Lisbon, was cited for failure to stop in an assured cleared distance after she drove into the rear of a stopped motor vehicle operated by Joann Luketic, 50, of East Chestnut Street, on North Market Street at Morris Street at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday.
COLUMBIANA
– At 11:36 a.m. Tuesday, Burnadette Mellinger, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension during a traffic stop on South Vine.
– At 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, a caller complained about a Mercury parked in the wrong direction on East Woodland. The driver moved the vehicle.
– Gary Leonard, East Friend Street, reported at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday electrical trucks damaged his yard while on their way to the electrical substation.
– A caller from Tic Toc reported a vehicle in a ditch at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday.
– Kristin Stalnaker, West Salem Street, reported at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday the back door of her vehicle was damaged from a possible break-in.

– A woman in the 600 block of East 12th Street called at 7:29 a.m. Tuesday to report the neighbor’s trash laying on their property. Officers made contact with the neighbor who said an animal must have gotten into it overnight and the trash service should be there to pick it up.
– A drug/narcotic problem was reported at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday by a resident in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue who said his juvenile nephew came home impaired on marijuana. He wanted officers to speak to him. Officers spoke to the juvenile and advised him of the possible consequences if he continued the actions.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 11:57 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue where a female caller said she heard her neighbor arguing with her boyfriend in the upstairs apartment. Officers made contact with the female victim who said her boyfriend followed her inside her apartment and caused her bodily harm. There was apparent redness and bruising on the victim. Officers gathered information and charges are pending. The victim did not want medical treatment.
– Police responded to South Broadway Avenue near Columbia Street at 11:51 p.m. Monday for a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Several people were found in the immediate area playing the Pokemon Go game, but no disturbance was located.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported in the high school parking lot off of F.E. Cope Drive at 10:42 p.m. Monday but no vehicles were found when police arrived.
– A woman at 8:40 p.m. Monday reported finding a wallet on North Ellsworth Avenue and East 10th Street and turned it over to police. The wallet was placed in the lost and found with a phone message left for the owner.
– A caller at 8:08 p.m. Monday reported a dog was left outside all day without water in the 800 block of West Perry Street. The dog had been taken inside prior to officers arriving. The owner told police she makes sure the dog has water throughout the day. Officers advised her to make sure the dog has water due to the heat.
– Police were called at 8:01 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue to check for juveniles climbing monuments. Officers did not locate anyone in Hope Cemetery, but the caller identified one of the juveniles and officers located him and the other juveniles involved at a nearby residence. They were told the error of their ways and a parent advised he would take corrective action.
– Officers responded to the east end of the city at 7:53 p.m. Monday for a possible intoxicated driver last seen leaving a business parking lot in the 2400 to 2500 block of East State Street. The vehicle was gone.
– A man from the 800 block of West Wilson Street came to speak with an officer at 7:40 p.m. Monday regarding custody of one of his children. He was told it was a civil matter. Due to the circumstances, the officer told him police would document the situation.
– Police responded at 6:55 p.m. Monday to the area of Court Drive at Centennial Park for a report of persons smoking marijuana. Officers located the persons in question but did not detect any type of suspicious activity or evidence of illegal drug use.
– A woman on East Seventh Street reported at 4:14 p.m. Monday that an unknown person in a white van took a photo of her residence in the 400 block. She was told to call back if the vehicle returns.
PERRY TWP.
– A woman from Garfield Avenue met with an officer at the station at 9:15 p.m. Monday regarding questions on domestic matters. She was advised of her options.
– Police responded at 7:28 p.m. Monday to East 11th Street for a report of juveniles riding ATVs on the street, but did not find them.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 6:16 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street in Salem Acres. Police were told the confrontation was verbal only. Both parties were told to avoid each other as best they can.
– A man reported at 4:30 p.m. Monday that within the last two weeks the registration sticker was stolen off of his vehicle while in the 1100 block of West Perry Street. He said Columbiana Police had stopped the vehicle about a week ago and told him he needed to file a report in the jurisdiction where the theft occurred.
– A woman reported at 9:32 a.m. Monday that a debit card was stolen from her purse on July 8 while she was working at Blossom Nursing Home on Blossom Lane off of Depot Road. She already spoke to a representative of her bank and was reimbursed for the fraudulent transactions.

– Breanne Hull, North Middle Street, called at 9:25 a.m. Monday to file a protection order against her boyfriend due to something he put on social media.
– Thomas Goodlin called Monday regarding fraud and theft involving Kimpel’s Jewelry.
– A rape that occurred Sunday night in Mahoning County was reported Monday.
– A gray car with a dog inside and the windows up in the Dutch Village Inn parking lot was reported at 12:28 p.m. Monday. When an officer checked, the windows were down.
– At 6:06 p.m. Monday, it was reported that Mary Spiker’s car jumped the curb on the east side of Burger King and struck the building.
– A parking complaint was made about a vehicle facing the wrong way in front of Paul’s Cafe at the corner of Friend Street and South Main at 6:33 p.m. The driver was given a citation.
LISBON
– A neighbor reported seeing someone enter Tara’s Beauty Shop, Exchange Street, at 11:07 p.m. Friday, but it turned out to be to a relative of the owner.
– Marsha Lanfried reported there were two vehicles parked by the mausoleum in the cemetery at 11:13 p.m. Friday. It turned out the occupants were playing Pokemon Go and they were advised the cemetery was closed, so they left.
– Tracy Gilmore, East Washington Street, reported at 3:13 a.m. Saturday he and his wife were assaulted while sitting outside their home. They said an unknown man ran into the yard about an hour before and began punching them in the face before running off.
– A burglar alarm was going off at the Green Street home of Thomas Page at 11:09 a.m. Thursday. No one was home but a vehicle registered to the owner was parked in the driveway. The house was found secure.
– Police responded to a loud music complaint at 9:35 p.m. Friday and the persons agreed to turn down the volume on the music.
– Police responded to the area of the Steel Trolley Diner at 2:43 a.m. Sunday in regard to a group of customers who had been thrown out because they had been fighting with other patrons. Police caught up with the group in the Save A Lot parking lot and they said they were leaving because the other people were wanting to fight. The driver was not drunk, as the caller had suggested, and they were told to stay away from the diner for the rest of the night.
– A driver for Paul’s Taxi reported dropping off a customer at her home on North Market Street at 6 a.m. Saturday and she never came back outside to pay the fare. Police ended up filing theft charges against Sherrie Jo Moore, 52.
– Municipal Court Judge Chris Amato called at 2 p.m. Thursday to ask for an officer to administer a breathalyzer test on an unnamed person. The person tested 0.18, which is legally drunk, and was found in contempt and sentenced to jail.
– Police were called to the Valley View convenience store at 6:52 p.m. Friday, where they found George Mort standing in the street screaming unintelligible things. After Mort calmed down he told police someone in white face had frightened him, so he hit him. Police went in the store and located the victim, who was not wearing a mask, and he declined to press charges. Police gave Mort a ride back to his apartment at the Hornsby House and told him to say there until he calmed down. Police were later called to the Hornsby House at 8:14 p.m. because Mort was acting out of control. Mort, 42, charged at police when he saw them, screaming and flailing his arms before punching one of the officers in the shoulders with both fists. He was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
– A caller reported someone was riding a skateboard on state Route 154 at 10:40 a.m. Monday. Police located the person, who was told to confine his skateboarding to the side of the road and not to weave in and out of traffic.
– The newspaper boxes were knocked over and the newspapers strewn about outside the county government services building at 9:12 a.m. Monday.
– Jennifer and Michael Schnellar reported Monday they were walking on Chestnut Street about 8:30 a.m. when someone they know called them stupid idiots and threatened to take them down.
– A caller reported someone was banging on the roof of the person’s motor vehicle at the corner of East Lincoln Way and Jackson Street at 11:19 p.m. Saturday. Police found all of the windows were broken and located Cameron Hurst sitting inside. Hurst, 22, of East Liverpool, had an odor of alcohol about him and was cited for being in control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then given a ride by police to a friend’s home on state Route 154.
– County courthouse security officer Alan Shaffer asked police to administer a breathalyzer test on a woman who entered the courthouse on Thursday and who Shaffer detained because he believed she was drunk. Police administered the test and there was no indication she had been drinking.
– A caller reported at 10:09 p.m. Thursday a man was pacing back and forth in front of the house on West Washington Street that had caught fire the week before. It turned out it was a neighbor and everything was fine.

PERRY TWP.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:48 a.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Garfield Road, where police found the driver was at a residence pouring concrete. The owner of the residence was present.
– Police responded at 9:46 p.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of Andrew Avenue for a report of threats after a third party caller said a female had made comments to shoot her husband. No further information could be gathered and no evidence of such a threat was observed. The husband was transported to a different location for the night.
– A township officer was asked at 8:23 p.m. Sunday to assist Salem Police by making contact with a person from the 1100 block of West Perry Street regarding a hit/skip that occurred in Salem. Police were unable to make contact with the person.
– Ryan Smith, of the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at 7:56 p.m. Sunday that sometime on Wednesday, an unknown person or persons entered a front window and took a few jars of change.
– Police were contacted at 6:49 p.m. Sunday to check on a male resident in the 400 block of Plymouth Place after his mother was unable to reach him via telephone throughout the day. He told police he had been out of town for the day and did not have service on his cell phone.
– A township officer responded to Depot Road at 6:39 p.m. Sunday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in locating and escorting a vehicle transporting a gunshot victim to Salem Regional Medical Center. The vehicle passed police in the northbound lane and the officer was unable to catch up to the vehicle due to its high speed. A Salem Police unit was able to locate and escort the vehicle to the hospital.
– No citation was issued after a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Alexandria Pino Hernandez failed to stop in an assured clear distance ahead, running into the back of a vehicle driven by Dennis Bungard, 54, who was eastbound on U.S. Route 62 turning north onto Country Club Lane at 5:03 p.m. Sunday. The report described damages as minimal and Hernandez was told she was responsible.
– Brad Martin, of the 1400 block of Depot Road, reported at 12:18 p.m. Sunday that sometime overnight someone vandalized vehicles and a trampoline at the residence.
– Police were called at 1:52 a.m. Sunday to the 1800 block of Newgarden Avenue for a reported ATV in the roadway, stopping a female juvenile on a riding lawn mower. After a brief investigation, an officer charged the female juvenile for operating a vehicle under the influence. She was released to a relative after being processed. Charges are pending on the relative for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Another report regarding the incident noted the female juvenile attempted to put the mower in neutral when pulled over but put the mower in reverse and backed into the township police cruiser, causing very minor damage.
– No citation was issued after a two-vehicle accident at 7:37 p.m. Saturday on state Route 9 at state Route 45 when a vehicle driven by Shonte Pipkin, 19, ran into the back of a vehicle driven by Charles Batson, 55. The report said no citation was issued due to minimal damages, but Pipkin was advised she was responsible.
– Gunshots were reported at 2:43 p.m. Saturday in the area of Allen Road and state Route 14 by a resident on Countryside Drive. Officers checked the area, but did not find anyone shooting. The caller was advised that target shooting is permitted outside the city limits if done in a safe manner and not towards residences.
SALEM
– A woman in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue contacted police at 2:58 p.m. Monday to report she caught her 13-year-old daughter looking up pornography on her tablet. She wanted to speak with an officer about the situation. She was told her options.
– An officer was flagged down at 2:45 p.m. Monday by the Columbiana County Dog Warden in the 1200 block of East Third Street regarding an abandoned dog in a residence. She was told the homeowner had moved and left the dog there. A contact number for the resident was given to the dog warden so contact could be made.
– A dog was reported in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot at 1:33 p.m. Monday. The owner was contacted in the store and said he was only inside a few minutes and was leaving.
– A woman advised at 12:52 p.m. Monday that her mother-in-law is in an assisted living facility and asked her to go to her apartment on Vine Avenue to retrieve some items she needed. While she was there, another relative arrived and made threats to her for being there. She wanted a report on file.
– A resident in the 600 block of East 12th Street called police at 9:12 a.m. Monday for a nuisance trash report, saying the next door neighbor’s trash was scattered onto her property. The trash was placed outside for pick up without a trash container. The neighbor was told about the complaint and said he would clean up the trash. He was advised of the city ordinance requiring a trash container.
– An alarm was reported at 6:10 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of East State Street. The building was secure.
– A reckless operator was reported in the area of Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., at 1:18 a.m. Monday. The driver was contacted and told police he was hurrying due to being afraid he would run out of gas.
– A man reported at 12:24 a.m. Monday that someone stole his cell phone while he was at work in the city.
– A prowler was reported at 12:21 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Two males had been seen walking around vehicles in driveways and houses in the area with flashlights. A resident yelled at them and they left on foot. Nobody was located during a search of the area.
– A caller at 8:41 p.m. Sunday reported a male possibly trespassing on a property in the 200 to 300 block of Ohio Avenue. Officers planned to follow up with the property owner.
– A vehicle owner reported at 8:27 p.m. Sunday that several items were taken from his vehicle in the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
– Debra Stamp, of North Union Avenue, reported at 8:06 p.m. Sunday that she was in the drive-thru at Wendy’s on East State Street when the vehicle behind her decided to get out of line, struck her rear bumper and left. The registration came back to a resident in Perry Township.
– An alarm was reported at a business in the 400 block of East State Street at 7:44 p.m. Sunday. The exterior was found secure.
– Police went to the emergency room at Salem Regional Medical Center at 7:12 p.m. Sunday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with an incident that occurred earlier in the day. A deputy was speaking with family members of the injured person. An officer had seen a vehicle earlier at 6:33 p.m. commit several driving violations and had been advised that a man was driving a friend to the hospital from state Route 45 and Depot Road with life-threatening injuries. The officer followed the vehicle to the hospital and the driver got out to get emergency personnel to help his friend who had allegedly inflicted injuries upon himself. He wanted to get him to the hospital as soon as possible. The incident occurred in the sheriff’s jurisdiction.
– Police were called at 7 p.m. Sunday to the 300 block of West State Street for a female reporting she was being held hostage at a place of business. Employees of the business told officers no one matching the female’s description had been there. The caller was able to be located, through the phone number, at a nursing home outside of the city. Nursing home employees were advised of the incident.
– An officer at 5:49 p.m. Sunday responded to the 100 block of West Pershing Street to assist Perry Township Police with a follow-up investigation regarding telecommunications harassment.
– A woman on South Howard Avenue reported telecommunications harassment at 5:16 p.m. Sunday, saying several people she doesn’t know keep texting her and she’s told them to stop several times. Officers attempted to call the phone number provided but the phone wasn’t working. Later she said she knew one of the people. An officer attempted contact but no one was home.
– Police responded to Walmart on East State Street at 3:49 p.m. Sunday for a report of a female accompanied by a male possibly wanted on an active arrest warrant. The female was reported away from the male and had called police because she did not feel safe. She was with the store manager when police arrived. The male had apparently seen the police cars and fled in his vehicle. The vehicle was not found.
– A domestic between a mother and son was reported at 1:49 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of West Perry Street. The mother said the son ran out of medication for autism and they had an argument. The father was the caller and said he was coming from Wellsville to pick up the juvenile. Mother and son were able to calm down and both said they would be fine. The father was told he could pick him up later in the evening.
– Open burning was reported at 1:43 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The fire department was on scene and handled the complaint.
– A caller at 12:29 p.m. Sunday reported a dog left inside a residence in the 1200 block of East Third Street. Prior residents had moved out and the dog was still there, barking and howling enough to concern neighbors. An officer observed the dog through the back door and it appeared in good health and there was a large bowl filled with water. The dog’s owner was contacted and said he has been checking on the dog daily and was making arrangements to get the dog out.
– An open door was reported at a posted vacant property in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:08 a.m. Sunday. The residence was checked and nothing was out of order. An officer secured the door.
– Andrew Bauman, 29, of Canterbury Lane, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after an accident at 7:56 a.m. Sunday on Ridgewood. Bauman was driving his car eastbound when his dog jumped on his arm, causing him to swerve and strike a parked pickup owned by Charles Cope of Columbiana. Bauman’s passenger, 7-year-old Alyssa Bauman, of the same address, was transported by EMT Ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– An officer responded to a 10000 block Duck Creek Road home at 11:08 p.m. Thursday in reference to a possible suicidal juvenile. The juvenile and her mother both said the teen’s ex-boyfriend had probably called Beaver Township police following a series of disputes after their break up and that she was fine.
– An officer responded to a 13000 block state Route 165 home at 3:30 p.m. Friday where the resident reported her juvenile granddaughter was not listening to her. The officer spoke with the granddaughter about her actions.
– An officer responded to a Fifth Street, Beloit, home at 4:34 p.m. Friday where a resident reported her landlord had pulled an electric box from the wall. She was advised it was a civil matter.
– A patrolling officer at 7 p.m. Friday observed a tree in the roadway on Roller Road between Washingtonville and Lisbon roads. The officer stood by until the Green Township Fire Department cleared the road.
– Melissa A. Woolf, 31, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for no license plate light at state routes 45 and 165 at 1:05 a.m. Saturday.
– An officer responded to the Evangeline Lutheran Church Cemetery on West South Range Road at 9:48 p.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The officer did not observe any vehicles, nor evidence a vehicle had been in the parking lot.
– An officer assisted Smith Township police with a domestic fight at an Ellett Road home at 1:32 p.m. Sunday.
– An officer responded to a West Middletown Road home at 8:48 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported a raccoon on the property that did not appear to be acting normal. The officer determined it appeared to be young and confused and referred the resident to a trapper.
– An officer provided the make and model of a vehicle parked in the driveway of an Oakwood Drive, Beloit, resident who is a suspect in an Alliance police investigation at 12:30 a.m. Monday.
COLUMBIANA
– Nicholas Premozich, Lower Elkton Road, reported at 12:25 a.m. Saturday a man was possibly working on his car.
– A man reported at 1 a.m. Saturday there was possible prostitution in progress at the Circle K gas station. Police checked and found nothing illegal going on, and that a clerk was just waiting on a customer.
– Corrina Smith reported at 7:36 a.m. Saturday there was a possible road rage or traffic accident on state Route 46. No other information was available.
– Molly Davis reported at 8:14 a.m. Saturday she believed someone had set a van on fire in the Nazarene Church parking lot and that the vehicle did not have any license plates. Police checked and found the van was not on fire at the time, but are continuing to investigate.
– The county sheriff’s office reported at 4:55 a.m. Sunday there was an alarm drop at Four Wheel Drive in the city. Police checked and found an open window but no one inside the building.
– Melanie Scott, 37, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Vine Street at 9:19 a.m. Sunday.
– AAA reported at 9:20 a.m. Sunday someone was using the company’s dumpster for illegal dumping.
– A man reported at 12:18 p.m. Sunday there were odors coming from a South Middle Street home. Police warned the resident of the complaint.
– A man reported at 7:51 p.m. Sunday there was a group of men yelling loudly and swearing in front of the Shellabella’s restaurant on South Main Street. Police checked but did not see anyone yelling.
– A man reported at 9:31 p.m. Sunday there was a dispute between four men at the Marathon gas station. Police learned that the man who reported the dispute had allegedly tossed a cigarette into someone else’s car. Police told the men to act like adults and go their separate ways.
– Bobby White, West Park Avenue, reported at 9:42 p.m. Sunday he returned home from work to find his door kicked in and the locks broken and his TV and Xbox missing.
– Police are still investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Camelot Drive at 10 p.m. Sunday.
– Police are still investigating a report made by Darla Sattarelle, Camelot Drive, at 10:14 p.m. Sunday that a man knocked on her door and when she looked through the peep hole she could see him engaged in a sexual activity with himself. Sattarelle reported the man then ran down the stairs to the neighbor’s door and continued the sexual act, and then left in a silver truck. The woman believed the truck was the same one involved in a crash on Camelot Drive.
LISBON
– Theft charges were filed Monday against Jerry L. Malone II, 36, of Canton, after he reportedly shoplifted a snack cake and bottle of soda pop from Smith Oil on July 21 by trying to conceal it under his coat.
– Theft charges were filed Monday against Lisa A. Keener, 42, state Route 170, East Liverpool, after she reportedly stole cigarettes and chewing tobacco totaling $266 from the Circle K on July 22. Keener was stopped in the parking lot and returned the items after being told to do so. The same day Keener also stole cigarettes and tobacco totaling $277 from the Valley View gas station.

Salem reports
– Police responded to a dispute in the 100 block of E. 5th Street at 12:25 a.m. Sunday where the complainant advised a man down the street was yelling at him. An officer spoke to the person and advised him to stay home and not go back to the area.
– At 2:38 a.m. Sunday, police on station assisted Perry Township police with an OVI arrest after the breath test was over the legal limit.
– At 3:12 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the police station to assist the Goshen police with an OVI breath test. The person was unresponsive due to his state of intoxication and was taken to the hospital. Later, after the person was released and given the test at the station. He was over the limit and issued citations by the Goshen police.
– At 3:05 a.m. Sunday, police responded to Romine Street and Newgarden Avenue to assist Perry Township police. They were clearing the scene when officers arrived.
– At 10:35 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1400 block of E. State Street regarding a barking dog and drove through the area several times and were unable to heard anything.
– Police responded to Orchard and Olive streets at 9:57 p.m. Saturday for a report of a bike lying on the curb and brought it to the police station.
– Police responded to the 400 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 9:41 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised a band performing outside was making excessive noise. He was advised it was in an area that was zoned general commercial and heavy industrial and it was legally OK to have outdoor music. The complainant was advised his complaint should be directed to the law director for a written legal opinion.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 8:03 p.m. Saturday where the complainant said a known female was making persistent harassing phone calls. Information was gathered and an attempt will be made to locate the suspect.
– Police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 7:51 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised he had confronted a person known to him about carrying a gun and the person handed him the gun and left. An officer took possession of of the firearm and brought it to the station for safekeeping.
– At 7:22 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue where the complainant advised his 16-year-old nephew was possibly doing drugs and wanted to know what rights he had as his guardian. He was advised he could file unruly charges and he added he was having problems with the person entering his residence without his permission.
– At 6:25 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1200 block of Maple Street and assisted the Columbiana County sheriff in making contact with several persons who were not located.
