Columbiana welcomes 16 new businesses in 2025

COLUMBIANA — The city welcomed 16 new businesses in 2025. City Council was given a rundown of the building and zoning annual report during the most recent council meeting. The figures provided by Deputy Administrator Bryce Miner show that growth has been positive since collaborating with Elevate on the building and zoning department. In addition to the 16 new businesses, the city registered 22 food trucks and 128 contractors as well as issuing 208 zoning permits. Local agencies receive housing grants funding

Three Northeastern Ohio nonprofit agencies serving Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties will receive $420,755 to assist residents with housing needs, the Ohio Department of Development announced Thursday. East Palestine resident charged with 4 counts of animal cruelty

LISBON — Four counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals were filed Wednesday in Columbiana County Municipal Court against an East Palestine resident who had 21 animals seized from her home due to alleged unsanitary conditions. Jennifer Albert, 38, West Main Street, is scheduled to face arraignment on the misdemeanor charges at 8:30 a.m. May 18. An affidavit said animals were found at her address on April 3 “in conditions of extreme filth, causing suffering, lack of grooming and ear mites.
