SALEM
– At 10:57 a.m. Friday, a complainant from the 400 block of East Euclid Street was on station in reference to a possible scam. A man advised he was selling a door on Craig’s list and was to send the money to an unknown person in another state. The complainant wanted a report so the incident could be investigated by the service that provided the money.
– At 3:29 p.m. Thursday, Keith A. Schenly, 21 Camelot, Columbiana, was charged with theft after allegedly shoplifting $270 in merchandise from a business in the 2800 block of East State Street He was transported to the county jail.
– At 11:18 a.m. Friday, a complainant was on station advising that on April 11 he received two checks from a woman and cashed them for her. On April 14, he went to his bank which said they had already been cashed through their phone. He was provided with a bad-check packet.
– At 6:53 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a domestic in progress and heard yelling. It was verbal only. The man was upset because he was woken up early and his girlfriend tried to take the baby out in the cold. The woman advised she was gathering belonging for the baby and leaving the residence.
– At 11:36 p.m. Thursday, a complainant was on station advising she was pushed at work by another employee and the business took care of it, but she wanted a police report on file.
– While on patrol in the 200 block of Highland Avenue at 11:13 p.m Thursday, police observed a dog appeared to have broken away from a chain. The owner took it inside.
– At 9:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the South Ellsworth Avenue and Railroad Street area regarding a man and woman engaged in sexual intercourse in the parking lot. They were located and the man was severely intoxicated and an officer gave them a voluntary transport to a residence on Summit St.
– At 8:38 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a woman said she had been harassed at work by a known person and was advised of the options.
– Police responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 7:02 p.m. Thursday for a person to be removed and the man left without incident.
– Police responded to the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where the complainant advised they received a check from an unknown source and an officer advised it was a scam.
– Police responded to the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where the complainant advised and unauthorized purchase was on an account. They were advised of the options.
– At 5:37 p.m. Thursday, a complainant was on station in reference to his daughter being stalked at her place of work and was advised of the options.
– Police responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:18 p.m. Thursday for a neighbor dispute over parking in the street. The officer advised he can park anywhere as long as the vehicle was out of his neighbor’s way and not impeding traffic.
– At 4:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue where the mother advised her juvenile daughter was being destructive in the residence. An officer spoke to her about listening to her mother and the mother was advised of the options.
COLUMBIANA
– Danielle Hiner, Spruce Street, reported Thursday someone filed an income tax return using her personal information.
-A minor traffic accident occurred at the Y on North Main Street at 11:44 a.m. Thursday, but no other details were available.
-A high school official asked police at 11:20 a.m. to be on the lookout for a student who had left school. The juvenile is from Youngstown but is in the custody of the county Children Services agency. The youth, who was not found, returned to the school by 2 p.m.
– Richard Schwartz, 1145 E. Park Ave., reported there was a burglary in progress at his residence at 11:48 p.m. Thursday. Police arrived and learned Danielle Walter had entered the home to gather her personal belongings. Schwartz declined to press charges.
POLICE REPORTS
SALEM
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 11:25 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer found the male operator was getting a left rear flat tire which was not helping his operation of the vehicle. A female passenger opened her door to see what the problem was and the tire was going flat. He was trying to get somewhere to put air in the tire. He was told to get there quickly and stay on his side of the road because people were calling and complaining. He was seen later putting air in the tire at a local station.
– A reckless operator was reported at 8:17 a.m. Thursday on North Lincoln Avenue and East Sixth Street. Police were unable to locate the vehicle at first, then dispatch advised it was at a local business. An officer spoke with the male driver of the truck and told him about the complaint.
– A man in the 600 block of East Third Street reported at 7:31 a.m. Thursday that an unknown female walked into his home and will not leave. Officers made contact with a female on the porch and were familiar with her and aware that she suffers from a mental illness. She was taken to her residence and escorted safely inside to her husband.
– Officers were dispatched at 2:39 a.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Continental Drive for a well-being check on a female. Officers made contact with the female who said she possibly needed medical attention due to falling down earlier. Swelling was observed around her eye/head area. Fire department first responders and an ambulance arrived and she was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Darrin Dustman, of the 100 block of Rose Avenue, reported at 1:31 a.m. Thursday that sometime between 3 p.m. Wednesday and the time of the report, his mountain bike was stolen from the car port at the apartment building.
– A man in the 1400 block of East State Street called at 10:47 p.m. Wednesday wanting a female removed from his home. The female was walked to her house nearby.
– Two suspicious males were reported at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near the front entry of a closed business in the 500 block of East Second Street. Officers identified two juveniles as local residents of the neighborhood. The boys were just playing in the area and officers observed no problems. They said they would head home soon.
– A barking dog was reported at 8:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Fifth Street. An area resident said it was a dog at large that seemed friendly but would not allow anyone to catch it. Residents had made several attempts to catch the dog. Officers did not find the dog, which was described as medium small, black in color, with a red and white collar.
– Police responded at 8:16 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of West Fourth Street for one to be removed. A woman wanted a female removed from her home. The female obtained a ride and left.
– A woman at the police station at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday spoke with an officer about a theft in the 500 block of East Fourth Street, saying one of her patients had some medication stolen.
– A Leetonia woman came to the station at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday to report she was at Walmart when her daughter set her phone down and forgot about it. When she returned to the store, it was gone.
– A dispute between a male and female was reported at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Seventh Street. All he wanted was his car keys back. An officer successfully obtained the keys for him.
– A caller at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday reported a white box truck hit a telephone pole in the 700 block of Prospect Street, fleeing westbound. Officers found damage to the pole and called the fire department. Ohio Edison was also asked to respond.
– Police responded to a report of dogs left in a small trailer in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday. An officer made contact with one of the owners and she said the trailer is for the dogs and the dogs are being cared for. The family is enroute to Indiana and will be leaving in the morning. The dogs had food and water and the owner said they are walked several times a day.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive where a woman said she and her boyfriend got into a verbal altercation. He had already left and she was told her options. No injuries were observed.
– An officer at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday saw two vehicles park in the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of East Sixth Street and advised the drivers of the parking ordinance. It was found that the drivers did not have licenses. Demetrio Hernandez and Francisco Hernandez were each cited for no license. A valid driver moved the vehicles to legal parking spots.
– A woman came to the station at 11:16 a.m. Wednesday to report a domestic that occurred just prior to the complaint, in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue. She said her ex knocked her off her bicycle and an altercation occurred. She wanted the incident documented.
– Officers at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday were advised a person may be living in the wooded area near Kelley Park on Prospect Street. Officers checked the area, but nobody was found.
– Police responded at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of Prospect Street for a well-being check. A woman said she was concerned her adult son may want to hurt himself. Officers spoke to the son who said he was fine. He said his mother suffers from mental illness which her daughter also stated.
PERRY TWP.
– Janice Hamm, 33, of Austintown, was cited for failure to control after an accident at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Newgarden Road. The report said Hamm lost control of the vehicle which went into a ditch and knocked over a mailbox.
– Daoud Abdul Abbadi, 19, of East 11th Street, was cited for failure to yield after the westbound vehicle he was driving attempted to turn south onto North Lincoln Avenue from 11th Street at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Charles Adams, 75, of Barclay Street, who was southbound on North Lincoln Avenue and turned east onto East 11th Street.
– Police were called at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday to Allen Road just off of Beechwood Avenue in reference to people dumping trash along the road. The caller had retrieved the owner’s information from the trash. Police spoke to a relative about the dumping problem and the relative will make contact with the nephew and advise him of the legal actions that could be taken against him. Salem Police also took a report for the trash on the city side of the road.

PERRY TWP.
– An officer on patrol at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle on private property in the area of Egypt Road and Pine Lake Road. The people were advised of the “no trespassing” signs in the area and left.
– A male juvenile driving southbound on Newgarden Road at the intersection of West Pidgeon Road at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday was cited for assured clear distance ahead as a juvenile traffic offender after striking another vehicle driven by a juvenile who was turning east onto West Pidgeon Road. No one was injured.
– A woman in the 1200 block of Somerset reported at 10:35 p.m. Monday that her foster child wasn’t following the rules of the house. Police spoke with the juvenile about following the rules.
– An officer responded at 4:24 p.m. Monday to Depot Road near East Pidgeon Road to assist an Ohio state trooper with a traffic stop. The officer cleared after the trooper was finished.
– Cheryl Bricker, 63, of Lisbon was cited for right of way at intersection after a two-vehicle accident at 3:23 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Cunningham Road and state Route 344. Bricker was southbound on Cunningham Road when she stopped at the stop sign then traveled into the intersection, causing a collision with an eastbound vehicle on state Route 344 driven by Kevin Snyder, 58, of Lisbon.
SALEM
– Officers were requested at 7:31 a.m. Wednesday to maintain traffic until a private traffic control company could respond to the area of a water break at West State and Sharp Avenue, due to heavy traffic. The water break was reported at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, with the water department contacted. As of Wednesday afternoon, a utilities department spokesman said the break of a 6-inch water main had been fixed.
– An officer on patrol at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday saw the rear bumper of a pickup truck lying on the pavement in the intersection of West State Street and Benton Road, with the license plate still attached. The area was checked for the vehicle, but it could not be found. The bumper and plate were taken to the station for safekeeping. The registered owner will be contacted.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of West 10th Street where a man said his live-in girlfriend was throwing stuff around the house and he wanted her gone. Due to her residing there, he was told officers could not make her leave. He was told the procedure for eviction and both were told to stay away from each other.
– Police investigated a complaint of criminal damaging at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Aetna Street where witness statements were not consistent with the damage discovered. An officer spoke to two suspects and eliminated them from being involved. The officer contacted the property owner and learned there was no new damage. The damage was old.
– A custody issue was discussed with a woman at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday. She was told it’s a civil matter.
– Gary Leininger, of the 600 block of Woodland Avenue, reported at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday that the rear of his vehicle was struck while parked in the Salem High School parking lot.
– An officer took a report at 6:24 p.m. Tuesday from an East Seventh Street resident regarding fraud/theft. The suspect was identified and the case will be turned over to the detective division.
– An interior alarm was reported at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday on Elm Avenue. The exterior of the building was secure and after a keyholder arrived, the interior was checked and found secure.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday at the tennis courts at Centennial Park. An officer spoke to the juveniles involved and told them about criminal charges if the behavior continues. No damage was observed at the time of the call.
– Police responded at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of East School Street for a theft report. A woman said she hired a male off of a social media page to paint her basement and she noticed a few items missing from her residence. The theft is under investigation.
– The owner moved a vehicle after a parking complaint at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday on South Union Avenue near Franklin.
– Charles Collins, of the 400 block of North Howard Avenue, reported at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday that someone shot one of the windows of his residence with a BB gun.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of West Fourth Street. A female reported that another person locked her inside the residence and assaulted her. She was told her options.
– A woman from the 200 block of West Fourth Street came to the station at 4:16 p.m. Tuesday to report an incident that occurred the day prior. She said her stepdaughter’s ex-boyfriend assaulted her. She was told her options.
– A ticket was issued at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday for a vehicle parked in front of the mailboxes and no parking sign in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge.
– A warning was placed on a vehicle for illegally parking at 1:42 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street.
– A woman from Hawley Avenue reported at 11:07 a.m. Tuesday that she has a protection order against her ex-fiance and a court order to pick up her personal items from a residence on North Ellsworth Avenue with a uniformed law enforcement officer. An officer escorted her to the residence and discovered the locks had been changed. Officers contacted the ex-fiance and he said he would be there within the hour. Later an officer accompanied the woman to the residence and she gathered her belongings. The same woman called police at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday concerned that her cards might be used by the ex without her permission. She was told to contact the companies.
– Lonnie Gilbert, who has a business in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue, reported at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday that sometime overnight someone placed a large amount of bags full of leaves in the dumpster. He wanted a report so the dumpster company doesn’t blame the business and charge them for overload.
– A juvenile was taken into custody on an active warrant at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of East Third Street and turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff’s deputy.
– A parking ticket was issued at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday on a vehicle parked in a no parking area at Franklin and Union.
– Charles Weyand Jr., 40, of 450 Aetna St., was charged with receiving stolen property and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police made contact with him over a stolen bag Tuesday. A resident in the 500 block of Bank Street reported at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday that a black canvas work bag with miscellaneous tools was taken from the front seat of his car. He was then advised by a co-worker that his bag was posted on social media for sale by a man on Aetna Street. Officers made contact with the man on Aetna Street and he admitted having the bag and gave it to police. The charge was a first-degree misdemeanor.
SALEM TWP.
– Carolyn Hart, Vincent Road, Salem, reported at 6:58 p.m. Saturday someone has damaged her fence within the past week and she believes she knows who is responsible.
– Someone reported illegal dumping on Yates Road at 7:45 p.m. Monday. After going through the garbage some names and photographs were located. The person responsible agreed to clean it up and was given only a warning.

– Police responded to a dispute at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East School Street where a woman said she and her boyfriend broke up earlier and he threatened to take their child. He did not come to the residence and she went to a friend’s house for the night. She was told her options.
– Police were called at 12:09 a.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive for a well-being check on a male. The caller at the residence said the male left and she did not know where he went, but he called saying he was fine. She was told to call the police if he returns. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate him.
– Police responded at 11:28 p.m. Monday to Salem Regional Medical Center to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol in locating a person who left the hospital. The male was located and transported back to SRMC.
– A suspicious person was reported at 10:21 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Prospect Street where a resident said a male was standing in the woods staring at him. Officers checked the woods but nobody was found.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Ohio Avenue. A female said she was gathering up her personal belongings and began arguing with the male. The male said he was allowing her to gather up her personal belongings and that no further issues would occur.
– An anonymous caller at 6:29 p.m. Monday reported a female juvenile throwing items at the ducks in the duck pond at Waterworth Memorial Park. An officer spoke with the juvenile and she said she would no longer disturb the ducks.
– An audible alarm was reported at 6:11 p.m. Monday at a closed business on Elm Avenue. The exterior of the building was secure. A keyholder responded and the interior was also checked.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 5:40 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of East Third Street where a woman said the juvenile would not listen. The juvenile told an officer he would listen to his parents.
– A woman came to the station at 4:19 p.m. Monday regarding a custody issue. She was told her options.
– An off-duty officer called in an accident at 3:26 p.m. Monday at the intersection of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road. An officer responded and checked for injuries, finding none, and called for two tow trucks. Traffic control was maintained until Perry Township Police arrived.
– A dog was reported at large at 2:35 p.m. Monday in the area of Newgarden Avenue and Arch Street, but wasn’t found. A man in the neighborhood said his dog did chase another dog out of their yard and was inside.
– An animal complaint was reported at 1:57 p.m. Monday in the Walmart parking lot for a dog in distress, but no dog was found in any of the vehicles in the area in question.
– Michael Eckstein, of the 300 block of Hickory Lane, reported at 12:32 p.m. Monday that the back window of his daughter’s car was broken out. It appeared it was shattered from the inside, with all the glass laying in the driveway.
– An alarm was reported at 12:06 p.m. Monday at a business in the 400 block of Arch Street. All doors and windows appeared secure.
– Officers at 10:10 a.m. Monday requested a resident in the 400 block of Park Avenue to clean grass and leaves off the street as soon as possible, per the street department.
COLUMBIANA
– Linda VanDyke, North Vine Street, reported at 10 a.m. Monday a company in Poland installed windows in her house back in November and she believes they are faulty. Police told her it was a civil matter.
– A South Main Street woman reported at 12:48 p.m. Monday she was possibly receiving scam phone calls.
– Police found a basement door open at the Lakefront Restaurant at 5:51 p.m. Monday and it appeared the door had been forced open and two handguns and a rifle were visible inside. Police stood by until another officer arrived to assist. The officers discovered the weapons were actually antiquated BB guns.
LISBON
– Jenna Traversa of Salem, who works for the Morning Journal, discovered her PT Cruiser windshield was egged while the vehicle was in the newspaper parking lot at 2:31 a.m. April 16.
– Someone from the Children Services agency called at 1:29 p.m. Thursday to report a 17-year-old boy had run away from them, and the youth was later found by police on North Market Street near Prospect Street. The boy was then taken to county juvenile court for violating his probation.
– A loud music complaint was received on Moore Street at 11:37 p.m. Sunday. Police went the apartment complex and could hear music. Police went to apartment D and told the tenant to turn down the volume, which he agreed to do.
– Fred Carlisle, East Lincoln Way, reported Monday someone is cutting through his landscaping to read his neighbor’s gas meter, pushing over his edging and causing rocks to spill into his yard. Carlisle hung a sign telling them to stay out but the sign was taken down and two of his plants were smashed. Police said they would contact the gas company and tell them the meter reader needs to walk around to the other side of the neighbor’s house.
– Connie Wilson of Lisbon reported Monday her phone was taken while she was at Shenanigan’s Pub over the weekend.
– Daniel Lydic called at 11:53 p.m. April 15 to say he was concerned about his mother, who was with a man who went to prison for domestic violence and they were at the Steel Trolley Diner now. Lydic said there was a restraining order against the man from 10 years ago, but police determined it must have expired. Police then went to the diner but neither person were there.
– Eric Frenzel called at 1:30 a.m. Monday about a fight at Shenanigan’s Pub, but no one was around and the doors were locked when police arrived. The owners then came outside and reported they closed at midnight and were cleaning up.
– A caller reported a motorist driving in an erratic manner through town at 10:40 p.m. Sunday. Police stopped Glenn Mays, who contacted his son to come get him.
– Youngstown police called at 7:41 p.m. Sunday looking for a vehicle possibly involved in a hit/skip accident that occurred in its jurisdiction. This led police to a home on East Washington Street, where they found a red Escape with front-end damage parked close to a fence.
– Jennifer Libert reported at 4:39 p.m. Sunday that Scott Rudder was violating a protection order by being at an apartment on North Market Street. Rudder said he was there to collect his belongings so he could spend the night elsewhere. Corey Libert said this was fine as longer as Rudder did not bother them.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– An officer responded to the 13000 block of U.S. Route 62 in Damascus at 7:55 a.m. April 18 in reference to low hanging wires and found a low lying telephone wire that a truck had apparently struck, breaking the wire and the pole to which it was attached. The officer with the help of a few citizens cleared the roadway of any debris.
– A Damascus resident reported at 10:26 a.m. April 18 that he believed he was being stalked by a group of individuals due to recent custody issues.
– An officer responded to West Branch Middle School at 9:46 a.m. April 19 in reference to an irate phone call by a parent of a suspended student who was upset about how the school was handling the student’s punishment.
– An officer responded to West Branch High School at 11:09 a.m. April 19 where the guidance counselor requested an officer speak to a student in reference to comments the student made to her.
– An officer responded to a 12000 block Goshen Road home at 11:43 a.m. April 19 in reference to a theft, collecting a list of items that had been removed.
– An officer attending the Green Township trustees meeting April 19 had to remove a male visitor for being disruptive at 7:03 p.m.
– An officer responded to the area of state Route 165 near Main Street in Green Township at 10:34 a.m. April 20 in reference to a possible erratic driver. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that Boardman police had stopped the driver earlier and issued a warning, but believed he was heading to a hospital. Green Township first responders transported the driver to an area hospital.
– Gregory Greasel, 55, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 165 near Diagonal Road at 8:22 a.m. April 21.
– An officer responded to an Oakwood Drive, Beloit, home at 4:57 p.m. April 21 in reference to an identity theft report.
– An officer assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office serve a warrant at a 10000 block Pine Lake Road home at 9 p.m. April 21.
– An officer responded to U.S. Route 62 near state Route 165 at 11:10 p.m. April 21 in reference to a loose horse in the roadway, but was unable to find the animal.
– An officer responded to the group home on Sharon Lynn Drive at 9:31 p.m. Saturday in reference to a 911 hang up and found that one of the residents had called because she did not get to speak to her mother that day. Everything was found to be okay.
– Lucas Brown, 17, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated and failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the area of state Route 45 and state Route 165 at 6:49 a.m. Sunday in which he said he fell asleep at the wheel while driving home, traveling off the roadway, striking a ditch and rolling his truck.
– An officer responded to the Main Street railroad crossing in Beloit at 2:53 p.m. Sunday for a report of several juveniles playing “chicken” with oncoming trains, as reported by the railroad company. The juveniles were reportedly in the area of the tracks west of Main Street that ran parallel with Derr Avenue, but after an extended period of observation, the officer found no juveniles in the area.
– An officer observed two males walking south in the ditch in the 12000 block of state Route 45, one of which appeared to be on his cell phone and attempting to get the officer’s attention. Upon speaking with the man, the officer found that he was having issues with his son, who took off walking along the roadway and with whom he was attempting to catch up. The officer spoke with both individuals until everything was in good order.
– An officer responded to a Country Club Lane home at 6:43 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported the father of her child was supposed to meet her halfway between their residences to return the child, but that he failed to show. The child was returned to the mother.
– An officer responded to the 12000 Sharon Lynn Drive at 7:20 p.m. Sunday where bystanders said they heard screaming and yelling coming from the inside of an apartment. The officer made contact with a man at the home who appeared to be agitated and said that he was having an argument with his girlfriend about finances. The officer also spoke with the girlfriend who appeared upset, but both individuals said it was verbal only and that all was okay.
SALEM
– An officer responded at 12:30 p.m. Monday to the Salem Water Department for a dispute involving a man and woman causing a disturbance by using foul language over their water being shut off. They told police their water was shut off and they were there to get the water turned back on. The water department advised the water could not be turned back on without the proper paperwork due to the estate being in Probate. No violence was reported.
– An officer was dispatched at 12:09 p.m. Monday to the Salem Health Department in response to a dog bite incident that occurred on April 20. Environmental health director John Conrad advised a 7-year-old juvenile was bitten on the back by a German Shepherd in the area of Newgarden Avenue and Arch Street. The juvenile went to the hospital to get treated. He wanted to make sure a report was on file.
– Elsie Virden, of the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue, reported at 11:43 a.m. Monday that someone entered her vehicle overnight and removed a bag containing bingo supplies and also removed a few cassette tapes from the console.
– A credit card and two driver’s licenses were found near the intersection of East State Street and South Union Avenue and turned over to police at 10:16 a.m. Monday.
– An alarm was reported at 4:44 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of Arch Street. The exterior of the business was found secure.
– An officer on patrol at 3:13 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue was flagged down by two men who said they saw a female dragging a male into the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency department and the male appeared to have been assaulted. An officer responded and the female said her husband had been involved in a motorcycle accident in the Lisbon area and she brought him to the hospital. The proper agencies were advised.
– Police were called at 12:47 a.m. Monday to Circle K, 1125 E. State St., for a report of trespassing. A clerk said a male came to the business twice in the past week and was asking patrons for money. She advised him both times to stop and to leave the store. He came back in again Monday and was asking people for money again. She told him to leave again and he did not leave the property. Police made contact with the male and he denied asking for money. He was told to leave and that he could be charged if he returns.
– A reckless operator was reported at 9:24 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Aetna Street peeling tires. The vehicle was not located.
– Austin Young, 21, of 228 Vine Ave., was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to his apartment at 9:13 p.m. Sunday regarding a male who cut himself with a knife and jumped out an apartment window. The roommate said the male had an argument with a girl and became so upset he began cutting his arm before fleeing. Officers began searching the area and were told he was seen on North Ellsworth Avenue, then they learned a female acquaintance found him and brought him back to the apartment. Upon arrival, police were told of a possible fight inside involving a knife and a taser. An officer observed the people facing off through a back window and saw one had a knife. Officers forced entry and secured the injured male, who was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment after EMT and fire department first responders came to the scene. The roommate said he brandished the taser in self-defense when the male brandished a knife. Young was ordered taken to the hospital due to self-inflicted injuries. The roommate did not want to file charges. Officers secured a pocket knife from the male’s pants pocket, a kitchen knife with blood on it and a double edge knife brandished during the argument with the roommate witnessed by an officer.
– An animal complaint was reported at 7:24 p.m. Sunday on Butcher Road. The animal wasn’t found and police learned the dog was outside of the city’s jurisdiction.
– A dog was reported at large in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and Eighth Street at 7:19 p.m. Sunday. An officer was familiar with the animal and returned it to the owner, warning the owner for dog at large and that a citation would occur next time. The owner was also advised there was no current dog license on the dog and it would be reported to the Columbiana County dog warden.
– An audible alarm was reported at 7:14 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of East State Street. The exterior of the property was found secure.
– It was noted at 7 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle had been parked in a church parking lot on Jennings Avenue for some time. There was no problem after a check of the registration. Contact will be made with the church to see if it’s known why the vehicle is parked there.
– Officers in the 400 block of Ash Street at 5:02 p.m. Sunday saw smoke and found a person burning leaves. Officers and firefighters advised the person of open burning city ordinances and the fire was extinguished.
– Open burning was reported at 4:22 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Bank Street. A person was burning leaves and making excessive smoke. Officers and firefighters advised the person of open burning city ordinances and the fire was extinguished.
– An Ohio license plate was found on a road and turned in at the police station at 4:06 p.m. Sunday. The owner was contacted to pick it up.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 3:24 p.m. Sunday a dog was barking for hours on Firestone Avenue. Police found the dog and spoke with the owner who was out front working. The dog was then put inside the home.
– Anthony Laberto of Boardman reported at 10:58 p.m. Sunday his cell phone was either lost or stolen.
– A woman reported at 6:58 a.m. Sunday Chihuahuas were running loose in the area of South Main and Union streets. Police checked but did not see the dogs.
– Police checked on a suspicious vehicle in the Dutch Village Inn parking lot at 1:28 a.m. Saturday and found the woman inside the car had been sleeping and there were no problems.
– East Palestine police reported at 5:12 a.m. Saturday there was a small child hitch hiking near the city. Police found the child on state Route 14 near Waterford and Metz roads and turned the child over to a sheriff’s deputy.
– A woman reported at 10:18 a.m. Saturday someone was riding a dirt bike and revving the engine on Hawkins Lane.
– Police dispatched the fire department to provide traffic control for a crash on Kelly Park Road near state Route 164 that was handled by the highway patrol at 11:14 a.m. Saturday.
– An Ace Hardware employee reported at 6:38 p.m. Saturday there was a light green Ford in the parking lot that needed to be moved so the business could close the gate. Police attempted to make contact with the owner of the vehicle but could not, so Ace had it towed from the lot.
LISBON
– Jay G. Farrow, 37, was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to a disturbance at the Hornsby House on Rose Drive at 7:07 p.m. Sunday. The house manager said Farrow, who had been fighting with Richard A. Lips, was becoming increasingly unruly and threatening people. While there police overheard Farrow threaten to kill Lips, which is when he was arrested.

– Police responded to a domestic at 7:25 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a female advised she woke up to the father of her child grabbing the child forcefully. She said they had an argument because the child was fussy all night, then she said he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her onto the bed. No marks were observed on her or the child. The male said he did have an argument with the woman over the child but he was not physical with either one of them. He said he would leave for the day.
– An officer on patrol at 3:39 a.m. Sunday attempted to initiate a traffic stop with a vehicle for speeding on East State Street, but the vehicle did not stop and pulled into the hospital parking lot. The driver said his female passenger was having a medical emergency. The officer got help and she was taken inside.
– Vehicles were reported racing up and down Ridgewood Drive at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, but no vehicles were found.
– Two suspicious vehicles were reported at 1:21 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of East Third Street and appeared to be in some type of dispute. The vehicles were not found.
– A woman in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 1:15 a.m. Sunday that a suspicious vehicle has been driving through her alley every night. She couldn’t provide a description of the vehicle. An officer stayed in the area several minutes and observed the alley, but didn’t see a vehicle drive through.
– Officers located a vehicle at 11:25 p.m. Saturday with its alarm sounding and lights flashing at a business in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The driver door wasn’t latched so the officer secured the vehicle prior to leaving, but the alarm was still sounding.
– Loud persons were reported at 10:16 p.m. Saturday at East Fifth Street and Rose Avenue. An officer spoke to the people and told them to keep the noise down.
– Charles Corbett, 66, of North Lincoln Avenue, was cited for a traffic control device violation after a traffic stop at 9:42 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Vine Avenue. After speaking with the driver, it was determined he was operating the vehicle as a taxi without the proper identification markings. He was told to cease his actions as a taxi for the evening and that he would be receiving a minor misdemeanor citation for a taxi violation, besides the traffic violation.
– A possible water line break was reported at 9:43 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street. The responding officer saw water running in the road and traced the source to a front yard on Fourth Street. The resident said the water was the result of a clogged sump pump drain. East time the pump turned on, the water was being pushed up from the downspout drain and then flowed through the yard to the street.
– An assault was reported at 9:29 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of East State Street which occurred on Thursday. The officer spoke with the victim and alleged suspect in the case. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review.
– A caller at 9:26 p.m. Saturday reported seeing a group of juveniles in the area of Hawley Avenue and East Fourth Street with a television, thinking they may have stolen it. Officers were aware of a television sitting out in the curb lawn as trash. A group of juveniles was located who said another group of boys were seen near the television.
– A Jennings Avenue resident called at 7:39 p.m. Saturday to report receiving harassing phone calls from a family member. The officer contacted the family member and told them to cease contact with the resident or criminal charges could result.
– Carly Williams, 19, of Columbiana, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her southbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue at 6:49 p.m. Saturday struck the rear of a southbound motorcycle driven by Russell Austin, 32, of Cleveland, who was stopped for traffic at State Street. No injuries were reported.
– A private property accident was reported at 7:19 p.m. Saturday in the Circle K East parking lot at 1125 E. State St. involving a truck. The report said the truck was leaving the parking lot and one of its doors was open and struck one of the signs at the business.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:54 p.m. Saturday in the Walmart parking lot. Officers spoke with the people involved and no physical violence occurred, just a verbal altercation. They were told to stay away from each other until they can calm down.
– A woman in the 800 block of West Pershing Street reported at 3:58 p.m. Saturday that she’s receiving unwanted phone calls and texts from a person known to her. She was told her options. Officers contacted the person and told him to have no more contact with the woman.
– A woman in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue reported being a victim of identity fraud at 3:46 p.m. Saturday. An officer took down the information and told her to keep a close watch on her accounts. If she notices anything out of the ordinary, she should call police.
– Police were called at 2:53 p.m. Saturday to check the well being of a resident in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The dog was found outside when a neighbor arrived and had a key. Entry was gained by the neighbor who also called the husband who said the female had left in the morning.
– A woman in the city reported phone harassment at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, saying she’s receiving unwanted text messages from her ex about how she is spending child support money. Officers told both sides to cease further contact and inform their respective attorneys about any civil issues.
– A barking dog was reported at 8:41 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. No one was home, so a warning tag was left at a residence.

– William Wildman, 42, of Clewell Drive, Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 3:04 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was towed and the license plates and registration were confiscated per the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
– A caller at 1:03 a.m. Saturday reported a dog in a van parked on the road in the 600 block of Prospect Street. Police responded and noted the dog appeared to be in general good health. The officer was unable to reach the owner of the vehicle.
– A possible domestic dispute was reported at 12:04 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Police heard loud music coming from the residence and people talking loudly. Officers made contact and spoke to several people inside who said there was no dispute, that they were just talking. A strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the home and when asked about the odor, a man said he had a small amount of marijuana and gave it to officers. Kevin Mayes, 30, of Maple Heights, was cited for possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.
– Mariel Hartman, of West South Range Road, reported a vehicle break-in at 11:23 p.m. Friday in the 2300 block of East State Street. An officer took information about the stolen property.
– Amy Hall, of the 500 block of East Seventh Street, reported at 11:02 p.m. Friday that eggs were thrown at her vehicle and when she went to wash it off, she noticed the driver side window was spray painted.
– A caller at 9:56 p.m. Friday reported vehicles being driven recklessly in the Walmart parking lot, but they could not be found.
– Police were called at 8:49 p.m. Friday to Salem Fun Factory, 520 E. Pershing St., for a theft report. A young male juvenile got into other lockers at the skate center and stole money from another juvenile. Officers spoke with the parent of the suspect juvenile. The report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.
– An unruly juvenile was reported at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Salem Fun Factory, 520 E. Pershing St., where a juvenile was inside the bathroom laying on the floor and refusing to get up and leave. Officers got the juvenile to go downstairs, later observing that she was not in a good mental state. The juvenile was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A cell phone found Tuesday was turned over to police at 5:58 p.m. Friday.
– A dispute was reported at 5:52 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of West 10th Street. The people involved were told the situation was civil and to seek legal counsel.
– An anonymous woman came to the station at 5:49 p.m. Friday to ask about an item found on her vehicle and a recent article she read. The item was removed and found to be OK.
– Domestic violence was alleged in the 600 block of Cedar Street at 5:38 p.m. Friday. A woman said her juvenile was involved in an altercation with her and the juvenile was causing damage inside the home. Officers documented the damage and told her options. Officers later spoke with the juvenile and found no physical violence occurred that would warrant an arrest.
– An illegally parked vehicle was reported at 4:29 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of East State Street. The vehicle was parked in such a way that the vehicle in front could not get out of its spot until officers stopped traffic to let it out. A parking ticket was issued to the illegally parked car.
– A woman in the 100 block of West Fourth Street reported at 5:07 p.m. Friday that she wanted an intoxicated person removed from her residence. Upon arrival, officers saw a highly intoxicated male arguing with the woman. He was told to leave or be arrested. He was given a ride by another couple and told to stay home and not return.
– A hit/skip was reported at 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of East State Street. A man said he was parked in a parking spot and the car that was behind him hit the rear of his car and drove off.
– Police were called at 4:09 p.m. Friday to the 800 block of West State Street to check on the welfare of a person inside a vehicle. The vehicle was not located.
– Police responded to a medical at 1:34 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East State Street where an elderly female fell on the sidewalk. Officers stood by until medical personnel arrived.

Police spoke with the men and found they were not in possession of any marijuana. The men were warned that if it had happened in the past not to let it happen again.
– Joe McAndrew reported at 11:39 a.m. Thursday a man left the Radio Shack store with headsets he did not purchase.
– Brianna Ketchum, 20, Dobson Road, Salineville, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Lisbon Street at 10:49 p.m. Thursday.

-Ashley M. Purvis, 54, Vale Street, East Liverpool, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after striking a vehicle driven by Cathy S. Boggs, 54, Parker Road, East Palestine, while pulling into a turning lane at the intersection of Market Street and Lincoln Way at 2:56 p.m. April 15.
-Police received a call about two women arguing on North Jefferson Street at 4:33 a.m. Wednesday and arrived to find Sierra Frantz and Amanda Garretson in an alley. They said a man they know was texting them that he was going to kill himself. Police found the man standing outside his apartment and he said he was not going to harm himself.
-Police were called to Lee Avenue at 8:26 a.m. Thursday where they met with Daniel Steeves, who said he was kicking out his girlfriend, Deborah Heiney. Steeves was told he could not force her to leave since she had established residency there, but both of them told police they were leaving the residence.

– An 800 block Prospect Street resident reported at 4:41 p.m. Thursday having problems with his brother regarding living arrangements at a building in which they both reside.
– A 1300 block Eastview Drive resident reported at 5:03 p.m. Thursday that someone had broken into one of his vehicles sometime in March.
– Police responded to a possible illegal burning in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 5:22 p.m. Thursday and had the fire department also respond to ensure it was legal.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 1400 block of Quaker Court at 5:56 p.m. Thursday and again at 7:05 p.m. the same day, both times finding the building secure.
– A 400 block Jennings Avenue resident reported at 7:33 p.m. Thursday that someone had taken his garbage can while he was work that day.
– An officer responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street at 8:40 p.m. Thursday in reference to children playing in the roadway. The officer found the children playing nearby, but not in the street and with a parent’s consent.
– An East Third Street resident reported at 1:19 a.m. Friday that a suspicious vehicle had followed his daughter home.

– An officer responded to a Benton Road home at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a medical alarm in which the alarm company could not contact the resident. The officer found that the resident had lost the base of the monitoring system and had hit the panic button in an attempt to locate it. No medical attention was needed.
– An officer investigated a vandalism complaint at 2:57 p.m. Wednesday in which someone allegedly broke a door lock to an apartment in the 1100 block of West Perry Street in an attempt to enter and retrieve property. The person was let inside after the damage occurred.
– Police responded to the area of Egypt and Painter roads in reference to a trailer blocking the intersection at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday, but found no vehicles blocking the roadway. There was a construction trailer near the Salem city limits on Painter Road with cones set out for unloading equipment, but it was well marked and not near the intersection.
– An employee at an 1800 block South Lincoln Avenue business at 1:51 p.m. Thursday wished to document an incident which occurred with another employee on April 18. The matter was not a police issue and the complainant was advised to speak with their manager.
– Police responded to an 1100 block Prospect Street apartment at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in reference to a possible domestic dispute and found a verbal argument between a man and woman regarding relationship issues. No injuries were reported and the individuals did not wish to give statements for further investigation.

– Security personnel from Ventra, 800 Pennsylvania Ave., reported at 9:36 a.m. Thursday about a theft incident, advising a male came to visit an employee at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and was observed taking a wallet from the smoke break area outside. The victim was contacted and the wallet had been found on the road on Pennsylvania Avenue and was brought inside. The employee in question was contacted and made contact with the male to go talk to police. At the time of the report, nothing was missing from the wallet.
– A man in the 100 block of North Union Avenue reported at 2:38 a.m. Thursday that his soon-to-be ex-wife was changing his password on Facebook and logging into his account. He has court papers that neither party can harass the other and he wanted a report. Officers told him he may want to change his account to avoid further issues.
– A man in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue reported at 12:47 a.m. Thursday that someone was using his social security number to order catalogs. He was told to call social security and let them know he filed a police report.
– A woman in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street reported at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday that a large sum of money was taken from her apartment while she was away. She advised of a suspect. The incident is under investigation.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street where two neighbors were arguing over a vehicle driving too fast in a residential neighborhood. They were told their options.

– Angel Lewis, 30, of East Main Street, New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday at Southeast Boulevard and Franklin. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
– A clerk at Smith Oil in the 900 block of East State Street reported at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday that someone drove off without paying for $15 worth of gasoline.

– William G. Penfold, 64, Salem, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 9:20 a.m. Monday in which he was southbound on Lisbon Road and failed to yield to traffic at state Route 14, striking an eastbound vehicle driven by John W. Oliver, 54, Leetonia. No injuries were reported.
– Douglas A. McDevitt, 66, Salem, was cited for right of way when turning left following a two-vehicle crash in Damascus at 5:46 p.m. Monday in which he was southbound on state Route 534 and attempted a left turn onto U.S. Route 62, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Denis E. Karlen, 77, Salem. No injuries were reported.
– Shawn T. Short, 45, Cleveland, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 13000 block of state Route 165 in Goshen Township in which he was eastbound in a semi and lost control of the vehicle, traveling off the roadway into a fence. No injuries were reported.
– Christina L. Manges, 29, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and left of center following a traffic stop in New Albany at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday.
– Casey W. Cline, 40, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension and speed following a traffic stop at U.S. Route 62 and state Route 534 at noon Wednesday.
– An officer responded to a 7000 block West Calla Road home at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday where the resident reported his neighbor found six marijuana cigarettes and two glass smoking utensils while cleaning his rabbit hutch.
LISBON
– Alice Horner, Maple Street, reported Monday that her neighbors have been stealing items from her yard, including rocks, as well as breaking into her van. She said the rocks were gone for close to four months, but police did not find any indentations in the ground and the grass was growing well in the spots. As for the van, the officer said there were no marks or any other indications it had been broken into.
– Melinda Ewing, who runs the emergency homeless shelter on Maple Street, contacted police at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday to remove two residents – Angel Post and her boyfriend, Jeremy Gray. Ewing said Post was aware of the rules when she violated them. Post was able to get a ride for her and Gray.

– Police dispatched the fire department to assist EMS with a traffic crash on state Route 344 being handled by the highway patrol at 12:59 a.m. Wednesday.
– A woman requested police escort her to her car at Burger King at 3:16 a.m. Wednesday because there was a suspicious person in the parking lot.
– A North Middle Street woman requested police meet her at her home at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday because her husband supposedly got into an altercation with one of her 15-year-old sons. No arrests were made.

– A domestic was reported at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday on Cleveland Street where a male swung multiple times at a female and had two children present. The male said he was upset about the female allowing the children to take a scooter to a local restaurant. Nothing physical occurred and no injuries were observed.
– A man in the 100 block of Rose Avenue reported at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday that his landlord struck him in the chest with a closed fist. The report said the two were arguing because the landlord accused him of damaging/stealing property stakes the landlord placed on the property.
– Councilman Clyde Brown called police at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday about a white SUV parked in a front yard in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer saw the vehicle sitting on the paved curb area in front of a residence and left a warning on the vehicle for parking on the curb and the new parking in yard ordinance.
– A woman from the 1100 block of East 10th Street came to the station at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday to report locating a letter in her mailbox with no return address. She said the letter was addressed to her son and seemed suspicious. She was told to discuss the letter with her son to see if he knew what it meant. It did not appear to be threatening but some sort of code.
– A woman at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday advised a female not allowed on a property in the 200 block of West 14th Street was observed knocking on the door. No one was found.
– Police responded at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday to Reilly School where a little boy from across the street came to see his sister at school. The mother arrived as staff members were trying to make contact and said she was in the bathroom when he took off. She said he’s fascinated with the construction company working outside and won’t stay inside. She was told he had been at the school for 10 minutes. The report will be sent to Children Services.
– An officer was dispatched at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday to advise a city resident about a warning from the Salem Health Department. The resident was not home so a warning card was left. A dog at large had been reported but a dog was observed inside the apartment barking.
– A caller at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday showed officers a plastic coke bottle that appeared to have been used for drugs in the area of Vine Avenue and East Fifth Street. The item was destroyed by an officer at the station.
– A road crew in the area of Franklin Avenue and South Union Avenue called at 9:09 a.m. Wednesday to have two vehicles moved off the road. The owner was moving the vehicles when police arrived.
– Ryan Boyce, of Adamson Veterinary Clinic, 375 W. State St., reported at 9:01 a.m. Wednesday that sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning , someone attempted to gain entry into the building by prying up a screen and trying to break the locks on the window. No entry was gained.
– A vehicle driven by Kimberly Whitman was damaged after a Central Allied skid steer vehicle backed into her vehicle while she was stopped on South Lundy by a flagger for a repaving project at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday. The report said she was stopped near Columbia Street and the person driving the construction vehicle didn’t see her behind him and backed into her vehicle. No injuries were reported. No citation was issued, but the Central Allied worker was at fault and the accident will be handled through the insurance company.
– A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday that her 15-year-old daughter was upset and causing problems because her boyfriend wasn’t allowed to stay at the residence. She said her daughter shoved her out of the way during an argument. Officers told the juvenile she would have to listen to her mother’s rules. She was told if her actions continued or she snuck out, she would be charged.
– A woman in the 1200 block of Maple Street reported at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday that a family member sent 30 harassing text messages that evening and this was the third night in a row of ongoing telecommunications harassment from this same person. An officer will attempt to follow up with the suspect. The woman was told if the problem persists to file an additional report and the case will be sent to the prosecutor for review of charges.
– Suspicious persons and vehicles were reported at 10:14 p.m. Tuesday at Waterworth Memorial Park off of Sunset. A male and female were contacted whose cars were legally parked and they were talking. The officer saw no problem.
– A possible domestic dispute was reported at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Union Avenue. A boyfriend and girlfriend had a verbal altercation. No threats or violence occurred. The male was intoxicated, extremely loud and using vulgar language. He was asked to lower his voice several times and to refrain from disturbing the neighborhood or a disorderly conduct charge could result. He felt he wasn’t doing anything wrong and expressed anger about a neighbor calling police. He was told officers are obligated to investigate all reported disturbances and maintain the peace. He acknowledged the warnings to return home and quiet down.
– A caller at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday reported a tractor trailer obstructing traffic while trying to turn around in the 2900 block of East State Street where the road is closed 100 yards beyond that area. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
– A vehicle with lights on was reported at 9:43 p.m. Tuesday on Legacy Lane, but was not found.
– A Salineville resident called at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday regarding possible menacing that occurred in the 900 block of East State Street where a male had possibly threatened a female. No evidence of a threat was found.
– Police were dispatched at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday to the Salem food pantry on East Third Street for a harassment report. A man said he was being harassed.
– A possible combative patient was reported at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Continental Drive. Officers arrived and found the person not currently combative but medical personnel thought there was a risk she may become combative. Police stood by until medical personnel could evaluate the situation.
– Officers checked the area of Southeast Boulevard and Ridgewood for an abandoned animal at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, but there wasn’t enough information provided to locate the source of the alleged animal complaint.
– A man on Westville Lake Road started to report an attempted scam through an online web page at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday but it was determined he didn’t live in the city and the incident did not occur in the city. He was referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
– The city street foreman called police at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday concerned over grass being blown in the street in the 1800 block of Fairview Court. The resident said her son mowed and she would tell him.
– William Alesi, 31, of 1138 Liberty St., was taken into custody at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Aetna Street on an active warrant for narcotic equipment possession. He was released to a deputy to be transported to the Columbiana County jail.
– Officers responded at 8:51 a.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue to have a vehicle removed for Columbia Gas.
COLUMBIANA
– Kenneth A. Staats Jr., 80, James Street, Columbiana, was eastbound on East Park Avenue at 8 a.m. Tuesday and approaching the Parkside Health Care Center and struck Amanda C. Lipply, 36, Pueblo Lane, Columbiana, who was also eastbound. Staats was cited for assured clear distance and taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman with possible injuries. His passenger, Patricia A. Staats, 76, James Street, Columbiana, was also taken to the medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.
– John P. Grim, 46, Canfield, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday and was struck from behind by Kerry L. Rouse, 40, North Liberty Street, East Palestine. Rouse was cited for assured clear distance.
– Police received multiple calls around 5 p.m. Tuesday of a brush fire on state Route 11 beyond city limits. The call was later canceled by Leetonia.
– Joni Rambo reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday a man who had already been reported to police for causing issues at the tanning salon on North Main Street was back at the business. Police told the man not to return and warned him for trespassing. The man’s identity was not included in the report.
– Seth Randolf reported at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday there was a car crash on state Route 344 near the railroad overpass. Police notified the highway patrol and the sheriff’s office, which also responded. No injuries were reported. Police stood by until the patrol arrived.
– Beverly E. Reidy, Padgett Road, East Palestine, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign following a crash in Chestnut Alley at 5:40 p.m. Monday. Reidy was southbound in the alley when her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old boy from Columbiana.

– Police were called to the apartment of a North Market Street man at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday. When asked what was the problem, the man said he just wanted to rest in peace. An ambulance was called to transport him to a local hospital.
– A truck driver in the Days Inn parking lot reported turning down a man who asked him for a ride at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday. Police found the man next door at the Shale Tavern sitting at the bar, and he was checked for warrants and there were none. The man said he found another ride, and police waited until the ride arrived and he left.
– Kevin Schreffler, North Market Street, reported March 24 the following items were stolen from his garage: Yard Machine mower, air compressor, leaf blower, gas weed trimmer, vacuum pump, manifold gauge, extension cord and gasoline can.

SALEM
– David Dinsio called police at 12:59 p.m. Tuesday about the road in the 2900 block of East State Street being obstructed, complaining that the sign regarding a road closure wasn’t large enough for drivers to see. The Ohio Department of Transportation in Mahoning County was contacted about the issue. An officer responded and found the signs in the same place they’ve been since the beginning of the week. The officer advised dispatch to let ODOT know, questioning whether they want to place another sign before Cunningham. Reportedly traffic has been backing up and motorists are having to find a way to turn around, not realizing the road is closed for a culvert replacement.
– A caller at 8:52 a.m. Tuesday complained about traffic on Ohio Avenue near Reilly School. An officer found a Miller Pipeline/Columbia Gas operation underway for maintenance. One lane was open and traffic was light.
– An officer at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday responded to assist Perry Township with traffic control while Perry Police handled a traffic crash. The Perry Township fire department also assisted with traffic. The report did not note the location of the crash.
– An officer was called at 6:13 a.m. Tuesday to Simmons Feed & Supply on Snyder Road for a private property accident. A semi trailer and steel guardrail were damaged when the truck was turning into the lot.
– A man arrived at the police station at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday and reported his cell phone was stolen while he was visiting an establishment in the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue. An investigation is pending.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Police made contact with both parties, who are boyfriend/girlfriend, and learned the two got into a verbal dispute over personal matters, but nothing physical occurred. The female left for the night.
– An officer on patrol at 10:04 p.m. Monday saw a suspicious person/vehicle in the high school parking lot and spoke to the person. He was having vehicle troubles.
– Police responded at 10:02 p.m. Monday to Waterworth Memorial Park off of Sunset for a report of several people with flashlights along the edge of the walking path, but didn’t locate anyone.
-A suspicious vehicle was reported at 9:36 p.m. Monday in the back of a lot in the 400 block of Legacy Lane with its tail lights illuminated. The vehicle was secure and nothing appeared out of the ordinary except for the tail lights being on.
– A woman in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 9:28 p.m. Monday reported she was receiving unwanted calls and texts from a person known to her. She was told her options. Police also contacted the suspect and told him to cease contact.
– Police responded at 8:51 p.m. Monday to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue for a dispute. Both people involved said it was only verbal. Nothing further was needed.
– Police responded with the fire department at 8:27 p.m. Monday to the area of Morgan Court for a smoke investigation, but were unable to determine the origin of the smoke, which dissipated while officers were there.
– Smoke was reported at 7:37 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of East State Street around a business in the Salem Plaza, but no smoke was detected anywhere in the area. The fire department had also responded.
– Kevin Gregory, 25, of 50492 Pancake Clarkson Road, Negley, was taken into custody on warrants from Columbiana County after a traffic stop near the 1000 block of East Pershing Street Monday evening. City police had been notified by Perry Township Police about a male with active warrants possibly somewhere in the city driving a light blue SUV. Officers located the vehicle and made the stop, positively identifying the driver and confirming the warrants with the Sheriff’s Office. The driver was patted down for weapons, properly handcuffed and transported to the Salem Police station, then turned over to a deputy for transport to the county jail.
– A resident in the 2000 block of Southeast Boulevard came to the station at 5:26 p.m. Monday to speak with an officer about a case of fraud/identity theft. A person unknown to him opened up a credit card in his name without his knowledge or permission. He was told his options.
– Bradley Sayers, 35, of Louisville, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his northbound vehicle struck the rear of another northbound vehicle driven by Jacob Boles, 20, of Youngstown, who had stopped for a traffic signal on South Lincoln Avenue at East Pershing Street at 5:03 p.m. Monday. Sayers was going to get checked out by medical professionals after the accident.
– An unruly juvenile was reported at 4:50 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of West State Street where a woman said her grandson was upset because she took away his video game system. Officers spoke with the juvenile about listening to his elders and doing as told.
– A resident in the area of South Union Avenue and Ridgewood reported at 4:29 p.m. Monday that a juvenile on a motor scooter was driving around another young juvenile. Officers made contact with the parents of the juvenile and advised it was unsafe for a young child to be driving on the road and sidewalks. The parents then supervised the children as they continued to play.
LISBON
– Sondra Copestick, West Lincoln Way, reported there was a suspicious vehicle behind her residence at 3:10 a.m. Monday and she believes it may be her grandson. Police determined it was her grandson and some friends, and he said they were leaving for the night and he was going inside.
-While on patrol an officer found a door open at Willowbrook Sand & Gravel at 9:27 p.m. Monday and checked but found nothing amiss, leading him to believe it must have been left open due to neglect. The owner was contacted, and he, too, found nothing missing.
-Police responded to a malfunctioning alarm at the Eagles Club at 12:17 a.m. Monday.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 3 a.m. Monday there was a suspicious vehicle parked near the Manor Apartments and the interior dome light was on inside. Police checked but did not see the vehicle.
– Police dispatched firefighters to a report of a car on fire on Lower Elkton Road at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
– A woman reported at 8:13 p.m. Monday kids were skateboarding in the Grace Church parking lot. Police spoke with the kids, who claimed to have had permission to skate there, but police pointed out the “no skateboarding sign” and they left.

– A man reported at 3:52 p.m. Sunday he broke down in the middle of the lane on state Route 7 near state Route 14 and was posing a traffic hazard. Police responded and the vehicle was pushed off the road while the driver waited for AAA to arrive.
– A man reported at 4:18 p.m. Sunday someone was driving a motorcycle or dirt bike and was speeding down Stanton Avenue. Police checked but the vehicle was no longer there.
– Paul Taylor of Negley reported at 4:49 p.m. Sunday he believed he saw a Dairy Queen employee touch themselves inappropriately while working. Police spoke with the employee who denied doing anything wrong. A female worker who was reportedly standing near the employee at the time told police she did not see the man engage in any inappropriate behavior.
– David Savon of Salem was stopped at a red light at the state Routes 14 and 46 intersection at 5:49 p.m. Sunday when Teresa Gustafson of Leetonia failed to stop in time and struck Savon in the rear. She was cited for assured clear distance and OVI.
– Bonnie Channels, Beechwood Drive, reported at 12:29 a.m. Sunday she heard what sounded like a pop noise and then her home lost power.
– Valerie Dattilio, no address listed, reported at 10:27 a.m. Connie Dattilio contacted her via the telephone and there was a no contact order in place.
– Police notified the fire department at 2:47 p.m. Sunday that an Allen Avenue woman reported she could smell what seemed like something burning.
– A Circle K employee reported at 3:23 p.m. Sunday a man keeps coming into the store causing problems.
– Someone anonymously reported at 7:59 p.m. Sunday a customer was being belligerent with a server at Paul’s Antone’s. Police checked but the people were already gone.
LISBON
– Jennifer Peterson reported her vehicle was parked in the Lisbon Historical Society parking lot at 11:44 p.m. Saturday when several men began to approach. Police checked the area but did not find anyone lurking about.
– Ashley N. Freeman, 24, of Canfield, was cited for assured cleared distance after she drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle operated by Mark A. Johnson, 58, Y Camp Road, Lisbon, at the intersection of East Lincoln Way and Jackson Street at 2:37 p.m. Saturday.
– A clerk at the BP station reported at 12:32 p.m. Thursday there was a suspicious person who had been in the restroom for the past 20 minutes and customers were complaining. Customers also claimed they could hear loud noises coming from there. Police knocked on the door several times and a woman finally answered, identifying herself as a counselor at the county mental health center located next door. The woman said she first tried using the restroom at the Shale Tavern next door but they were closed, and then she went across the parking lot to the Days Inn hotel but its restrooms are only for customers. When asked why she did not go to the mental health center located next door to the BP station, the counselor said she sleeps in her car between her home visits and did not want anyone to stop her while she was at her employer’s. Police examined the restroom and did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
-A caller reported juveniles were standing in the middle of West High Street at 10:31 p.m. Saturday. Police responded but did not see anyone about.
– A woman called Saturday to say she was dissatisfied with a washer and dryer she purchased through a local buy, sell and trade website and wants her money back. The caller said she was still speaking with the seller about returning the items but wanted a report on file just in case.
– Jessica Butulla, West Washington Street, called about a boy being bitten by a dog at 11:53 a.m. Sunday. Police arrived and spoke with an unidentified man, who showed them where his son had been bitten while riding his bicycle. The bite did not appear that serious, and the owner was told to keep her dog tied up when it is outside.
– Police responding to a report of a drunken woman passed out on Lincole Place at 2:44 p.m. Sunday arrived to find Vickie Waite from Apple Grove apartments lying on a gravel road. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
– An unidentified man reported seeing two boys trying to break into garages on East Lincoln Way at 7:10 p.m. Sunday. The man stopped the youths, who provided him their names, which he passed on to police. An officer searched for the boys but did not see anyone matching their descriptions.
– Tana L. May, 26, Spillway Road, Guilford Lake, was cited for assured cleared distance after she drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle operated by Rachel A. Rapp, 26, Eastlake Drive, Guilford Lake, at the intersection of Lincoln Way and Market Street at 7:46 a.m. Thursday.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Officers responded to an Egypt Road home at 5:52 a.m. April 11 where the resident once again reported juveniles damaging his roof.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 11000 block of state Route 165 at 4 p.m. April 11 and found all doors and windows secured.
– An officer responded to a home in the 10000 block of Calla Road at 6:52 p.m. April 11 for a report of someone who had taken money from the residence.
– A complainant from the 11000 block of Pine Lake Road reported at 8:18 p.m. April 11 that someone borrowed their vehicle and returned it with possible drug paraphernalia. Officers examined the items which appeared to be packaging commonly used for narcotics and provided the complainant with some suggestions for addressing the situation with the individual.
– Officers responded to an alarm drop in the 12000 block of state Route 45 at 10:01 a.m. April 12 and found the front door ajar. They searched the house and found everything to be in order.
– An officer stood by to assist the Green Township Fire Department on a garage fire in the 11000 block of Lisbon Road at 5:17 p.m. April 12.
– An officer responded to a Redwood Street, Beloit, home at 2:26 p.m. April 13 where the resident reported juveniles in his car. The officer found no juveniles, however the resident said he could still see them there.
– Michael Griffin, 58, Salem, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after officers responded to a South Duck Creek Road home at 5:08 p.m. April 13 where he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop at a Williams Street, Beloit, home at 8:10 p.m. April 13 and found that dogs were continuously setting off the home alarm system.
– An officer responded to the area of Smith Goshen Road and Middletown Road at 9:20 p.m. April 13 to check on a vehicle left on the side of the road in gravel private property. There was a note attached to the vehicle stating a tow was coming.
– Officers responded to a 15000 block U.S. Route 62, Damascus, business at 11:37 a.m. April 14 in reference to a suspicious vehicle driving past the shop.
– An officer responded to a Redwood Street, Beloit, home at 3:41 p.m. April 14 in reference to a possible physical domestic dispute. The officer found nothing physical had occurred and all individuals involved separated for the night.
– An officer responded to a report of loud music in the 10000 block of Calla Road at 12:42 a.m. Saturday and found the homeowner having a bonfire. The homeowner was asked to keep the noise level to a minimum.
– An officer responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and Duck Creek Road at 2:30 p.m. April 16 to provide traffic control for the Damascus Fire Department which was handling a structure fire.
– An officer responded with the Green Township Fire Department to a report of a large amount of black smoke in the area of state Route 165 and Green Beaver Road at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The officer found that the smoke was coming from a big grass fire in Pennsylvania.
– Daniel W. Brewer, 56, Monessen, Pa., was charged with operating a vehicle investigated, improper passing and a seatbelt violation following a traffic stop on Main Street in Beloit at 5:23 p.m. Saturday in which an officer observed him attempt to pass a vehicle on a double yellow line, travel off the left side of the roadway and almost strike another vehicle while overcorrecting.
– Steven Miranda, 19, Massillon, was cited for failure to control and possession of drug paraphernalia following a one-vehicle crash in the 12000 block of Goshen Road at 5:39 p.m. Saturday in which he was northbound and lost control of his vehicle, traveling off the left side of the road. Miranda and his passenger were treated on scene by Damascus first responders.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 12000 block state Route 45 at 5:48 p.m. Saturday, but while en route was informed that the keyholder had called and advised that everything was under control.
– An officer responded to the 13000 block of U.S. Route 62 in Damascus at 10:52 p.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone driving an ATV up and down Duck Creek Road at a high rate of speed. The resident also said that the same thing happens almost every Sunday around noon with a motorcycle. The officer stayed in the area, but observed no ATVs for the day.
– Randolph D. Lautzenheiser, 50, Alliance, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash on Fifth Street just west of Stanley Avenue in Beloit at 11:27 p.m. Sunday in which he was westbound and lost control of his vehicle, striking a utility pole. He was treated on scene by Beloit first responders.

PERRY TWP.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 4:48 p.m. Sunday in the area of state Route 45 and East Pidgeon Road, but the vehicle was not located.
– Police were called at 1:22 p.m. Sunday to check on a person who exited a KLG ambulance at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East Pidgeon Road. The person had been a passenger, not a patient, who was with a family member being transported. He was located outside Circle K South on South Lincoln Avenue, identified and told about the ambulance crew’s concerns. He gave his reasons for exiting the ambulance and was going back to his residence.
– Police on patrol at 12:46 a.m. Sunday in the area of East Pidgeon Road and South Lincoln Avenue noticed a suspicious vehicle sitting in the Circle K parking lot, investigated and found a male sleeping in the driver’s seat. Police woke him up and were told he was a truck driver just resting before continuing his drive home.
– Township police were asked at 11:21 p.m. Saturday to assist Salem Police in a foot pursuit in the 1400/1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Upon arrival, Salem Police had one juvenile in custody but were looking for two more. After searching through the back yards in the surrounding area, no one else was found. The juvenile was transported by Salem Police to the Tobin Center in Lisbon.
– Police were called at 3:35 p.m. Saturday to the station to speak with a Leetonia woman about a physical altercation that happened earlier in the day in the 1800 block of West State Street, which is where a structure fire took place earlier in the afternoon. She did not want to pursue charges at this time, but just wanted to file a report. At the fire, police directed traffic for the fire department and were assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol at West State Street and state Route 45 and by Goshen Township Police at Duck Creek Road and U.S. Route 62. U.S. Route 62 was shut down to vehicular traffic.
– Derek Ciapala, 37, of Walden, Colo. was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his vehicle on Benton Road struck the rear of another vehicle on Benton Road driven by Evelyn Ferguson, 62, of Sebring, who was stopped in traffic while the vehicle in front of her was waiting to turn onto Florida Avenue at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.
– A resident in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 2:55 a.m. Saturday that he came home and could detect the odor of a burning illegal substance. The culprit was found to be his juvenile son who admitted to the use, but advised he had no more. Police lectured him on the dangers of drug use and left. Police had been asked to meet the resident at the station earlier at 12:56 a.m. regarding a person living at his residence. He said he wanted the person out of his house, but was advised by police that it was a civil issue and he needed to file an eviction.
– Township police responded to assist a Salem Police unit at 8:35 p.m. Friday on a domestic call at a Cleveland Street residence due to other Salem units being unavailable. Township police assisted until another Salem officer arrived and relieved the township officer.
SALEM
– A resident from Summit Street called at 1:06 p.m. Monday regarding a possible animal problem in the 100 block of Ohio Avenue where an officer was advised there was a large number of ferrel cats in the area. No problem was detected at the time of the report.
– An officer was flagged down at 12:16 p.m. Monday on Park Avenue and told of a woman possibly being held against her will. A man said he was receiving text messages from the woman who wanted to leave but her boyfriend would not allow her. Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue and spoke to both parties involved who said police were already there the night before. The woman had visible injuries on her neck. The woman gathered her belongings and left with a friend and refused to give a written statement at the time of the incident. Information will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s officer for review. Officers were dispatched to the same residence for a domestic dispute at 11:58 p.m. Sunday. A male and female were arguing over bills, but both said it was verbal only and no physical violence occurred. They had been told to remain quiet.
– A caller at 11:08 a.m. Monday reported a small child playing near the road with no adult present in the 600 block of East Fourth Street. The woman found the child playing outside but could not find the mother. An officer followed the child to her residence and attempted to find the parents. The officer saw a baby crying in a crib and no parent present and the officer followed the child in the residence. The mother was found asleep upstairs. She said her boyfriend was supposed to wake her up but never did. She was advised of the danger of leaving her small children alone. The report will be forwarded to Children Services.
– An unruly juvenile was reported at 9:01 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Franklin Street. The mother said the child was refusing to get up and go to school. The juvenile officer arrived and spoke to all parties involved.
– A man in the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue at 4:13 a.m. Monday said his roommates had been drinking the majority of the night and he got into an altercation with one of them. He was struck in the mouth causing his tooth to chip. Officers spoke with others at the home and the stories were conflicting. He was told his options and declined medical attention. He elected to leave with one of the people at the residence and they were given a ride to a home on South Lincoln Avenue.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 6:49 a.m. Monday on Cherry Street in a blue Ford Explorer, but was not found.
– A noise disturbance at 10:42 p.m. Sunday was reported as possible fireworks, but nothing was found.
– Police responded at 9:19 p.m. Sunday to the area of Sunset and Waterworth Memorial Park for a report of a suspicious red Dodge Neon which area residents believed was involved in criminal activity in the area. The vehicle was gone when police arrived. A short time later, a caller contacted police to advise the vehicle reported as suspicious had been driven by her teenage daughter who had just left a choir concert at Salem High School before dropping off her friend near the park and being followed home by someone accusing her of being involved in criminal activity. The caller was very upset and assured that her daughter was in no way involved in the alleged incidents occurring around the park.
– An officer on patrol at 9:14 p.m. Sunday saw several vehicles parked off the road along the retention pond at the end of Stone Castle Trail. The officer made contact with three people who were packing up from fishing. All three were local Salem residents and there was no problem.
– A parking complaint was reported at 7:39 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West 12th Street, but an officer who responded didn’t see any parking violations.
– A theft was reported at 7:01 p.m. Sunday from a vehicle on April 9 in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Several items had been taken from the vehicle overnight.
– A reckless operator was reported at 6:46 p.m. Sunday at Waterworth Memorial Park, but the vehicle was not found.
– A domestic dispute in a vehicle was reported at 5:35 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue. Officers located the people in question and spoke with them. The situation was determined to be a verbal dispute over family issues. The two people were told to separate for awhile, then talk it out when they’ve calmed down.
– Officers saw a person loading wood pallets into the back of a white truck at the entrance to a business in the 300 block of Mullins at 5:15 p.m. Sunday. The person was identified and said he had obtained permission to take the pallets.
– An officer at 4:40 p.m. Sunday noticed two car tires illegally dumped onto the road at the Butcher Road deadend.
– Police were called at 4:12 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a verbal dispute, then dispatch advised the persons were now in the 500 block of East Eighth Street. The person who called told police he witnessed another man throw a bag of garbage into the dumpster of a business on North Ellsworth Avenue and he confronted the man about it. The other man admitted to officers that he threw a bag of garbage in the dumpster, but said he had permission from the business owner. Officers said they would be checking with the business owner to verify he had permission and if he didn’t, he would be charged.
– A woman at 2:51 p.m. Sunday dropped off a wallet found at Centennial Park. A message was left for the owner to pick it up at the police station.
– Juveniles were reported creating a disturbance at 1:15 p.m. Sunday on East School Street. An officer spoke to the juveniles who said they would stop.
– A man reported at 12:52 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle had been left behind by a tenant that moved out of the apartment complex he manages at Vine Avenue and East Sixth Street. The vehicle has been sitting in the tenant parking area on the street for four months and has not moved. A 48-hour notice was placed on the vehicle for it to be moved or it will be towed. Dispatch contacted the registered owner and told her about the complaint.
– Kids were reported riding scooters in the road at 10:27 a.m. Sunday at South Union Avenue and Ridgewood, but they could not be found.

– Police responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Drive at 5:53 a.m. Sunday regarding a loud music complaint but could only hear people talking. They were asked to keep it down.
– At 6:12 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 2200 block of Lexington Drive for a noise complaint from the same apartment and there was no music but talking. They were advised to keep it down.
– A complainant from the 900 block of South Avenue was on station at 12:15 a.m. Sunday advising he was driving south on S. Lincoln Avenue near the city limits when he heard something strike his vehicle when another vehicle passed and found the driver’s side door was damaged. Photos were taken.
– At 1:52 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 4th Street for a verbal dispute between a man and woman over her taking the children out too late. She left with the children and when she returned he would not let her in. There was no physical violence and they separated for the night.
– At 2:04 a.m. Sunday police responded to the 1300 block of Carole Drive where a truck with males in it placed cones in the road. Police located cones near the entrance to a private drive and removed them and took them to the police department for safe keeping.
– At 8:37 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of Homewood Avenue for a golf cart driven by juveniles on the road. It was located and an officer spoke with an adult at the property to keep them off the road.
– Police responded to the 1400 block of E. 10th Street at 7:56 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised a friend’s vehicle was egged while parked over night at the residence.
– At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of Deming Street for a loud music complaint. An officer advised a person of the complaint and the music was turned down.
– At 7:07 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the N. Ellsworth Avenue and E. 7th Street area for a report of people fighting but police learned they were playing and not fighting.
– At 6:17 p.m. Saturday, police responded to N. Lincoln Avenue near Sunset Boulevard and took a reports of a key fob that was found there and placed in it the lost and found.
– Police made a moving violation traffic stop in the 500 block of E. State Street and identified the occupants regarding a shoplifting incident. While speaking with the occupants an open container was observed. Adam L. Tyson, 636 E. 2nd Street, was given a minor misdemeanor citation for it and the driver was given a verbal warning.
– At 10:20 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street for a loud music complaint and it was turned down.
Police responded to the 500 block of E. 3rd Street at 10:31 a.m. Saturday where the complainant said they heard a noise east of the residence a couple of nights ago and found three windows struck with what appeared to be BBs. No other information was provided and the complainant wanted an extra on the alley north of the residence when if could be provided.
– At 12:13 p.m. Saturday, a complainant from the 100 block of Rose Avenue was on station advising her landlord placed stakes in the yard one inch away from the drive which caused her a problem when parking her truck. He then advised her to get a new vehicle. She was advised to seek legal advise and the officer could not make him move the stakes.
– At 1:14 p.m., Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue for a neighbor dispute over dog feces in the neighbor’s yard. The complainant was advised it was a civil matter and police were unable to contact the neighbor.
– At 1:51 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of E. 6th Street where a person was unconscious. It was determined he hit his head against the house due to extreme intoxication and urinated in his pants. He was transported to the hospital.
– At 10:59 a.m. Saturday, police responded to S. Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue where a woman had fallen in the middle of the street. She was OK and was advised to walk on the sidewalk.
COLUMBIANA REPORTS
– Paris Lotze reported a possible harassment situation at 12:34 a.m. Saturday. Police spoke to Lotze and determined what happened may have been outside the city limits.
– Brad Kasunich, Union Street, reported at 1:52 a.m. Saturday his girlfriend was intoxicated and refusing to return his truck keys to him. They resolved the situation themselves and police left.
– A dog was reported at 8:36 a.m. Saturday tied in the area of Pittsburgh Street, barking for the past three hours. Police warned Amy Mateer, Spruce Street, about the dog.
– Nicolas Schuto, Kingwood Drive, Columbiana, reported at 11:39 a.m. Saturday a limb took down a wire.
– John Russell, South Middle Street, reported at 2:34 p.m. Saturday his neighbor, Richard Wiggers, was arguing with him about putting up a swimming pool and he wanted his neighbor off his property. Police told them the swimming pool is a civil issue, but if they continued to argue and police had to respond again someone could be cited with disorderly conduct.
– A woman reported fireworks in the area of Bittersweet Drive at 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
– Burger King employees reported a woman driving a gold Trailblazer went through the drive-thru smelling of alcohol at 11:21 p.m. Saturday. She was parked at the side of the building waiting for her food. Police found a vehicle, which was not exactly the same color or make and followed it, but detected no driving violations.
– A Burger King employee reported at 11:52 p.m. Saturday someone called and threatened her.
-A 911 call from North Bayshore Drive was dropped at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Officers checked the location of the call and upon arrival determined that EMS was necessary.
-A suspicious male with a backpack walking in the area of Windjammer Avenue was reported at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found nothing after checking the area.
-At 11:30 a.m. Friday, Stephanie Gardiner, Hytyre Farms Drive, Bibsonia, Pa, was traveling westbound on state Route 14 and just crossed the interesection of state Route 7 when traffic ahead came to a stop. Alvin Paukstat, Alice Street, East Palestine, was stuck in the traffic and was waiting for a vehicle to turn into a private drive when he was struck in the rear by Gardiner. Gardiner was charged with assured clear distance.

– Police responded to the 200 block of N. Cunningham Road at 12:14 a.m. Saturday for a domestic situation after being flagged down by a man whose wife was at the location with another man and he said he came to pick up his Jeep. There was no physical violence and everyone went on their separate ways.
– Police responded to the 400 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 12:21 a.m. Saturday for a verbal dispute outside the business. Everyone stated no one had been arguing and everything appeared to be OK.
– At 1:06 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1500 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue for a telephone harassment complaint regarding a woman texting the complainant’s wife since midnight. The complainant and his wife advised the woman alleged she received a call from them but they never called the person’s phone. Later an officer contacted the woman who was advised of the complaint and to cease contact with the complainant.
– At 2:37 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1900 block of Fairview Court regarding a report of a water leak and learned a neighbor was draining their pool.
– At 12:03 a.m. Friday police responded to the 600 block of E. 6th Street for a loud music complaint and police advised the person to turn the music down.
– At 5:12 p.m. Friday, police made a traffic stop on W. Wilson Street near the railroad tracks and charged Shannon L. Curing, 663 W. Wilson St. with a turn signal violation and for driving under suspension.
– At 7:36 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1800 block of E. State Street and took a personal property accident report that remains under investigation.
– At 7:46 p.m. Friday, police charged Anna Robinson, 536 Walnut St., C, with domestic violence and resisting arrest after people that officers spoke with said she assaulted a man causing visible injuries and she refused to follow police commands. She was taken to the county jail.
– Police responded to the 1700 block of E. State Street at 11:32 p.m. Friday, regarding a report of a man yelling at the complainant. The person was gone when police arrived.

– A resident in the 400 block of Washington Street reported at 12:22 p.m. Friday that a bucket of hand tools were stolen from the garage.
– Two syringes were found in the front yard by the sidewalk in front of Jalisco’s, 2488 E. State St. at 12:05 p.m. Friday. An officer properly disposed of the syringes.
– A traffic signal malfunction was reported in the city at 10:44 a.m. Friday, with the city electrician contacted to check it out. The light cycled but took a little longer.
– A resident in the 200 block of Park Avenue reported at 10:20 a.m. Friday that sometime over the past two days, someone broke out the left rear side window of a vehicle on the property. Nothing was missing.
– Open burning was reported at 9:45 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue. An officer determined the burning was legal. A person was burning twigs in a barrel at the rear of the property.
– A woman in the 200 block of East Fourth Street reported a dispute at 7:43 a.m. Friday, saying that her live-in boyfriend would not let her leave with their baby. She had just returned home from work and they had an argument over Facebook stuff. The male told police he could leave. He didn’t want her and the baby out in the cold and didn’t like where she was going anyway. Officers told both of them to just keep it down and work it out without yelling. They both said they would.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 2:10 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Broadway where the vehicle was located still parked with no one inside. Officers stayed in the area until the vehicle left and followed it through town. The driver did not commit any driving violations and parked at a residence.
– An alarm activated in the 1400 block of Quaker Court at 12:33 a.m. Friday. All the perimeter doors and windows appeared secure.
– A caller at 10:39 p.m. Thursday reported dogs barking inside an apartment building in the 800 block of East Third Street. Police saw two dogs barking inside the rear apartment, but there was no response at the door. The caller was told to contact the landlord. Another attempt would be made to contact the owner.
– A man in the 500 block of East Sixth Street reported Internet harassment at 10:27 p.m. Thursday, saying his address was given out over social media and he was getting some vulgar messages. At 8:49 p.m., he had reported various items stolen out of his house. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, with the incident under investigation.
– Anthony Rhodes, of Lisbon, reported at 9:19 p.m. Thursday that he left his shoes under the bleachers at a facility in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue and someone unknown took them. He was told his options. The manager will review video surveillance.
– Personnel at Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., reported at 7:40 p.m. Thursday that a person walked away from the emergency room. The person was located in the 1700 block and was told the ER staff wanted him to return due to his condition. After returning him to the hospital, officers stood by for several minutes until the man calmed down.
– A woman on West Wilson Street reported at 7:40 p.m. Thursday that a juvenile ran away from him after being caught using tobacco. While speaking with police, she was contacted by a family member who said the juvenile went to their home. Officers and the mother responded to the location and the juvenile was advised of the possible consequences to his actions.
– A man from South Union Avenue came to the police station at 7:37 p.m. Thursday regarding a parking ticket. He was told to come back when the issuing officer was working.
– A juvenile problem/missing juvenile was reported at 7:21 p.m. Thursday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue. Officers located the vehicle beside his apartment building. His mother said he wouldn’t listen to her and she was told her options.
– Officers checked the exterior of a business in the 1400 block of Quaker Court at 5:58 p.m. Thursday after an alarm, but found it secure.
– A caller at 5:53 p.m. Thursday reported a disorderly/irate person in the 100 block of West State Street. The person was located on West Pershing Street, voluntarily intoxicated. He said he had a verbal dispute with a person he knows and while speaking with him, officers noticed several cuts on his arm. They asked him about the cuts and he said he cut himself and wanted to die. He was voluntarily transported to the hospital for evaluation.
– Police responded at 5:38 p.m. Thursday to Maple and Washington for a report of a young juvenile in the road alone. The juvenile was located with a guardian and everything was fine.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 5:19 p.m. Thursday in the alley behind the Powerhouse Cafe on South Broadway Avenue, but nothing suspicious was observed.
– A caller at 5:15 p.m. Thursday reported an intoxicated person walking erratically along North Ellsworth Avenue. While checking the area, an officer saw a man sitting on a porch on West Eighth Street. He said he was the person walking and was fine.
– A caller at 4:20 p.m. Thursday reported a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner by a possible intoxicated driver in the 2800 block of East State Street. The vehicle was found legally parked and unoccupied. No violations were observed.
– An asset protection employee at Walmart, 2875 E. State St., reported seeing two juveniles conceal merchandise on themselves and attempt to exit the store without paying at 4:16 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke to the juveniles and advised them to contact their parents. The two juveniles were taken into custody and immediately released to their parents.
– A dog at large was reported at 11:51 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Jennings Avenue. A dog matching the description was found in a yard, but the female there said it was not her dog and her dog had been going crazy with the dog out in the yard. She thought it belonged on Jennings. The dog had been there a week or so ago also. The dog wouldn’t let anyone catch it and was staying at the northeast corner of Jennings and Second. The humane officer was contacted.

– Stanley Fishback, of the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at 7:37 p.m. Thursday that sometime in the past two weeks, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took loose change and pre-paid gas cards from inside. He reported it now after finding the card holder and some other cards in his front yard near the road and recalled the change missing and the interior amiss a few weeks ago. He thought the item had just been misplaced. The loss was estimated at $50.
– Police responded at 5:46 p.m. Thursday to a complaint of unruly juveniles in the 600 block of Stewart Road involving seven children between the ages of 7 and 12 residing in one residence. An officer was asked to speak to the children and explain the consequences of their actions if they continue to disobey parental controls.
– Police responded to the rear parking lot of the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 12:36 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man stuck under a vehicle. Officers, along with Perry Township and Salem fire departments, arrived and found that 55-year-old Charles Dorff of West Perry Street was attempting to change the brakes on a 2003 Chrysler when the jack he was using failed and the vehicle fell onto his left leg, causing a minor injury. He had the vehicle removed from his leg by a friend with another jack prior to first responders arriving. He was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG Ambulance for further evaluation.
– Don Stapleton, of the 1100 block of East 11th Street, reported at 10:33 a.m. Thursday that he’s been finding trash on the street in front of his residence and on his lawn and driveway. He usually just picks it up and throws it away, but he wanted officers to see the litter. He picked up the items and threw them in his trash can.
– Police were asked at 10:18 a.m. Thursday to be on the lookout for a silver 2004 Kia that was eastbound on U.S. Route 62 and had been involved in a hit/skip accident in Alliance. The vehicle was not located.
– A woman in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at Salem Acres reported at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday that her child was pushed down at the bus stop by an older child and she asked an officer to speak with the child and parent after her attempt failed. An officer spoke with the involved juveniles and parents. The children were advised to leave each other alone.
-Police and the Perry Township fire department responded to the 1200 block of Hampton Place for a report of a possible gas leak at the residence at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday. A man at the residence reported striking a gas line while digging in a flower bed behind the residence. Columbia Gas was notified and requested to respond. The fire department remained on scene until the gas company arrived.

– Police went to 533 Terre Verde at 6:39 p.m. Thursday after receiving a call from both Ed and Susan Mochnach that there was a dispute going on as Susan was gathering her belongings. Police spoke with both Ed and Susan and it was determined no crime had occurred.

– A Louisville woman called at 4:39 a.m. Thursday to request police check the 1800 block of East State Street for her father driving a Chevy truck, reporting he had been driving around lost for an extended period of time and GPS on the truck showed him driving in Salem. Officers located the truck and her father pulling out of the Circle K East parking lot at 1125 E. State St. and initiated a stop. The woman’s father confirmed he was lost. He was elderly and she asked police to stay with him until family could come from Louisville to pick him up. Officers parked his truck and secured it in the Circle K parking lot and transported him to the police station where his daughter picked him up.
– Police were dispatched at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday to the area of East Seventh Street and East School Street for a dog barking excessively. An officer saw the dog and made contact with the owner who said she was bringing the dog inside.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday in the area of West State Street and Georgetown Road, but the vehicle was not found.
– Police were called at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday to the Salem Plaza parking lot on East State Street for a report of soliciting. Officers made contact with the people at a Mikel Knight bus and advised them they needed a permit to solicit. They said they would stop soliciting and move on. According to social media, Mikel Knight is a country rap artist who has teams of traveling sales people selling his CDs across the country.
– An officer responded at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday to the 1700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a civil matter and spoke to the person who called police and another male involved. Both were given their options for dealing with the situation.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 5:53 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Third Street where a man said a juvenile was shooting a BB gun in an alley near some houses. Officers noted no damage to any of the homes and made contact with the juvenile. He was advised not to shoot the BB gun within the city limits.
– A caller at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday reported an ATV in the road in the area of East Fourth Street and Rose Avenue. Officers made contact with the person and told him not to ride in the road.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday on East State Street crossing over the center line westbound from Lincoln Avenue. An officer checked State Street from Lincoln to Jennings Avenue and did not find the vehicle.
– An upset male was reported at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express, 240 N. Cunningham Road. The male left before police arrived.

– A Williams Street, Beloit, resident reported at 9:57 a.m. April 4 that her wallet had been taken out of her vehicle overnight.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 11000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 10:15 a.m. April 4 and determined it to be accidental.
– An officer responded to a Fourth Street, Beloit, home at 7:33 p.m. April 4 where the resident reported being harassed by his sister over the phone. An officer returned the following afternoon where the resident said his sister’s roommate on Oakwood Drive was going to sell his iPad.
– An officer responded to a downed cable line in the middle of Seacrist Road just north of U.S. Route 62 at 7:12 a.m. April 7.
– An officer assisted Green Township first responders with a medical issue at a 9000 block U.S. Route 62 business in Green Township at 4:38 p.m. April 7.
– An officer responded to an Egypt Road home at 7 p.m. April 7 where the resident reported juveniles damaging his roof. Officers responded to the home for the same kind of report the subsequent two days.
– An officer responded to a Cedarwood Drive, Beloit, home at 7:27 p.m. April 7 where the resident reported her ex-husband has been stalking her for four years and recently noticed that her key was missing from her keychain, later to find lying on her bed the next day. She said she believes her ex-husband has been entering her home and that she can no longer stand the situation.
– Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on state Route 165 near Seacrist Road at 9:54 a.m. April 9 in which Samantha J. Hoebeke, 26, Alliance, lost control of her vehicle in drifted snow and slush, traveling off the right side of the roadway, striking a culvert and overturning. Hoebeke was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital for possible injuries. No citations were issued.
– Timothy Lee Kampfer, 32, Leetonia, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash at 9:37 p.m. April 9 in Goshen Township in which he was southbound on state Route 45 near Golden Lantern Drive when he traveled off the roadway and into a yard. No injuries were reported.
– An officer assisted Sebring police with a possible overdose in the 16000 block of Pine Lake Road at 1:30 p.m. April 10.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 11000 block of Stratton Road at 10:10 p.m. April 10 and determined it to be a false alarm.
LISBON
– Police were called to the Circle K at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in regard to a suspicious person hanging around outside. Police spoke with the man, who said he was waiting for a ride. Police remained until the man’s ride arrived and he left.
COLUMBIANA
– Todd Szabo of Boardman reported at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday that while exchanging child custody with his ex the night before at the state Route 7 and 14 intersection there was a verbal dispute.
– A woman reported at 8:32 a.m. Wednesday a large fully loaded green dump truck with a white cab was blowing whatever was in the back all over the road on old state Route 164. Police checked the area but didn’t see the vehicle or any debris in the road.
– A woman reported at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday she could hear a loud argument going on at a home on North Pearl Street but wasn’t sure exactly where it was coming from. Police found the people arguing and there were no other problems.

SALEM
– Logan J. Stancato, 18, of 1026 E. Fourth St., was charged with theft after police found merchandise from Circle K in his backpack early Wednesday morning. Police were initially called at 3:47 a.m. to the area of East Fourth Street and Hawley Avenue for a possible intoxicated male with a backpack and hat riding a bicycle. A man matching the description was found inside Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., and identified as Stancato. The report said he gave consent to search his backpack and officers located numerous items of merchandise, which he admitted to stealing. The stolen property was photographed and returned to Circle K, valued at $41.20. Stancato was processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail. The report said additional charges are pending.
– A woman from the 200 block of East Third Street reported at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday that her cell phone had been taken off a table from work and when she tried to call her phone, the phone number had been changed. She was told her options.
– Police responded at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday to Waterworth Memorial Park off of Sunset for a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located and the occupants identified. They said they were looking for somebody and one of the occupants had a relative who resided nearby. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary.
– Police were called at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of East State Street for a report of a person on the sidewalk with an open container of alcoholic beverage. An officer contacted the male who was no longer on the sidewalk but acknowledged he stepped out of a nearby liquor permit premises momentarily while holding his beverage. He was told to remain inside with any alcoholic beverage and acknowledged that the rules pertaining to the liquor permit were posted on the front of the business.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of East State Street and Woodland Avenue, but the vehicle was not located.
– A woman spoke with officers at the police station at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday regarding fraud. The report said there had been charges on a bank card used for a school organization. The bank had already been contacted regarding the matter.
– A dispute was reported at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East Euclid Street. Officers arrived and the woman who called police left the scene. Nothing was observed.
– A possible water line break was reported at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East Fourth Street, but an officer who checked the area did not see any water line break in the street.
– A woman in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday that the neighbor’s dog has been barking since 10 a.m. The dog was in a kennel on the back porch and barking when an officer arrived. No one was home at the time. A warning card was left on the back door pertaining to barking dogs.
– A fight was reported at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of East Fourth Street. Police found the area clear but located a group of boys in the 100 block of East Third Street who said they were wrestling and all were friends. Officers had talked with them earlier and all was fine.
– An employee of a store in the 500 block of East State Street reported at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday that a male entered the store, grabbed a pair of shoes off the shelf and then went upstairs with the shoes and came back downstairs without the shoes. The employee believed the male stole the shoes by hiding them underneath his jacket. He wasn’t on the scene when officers arrived. The incident is under investigation.
– An officer on patrol at 9:56 a.m. Tuesday saw a suspicious vehicle parked on South Lundy Avenue near Deming Street and noted that cars don’t usually park there. A check of the vehicle found it was reported stolen from a Summit Street residence on Monday. A detective and the owner responded and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
COLUMBIANA
– A City Hall employee reported at 10 a.m. Tuesday a semi went off the road making large ruts in the grassy area in front of the Church of Christ on state Route 14.
– The sheriff’s office reported at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday there was a three vehicle accident on state Route 517 at Lower Elkton Road. The highway patrol is handling the crash and Columbiana police and fire provided assistance at the scene.
– Frederick Welshanns, West Southern Street, reported at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday Bobcat equipment was parked in the road on North Pearl Street posing a traffic hazard.
– A woman reported at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday there was a suspicious woman walking along South Avenue near the bowling alley. Police checked but did not find the woman.
LISBON
– Cameron L. Crowl, 18, state Route 45, Lisbon, was cited for failure assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle operated by Alice J. Boone, 55, Signal Road, Columbiana, on East Lincoln Way at 11:16 a.m. Tuesday.
– Theft charges were filed against Robert R. Vecchio, 51, state Route 164, Lisbon, after he reportedly stole a 24-ounce can of Milwaukee’s Best beer from Smith Oil. He reportedly tried to do so again on April 9 and was told never to come back. Vecchio’s brother arrived three days later and made restitution on his behalf.
– Police were called to the Rite Aid at 12:47 p.m. March 30 about a theft of drugs, resulting in misdemeanor theft charges being filed against Michael F. Lewis, 32, Caldwell Avenue, Lisbon. Police did not say in the report what exactly Lewis allegedly stole.
– No charges wee filed from a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Garfield and Sherman streets at 7:48 a.m. Tuesday. Melissa R. Rhodes, 31, Sunset Drive, was making a left turn into Garfield Street when Frank E. Morrell, 18, Roller Coaster Road, reportedly failed to yield, striking Rhodes’ SUV on the side.
– Police responded to the panic alarm going off at the Hornsby House, Rose Drive, at 12:15 a.m. April 5 and spoke with the night employee, who said it was accidentally activated.
– Sandra Smith reported leaving her wallet laying on a table while getting her library card out at the Lepper Library on Monday and when she returned it was gone. There was only one other person in there at the time and she saw the baby stroller in a yard behind the library, but the woman who answered the door did not see anyone pick up her wallet.

– A man making a delivery at Super USA, 1680 S. Lincoln Ave., at 5:16 a.m. Tuesday called police after seeing damage at the building. Officers responded and discovered someone broke out the drive-thru window on the north side of the building, possibly with some type of bat or club. The owners responded and the interior was checked with nothing reported missing or stolen at the time of the report. An investigation was pending.
– An officer on patrol at 1:34 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West Fifth Street saw an illegally parked vehicle and contacted the owner, telling him the vehicle needed to be moved or he would receive a parking citation. The owner moved the vehicle into a driveway.
– Loud music was reported at 12:06 a.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue where officers asked a resident who was watching television to turn it down.
– Police received information from an anonymous source at 11:27 p.m. Monday regarding drug activity. The information will be forwarded to a Columbiana County Drug Task Force agent.
– An altercation was reported at 10:15 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Officers learned a resident invited a friend over and they got into a verbal dispute and were preparing to fight. Another resident was upset about their behavior and wanted the guest to leave. Officers spoke with the persons involved and the guest voluntarily went home to avoid further problems.
– Officers responded at 10:08 p.m. Monday to the 1100 block of West Perry Street to assist Perry Township Police with a domestic in progress. Officers arrived and found the people had departed. Perry Township Police arrived on the scene and the city officers cleared.
– A medical assist was requested at 9:57 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Franklin Avenue. Fire department first responders and KLG came on the scene and a woman was transported by KLG.
– Police responded at 9:46 p.m. Monday to the Cranmer bridge overpass on West State Street after a caller reported seeing a man sitting on the railing. Officers checked the entire length of the bridge railing and the area surrounding the bridge and found nobody.
– A caller from the 900 block of Orchard Bend at 9:02 p.m. Monday reported a vehicle driving through the fields. Police were unable to locate the vehicle involved.
– An anonymous caller at 7:39 p.m. Monday reported an open window at a vacant building at the northeast corner of Penn Avenue and East State Street. An officer located the window which was accessible from ground level and made entry into the building through the window. A second officer responded and assisted in searching the interior of the building. Everything appeared in order. Officers were able to secure the window and door.
– Amanda Swanson, 26, of 1270 Southeast Boulevard, was cited for a minor misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 5:49 p.m. Monday at Jennings Avenue and West Ninth Street.
– A vehicle was reported stolen at 5:50 p.m. Monday from a driveway in the 700 block of Summit Street. The owner said the 2013 maroon Ford Escape had been taken between 1:30 and 5 p.m. The theft is under investigation.
– A domestic dispute in a vehicle was reported at 4:44 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of West State Street. No vehicles matching the description were found.
– An officer at 4:35 p.m. Monday spoke with a victim from the 400 block of East School Street regarding fraud and gathered information on suspects. The case will be turned over to detectives.
– A man in the 100 block of West Pershing Street reported at 3:11 p.m. Monday that his ex-girlfriend has been texting and harassing him over their children. He wanted it documented.
– A female fell in her residence on Superior Avenue at 2:34 p.m. Monday. Fire department first responders and EMT arrived to assist and she was taken to the hospital.
– Police were asked at 2:24 p.m. Monday to check the well-being of a man in the 2000 block of Monroe Street who made threats of harming himself. Officers were unable to make contact.
– A woman came to the station at 2:02 p.m. Monday with a driver’s license she found while walking. The license will be kept at the station until the owner can be found.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 1:02 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Cedar Street. A woman said a blue Chevy Cavalier was sitting outside her residence and she wanted officers to check it out. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver who said she just pulled over to check her phone and was leaving.
– A downed cable wire was reported at 12:54 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Park Avenue. The wire was low hanging but not a traffic hazard.
– A possible scam was reported at 12:15 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of East Euclid Street. A woman said a male called from a restricted number identifying himself as an officer of the sheriff’s department. She said he hold her he had a summons to serve her and read her social security number and date of birth to her. The officer told the resident the incident appeared to be a scam.
– A male with dementia walked away from a home on Ohio Avenue and his family could not find him, contacting police at 9:16 a.m. Monday. As information was gathered, an officer on patrol found the man in the 200 block of South Lundy Avenue. The family responded to pick him up.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street for an unwanted person at 9:58 p.m. Monday. Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the area on Georgetown Road and spoke with a woman sho said she was trying to break up a fight between her boyfriend and her brother. Police also spoke to both males who said they got into a physical altercation. Neither party wanted to pursue the matter.
– A DVR receiver was found on the side of the road in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 6:47 p.m. Monday.
– A reckless driver was reported swerving off and on the road on Pine Lake Road at 6:43 p.m. Monday. Police made contact with the driver who said he was taking pictures of his dogs. He was told to stop using his telephone while driving to prevent future problems.
– A resident in the 1100 block of Stewart Road reported fraud at 5:49 p.m. Monday, saying an account was opened with a law group using her name. They wanted a report on file.
– A Girard man reported at 3:18 p.m. Monday that a resident on Maryland Avenue requested insurance information and when he arrived at the residence, the homeowner ordered him off the property. The matter is under investigation.
– A caller at 10:37 a.m. Monday reported a reckless tractor trailer on U.S. Route 62 at North Ellsworth Avenue. The truck was found and followed, with no violations observed.
COLUMBIANA
– A Beechwood Drive woman reported at 2:28 p.m. Monday there was a gas smell in her trailer. The fire department was notified.
– Natalia Rodriguez, South Main Street, reported at 3:26 p.m. Monday someone kicked in her door and stole some items.
– Annette Leach, Camelot Drive, reported at 4:29 p.m. Monday a man she knows was going around looking inside vehicles at her apartment parking lot the night before.
– A man reported at 10:46 p.m. Monday there was a suspicious vehicle parked by a house that was under construction in the area of Juniper and Bittersweet drives. Police checked and found that the owner was picking up the vehicle from a prior incident.

– Russell Clifford Legg, 18, Youngstown, was arrested on an active warrant out of the department by Austintown police and turned over at 5 p.m. Friday.
– Randy O. Maurer, 53, 9450 S. Pricetown Road, Berlin Center, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after officers responded to his home at 1:41 a.m. Saturday for a report of a possible physical fight. Officers determined that Maurer had been in a fight with his girlfriend in which he punched her in the mouth. Damascus EMTs responded to evaluate the girlfriend, but had to transport her to the Salem hospital due to her intoxication.
LISBON
– An EMT from an ambulance company contacted police at 2:20 a.m. Friday after getting a call from a North Market Street man, who was threatening to kill black people. Police arrived at the residence and spoke to the man, who was drunk and said he needed to go to the hospital because he was hearing voices in his head. An ambulance was summoned to transport him.
– Police responded to a report of someone yelling on North Vine Street near Smith Oil at 10:22 p.m. Friday and arrived to find a drunken woman outside her residence. She was told to go inside, and to keep quiet, which she did.
– Police accompanied the fire department in response to a possible fire in a room at the Days Inn at 6:22 p.m. Saturday. While there was no fire, police did detect the odor of marijuana having been smoked. Police waited for the occupants to return, one of whom, Nicole Scott, said the marijuana belonged to her. Scott, 32, of Sandusky, was charged with marijuana possession.
– A caller reported at 3:47 p.m. Saturday a suspicious vehicle had been parkedon Washington Sreet for a half hour. Police spoke to the driver, who said she was waiting for her daughter, who was attending a birthday party in one of the homes. As police were speaking to the mother, the daughter arrived.
– A resident at 40828 state Route 154 reported someone was looking at his home with binoculars at 7:34 p.m. Saturday. Police determined the person in question was a resident of the nearby Kendall House but he denied looking into the home and claimed it was all a misunderstanding.

– A reckless operator was reported at 11:16 a.m. Monday on East State Street in a red Honda swerving all over the road. The vehicle was not located.
– An alarm was reported at 9:37 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Highland Avenue. A female on scene identified herself as the housekeeper, which was confirmed by the homeowner.
– An alarm was reported at 8:31 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Stone Castle Trail where police spoke with a pair of people who said they were installing insulation but were at the wrong address. A homeowner in the 1400 block confirmed they were installing insulation for him.
– An officer on patrol at 1:13 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue noticed a parked vehicle at a closed business. The vehicle was unoccupied and legally parked.
– A woman in the 500 block of West Sixth Street reported at 10:42 p.m. Sunday that she just returned home and found the side door to her residence wide open and the heat turned all the way up. The door was left unlocked but nothing was taken. There was no sign of forced entry.
– Officers at 8:50 p.m. Sunday spoke with a female in reference to a report from earlier in the day and documented the new information.
– Police were called at 9:01 p.m. Sunday to a local restaurant at 2870 E. State St. for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. A silver pickup had been sitting in the lot for some time. The vehicle was not occupied.
– A caller at 6:23 p.m. Sunday requested police in the Walmart parking lot for a suspicious person, saying a man made a gun gesture with his hand and pointed at her. Police didn’t locate him.
– Police responded at 5:17 p.m. Sunday to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard for a person in distress with an ambulance needed. Officers spoke with the person who said she wanted to go to the hospital. Fire department first responders and an ambulance company arrived and she was transported to the emergency room.
-Kathryn Ann Matheson, 21, of 150 Moore St., Lisbon, was charged with theft, a misdemeanor, after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 4:13 p.m. Sunday for a shoplifting incident. An asset protection employee reported seeing a female conceal merchandise on her person and walk out without paying. She was processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– A woman came to the police station at 1:41 p.m. Sunday to turn in a debit card found in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Contact was attempted with the owner. The property was placed in the lost and found.
– A man at 12:38 p.m. Sunday turned in a debit card found in the ATM at Farmers National Bank, 2424 E. State St. The card was placed in the police lost and found until the owner can be found.
– A resident in the 1200 block of Eastview Drive reported at 10:08 a.m. Sunday that he found woman’s coat in his yard Sunday morning. The coat was placed in evidence for safekeeping until the owner is located.
PERRY TWP.
– A woman in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:25 a.m. Sunday advised of a domestic dispute the previous evening and the other party threatening to harm himself. She requested information and options. The other party was not present.
– An officer on patrol at 7:59 a.m. Sunday saw an open gate at Salem Security Storage on Lake Avenue and no one inside the property. A message was left for the business owner about the gate malfunction.
– A loose dog was reported at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Cunningham Road, but was not found.
– A caller at 6:57 a.m. Thursday reported a dog laying in a ditch in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue that appeared to be injured and muddy. An officer arrived and located the animal that was found to be just cold and wet. The golden retriever did have a collar but no tags. The Salem humane officer took the animal to her shop on Prospect Street.
– A resident in the 1100 block of West Perry Street called police at 1:40 a.m. Thursday about an upstairs neighbor running a vacuum and being noisy. Police found the offending apartment quiet and attempted contact but received no response.

– Officers responded to an 1100 block East State Street business at 4:38 p.m. Saturday where the clerk reported a man was yelling at her and other customers. The man appeared to be suffering from a medical condition, so first responders and an ambulance were requested. The man was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.
– Craig M. Cross, 32, 335 W. Pershing St., Salem, was cited for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Saturday.
– Officers responded to a report of a fight at a bar in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Sunday and found that the individuals involved had already separated. Officers spoke with the individuals and determined that a verbal altercation between a man and woman had escalated into pushing and shoving. They were told to stay away from each other.
– An officer responded to a 1200 block East Pershing Street home at 2:49 a.m. Sunday where the resident said a man who had been staying with him had left a bicycle there and he did not want to be accused of taking it.
– An officer responded to an alarm activation at a 100 block East State Street business at 3:12 a.m. Sunday and found everything to be secure.
– A woman reported her daughter’s ex-boyfriend had sent her text messages threatening to harm himself. An officer contacted the man by phone and he said that he was at a friend’s house and okay. Officers attempted to contact the man at the friend’s house with negative results, to which the man contacted officers and said that they had stopped by his brother’s house, reaffirming that he was okay.
– Officers responded to the area of Eastview Avenue and East 15th Street at 5:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious persons walking through yards, but were unable to find the people.
– Officers responded to a 1700 block Meadowview Drive home at 6:06 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone had entered two vehicles on the property- one in the driveway and one in the garage. The vehicle owner, who was not home at the time, said multiple tools and a stereo amp were taken from the truck in the driveway.
Columbiana
– A caller reported someone in a 2001 Dodge pickup truck was driving in a reckless manner at 10:16 p.m. Saturday and just pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot. An officer arrived and stopped the motorist, who appeared to be having trouble pulling the heavy load.
– Leetonia police requested help with a fight that reportedly occurred at an underage drinking party allegedly going on at 489 Columbia St. at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. The people involved were leaving by the time police arrived, and so did the officer.
Lisbon
– The following people were cited for driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone on state Route 154 at Bluff Street: Samuel L. Slick, 25, of West Newton, Pa., at 10:25 a.m. Sunday; Sandra S. Stach, 46, of Parma, at 5:17 p.m. Saturday; and Lilly A. Suhody, 19, of Pittsburgh, at 10:53 a.m. Friday.

– Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Cunningham and Butcher Roads at 5:42 p.m. Thursday in which Christine M. Buffone, 47, Leetonia, was southbound and Peter G. Poly, 68, Salem, was westbound and both pulled from the stop signs, colliding. Buffone was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued.
– Carleen M. Bechtel, 22, Columbiana, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of East State Street at 12:17 p.m. Friday in which she was eastbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Chin F. Herrod, 46, Lisbon. No injuries were reported.
– Haley A. Knoedler, 21, Columbiana, was cited for improper backing following a two-vehicle crash on Carbon Street at South Lincoln Avenue at 3:56 p.m. Friday in which she was stopped westbound and began backing up to make room for another motorist, striking another westbound vehicle driven by David G. Thomas, 60, Salineville. No injuries were reported.
– Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 4:06 p.m. Friday where a semi truck had struck a utility pole, causing the wires to come loose. The fire department responded to check on the wires. The truck had left, but witnesses provided the company name and vehicle registration. An officer contacted the company to report the incident.
– A Salem resident reported at 5:23 p.m. Friday that a belonging had been taken from her vehicle while it was being worked on at an East State Street business in December.
– Officers responded to a 2900 block East State Street business at 5:45 p.m. Friday for a report of three unoccupied juveniles in a vehicle. The vehicle was gone prior to officers’ arrival.
– Police responded to a 2500 block East State Street business at 7:04 p.m. Friday where a woman reported a book of stamps and $42 that was in her purse inside her vehicle.
– Officers responded to a verbal dispute in a front lawn in the 200 block of Washington Avenue at 7:36 p.m. Friday. Both individuals involved said it was just a verbal argument and one of them got a ride and left.
– Officers responded to an 800 block Sunset Boulevard home at 9:35 p.m. Friday where the resident reported someone had entered two vehicles in the driveway and two in an attached garage, taking some change and a purse.
– Officers responded to a fight in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:11 a.m. Saturday, but found everyone involved had left prior to the officers’ arrival.
– Police responded to a fight in the 500 block of Aetna Street at 3:22 a.m. Saturday and found several individuals in a verbal altercation. The resident said he became upset with a guest after the guest made a comment about his daughter, and that now he wanted the guest to leave.
– An officer responded to the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:43 a.m. Saturday in reference to a man dressed all in black clothing with a red bag attempting to enter vehicles. The officer was unable to find the man.
– An officer observed an open car door in the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 8:10 a.m. Saturday. The owner was not concerned and asked that the door be closed.
– A Franklin Street resident reported computer fraud at 9:49 a.m. Saturday.
– Police responded to an alarm activation at 500 block East State Street business at 10:33 a.m. Saturday and found everything secure.
– Officers performed a wellbeing check on a Jefferson Avenue elderly woman who was not answering her telephone at 11:22 a.m. Saturday. The officers found her to be okay.
– An officer responded to a report of a man stealing a stop sign at Robin Avenue and Whinnery Road at 1:22 p.m. Saturday. The officer was unable to find the man. An new sign was ordered.
Columbiana
-At 2:23 a.m. Friday, a report was called in that a black Jeep Cherokee was allegedly being driven without the owner’s consent. The vehicle was recovered later.
-Ed Mochnach, Tierre Verde Avenue, reporting having a domestic dispute with his ex-wife at 7:43 a.m. Friday. She took his truck keys. Officers cleared the situation. Both parties refused to press charges.
-At 9:10 a.m. Friday, a large object wrapped in a sheet was laying in the lane on Park Ave. The item was removed.
-A tree limb was blocking the roadway on state Route 46 near the plaza at 4:28 a.m. Saturday. Officers found the limb blocking the southbound lane and called ODOT.

– Police responded to the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:49 a.m. for a report of a vehicle being egged. The people were identified and a statement was forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.
– At 4:58 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1800 block of Whinnery Road for a suspicious person report and located an elderly man in front of a residence with little clothing on. He was cold and confused and not making sense and when his wife was contacted she requested that he be transported to the hospital.
– Police responded to the 1300 block of East State Street at 5:22 a.m. Friday and while investigating a suspicious vehicle found that a woman inside a nearby residence had suffered a right ankle injury outside an establishment in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue when she was pushed by a known female. The woman was transported to the hospital and did not wish to pursue charges.
– At 10:22 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1100 block of East State Street for a hit skip accident in the parking lot. The complainant was at the gas pump when he driver’s side door was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Photos were taken and a report number was issued to her.
– At 9:38 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a report of a suspicious person walking around a residence with a flashlight and police were unable to locate anyone.
– Police responded to two addresses at 8:40 and 9:02 a.m. Thursday with Columbiana County deputies on outstanding warrant checks and while not locating anyone at a residence in the 200 block of Park Avenue, a wanted person was taken into custody in the 200 block of West Wilson Street.
– At 6:21 p.m. Thursday a local business owner was on station regarding another business that he said did not have the proper paperwork to be operating. He was advised that police would check into it and advise the proper agency.
– At 5:42 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Butcher and Cunningham Road intersection for a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by Christine Buffone, 574 Butcher Road, Leetonia, was south on Cunningham Road and stopped and the second vehicle operated by Peter Poly, 928 S. Union Ave., was west on Butcher Road and both proceeded into the intersection at the same time striking each other. Buffone was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. No citations were issued and both vehicles were towed away.
– A complainant from the 200 block of West 10th Street was on station at 4:17 p.m. Thursday regarding someone using their debit card in Cincinnati and Columbus. The complainant already canceled her credit cards and was given a report number.
– At 8:59 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the East State Street and Southeast Boulevard intersection after Columbiana police advised of a roll-off truck in the east end dragging a metal cable. The truck was located and the driver was made aware of the situation.
LISBON
– Police were called to a domestic dispute on Pine Street Extension at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, where Ian Wellington told them he had been assaulted by Kim Hayes, which she denied. Wellington said he was applying some stain to a swing set when he cut his finger on something sharp and called for Hayes to help. He said they began to argue and she struck him in the head, showing police a bleeding cut on his head. Hayes admitted arguing with Wellington but she said she went back inside and Wellington must have banged his head on the ground or something because she never touched him. When asked again what happened, Wellington said he was not sure but Hayes must have struck him with something. Wellington declined to press charges and advised police he was leaving
– Police were called to the Hornsby House on Rose Drive at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, where Jay Farrow reported Vickie Waite keeps coming onto his property. The staff said Waite is allowed on the property in question, and police told Farrow the next time to just retire to his room. Farrow began arguing with police and warned if he continued to cause problems for the staff he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.
– Police were asked to check on the well being of the residents at 469 E. Lincoln Way at 8:14 p.m. Thursday. Police arrived and found the child dressed for bed and the mother appeared to be fine and capable of caring for the child.
-The panic alarm was activated at the Hornsby House, Rose Drive, at 6:36 p.m. Monday. It turned out the alarm malfunctioned and was not activated by anyone.
-Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 4:30 p.m. Thursday after a woman reported her friend, who was visiting flipped out and began throwing food she had prepared for him. The friend said they had been napping when he got up and discovered she was wearing his underwear. She refused to give them back and they began to argue, with the man admitting he did push food on the floor. The man said he left after the woman acted like she wanted to punch him. Neither part wished to press charges.
– Devon Libert called at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday saying his son, Corey, was missing. Police later learned his son was at East Liverpool City Hospital and advised his father.
COLUMBIANA
– William D. Sherrill, 29, of Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Lisbon Street at 5 p.m. Thursday.
– Ken Witherow requested an officer accompany to a residence on Apache Lane to retrieve personal property at 7:24 p.m. Thursday.

LISBON
– A clerk from the Circle K called at 2:11 p.m. Monday to say she believed a vehicle parked in front of the outside ice machine was responsible for damaging and breaking the machine. She said the ice machine had a large dent in the side, which she believes was caused when someone pushed the disabled white vehicle into the parking space in front of the machine. Police checked the front of the car, which was undamaged, leading the officer to conclude the vehicle was not responsible.
– A barking dog complaint was received at 520 W. Washington St. at 4 a.m. Wednesday. Police located the barking dog and told the owner he needed to take his pet inside for the night.
SALEM
– A man came to the police department at 2:36 a.m. Thursday and said he was turning himself in on a warrant. He was checked for warrants, with none showing active, and was given a courtesy ride to a friend’s residence.
– An officer on patrol at 1:23 a.m. Thursday saw a woman walking down the eastbound lane of East State Street near Union Avenue and noted she appeared to be walking slowly and acting lethargic. Contact was made with her and her female friend nearby. The woman was acting odd and had a fresh wound to her right hand. She said she was upset with a situation at home and punched a glass window. She also took more than the prescribed dosage of a prescription medication. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance were summoned and she was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. The friend and the woman’s husband both said no violence occurred at the home.
– Loud music was reported from an upstairs apartment in the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 12:14 a.m. Thursday. The responding officer did not hear music. A television could be heard from inside the apartment building, but not loud enough to warrant a citation.
– A man in the 1100 block of East Third Street reported at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday that he was receiving suspicious messages on his phone. He was told everything seemed ok, but he could block the person sending the communications.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West 16th Street. Lights were on in a home believed to be empty. Officers checked the building and everything appeared ok. Police had also been called there at 8:22 a.m. the same day, with the property found secure and a light on inside the back of the residence.
– Police were called at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday to Walmart on East State Street for a shoplifter who fled the parking lot in a black Nissan. The assistant manager followed the people out and obtained the license plate from the vehicle the suspects used to rapidly depart. The people had been monitored inside the store by an asset protection associate who saw them select two items in the pharmaceuticals section before walking to the toy department where the merchandise was removed from the packaging. The store associate saw one of the two people conceal the items on themselves and then they walked to the front of the store and began to leave without paying. Both the associate and the assistant store manager confronted the people at the door regarding the merchandise, however, they argued and refused to wait for police, rapidly returned to their vehicle and fled. An officer reviewed surveillance footage and obtained photos of the suspects and vehicle. The person who concealed items was positively identified, with criminal charges pending.
– A dispute over property was reported at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Rose Avenue where a female involved claimed she was injured when a door shut on her hand. Both were told their options.
– An officer was flagged down at 7 p.m. Wednesday near North Union Avenue and East Third Street and asked to check the well-being of a female in the 1200 block of East Third where a witness saw a man enter a residence with a female and thought it appeared the male was being rough with her. Officers made contact with both parties and family members. There was no problem and nothing appeared out of the ordinary, with all in good spirits.
– A man from East Fourth Street reported at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday that he was receiving threatening phone calls. An officer gathered information on the possible suspect who left a recorded message. An attempt will be made to follow up with that person.
– A dog was reported at large on Arch Street at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday. A resident was able to catch the dog and it was secured at a business on Prospect Street for the city humane officer.
– A resident in the 800 block of East Fourth Street reported at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday that a dog was continually getting loose and running around. Officers were unable to make contact with the owner, but the dog was inside the residence at that time.
– A woman in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday that she received a package from Montgomery Ward which she had not ordered. The company reported receiving a postcard with supposedly her signature on it. She said it was not her and they were sending return slips and she’s not being charged. She had questions concerning her credit card and was told to contact the credit card company. Nothing had been charged to the card at that time.
– Police were called at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of East Third Street to check the well-being of a female thinking about harming herself. She told police she wasn’t receiving help from anyone and broke her rib earlier in the week. Fire department first responders and KLG were called and she was taken to the hospital.
– A property owner reported at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday that two renters left over the past weekend and they removed all the kitchen appliances, even the built-in ones, from the apartment. They were the original tenants from when the apartment building in the 900 block of West Wilson Street was built. The owner said he would contact his attorney.
– A woman on West Perry Street reported at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday that she received a harassing Facebook message. She said she contacted the felony investigation cyber crime unit and they were investigating, but told her to contact local police.
– Robert Kaufman, 79, of Salem, was cited for failure to yield after attempting to turn his vehicle east from a parking lot in the 500 block of East Second Street and getting struck by an eastbound vehicle on Second Street driven by Misty Baclawski, 32, of Canfield, at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday.
– Police responded at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of East Second Street for a parking complaint in a parking lot. The vehicle was moved.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– An officer responded to an alarm drop at 11249 state Route 165 at 10:29 p.m. March 29, but the alarm was canceled.
– An Oakwood Drive, Beloit, resident reported at 7:36 a.m. March 31 her neighbors were neglecting and abusing their dog. Animal charities were contacted but unable to contact the neighbors.
– Officers were made aware of a tree in the roadway in the 14000 block of Lisbon Road at 2:19 a.m. April 1. Green Township Fire Department removed the tree.
– Officers responded to a 7000 block Pleasant Valley Drive home at 8 a.m. April 1 for a court ordered standby.
– An alarm at a 13000 block Diagonal Road location kept setting itself off throughout the day on April 1.
– Officers were made aware of a tree in the roadway at state Route 534 and Middletown Road at 5:37 p.m. April 1. Damascus Fire Department removed the tree.
– Officers were made aware of a tree in the roadway at Green Beaver Road and state Route 46 at 5:40 p.m. April 1. Green Township Fire Department removed the tree.
– An officer responded to an alarm drop at the Canfield Industrial Park on Western Reserve Road at 11 p.m. April 2 and found all the buildings appearing to be secure and no footprints or tracks of any sort visible in the snow covered driveway.
– An officer responded to a 14000 block state Route 14 home at 4:15 a.m. Sunday in reference to unwanted telephone calls. The caller was unknown to the complainant, who said she was not threatened in any way.
– Police responded to a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 7:02 a.m. Sunday in which Rebecca L. Borosky, 28, New Springfield, was southbound in the 8000 block of state Route 14 and lost control of her vehicle, traveling into the ditch on the other side of the road. Borosky was transported by Green Township EMS to the Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries. No citations were issued.
– Jacob R. Cushman, 19, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 6000 block of West Calla Road at 7:40 a.m. Sunday in which he was westbound and lost control of his vehicle, traveling into a front yard and becoming stuck in the ditch while trying to back out onto the road.
– Officers responded to a domestic dispute at an 8000 block state Route 165 home at 4:17 p.m. Sunday and spoke with all people involved, one of whom agreed to leave the residence.

– Adriana Coleman of Rogers was in the McDonald’s drive-thru at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday and was struck from behind by Geraldine Morris of Lisbon. No citations were issued due to being on private property.
– Carly Swagger, Woodworth Road, New Springfield reported at 2:57 p.m. Wednesday Jeremiah Gallaher had been watching her dog and she wanted to pick it up but he was not wanting to give it back to her. Police accompanied Swagger to Gallaher’s home on South West Street and the dog was returned without any problems. At 3:50 p.m. Swagger reported Gallaher was threatening her on Woodworth Road, New Springfield since she contacted the police.
– Makayla Dickens reported at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday she was having trouble cashing a $4,000 check at the bank and wondered if it was a scam. Police told her it was a scam and that the check would not be able to be cashed.

PERRY TWP.
– Police responded at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a report of unwanted persons going through back yards. A female resident said she thought she heard people on her back porch and the neighbor’s front porch. Police searched the back yards and nobody was found.
– An officer on patrol at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday saw a large amount of smoke and the smell of a possible fire in the area. Houses and back yards in the neighborhood were checked, but the officer was unable to determine the source of the smoke.
– A domestic complaint between a mother and son was reported in the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday. Police determined the argument was verbal only and the son left for the night to a friend’s house down the street.
– Salem Police asked Perry Township officers to check on a neighbor dispute in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday due to not having any officers available at that moment. Township officers spoke with both parties and determined it was a verbal argument only. A short time later, Salem officers arrived and handled the call.
– Police and the Perry Township Fire Department responded to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a medical alert with the homeowner unable to respond. An officer found that family members arrived before police and the family member had fallen in the tub and was unable to get out. The family member refused any medical treatment.
– Kaley Brandle, 25, of Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead, no license and no seat belt after her southbound vehicle on state Route 9 struck the rear of another southbound vehicle driven by Dalton Kurtz, 23, of East Liverpool, who was stopped for a traffic signal on state Route 9 at the state Route 45 bypass at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday. Brandle refused treatment for a cut to the face.
– Police responded at 4:18 p.m. Monday to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a reported threatening message through Facebook. Police determined the message was not threatening and told the resident to ignore future messages from the person.
– A resident in the 1700 block of North Lincoln Avenue called at 10:59 a.m. Monday to report vandalism of a vehicle, but upon police arrival, the vehicle wasn’t available to be seen. The officer planned to check back later.
– Niki Madison, 30, of Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 10:47 a.m. Monday on East Pidgeon Road near Southridge Drive. The vehicle was towed due to no one having a valid operator’s license.
SALEM
– A man in the 1800 block of Pearce Circle reported at 6:16 a.m. Wednesday that he left his vehicle unlocked and someone went through it. Nothing appeared to be missing.
– An officer responded to Pennsylvania Avenue near the U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 bypass bridge at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday after a woman called to report seeing four deer jump over the bridge down onto Pennsylvania Avenue. She was on the bypass when she saw them jump and drove to Pennsylvania Avenue to check on them, finding two dead and reporting that two were injured. When the officer arrived, two were dead in the road and a third was found dead off of the road. The fourth deer was not found.
– A suspicious person was reported at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Second Street. Police made contact with the person who said she was looking for her friend and thought the car she was attempting to enter was her friend’s car. Officers saw nothing suspicious.
– Suspicious persons were reported at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday at Dunkin’ Donuts, 2823 E. State St., but when officers made contact with the people, they saw nothing suspicious.
– Police responded at 9:01 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of East Third Street where a juvenile allegedly took an excessive amount of prescription medication according to video and text messages sent to some of the juvenile’s friends. Officers made contact with the parents who were already aware of the circumstances and preparing to take the juvenile to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Police responded at 8:16 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of West Fifth Street to assist Alliance Police in locating a man with a warrant. Police assisted until the man was taken into custody.
– Police were called at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of Monroe where several concerned people reported their friend had threatened to harm himself and now they were unable to make contact with him. They believed he was in the apartment, but there was no response at the door or to phone calls. All the factors dictated a necessity to make entry into the apartment, which was locked, the report said. The fire department responded and assisted in gaining entry. The person was not home, but returned while police were still there and voluntarily was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for an evaluation.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard. An officer spoke with two parties and told them to stay away from each other. Perry Township Police responded initially due to Salem units being tied up.
– A caller at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday reported an intoxicated male sitting in his vehicle at Wendy’s, 2388 E. State Street, and they feared he may attempt to drive. Officers located the man still sitting in his vehicle and told him the consequences if he drives while intoxicated in the future. Officers made sure he had a ride home.
– A reckless driver was reported driving over a curb at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of East State Street near Tim Hortons. The caller provided a description and an officer saw the vehicle leaving the area, but was unable to get behind it due to heavy traffic. The officer responded to the registered owner’s residence and left a message with a family member to advise the person about the complaint.
– A water line leak was reported in a residence at 5:59 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of East Third Street where an officer spoke with a person and told him to contact his landlord about the leak.
– A 17-year-old Salem boy was cited for no license and ATV operation prohibited, along with being taken into custody on an active warrant for delinquency, after police were called at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a male driving an ATV recklessly through Centennial Park. The caller said he overheard the juveniles say they were going to a local business in the 2300 block of East State Street. Officers responded and located the ATV and its driver at Wendy’s where it was discovered the juvenile had the outstanding warrant out of Columbiana County. He was processed at the police station and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.
– A resident from the 1800 block of Oak Street came to the station at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday to advise officers of a theft from a vehicle. Various items were stolen from the vehicle overnight. Some property was later turned in at the station and then returned back to the owner.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Bronwen Alaine Price, 21, Leetonia, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 8000 block of state Route 14 at 8:49 p.m. April 1 in which she was eastbound and slammed on the brakes to avoid stopped traffic, losing control of her vehicle and traveling off the right side of the roadway into the ditch. No injuries were reported. Her passenger, Kenneth Tyler Smith, 31, 3372 Grafton Road, Leetonia, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County.
– Ronald Lee Roepke III, 25, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 12000 block of Kent Road at 6:10 a.m. April 2 in which he was westbound and failed to maintain control on a curve, traveling off the north side of the roadway and coming to rest against trees and brush in a field. No injuries were reported.
– Kevin Rivera, 21, Struthers, was cited for left of center and no driver’s license following a traffic stop at U.S. Route 62 and state Route 165 at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday.

SALEM
– Officers on patrol at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday noticed damage to a grass field in the 1100 block of East Ninth Street, presumably caused by a vehicle driving over it, the report said.
– Officers were dispatched at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of West 10th Street for a verbal altercation occurring inside a residence. Officers made contact with the people involved, who said they had an argument. A female decided she would leave for the rest of the evening and was provided transport by officers to a residence on West Fifth Street.
– Officers responded at 9:32 p.m. Monday to Salem Regional Medical Center and spoke with a man who said his father and stepmother were involved in an altercation and his father sustained a laceration to his finger and other minor injuries. The father provided conflicting accounts of what happened which resulted in his injuries and were related to his existing condition. Officers went to the residence and spoke with the stepmother who acknowledged the altercation with some differences in describing what happened. The next door neighbors were also contacted. The son was told to notify his parents’ doctor about the situation and seek further medical intervention. Arrangements were made for the father to stay elsewhere for the evening. The case will be sent to the prosecutor for review.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 6:40 p.m. Monday at Newgarden Avenue and Prospect Street but the vehicle was not found.
– A woman on Cleveland Street reported at 4:18 p.m. Monday that her juvenile son got into a fight with his 18-year-old friend at a Perry Township residence.
– Taylor Steeves, 19, of state Route 164, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after a three-vehicle accident at 3:57 p.m. Monday on East State Street at Park Drive. A vehicle driven by Steeves was westbound when she allegedly became distracted and failed to stop, striking the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Tracy McCreary, 44, of West Eighth Street, causing it to strike the rear of another westbound vehicle driven by Lucinda Willis, 58, of Depot Street, Rogers. Steeves and McCreary were each transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
– A vehicle was reported parked facing the wrong way in the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:51 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was moved before police arrived after officers were delayed due to a priority call.
– A junk vehicle tagged with a 10-day notice on March 24 was still on the property in question at 2:19 p.m. Monday and was towed away. The vehicle had no registration and had a block in front so it apparently had brake problems, a report said.
– A woman in the 600 block of Euclid Street reported harassment at 11:32 a.m. Monday, saying that a known female has been an issue for her and her family over a personal matter. She wanted the incident documented.
– A city housing inspector requested assistance at 11:23 a.m. Monday regarding towing a vehicle in the 500 block of Fair Avenue. The resident was given another day to take care of the problem.
– Officers at 11:06 a.m. Monday checked a residence in the 100 block of West Fourth Street for a vehicle and a female who was to have stayed there for the night. A concerned relative wanted officers to attempt contact with the female and have her contact him. The vehicle wasn’t there and there was no answer at the door.
– A resident in the 1400 block of East 10th Street reported at 1:25 p.m. Sunday that someone drove through his yard, causing damage.
COLUMBIANA
– New Waterford police requested Columbiana police stand by at a Boardman Street home at 3:20 a.m. Monday while their officers responded to a call.
– A man reported at 4:15 a.m. Monday a suspicious man was playing with the change machine at the car wash on North Main Street and was also walking around a vehicle that was waiting to be serviced at Newton’s. Police checked the area but did not find anyone acting suspicious.
– The county sheriff’s office reported at 11:17 a.m. Monday they received a report of a domestic at 114 Hawkins Lane and the man there was being very belligerent and verbally abusive when county dispatch called to check on the situation. Columbiana police went to the home and found no domestic violence occurred and that the dispute was only verbal. No charges were filed.
– Dikota Coleman, Spruce Street, reported at noon Monday people were at the home and would not leave. Police issued trespass warnings to Richard P. Smith of West Virginia and Danielle Simons of East Liverpool.
– Richard Elliot, 69, state Route 517, Columbiana, reported at 2:22 p.m. Monday that while southbound on Fairfield School Road his vehicle was struck by another vehicle that continued southbound and did not stop.
– Donald Owens, South Main Street, reported at 3:47 p.m. Monday items were taken from his apartment.
– Beaver Township police reported at 6:29 p.m. Monday there was a moving road rage incident on state Route 7 that moved into the city and both vehicles were stopped at Dunkin Donuts. Police spoke to both drivers and found that there were no traffic or criminal offense that occurred in the city and if there were any problems they should contact Beaver police.
– Benjamin Ratner, 30, East North Avenue, East Palestine, was cited for drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 11:23 p.m. Monday.

– Aimee Kemats, 51, of Allen Drive, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her eastbound vehicle ran into the back of another eastbound vehicle driven by Dustin Miller, 32, of Newport Ritchie, Fla., on East State Street near Roosevelt Avenue at 9:55 a.m. Monday. Miller and his passenger, Yvonne Moore, 74, of Beloit, were each taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG Ambulance for possible injuries.
– An open front door was reported at a business in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:46 a.m. Monday. Officers discovered the door was open and an interior sweep was conducted. All appeared to be in good order. The open door appeared to be the result of neglect. Officers secured the door.
– Marci M. Mancuso-Kirkpatrick, 31, whose last known address was 396 Columbia St., Leetonia, was taken into custody on a felony arrest warrant for tampering with evidence and also charged with resisting arrest, driving under suspension, speeding, a stop sign violation and no seat belt after a traffic stop at 9:37 p.m. Sunday on Brooklyn Avenue near East Third Street. An officer on patrol saw a moving violation on East State Street near Southeast Boulevard and after catching up to the vehicle, saw several more violations and initiated the stop. The driver was hiding their face and after seeing the person, the officer recognized she was wanted. The officer stopped the driver as she attempted to flee and while attempting to cuff her, she fled and resisted arrest, fighting with the officer once down on the ground. While at the police station, she claimed injury and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. The passenger, Melissa Demeo, 55, of 589 E. Third St., was charged with wrongful entrustment. Once the driver was released from the hospital, both women were taken to the Columbiana County jail. The vehicle was towed with a court hold.
– A woman in the 700 block of East Fifth Street reported at 9:07 p.m. Sunday that she witnessed a male and female enter her vehicle behind the apartment. They left before police arrived. Nothing was taken.
– A dispute was reported at 8:36 p.m. Sunday that appeared to be a civil matter. The two parties were told to stay away from each other for the night.
– A suspicious person was reported at 7:40 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Oak Street who was in the area on Friday. The caller reported a person in the area soliciting.
– Police were called to check the well-being of a resident in the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive. Officers were unable to make contact and requested the fire department to assist. Due to exigent circumstances, the fire department made entry to allow officers to make sure the resident wasn’t in need of medical assistance. Officers subsequently learned the resident was elsewhere and was ok. Officers secured the residence and advised the caller the resident was ok.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 6:08 p.m. Sunday on East State Street, but was not found.
– Police were asked at 4:51 p.m. Sunday to check the well-being of a person in the 300 block of Vine Avenue. The person was contacted and nothing was wrong.
– A clerk at Smith Oil, 968 E. State St., reported at 2:35 p.m. Sunday that an older male in a red Cadillac left without paying for gasoline. The clerk believed he attempted to pay with a credit card but the pump did not take the payment. The vehicle wasn’t located.
PERRY TWP.
– Police responded at 12:40 a.m. Monday to the 1100 block of Prospect Street for an argument. A man said his girlfriend was trying to force him to leave the residence. She said she let him move in last November and now she wants him to leave. Police explained the eviction process to her. Both were told to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.
– A Jennings Avenue resident advised police at 1:47 p.m. Sunday about a computer scam where the resident’s computer was hijacked by an online person and held for ransom after the resident inadvertently opened a window claiming to be from Microsoft. He was concerned that his personal information stored on the computer would be used for identity theft. He was told to take the computer to a professional to have the hard drive erased.
– Justine Foster, 18, of Salem, was cited for reasonable control after she allegedly lost control of her northbound vehicle on Goshen Road on an icy bridge in the 2100 block at 11:09 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle traveled off of the bridge and then off the right side of the road, rolling onto the driver’s side of the vehicle. She was unable to exit the vehicle and was assisted by people passing by before officers arrived. No injuries were reported.
– Police responded at 9:19 p.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue along with two Salem police officers at their request. The Salem officers attempted to speak with a person known to stay at the residence, but were told by a resident that the person they were seeking had left before police arrived.
– Robert M. Hoperich, 62, of Somerset Drive, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after a one-vehicle accident at 2 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of state Route 45/South Lincoln Avenue north of the Highland Creek entrance. Hoperich’s northbound vehicle ran off of the road and struck a utility pole, damaging the pole. Ohio Edison was contacted. Also assisting were Perry Township fire department first responders.
– A resident in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 11:10 a.m. Saturday that he’s a contractor and received multiple text messages from a person who claimed to have just purchased a house on Hearthside Drive and wanted some remodeling done. The person requested credit card information from the resident so the person could allegedly transfer money into the resident’s account to pay for the work. He told the person he does not accept out of state credit card business and does not give his credit card information to a customer. He was told by police that it’s a phishing scam in an attempt to get his credit card account number.
– Police responded to the 2000 block of Countryside Drive at 1:34 a.m. Saturday for a reported alarm drop for carbon monoxide. A male resident met police outside and said the alarm woke him up and his family. The Perry Township fire department arrived and checked for the source of the carbon monoxide.
– A man in the 2200 block of Goshen Road called at 12:44 a.m. Saturday worried that someone or something was in his back yard causing his dogs to panic. Police searched the back yard and found nothing out of the ordinary.
– A woman in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue called police at 6:14 p.m. Friday to report known people coming to her residence and attempting to force their way inside. They allegedly threatened her and her family with bodily harm prior to leaving. Information will be sent to the prosecutor to review for possible charges.
– Randall Crihfield, 52, of Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to stop in assured clear distance ahead after his northbound pickup struck the rear of a stopped car driven by Gina Hatt, 39, of Clarington, at 4:53 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East Pidgeon Road. Both vehicles had been stopped for traffic at the light and Crihfield said he accidentally pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. No injuries were reported.
– A traffic citation for assured clear distance ahead was pending after a three-vehicle accident at 3:33 p.m. Friday on the U.S. Route 62 bypass at North Lincoln Avenue. A vehicle driven by Julie Roush, 48, of Canfield was eastbound when she admitted to falling asleep, causing her vehicle to strike an eastbound van driven by Gregory Baker, 69, of Navarre, who was stopped for a stop sign. The collision forced the Baker vehicle forward into another eastbound car driven by Renee Suhy, 31, of Hubbard, who was also stopped for the stop sign. Both Suhy and Roush were transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. Baker did not claim injury at the time of the accident. Pending her release from the hospital, the citation for assured clear distance ahead was to be issued against Roush. The Perry Township fire department, Green Township EMS and EMT Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
– Lisa Van Dyke, 55, of 14th Street, Sebring, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign after she pulled from the stop sign on Cunningham Road at 3:03 p.m. Friday southbound into the path of an eastbound bicyclist, Douglas Noblitt, 61, of Arch Street, Salem. Noblitt struck the side of the vehicle and sustained incapacitating injuries. He was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. Police were assisted at the scene by the Perry Township fire department.
– Darren Tyrone Brooks, 45, of Marion, Alabama, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound tractor trailer on the state Route 45/U.S. Route 62 bypass entered the intersection at West State Street and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Joshua Tolson, 31, of Salem, at 8:30 a.m. Friday. The report said Brooks failed to see the traffic light was red. After the collision, the tractor trailer continued north to turn around and was stopped at Benton Road and the 45/62 bypass. The township officer requested assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol commercial vehicle inspector after Brooks claimed to have brake problems with his tractor trailer. The patrol inspected the vehicle and found an issue with the brakes. All parties refused medical treatment at the scene. A company mechanic responded to fix the brakes on the truck.
SALEM TWP.
– Constable Dan Valentine received a call from Norfolk Southern Railroad at 1:50 p.m. Friday reporting that someone has been illegally dumping trash along the railroad tracks. Several photographs were taken and after going through some of the trash several names and addresses were located and the matter is under investigation.

– An officer on patrol at 7:14 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Highland Avenue noticed an open door on a motor vehicle and made contact with the owner, who went through the vehicle to see if anything was taken. Nothing appeared to be missing.
– City police assisted Goshen Township police at 4:57 a.m. Sunday with a one-vehicle accident with unknown injuries on East State Street (state Route 14) near Egypt Road. An officer stood by until Goshen Township police arrived. An ambulance and first responders were also en route.
– Michael R. Mellinger, 46, of 17790 Middletown Road, Beloit, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding (39 mph in a 25 mph zone) after a traffic stop at 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Benton Road. The report said the breath sample measured .152. The maximum legal limit is .08. After being processed, Mellinger was released and picked up by a family member.
– Officers responded with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office Saturday to several locations inside the city to check for persons with active warrants out of the county.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 7:32 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of East Third Street. Officers spoke with both people involved and both said they had a verbal dispute and pushed each other. They were told their options and the female agreed to leave for the evening.
– Police were dispatched at 6:54 p.m. Saturday to the Cranmer bridge on West State Street at 6:54 p.m. Saturday regarding construction cones obstructing the roadway. Officers moved the cones to the sidewalk.
– Police responded at 6:10 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Barclay Avenue for a juvenile problem. An officer spoke with the juvenile involved and the parents about the process for filing unruly charges.
– Police were called at 5:58 p.m. Saturday to Salem Regional Medical Center on East State Street for a loitering complaint. A female was asked to leave the property but refused to leave. She told an officer she was waiting for her cell phone to be dropped off so she can call for a ride. She left the property and went across the street.
– An abandoned bicycle was found at 5:23 p.m. Saturday in the area of East Pershing Street and Park Avenue. The bicycle was transported to the police station by the fire department.
– A resident in the 1500 block of Shady Lane reported at 3:50 p.m. Saturday that someone entered his vehicle the night before. Nothing significant was taken but he wanted officers to be aware.
– Officers were dispatched at 2:27 p.m. Saturday to Jennings Avenue and West Eighth Street for someone creating a disturbance in the road. A male was located a few blocks away and was told to go home and stay out of the road.
– A neighbor dispute over parking issues was reported at 2:09 p.m. Saturday in the city, with the issue resolved before police arrived.
– A man came to the station at 10:42 a.m. Saturday to tell dispatch a suspect from a theft from the day before was at the Salem Public Library again and he was going there to get him, then he walked out of the lobby and headed to the library. An officer arrived and the victim pointed out the suspect sitting in a corner of the upstairs area. The officer spoke to the suspect who said he had the ear buds and was bringing them back to the victim. He turned them over to the officer and apologized for taking them from a table on Friday. The victim wanted charges filed, saying that he needed to learn a lesson. The officer told both the suspect and the victim that it would be up to the library director whether the suspect was restricted from using the library. The theft had been reported at 1:46 p.m. Friday.
– A woman came to the station at 8:59 a.m. Saturday to drop off a stop sign she recovered in the 800 block of South Union Avenue. The street department was notified.
Columbiana
-At 7:49 a.m. Friday, an officer assisted Beaver Township on a call at 4WD Hardware in search of a lost vehicle. The vehicle could not be found.
-A reckless driver was reported at 4:32 p.m. Friday, eastbound on state Route 14.
-At 8:17 p.m. Friday a complaint was made that the railroad gates at the South Elm crossing were stuck in the down position. When the officers arrived on the scene, both were found up.
-Jawna Stokes, Columbiana, was cited at 10:20 p.m. Friday for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the West Park Area.
– Jennifer Keister reported at 9:59 p.m. Saturday she was behind a possibly intoxicated driver on state Route 14 from the Wellsville area. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.
– Dean Jarvis, 24, Boardman, was westbound on Bell Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Saturday and slid through the gate at the dead end of the road due to the inclement weather. No citations were issued.
Salem Township
-A representative from Norfolk-Southern Railroad reported at 1:50 p.m. Friday that someone has been dumping trash along the railroad tracks at the Lisbon-Canfield Road overpass. Multiple photos have been taken and several names and addresses were located in the trash bags. This is currently under investigation.

SALEM REPORTS
– Police were dispatched at 7:21 a.m. Saturday to Salem Tire in the 2300 block of East State Street for a person to be removed. A woman officers had contact with earlier at Salem Regional Medical Center was at the business. The business owner said he knew the woman and would transport her home. She got into the vehicle and was taken to Washingtonville. Police also returned bottles of medication to her that she had left on the sidewalk in front of the parking deck at the hospital. Police were originally called to the hospital at 4:52 a.m. Saturday for a person to be removed after hospital staff advised the woman had been treated and provided her discharge papers to leave, but was in the waiting room refusing to leave because she did not have a ride. She had attempted contact with several people but no contact was made. She was upset and yelling when officers tried to speak with her and was told several times to calm down. She refused to leave the hospital. Officers attempted to find a ride for her, but she said she didn’t want one. She left and then a short time later entered the opposite end of the hospital. Police made contact again and a local cab company was contacted to give her a ride, but once the cab arrived, she refused to get in and then left the hospital property. She was told if she returned to cause a disturbance and not a medical reason she would face charges.
– A woman in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue reported at 3:20 a.m. Saturday that she was receiving harassing messages from her daughter on her cell phone. An officer gathered information and was contacting the daughter to tell her to stop sending the messages.
– An officer was flagged down at 2:05 a.m. Saturday in the Walmart parking lot on East State Street by an employee regarding a suspicious tan minivan parked in the lot with a person sleeping inside. A man was sleeping inside and told police he didn’t have any other place to go for the night. He was given some phone numbers for assistance and told to contact police if any problems arise. No problems were found with the man.
– An officer on patrol at 12:27 a.m. Saturday noticed a vehicle parked at Centennial Park near the basketball courts. Two people inside the vehicle said they parked so they could talk. They were told the park was closed and they would have to leave. The driver was a juvenile and was told he needed to head home because it was near the time for curfew.
– At the request of Goshen Township at 9:11 p.m. Friday, an officer responded to the area of Millville Hill on state Route 14 just outside Salem to assist township police with a traffic accident and person with an active arrest warrant out of Columbiana County. The officer stood by until a second Goshen police unit arrived.
– A well-being check was requested at 8 p.m. Friday for a resident in the 100 block of West Fifth Street threatening to harm themselves. The person told officers everything was fine and they were just upset over some news from earlier. Police returned to the residence a short time later after the caller who requested the well-being check reported the person was still sending messages after police left. The person still said they were fine. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance arrived and the person volunteered to go to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
– Police responded to the Sparkle Market parking lot on South Lundy Avenue at 5:57 p.m. Friday for accidental damage which occurred when the weather caused a shopping cart to strike a vehicle. The report number was provided to the vehicle owner.
– A line was reported down on West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 5:55 p.m. Friday. The line in question was a guide wire for a utility pole. The fire department arrived and the wire was secured to the pole.
– Kester Young, 20, of Cleveland Street, was cited for assured clear distance after a three-vehicle accident at 4:52 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of East State Street. Three vehicles were all eastbound at South Lincoln Avenue, with vehicles driven by Matthew Lippiatt, 43, of Garfield Road, and Francis Burkhart, 50, of Newgarden Avenue, both stopping for traffic. The Young vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of the Burkhart vehicle, sending it into the rear of the Lippiatt vehicle. No injuries were reported.

– A 900 block Hartley Avenue resident reported at 7:45 a.m. Thursday that someone overnight had entered and rummaged through her vehicle, but that nothing appeared to be missing.
– Police responded to an East 11th Street home for a welfare check at 12:01 p.m. Thursday and found the resident on the bedroom floor unable to get back up. Perry Township first responders and an ambulance responded and the resident was eventually transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
– Police spoke with a North Ellsworth Avenue resident at 1:18 p.m. Thursday in reference to her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend who showed up at the residence as she was moving her items out. The woman wished the incident to be documented in case of further problems.
– An officer contacted a Benton Road resident at 4:12 p.m. Thursday in reference to someone taking her “Vote for Trump” sign from her front yard.
– Police responded to a 1200 block Elberon Avenue at 6:52 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported approximately one-third of his fire wood is missing from his backyard.
– Police responded to a Cunningham Road home at 7:04 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported his son was being unruly and wanted a report filed with children services.
– Police responded to a domestic dispute at an Andrew Avenue home at 8:53 p.m. Thursday and found that a man and woman had been in a verbal argument only.
– Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Prospect Street apartment at 8:57 p.m. Thursday and found it to be a verbal argument only.
– Police responded to a Prospect Street apartment complex at 12:53 a.m. Friday where a neighbor reported an unwanted subject at another apartment. Police found that the person lives at the apartment and advised the renter, who was not home at the time, that he could not be removed without a property eviction.
– A patrolling officer observed an open hatch of a van in the 1200 block of North Union Avenue at 6:36 a.m. Friday. It was found to be open by neglect.

– An officer responded to the 900 block of 15th Street at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday in reference to someone driving a loud truck around and dropping off trash at trash cans. The officer was unable to find the truck in question.
– Police responded to a South Lincoln Avenue home at 12:44 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported a woman he knows had been calling and harassing him.
– An officer responded to a Kennedy Drive home at 1:37 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported she had been scammed via the telephone in reference to accessing her personal information.
– An Ohio Avenue resident reported at 4:08 p.m. Thursday that her juvenile son had been involved in a fight with another student at school that day.
– An East Fourth Street resident reported at 4:32 p.m. Thursday that someone had taken her rental car the previous day without her permission. She said that she had attempted to contact the people she believed had taken it, but did not know their names because they are drug dealers. An officer contacted the Columbiana County Drug Task Force and found that the vehicle had been impounded.
– An officer responded to an East State Street business at 5:07 p.m. Thursday where a phone had been stolen last week and had since been sold to a local business.
– Police responded to the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 12:17 a.m. Friday where a resident reported seeing a man enter a garage. Officers found the man in question who said that he had recently been evicted from a nearby apartment and a Hawley Avenue neighbor had given him permission to spend the night on their back porch, but that the wind and rain forced him to seek shelter in the garage, which he admitted he did not have permission to do. He was advised to remain on the porch.
– A patrolling officer at 1:19 a.m. Friday observed an eastbound vehicle on East State Street at Southeast Boulevard traveling without its headlights on. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver eluded the officer through a business parking lot before traveling over a curblawn and across the entrance of a building in the 2300 block of East Pershing Street. When officers found the vehicle, a woman was attempting to enter through the passenger door to put it in park. The woman, who owned the vehicle, said someone else was driving it and fled the area before officers arrived.
– An officer performed a wellbeing check on a Columbia Street resident at 1:34 a.m. Friday after a Florida police department reported his father had said the resident had called him repeatedly threatening to burn down the house. The officer was unable to make contact with the resident, but everything appeared to be fine.
– Officers responded with first responders and an ambulance to a Park Avenue home at 3:30 a.m. Friday where a woman was reportedly passed out on the bathroom floor. The safety personnel found the woman conscious and walking around. She was treated by EMTs, but refused transport to the hospital.
– An East Fourth Street resident reported at 8:40 a.m. Friday that someone had attempted to use her bank account to make two purchases in Brooklyn, N.Y.
– Police responded to the 2500 block of East State Street at 9:28 a.m. Friday in reference to a suspicious person at the rear of the building. The officers spoke with a man who said he was just walking around. Nothing out of the ordinary was found.
– An officer responded to an East Fourth Street home at 12:35 p.m. Friday where the resident reported her daughter’s boyfriend called and yelled at her regarding an issue with her daughter.

– Brandon M. O’Malley, 22, was cited for physical control and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Metz Road at 2:18 a.m. Thursday.
– Kenneth Dean, 26, Leetonia, was arrested on an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 5:13 p.m. Thursday on South Main Street.

– Sathwik Ponnamaneni, 22, Kent, was cited for no driver’s license and speed following a traffic stop at state Route 14 and Seacrist Road at 11:49 a.m. Friday.

– An officer responded to a one-vehicle crash at a Hazel Street business at 10:48 a.m. March 9 in which Trevor Donald Parsons, 19, Leetonia, attempted to turn into the parking lot when the brakes went out on his vehicle, causing him to jump the curb and strike the building. No injuries were reported and no citation issued.
– An officer at 4:38 p.m. March 17 found that the entrance of the bike trailhead on Washington Street had been vandalized with blue spray paint.
– A Stoy Street resident reported at 5:44 p.m. March 17 her estranged son had left two dogs at her home that she had repeatedly tried to get him to pick up the past several months. An officer contacted the son and advised him that leaving the dogs at his mother’s home without her permission could result in criminal charges for abandoning a domestic animal.
– An officer assisted Washingtonville police with a domestic incident at a West Main Street, Washingtonville, home at 2:49 a.m. March 19 regarding an eviction notice served the prior day in which the renter was now attempting to steal items from the home.
– A Honey Lane resident reported at 10:09 a.m. March 19 that someone overnight had egged her vehicles.
– Police responded to a Columbia Street home at 2:09 p.m. March 19 where a woman reported her ex-boyfriend had been texting and calling her despite being told to stop. There was also a threatening text message she received at her place of work in Salem claiming he was going to meet her at her home that had been reported to that department. An officer contacted the boyfriend and warned him of laws against telecommunications harassment and criminal trespassing.
– A Columbiana resident reported at 4:44 p.m. March 20 that her son had been injured in a fight the previous night at a Main Street business. They wanted to press charges but lacked sufficient evidence for such.
– A Lisbon Street resident reported at 10:30 a.m. March 22 receiving a telephone call from a collection agency representing Dish Network and discovering that an account in his name had been opened in Texas last year.
– Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Sleepy Hollow Drive home at 8:10 p.m. March 24 and found that it had been a verbal argument regarding being out of cigarettes.
– An employee at a Columbia Street business reported at 9:47 p.m. March 24 four vehicles in the parking lot with people yelling at each other. Upon arrival, officers found four juveniles and advised them to leave the area.
– Kenneth E. Ferlolito, 60, Youngstown, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear after officers responded to an Empire Street home at 8:51 p.m. Monday to investigate a domestic situation.
– Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a High Street home at 8:32 p.m. Tuesday in which a woman did not wish to remain there. She was assisted in finding someplace to stay.
– An officer responded to a panic alarm at the high school library at 9:33 a.m. Thursday, but found it to be a false alarm.

– A woman called at 11:49 a.m. Thursday to request a well-being check on another resident on 11th Street. The residence was in Perry Township, so Perry Township personnel were contacted to respond. Entry was gained with permission of the resident’s son, with an ambulance called for the female resident.
– A suspicious U-haul truck was reported parked in a lot at 10:01 a.m. Thursday near Waterworth Memorial Park and Superior Avenue. An officer responded and saw the truck but all appeared fine. The truck was secure and nothing appeared out of place.
– An officer at 2:59 a.m. Thursday saw a man yelling loudly at a woman in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The man said he was having problems with his girlfriend due to being locked out of the residence, but it only an argument with no physical violence. The woman confirmed the incident was verbal only. Both were told to remain quiet due to the early hour and to continue to their destination.
– Police were called at 2:02 a.m. Thursday to the 600 block of Seventh Street for a suspicious male persistently knocking on the door of a residence. He was located and identified and said he wanted to retrieve property from an ex-girlfriend’s house but she wouldn’t answer the door. He was told to leave and contact legal counsel to decide the best course of action to retrieve the property.
– A resident in the 300 block of North Madison Avenue called at 10:37 p.m. Wednesday to report hearing someone at the rear of the residence turning the rear entrance door knob. The door was locked. Officers checked around the residence in the rear yard and garage and no one was there. No one was in the surrounding area either.
– A noise complaint was reported at 10:32 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of South Union Avenue where a woman heard shouting. Officers checked the area, hearing nothing.
– Police responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street for a complaint at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday of a male passing out contraceptives to random young juveniles. Officers were directed to South Lundy Avenue near Columbia where the suspect was walking away. Officers located the male, who was a juvenile who initially attempted to hide but stopped and acknowledged his involvement after being told about the complaint. An officer explained to him that it was not appropriate to be doing what he was doing. He claimed he only approached one juvenile male he knows, but according to the caller, he also approached juveniles he did not know who were not even old enough to understand what the items were. The juvenile was told he’s no longer welcome at the business. If he returns, he could be charged with trespassing.
– Ashley Aguilera, 25, of Richmond, was charged with theft after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday for a shoplifter. Asset protection employees said a female concealed $48 worth of merchandise before attempting to leave without paying.
– Police were called at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of West Wilson Street for a report of criminal trespassing. Police found a male had been squatting in an abandoned building, but left before officers arrived. The owner of the property was advised of his options.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday at North Ellsworth Avenue and East Seventh Street, but the vehicle was not found on the road.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Southeast Boulevard. A vehicle matching the description was found on East State Street, but all was fine. No violations were observed.
– An officer at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday attempted contact with a city resident regarding an item found by Perry Township Police that belonged to the resident. A note was left on the person’s car on West School Street.
– Police were called at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday to the area of South Broadway and Franklin to check the well-being of a person. Officers saw the male in the parking lot/sidewalk area near Sparkle Market on South Lundy Avenue jumping around with a can of alcoholic beverage in his right front pocket. He said he would stop jumping all over and stay on the sidewalk and go home.
PERRY TWP.
– Police were requested at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday to perform a welfare check on an elderly female who was locked out of her residence. Arrangements were made for the woman to go to a relative’s house in Sebring to pick up the spare key.
– Police responded at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, along with a Salem Police officer at his request in an attempt to speak with a person known to stay there. The homeowner advised the person had moved out of the area.
– A resident in the 1500 block of Manor Drive reported at 8 a.m. Wednesday that someone used what appeared to be a pink “bingo dauber” to write on the front windshield and passenger side windows of his vehicle. The pink material appeared to be able to be washed off without damaging the windows.
– A caller at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday reported a vehicle partially off the road with a female slumped over the wheel on Cunningham Road. Police found the woman alert and the vehicle stuck on the soft shoulder. She denied falling asleep or having any medical problems. Police assisted in getting the vehicle back on the road.
– An officer saw an unsecured door on the Columbia Gas building on Depot Road at the township line at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday. The interior was checked with nothing appearing amiss. The door was secured by police.
COLUMBIANA
– Annie Bernard, Union Street, reported at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday someone scammed her over the phone.
– A man reported at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday a bearded man in a black T-shirt appeared to have stolen something from a shopping cart from the Save-A-Lot store. Police made contact with the man and charges are pending.
– Michael Spencer, South Middle Street, reported at 6 p.m. Wednesday a neighbor’s dog was running loose and came into his yard and attacked his two dogs. Police warned Robert Macklin Jr., 46, for dogs running at large.
LISBON
– Jay Farrow reported Wednesday being harassed by someone he knows while walking past that person’s home on West Lincoln Way. Police recommended Farrow taking a different route when going to visit friends down the street, and he said he would stay away from that residence.
– Dana Blackburn reported two water hole covers were flipped up on Maple Street at 7:47 p.m. Monday. Police put the covers back in place.
– A caller reported there was someone in Scott Rudder’s apartment on North Market Street at 1 p.m. Tuesday, and police went to the apartment and a woman and young man answered the door. The woman, identified as Nicole R. Rafferty, said she had Rudder’s written position to be inside and showed the officer the key. Rafferty was told to advise Rudder someone had called police to say items had been removed from the premises, but she did not know anything about that since it was her first time in the apartment.
