SALEM REPORTS
— A man from South Lundy Avenue came to the police station at 2:31 a.m. Saturday to report having issues with his girlfriend’s two juvenile daughters acting inappropriate. He said he’ll be contacting their case worker Monday.
— A caller at 1:40 a.m. Saturday reported a suspicious vehicle and possible impaired driver in a parking lot in the 800 block of West Pershing Street. Officers spoke with the passenger and driver and a field sobriety test was performed on the driver, who did not appear to be intoxicated. The driver gave permission for a vehicle search, but nothing was found.
— A fight was reported at 1:02 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue near a bar. When officers arrived, several people entered the business, but people outside said there was an argument with nothing physical. No one inside the business would cooperate.
— A driver in the area of Georgetown Road and Prospect Street received a verbal warning for inadequate exhaust after a traffic stop at 12:25 a.m. Saturday for an equipment violation. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle, with probable cause used to search the vehicle, but nothing of significance was found.
— Loud persons were reported at 11:07 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street, where people said they would keep the noise down. While there, an officer issued a parking ticket for a vehicle parked with the left side to the curb.
— Joshua Gatewood, 27, of Cleveland Street, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 9:42 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West State Street. A K-9 indicated to a narcotic odor. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
— An anonymous caller at 7:49 p.m. Friday reported an intoxicated female in the 900 block of Prospect Street exposing herself and breaking windows. Police found her in the driveway highly intoxicated and she refused to cooperate, leading to her arrest. She started to become belligerent and was taken directly to the Columbiana County jail. Sonya Phillips, 47, of 992 Prospect St., was charged with disorderly conduct.
— Police were dispatched at 7:25 p.m. Friday to the area of Dodge Drive and West Pershing Street for an aggressive animal at large. Police did not find the dog or the person who called.
— A man from East Fourth Street reported at 7:21 p.m. Friday at Taco Bell, 1872 E. State St., that he and an unidentified person got into a verbal dispute. Police were unsuccessful in contacting the other party and told the man to call police if anything further happens.
— While on patrol in the 400 block of West Wilson Street, an officer at 6:38 p.m. Friday saw a green truck parked at a closed business and knew the vehicle as associated with a person who had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Police made contact with a male and female who said the wanted person had just left. Police secured verbal consent to search the vehicle and the female told them she had syringes in her purse. During the search, officers located several drug paraphernalia items in the vehicle and her purse. A cigarette pack was found on the center console with suspected narcotics inside. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody and taken to the Columbiana County jail, with further charges pending lab results. Tracy Sarchione, 40, of 603 E. Market St., Alliance, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia/possession of drug abuse instruments. Paul Barnett, 52, of 18129 Fifth Street, Beloit, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
— Officers were called at 6:23 p.m. Friday to Marc’s, 2487 E. State St., for accidental damage. Noticing a shopping cart return on its side due to the inclement weather conditions. Due to strong winds, the shopping cart return was thrown into a vehicle, causing damage.
— A tree was reported down at 6:15 p.m. Friday at West Seventh Street and Sulea Drive. The tree was too large to be removed and the street department had to respond to remove the tree.
— A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported two different drive-offs between 5:13 and 5:55 p.m. Friday, with amounts totaling $20 and $25.
— Police responded at 5:20 p.m. Friday to the 500 block of East State Street for a lost dog call. The caller was able to confirm the number on the dog’s collar to allow dispatch to notify the owner. Officers stood by until the dog was retrieved.
— A woman from Yates Road reported at 4:58 p.m. Friday that she was eastbound on West Pershing Street when her front passenger side window shattered. She did not see anything thrown at the window or any suspicious activity.
— A custody dispute was reported at 4:32 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Benton Road. The person was told it’s a civil matter.
— A caller at 3:34 p.m. Friday reported a disorderly patron at a business in the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue. The person had been in the business and the male was yelling at other employees and kicked the door. The caller was told to call police if the person returns.
— Charles Ferrebee, 48, of Depot Road, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on West Ellsworth Avenue failed to stop at the red light at State Street and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Eric Ellyson, 47, of McCann Road, Kensington. No injuries were reported.
— Police were called at 11:55 a.m. Friday to Taco Bell, 1872 E. State St., for a report of counterfeit money received sometime during the night, but the person was unsure when.
COLUMBIANA REPORT
— A woman and her pastor reported an attempted assault at noon Friday that they believe may have progressed to a greater crime.
