Rulli far outdistances Dem opponent in funding for Congress race

U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli has significantly more money in his campaign account than his Democratic challenger. After contested primaries for the Democratic and Republican nominations, Rulli, R-Salem, had $284,711 in his campaign fund as of June 30. In comparison, Elizabeth Kirtley of New Philadelphia, who won the Democratic primary in the 6th District to challenge Rulli, reported $1,068 in her fund as of June 30. PERRY TOWNSHIP — Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a Perry Township residence Thursday. According to the Salem Fire Department’s report, the Salem department responded to a structure fire at 419 Benton Road at 12:50 p.m. Thursday to provide automatic aid to the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Goshen Township trustees review upcoming expenses

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees reviewed several upcoming expenses in its meeting Tuesday. Police Chief John Calko told the trustees he’d obtained quotes from three companies to potentially provide supplemental IT services to bring the township into compliance with the requirements of House Bill 96 regarding cybersecurity. LISBON — “The Columbiana County Park District” is the new official Facebook page for the county park district after several social media address changes the past several months. SALEM — The city’s annual fire hydrant flushing will begin Sunday. The utilities commission announced in its meeting Thursday that the utilities department will begin the city’s annual fire hydrant flushing at 10 p.m. Sunday. Flushing will continue through Thursday night. Following the initial period, additional flushing will continue during daytime hours over the next few weeks as permitted by weather conditions.
