Schonauer tosses no-hitter as United trips up Leetonia
LEETONIA — United’s baseball team managed to beat the storms and Leetonia on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles got a no-hitter by Kadin Schonauer with seven strikeouts and two walks in the 8-0 five-inning win for United.
United was led by Parker Newburn’s two doubles and a single. Quentin Taylor had a double, two singles and three RBIs.
United is 6-3 and 3-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
United is at Lisbon on Friday.

Wellsville at Lisbon
LISBON — Lisbon’s baseball team was winning 5-3 over Wellsville in the top of the third inning when the game was paused due to lightning on Wednesday.
The game was halted around 6 p.m.
Devin Kelly and Carter Oliver had hits for the Devils.
Southern at Columbiana
COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s baseball team had an 11-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the first against Southern on Wednesday when that game was halted due to lightning in the area.
The game was halted around 6 p.m. with the game getting started at 5:20 p.m. due to Southern arriving late.
Alex Eusebio had a double and two RBIs for the Clippers.
Carrollton at Salem
SALEM — Carrollton held a 5-0 lead over Salem with no outs in the top of the fourth before a storm rolled in and halted the game.
Carrollton scored four times in the first against Salem starter Lance Bailey.
Colin Riesen had Salem’s lone hit.
West Branch at Alliance
ALLIANCE — Alliance held a 3-2 lead over West Branch with one out in the top of the third on Wednesday before strong storms moved into the area causing the game to be put on pause.
West Branch, ranked second in the state in the Div. II state coaches’ poll, was beaten by Alliance in the two team’s first meeting.
Alliance scored three runs in the first off Warrior starter Anthony Perry.
Perry had a double and single with two RBIs on the offensive end.
West Branch is 10-2 and 4-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Alliance is 7-3 and 3-1 in the league.
The game will be resumed today.
Crestview at Springfield
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Crestview will have to wait to extend its perfect mark.
The Rebels were leading Springfield 4-3 with no outs in the bottom of the third when severe storms halted the game on Wednesday.
Braden Devine had two hits for the Rebels, 8-0.

Youngstown East 5
LEETONIA — Leetonia bested Youngstown East 8-5 on Tuesday.
Ryan Bulford got the win with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. CJ Faulkner got the save.
Gabe Evans went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs. Evan Rosko had a hit with two runs scored.

Leetonia at United
HANOVERTON — United’s softball team held a 14-0 lead over Leetonia with two outs in the bottom of the second inning on Wednesday before the game was halted due to a tornado warning in Columbiana County.
Mati Zines had three hits and an RBI for the Eagles. Sam Lippiatt, Chloe Angelo, Grace Coffee, and Madelynn Lucas had two hits each.
Leetonia had yet to have a hit.
East 12, Leetonia 10
LEETONIA — Youngstown East downed Leetonia 12-10 on Tuesday.
Breyle Merritt led the Bears with three hits and two RBIs. Carli Simms had a single and double with an RBI.
Maddison Farrant took the loss with nine strikeouts and eight walks in the complete game effort.
