ALLIANCE -- The Rodman Public Library has announced its November slate of activities for November.
Children
Designed to help participants shake their sillies out, Stories in Motion continues at Rodman Public Library Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. As cold weather sets in children ages 3-12 and caregivers will move to stories and songs in this action storytime. Bring energy, wear comfy clothes and get ready to move along in a fun new way to hear stories. For information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
Rodman Public Library's Lego Lab will continue in November when the theme will be fall trees. The program, intended for children ages 6-12, will be held Nov. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants will also have the opportunity to create whatever they would like using Legos provided by the library. Turkeys will be the theme for Hot Pots Storytime in November. Two sessions will be held in November with turkeys being the theme, including Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. and another Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Children, ages 3-12, are invited to come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a turkey figurine. Rodman Public Library's monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Nov. 9 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library to create a chalk art turkey. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup. Teens
November and creative food go hand in hand. That's why during the month that features Thanksgiving is also the month when the popular Teen Chopped is held annually inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium. The 2023 edition will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. Teen chefs will be divided into teams of up to four members, and just like in the television show "Chopped," they will create three courses - appetizer, main course, and dessert - that must include certain items from provided ingredient baskets. Teens will also have the full use of the Rodman Chopped pantry that will be filled with spices and other essentials to complete their dish. A panel of three persons will then judge each round. The event, which is supported by Friends of Rodman Public Library, is limited to 18 participants, so registration is required. Teens may sign up individually or in groups up to four persons. Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 9. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com. Adults
People aging into 65 and becoming Medicare eligible have important decisions to make. Jay Culler, an expert on Medicare, will help educate patrons about the confusing process from start to finish when he presents "Medicare 101: A Simple Guide to Medicare Made Clear and Easy." Culler, a licensed sales agent who represents multiple carriers specializing in Medicare, will deliver the unbiased informational seminar on Monday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. Registration is required to attend the seminars at rodmanlibrary.com, or by calling 330-821-2665. Maker Monday crafters will create a macrame plant hanger when they meet Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. in Rodman Public Library's Main Auditorium. November's program will be led by guest presenter Hayley Driver. Maker Monday, usually led by Debbie Mikesell, is an in-person craft program for adults that is held monthly on select Mondays. All materials are provided free of charge, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required for each session. Winter is coming and Green Alliance wants to help area residents be prepared. On Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m., Green Alliance will host a program inside the Rodman Auditorium that will explain how to keep warm, save money and help the environment this winter. All are welcome to the free event where those in attendance will learn simple tips to reduce their home's energy cost this winter.
