Sheriff’s Office
— Columbia Gas called at 6:13 p.m. Thursday to request a welfare check on an employee, East Lake Road, Hanover Township, due to a motion alert on his company vehicle and being unable to make contact with him. A deputy spoke with a family member who said he wasn’t at the residence, but they would contact him and said this was an ongoing problem with his company vehicle.
— A woman from Waterford Road, Unity Township, reported at 4:20 p.m. Thursday that she received a call allegedly from Walgreens that her debit card was charged and she needed to send a picture of her driver’s license. It was a fraud call.
— A man on Pancake Clarkson Road, Middleton Township reported at 3:12 p.m. Thursday that he received several phone calls from an unknown person threatening him.
— A deputy was dispatched at 11:04 p.m. Wednesday to Burtzland Outfitters, South Mahoning Avenue, Knox Township, for a loud bang at the gun range. The deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anything.
— A woman on Lowmiller Road, West Township reported at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday that a red Chevy Avalanche truck was driving up and down the road, then stopped and the people let a black dog out of the truck, saw the woman and got the dog back into the truck and left. A deputy checked the area but didn’t find anyone.
— A woman on County Airport Road, Madison Township reported at 7:09 p.m. Wednesday that someone stole her chalice from her garden on the property.
— A woman on Depot Street, Rogers reported at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday that her 10-year-old daughter was being disrespectful to her.
— A trustee for Damascus Park, Georgetown Damascus Road, Butler Township, reported at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday that a woman was living in a vehicle in the parking lot. A deputy made contact with the woman and she was advised of the complaint and the park hours, with the park being closed from dusk to dawn. She said she would leave the property.
— A man on Lisbon Road, Center Township reported at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday that he has a court order against him and can’t go back to his residence to get his clothes where a woman is living. He was advised to contact an attorney or the courts.
— A deputy was dispatched at 9:06 p.m. Tuesday to Maple Street, Lisbon to assist Lisbon Police with people fighting and with firearms present. Terry W. McDaniel, 29, Salem Alliance Road, Butler Township, was charged with assault and strangulation. Michael R. McDaniel, 40, Alliance Sebring Road, Alliance, was charged with aggravated menacing. Lisbon Police transported both of them to the county jail. According to Columbiana County Municipal Court records, Terry will face a preliminary/pretrial hearing April 29 for the felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly punching another man in the face with a closed fist and placing him in a chokehold, causing him to struggle to breathe and speak. Michael will face a pretrial April 29 for a misdemeanor charge for allegedly pointing a firearm at two women after the fight ended between two men.
— A deputy was dispatched at 5:31 p.m. April 18 to Plymouth Street, Hanoverton for a protection order violation. A warrant was issued to a Hanoverton man for the violation.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West School Street at 1:25 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man was sitting on someone’s front porch. Officers located the man, who advised that he was sitting on the steps of a residence making a phone call.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Street at 11:40 p.m. Friday for a reported fight. The caller advised that two men from a nearby bar were fighting in his front yard. Officers located two men walking in the area and stopped them. During the investigation one of the men, Justin Larkins, 26, Lisbon, refused to provide satisfactory proof of identity and was taken into custody charged with obstructing official business and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 11:30 p.m. Friday for a report of threats. The caller advised their ex-boyfriend had threatened her over the phone. After speaking with the ex, it was determined that no threats were made, but he was violating a no contact order. She was given her options for handling the situation.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 6:15 p.m. Friday for a reported sick raccoon. The raccoon was located, dispatched in a safe location, and removed from the area.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a person was on the phone and not making any sense. Officers stood by until EMT arrived and transported them to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 3:38 p.m. Friday for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers checked the location and possible destination but were unable to locate the juvenile. The juvenile was entered in NCIC as a runaway.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 3:52 p.m. Friday for a reported fight outside of a business. Two women had been involved in an altercation but only one had remained on scene and advised that the other began insulting her and she had poured a beverage on their vehicle in response. This prompted the other woman to physically attack her. The woman had visible scratches and torn clothing but did not want to pursue the matter and just wanted the incident documented. Another witness on scene and offered a similar account of the incident.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:50 p.m. Friday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised that a dog had been left in a vehicle for 30 minutes and that the windows were barely down. The vehicle in question was gone prior to their arrival.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Prospect Street at 12:18 p.m. Friday regarding an incident with her juvenile son. The female advised a neighbor followed her son on the way to school while riding his bicycle. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who denied the allegation and stated their son has been having issues with the caller’s son. Officers advised both to keep the juveniles away from each other.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:56 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with a person who advised that they are part of the construction crew building the new school and were trying to get out of the sun and relax.
— The school resource officer was advised by school administrators of suspicious marks on a student’s arm at 10:47 a.m. Friday. The officer spoke with the student who advised them of an incident with his mother at his house before school. After a brief investigation including speaking with the parents and watching video of the incident it was determined the event had occurred as the student described and nothing else was needed at that time.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 8:45 a.m. Friday to assist the fire department and EMT with a medical call. Officers stood by with medical units, and the patient was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.
Perry Township
— Officers located a vehicle stopped in the 1400 block of Depot Road at 2:43 a.m. April 19, and found the driver Jacob Fullerton, 25, Sebring, asleep behind the wheel. Fullerton was found to be operating a vehicle impaired and was charged with OVI, obstruction of official business, and open container.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Beechwood Road at 5:32 p.m. April 18 for a reported property dispute. Officers advised them that the dispute was civil in nature, and they would need to go to small claims court for the property. The owner of the property also requested the female half be trespassed from the property and officer advised them that if they returned to the property, they would be charged.
— Officers were flagged down at the Salem Golf Club at 8:54 p.m. April 17 for a reported road rage incident. The caller advised that during the incident the other driver had pointed what he believed to be a gun at him. The caller provided a license plate number, but it did not match the description given. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road at 7:39 p.m. April 17 for a report of a possible domestic. Officers spoke with both parties and who advised they were arguing but that nothing physical had occurred.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 at 6:33 p.m. April 16 for a report that a shed fell off a trailer and is creating a road hazard. The caller did not provide any additional information. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate it and information was passed on to the Goshen Police Department.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 6:30 p.m. April 16 that advised their identity had been stolen. They advised that they had already contacted their bank, phone company, and credit card companies. He has also been monitoring his credit reports, and he was advised that a report would be on file.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 5 p.m. April 16 for a report of a dilapidated building that was collapsing after a storm. The house in question has been documented, reported, and taped off, and zoning is aware of the situation.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Springdale Street at 6:55 a.m. April 16 for a reported missing juvenile. Officers found that the juvenile was located by employees at Salem Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, and had the caller respond to the dealership and pick her up.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Benton Road with the fire department at 3:08 p.m. April 15 for a report of low-hanging power lines. Officers and the fire department stood by for traffic control until Ohio Edison arrived and removed the lines.
— Officers spoke with a person by phone at 11:38 a.m. April 15 about a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that the neighbors are riding ATVs onto his property and other neighboring properties.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 2:49 p.m. April 14 for a reported motor vehicle accident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was contacted to take over the crash scene, and officers assisted medical personnel and OSHP until they were no longer needed.
— Cynthia Close, 69, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after their eastbound vehicle on Snyder Road struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Aree Dufresne, 71, Salem, at 7:14 a.m. April 14.
Leetonia
— An officer was advised at 9:52 p.m. Monday that an anonymous caller reported people would attempt to break into the Tipsy Cow between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. An officer patrolled the area without incident.
— An officer responded to Wick Park at 6:40 p.m. Sunday in reference to two juveniles harassing other children. Both juveniles were advised to the leave the are and keep their hands to themselves.
— Officers responded to the first block of Madison Street at 10:05 p.m. April 18 in reference to open patio gate doors. Officers found the building door in the patio area had damage to the door handle, which appeared to have been struck multiple times in an attempt to gain access. The door also had multiple strike marks presumably from a blunt force object.
Columbiana
— Henry E. Beal, no age or address listed, was cited for reasonable control after crashing into the circle on North Main Street. No injuries were reported.
— Marcia McMannis, no age or address listed, was cited for open burning after officers responded to the first block of Albright Avenue at 4:41 p.m. April 12 in reference to an open burning complaint.
— Dallas Navarro, 27, Columbiana, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 9:38 a.m. April 11.
— Edward Yurkovich, 53, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 164 at 5:35 p.m. April 10.
— Christian D. Figueroa, 24, Boardman, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the parking lot of 1100 Village Plaza at 5:58 a.m. April 9.
— Apryl Essary, 33, Follansbee, W.Va., was charged with theft and obstructing following an incident at an East State Route 14 business at 12:17 a.m. April 8.
— Priscilla McCullough, 38, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension and expired registration following a traffic stop near state routes 14 and 46 at 11:07 p.m. April 7.
— Tyler L. Cox, 23, Lisbon, was cited for speeding and driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Southern Terrace Drive at 3:43 p.m. April 7.
— A caller reported at 11:01 a.m. April 6 possible child abuse. The report was forwarded to the Springfield Township Police Department in Mahoning County.
