SALEM

— Dakota Barber, 21, of 33796 Burtview Drive, was taken into custody on an active warrant for failure to appear on falsification charges and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for a person to be removed. The person was located standing in the hallway of the apartment complex and identified as Barber, who had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. During a search incident to arrest, officers located drug paraphernalia on him. He was processed and taken to the jail.

— Police were called at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday to Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., for a person to be removed. Store employees said a male would not leave the property after being asked several times to leave. He was sent on his way by officers and told that he is criminally trespassed from the business, meaning he’s not permitted there.

— A woman reported at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday that her juvenile daughter and an adult male engaged in sexual conduct. The incident is under investigation.

— A complaint of reckless operation in the area of East Third Street and Roosevelt Avenue was reported at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. A man said someone revved the engine of a vehicle, waking him out of bed. Police were unable to locate any loud vehicles.

— Officers responded at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday for a public assist in the 600 block of Cherry Street where a woman requested police search her elderly mother’s vehicle due to her son, who has been involved in narcotics, recently having possession of the vehicle. Officers conducted a consented search of the vehicle and located multiple items of contraband which included an unknown brown powder substance and a hypodermic needle with a clear unknown liquid inside. The items were seized and taken back to the police department where they were secured for destruction.

— Police were called at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday to Sparkle Market, 423 S. Lundy Ave., for a shoplifter. A store employee said the suspect got into a vehicle and was leaving the parking lot. An officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the suspect, learning that the item the person had was put back before exiting the store. Officers checked the person’s belongings and did not locate the item thought to have been taken. The person was sent on her way.

— Police responded to the area of Taco Bell on East State Street at 5:24 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a female in a hospital gown who left the hospital before being released. Officers located the female and transported her back to the hospital so she could receive further treatment.

— A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday that an unknown person pumped $30 worth of gas and left without paying. The report said it appeared the person was trying to use a credit/debit card but was unsure. The vehicle was not found.

— A dog was reported at large in the 2000 block of Oak Street at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday. Police found the dog and checked the tags for the owner information. The dog was taken to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard where it resides and a female said her parents own the dog. She was told to make sure the dog stays contained to the property.

— Police were called at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of a male in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue. Police did not make contact but there was evidence that he had recently been at the residence and had since left.

— A well-being check was requested at 10:29 a.m. Tuesday for a female in the 2100 block of Monroe. She told police she was fine.

— A caller at 9:46 a.m. Tuesday reported a vehicle parked in front of the mail boxes on Cedar Ridge, blocking them. The vehicle left before police arrived, however, officers found two other vehicles parked along the south side of the street in violation due to not being parked parallel and being more than 12 inches from the curb. Parking tickets were issued to both vehicles.

— Officers responded to the KSU City Center, 230 N. Lincoln Ave., at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a dog inside the building. Officers caught the dog and were able to locate the owner and return the dog home.

— A traffic signal malfunction was reported at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday at West State Street and Benton Road. A semi truck driver on Benton Road stopped for the signal and said he had been waiting a long time for the signal to change. Traffic was directed through the intersection and the intersection was monitored with no observations of a malfunctioning signal.

LEETONIA

— An officer responded to a report of a tire in the roadway on Butcher Road just before the school at 7 a.m. Feb. 28. The officer removed the tire from the roadway.

— An officer responded to an alarm drop at a 300 block Columbia Street at 7:41 a.m. Saturday but found the perimeter secure. The keyholder arrived and checked the inside of business, finding everything secure.

— An officer responded to the area of Walnut and Main street at 7:56 a.m. Saturday in reference to a possible overdose in which a driver was slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. The officer spoke with the driver who said that he had just gotten off work and fallen asleep.

EAST PALESTINE

— Jade Waite, 19, West North Avenue, was backing from a driveway at 3:41 p.m. Tuesday and struck a vehicle parked along the street and owned by Joshua Rankin, West North Avenue. Waite was cited with improper backing.

— Rhonda L. Nicol, 59, Enon Valley, Pa., stopped a stop sign at the intersection of North Liberty and East Main Streets. Distracted by another vehicle, she pulled onto East Main Street and into the path of Frank Ganoe, 50, Latta Road. No injuries were reported. Nicol was cited with failure to yield from the stop sign.

— An overdose was reported at an East Grant Street home at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday. Police and EMS found the man was deceased.

— A manager at Circle K reported at 7:16 a.m. Monday a man had been hanging around the store for several hours. Police warned Michael Mick loitering is not permitted at the business and he left without any issues.

— A fight was reported at 10:04 p.m. Monday at a West Main Street address. Police spoke to the people involved, who all told them it was only an argument and no one wanted to pursue the matter further.

— James Cozza, East Clark Street, reported at 10:47 a.m. Monday someone stole his trash can sometime the middle of the last week.

— Firestone Health Care reported at 9:54 a.m. Monday a physician at the business, Kristin Essad, has a civil protection order against a woman, who just called the business asking about her. The woman Debra Lee Gray, 59, Ottawa Trail, Negley, was identified by the caller ID and the sound of her voice. Gray was charged with violating a protection order.
